WiFi Adapter Not Detected

Hello, I recently just got a WiFi adapter for my Mac because my Mac's inbuilt one doesn't have that good range. I'm running Mavericks 10.9.5. When I plugged in the dongle, it did not light up and my Mac did not even recognize it, but when I plugged it in to my Windows PC, it was recognized and working perfectly. The dongle is a D-Link DWA 150 (Link:http://us.dlink.com/products/connect/wireless-n150-usb-adapter/) Can anyone please help me?

  • WiFi Adapter not detected on T530

Hi there, I just purchased a refurb T530 form the Lenovo outlet and have had enormous problems with the Wifi Adapter. Machine: T530 Win 64 Pro Wifi card Realtek I know there have been many similar discussions of this issue in the past, so I can start by eliminating certain possibilities based on previous posts.
    1. The plug-in Ethernet functions fine.
    2. Toggle power switch has been tried, as well as FN+F5, which generates a message about no supported wireless adapters being found.
3 WiFi card does not show up in the Device Manager (DM). There are no errors for other hardware components listed in the DM.
    4. WiFi does not show up in the BIOS.
    5. Lenovo support sent me a replacement WiFi card, but an Intel model, which immediately generated an error message upon bootup about a non-compatible PCI card. I reinstalled the original Realtek card and still cannot see it in the DM or BIOS.
    6. Have tried loading and unloading various drivers with respect to both the WiFi card as well as power management and hotkey features.
This is brand new machine, and hence will go back to Lenovo under warranty service, but I would much prefer to handle this without the shipping hassle back-and-forth, plus I would like to understand the underlying issue to prevent its recurrence (especially if it's software based and not simply a defective chip). Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If adapter isn't broken, fitted to the slot preperly and turned on it should be recognised by system on the pci-e bus and seen in the Device Manager at least as Unknown device.
To ensue that open powershell window and copy-past (via right click menu) the following string:
    Get-WmiObject Win32_PNPEntity | Where-Object{$_.ConfigManagerErrorCode -ne 0} | Select Name, DeviceID
If adapter is recognised but doesn't have drivers installed, you'll see its description.
Or you can check wireless adapter by its description context:
    Get-WmiObject Win32_PNPEntity | Where-Object{$_.Name –Match “DeviceName”} | Select Name, DeviceID
Replace "DeviceName" in the string above with "Raltek", "Wireless", "Adapter" etc. (keep the quotes)

  • My wifi will not detect networks and will not search for other networks when I search for them. Do I need a new iPhone or can I fix it myself?

My wifi is on and when it tries to find a wifi connection, the gray little circle just keeps spinning and will not detect our home wifi. I have tried to search for it and connect to it manually, but it will not search for the network name. I'm hoping I don't need a new phone so please help.

  • No Wireless networks found (WIFI adapter not visible)

From 2-3 days , my laptop's wifi adapter was disabled automatically.
The wireless network doesn't showing WIFI option.
Therefore I am not able to connect to any WIFI network.
    Please help

    Hi @21_95,
    Thank you for your inquiry.
I grasp that your wireless was automatically disabled and you are unable to enable it.
If you check Device Manager is there any errors on it?
You can check this setting also while you are in Device Manager.
Click on the network adapters to expand the list.
Right click on the wireless adapter and choose properties.
Click on the power management tab.
If allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is checked please remove it .
Repeat that process for any additional network adapters.
Here is  link to HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8) that may also help.
As this is a recent occurrence you could test for a hardware failure of the card.
HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8)
You could also try a HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8) which will reinstall your Windows but should not affect your files.  I do suggest that you do a backup of your files just to be on the safe side.
    Good Luck!

  • Ralink Wifi Adapter Not showing

My device manager doesnt show my Ralink wifi adapter. When i click on view hidden devices, i can see it there but it says Code 45 error, hardware not connected.  Why is this happening? Please help. Im unable to use wifi on my device because of this!

    Hi @yashagarwal ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6-2314ax Notebook and having issues with the Wireless drivers. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system it has built in Wireless troubleshooting assistance.
Here is a link to the troubleshooting the Wireless connection.
Here is a document on Airplane mode.
If Airplane mode is on you cannot use your WiFi and you would see the code 45 not connected, so Airplane mode should off and no Ethernet cable connected for the Wireless troubleshooting.
I hope something listed here helps you.
    Thanks.

  • T43 - ