Wifi access for tungsten E2

I need to select a internet service provider for access.  I'm clueless where to begin. Should I go with the satellite wildblue.net who provides service to my home computer or something like boingo for 9.95/month?

To perform a HotSync, yes you normally use a USB cable and set HotSync to "Cable/Cradle".  These settings have nothing to do with going online with your Wifi card, nor with surfing the web.
Have you viewed the Wifi Card User Manual on the disk that came with the card?
There is a learning curve involved with becoming your own "Network Administrator".  Troubleshooting your router's settings is key to finding the problem.  As explained in the Wifi Checklist I wrote, you have to determine many things that can only be found by logging into your router and viewing the settings.
Your router's transmission speed could be wrong, encryption key could be wrong, DNS numbers, etc.  Without being able to log into your router, you're stuck!
Your router has a reset button, but if you aren't that familiar with setting one up yourself, it can be pretty daunting.   You'll need to set the router to be /b compatible, use WEP as the encryption scheme, and possibly copy the DNS numbers that your ISP is sending to the router.

  • Wifi access for short trip needed.  Was told by Verizon that my iPad (was a gift) is not Verizon enabled.  So, how do I go about getting WiFi access -- I only need it for about 2 weeks.  Would be glad to pay for a month.

Was gifted with an iPad2.  Do not have Internet service connected to it.  Would like to purchase WIFi access for an upcoming trip.  Am a Verizon phone customer, but was told that my iPad is not a Verizon enabled iPad.  So, what should I do now?  Am aware of free Wifi access in many places, but I want to be sure to have constant access and hope some of you can teach me.  Thanks!

To use wifi you just need access to a wifi network (and it's password if the network is password protected). If you want to be able to get online when you don't have access to a wifi network then if you have a iPhone you might be able to use that and it's network as a personal hotspot for the iPad (if your carrier supports it), or you can get mifi devices which take sim cards (and therefore also use a cellular network) and which act as mobile hotspots - for either of those to work you would need to be in area that is covered by the phone's/mifi's network

  • BT Vision killed WiFi access for my PS3 - problem ...

I had BT Infinity Broadband and a Home Hub 2.0 working fine and could use my PS3 over a WiFi connection to the hub to watch iPlayer and play online games without any problems whatsoever.
Then along came BTVision, which works fine cable connected to the hub using the mains LAN adapters BUT it killed the WiFi connection for my PS3.   No more online games and iPlayer/LoveFilm Bah.
HOWEVER, After lots of messing around with the settings in the Home hub I found that the only change I needed to make to fix the problem was to change the Wireless channel on my HomeHub from the default Channel 6 to Channel 7.  I tried using other channels but Channel 7 does the business.
I couldn't find any specific help online for this type of problem so I'm posting this resolution on the off chance that someone else will benefit from the aggravation I've just gone through.

  • Wifi Access for House / Harddrive restricted to admin

I just got a Time Capsule for personal use to backup my computer. My house includes 3 people who all use the current Airport Extreme. So, I have one goal and I'm not sure which is best. Right now the AE is piggy-backed to the AT&T router because it's just terrible.
    1. I want to use my Time Capsule so anyone with the password can have access to the Wifi connection but restrict access to the harddrive to only me.
    If that's not possible:
    2. I want to not connect the TC to either router and set up a connection that only I'll have access to completely independent of the house network.
    Any help would be awesome.

In AirPort Utility you can set up a Guest network that will have internet access but not any access to your desktop or the HD on the TC

  • Wifi access from my wrk54g router shows as disabled

I've been using my wifi access for years.  Suddenly today my laptop and my phone shows my wifi connection as being disabled.  How can I re-enable the connection?  It works fine wired.
    Thanks,
    Cedj

Where does it shoe disabled? On router or computer?
What is the operating system on your laptop?
If it is on laptop then go to Network connections. You will find wireless network connection. Right click on it and enable it.
If it is on router then you will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Connect one computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Open the setup page of the router. Go to wireless tab. The Network mode should be mixed and Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled.

  • How can I turn mac mini into wifi access point for iPhone?

    Hi,
I do not have a wifi router.
I want my iPhone to be able to use my broadband internet instead of the slow EDGE internet.
The simple solution would be to buy a wifi router whih would enable my iPhone to access the wifi home network.
*What if I could turn the mac mini into a wifi access point?* That would save me from the hassle of buying a wifi router.
Any idea how to do this??

    I did this.
I think I am doing something wrong. I am doing something wrong in this setting *from ethernet to airport*.
    see attached screenshot.
To start Internet sharing on a computer using Mac OS X:
    1. Open System Preferences, click Sharing, and then click Internet.
    2. Select how you would like to share your Internet connection, and then click Start. You
can choose to share your Internet connection with AirPort-enabled computers,
computers with built-in Ethernet, or both.
    Note:
If your Internet connection and your local network use the same port (built-in
Ethernet, for example), contact your ISP before you turn on Internet sharing. In some
cases (if you use a cable modem, for example) you might unintentionally affect the
network settings of other ISP customers, and your ISP might terminate your service to
prevent you from disrupting its network.
    3. If you want to share your Internet connection with computers using AirPort, click
AirPort Options to give your network a name and password.

  • A tech company just set up a wifi network in my house and does not use my existing TC; how do I get it in the network to serve as backup for my iMac? (I don't need it as a wifi access point anymore)

a tech company just set up a wifi network in my house and does not use my existing TC; how do I get it in the network to serve as backup for my iMac? (I don't need it as a wifi access point anymore) thanks

Just bridge the TC and plug it by ethernet into the main router.
    Bridge in v5 airport utility.
In v6 it is under network.. change it from DHCP and NAT to Off bridge mode.
    Turn off the wireless.

Wi-Fi access can be limited using the Timed Access feature of the AirPort routers. You would do so using the AirPort Utility.

How can my wife access all of our iTunes music, even if she subscribes to iTunes Match, if her Apple ID is different than mine?

I do subscribe to iTunes Match.....and the music i am referring to is all of our downloaded albums and songs that are currently in iTunes and in the "cloud" on my iPhone and my iPad.
So if she uses my Apple ID for her iPhone, she can sign up for iTunes Match on my account?  Will any of my apps then transfer to her phone?  Or just the iTunes "data"?

  • Proxy Setting for Multiple WiFi Access Points

I'm getting ready to roll out 30 iPads in a school setting.  They are going to be on a cart that teachers will be able to check out for class use, but will be returned to the computer lab each evening.  This creates a problem.
Throughout the building, we have several WiFi access points - next year we will have an access point in each classroom.  And of course we connect through a proxy server so that the district can block various wbsites.  As I am setting up my iPad to connect to each access point, I have to set the proxy server address for the access point; I would really like to be able to simply say "This is my proxy server address and port for EVERY WiFi access point in the building." and be done with it.  I haven't been able to find a way to do this -- it looks like I have to configure each access point individually.
Am I just missing something (I hope)?

I suspect you have the D-Link set up to make its network an entirely new subnet using NAT.
If you setup the D-Link as a bridge to the network created by the Extreme, things may work properly.
You may need to refer to the D-Link documentation to find out the proper way to do this.

  • N95 WiFi Internet access for an iTouch?

My friend has a new iTouch and I was hoping to blow her away by supplying a wifi access point to it through my N95's 3G connection. I'm on a flat plan and literally have bandwidth to burn.
It seems like an insurmountable task, given there would be so much to manage but this N95 is still constantly surprising me. I love this phone. If you know of a mobile wifi router, or of some reason it can or cannot be done, let me know.

  • Trying to set up Time Capsule for WiFi access with Linksys router

Problem: I must use a Linksys router to connect to internet, since I have my telephone connected to this router (Vonage). I have set up a Time Capsule and connected it to the Linksys router, which is NOT wireless. I would like to use the wireless capability of the Time Capsule to provide wifi connection for laptop computers. The Time Capsule's wireless network is visible to these computers, but they do not connect to the network, since the Time Capsule is not the source of dynamic IP addresses; rather, the Linksys router is the source for IP addresses on my network. What must I do to get IP addresses supplied to computers attached via wifi?

The Time Capsule was set up using bridge mode. My initial error was to use the WAN port. After switching to a LAN port to connect with the Linksys router, the laptop computer was able to connect to the network wirelessly, but it could not obtain web page from the internet.
The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6000; with an ethernet cable attached to the Time Capsule, it receives an IP address AND it can obtain web pages from the internet. The command "ipconfig /all" issued at the DOS prompt yields approximately the following:
Broadcom... (this is the ethernet card) ... IP address 192.168.15.104, with the gateway 192.168.15.1 (which is the Linksys router)
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless... (this is the wireless card) ... IP address 192.168.15.103, with the same gateway.
I can ping the iMac from the Dell laptop; the iMac is connected directly to the Linksys router. Running ping 192.168.15.104 from Terminal on the iMac succeeds, while ping 192.168.15.103 does not.

  • Can't HP Officejet pro 8100 do wifi access point?

Yesterday my HP Officejet pro 8100 arrived and I try to connect via wifi. I thinked that It need a infrastructure access point to print via wifi.
When I powered on the printer I osserved that It create an access point autonomously with SSID: HP-Setup-7A-Officejet Pro, with IPv4 address server, etc...
I was very happy and I printed a page with my smartphone samsung s4 connected directly with printer access point (not wifi direct but standard wifi).
Today no changed occurred but I can't use printer with its own access point, but only with an external wifi access point.
Someone can help me, please? It could be an hardware problem?
    Thanks,
    Luca
P.S. in web server I checked that "access point connectivity" (Punto di accesso wireless connettività in Italian) is checked.
    This question was solved.

    Hello lucait
To print via WiFi you need to have a wireless router setup. Once you have the wireless router setup correctly you will have a SSID and Wepkey that will enable you to add devices to your network. The network will allow all your devices to communicate not just with each other but with the internet. At the moment your printer was not put in a network so instead of broadcasting on a network it is broadcasting on it's own network called HP-Setup-7A-Officejet Pro which is only good for a short period of time to allow you to setup your wireless. I am going to assume you have a wireless network and you are just needing assistance getting the printer setup on that network.
To set your printer up on a network you will need to reset your network defaults so your printer begins to broadcast that HP-Setup-7A-Officejet Pro network again. You can do this buy following the steps on the HP Support document Resetting the Network Settings. Once you have done this you can begin to install the software that came with your printer on your computer. You want to set the printer up wirelessly when the option arrives. The software should configure your printers wireless for you and put it on the network. Once completed you should be able to access your printer from all your devices as long as they are on the network.
I hope this helps resolve your wireless issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • How-do-i-configure-guest-wifi-access-using-2504-wlc-fortigate-utm-l3-device

    Dear All
I have a 2504 Wireless Controller with multiple radios attached. I currently have a "private" WLAN configured (taking ip from windows server based DHCP of Range 192.1681.0/24 ) and working, but I need to add a Guest/Public WLAN which should take the IP from Other DHCP Configured on Fortigate UTM of range 172.16.0.0/24.
We have one SG300 switch in the office and the rest are basic switches.
    Our firewall/router is a Fortigate UTM 240D
Find the attached network diagram for the issue.
Is there a SIMPLE way to enabling guest access that doesn't require VLANS (or are VLANS easier than I'm making them)?
    Thanks.

  • WiFi Card with Tungsten EH

I just received a PalmOne WiFi card for my Tungsten E2 for Fathers Day and was trying to set it up. I have been very unsuccessful. I have internet capabilities at home and at the office on my PC. I have WiFi capabilities with my laptop at work which allows me to take it anywhere in the building and stay connect to our network and all our application. I do not have a media network plan for my cell phone, but it is capable, I just don't subscribe. Do I need to add the data plan from my service provider (AT&T Wireless) in order for my WiFi card to work/connect to the internet or can it connect to free WiFi networks on it's own?
    Post relates to: Palm Pilot

A cell plan has nothing to do with the Wifi card...
Have you viewed the help file at the top of the BlueTooth and Wifi section of the forum?  It explains the basic settings needed to connect.  I wrote it for the TX, but it's applicable to the Wifi card too.
Do you know the passwords and encryption settings at work?  Have you tried entering them into the Wifi card's settings?  Are they broadcasting in /b or mixed mode?
What isn't working at home?  Do you have your all your router's settings entered correctly into the E2?
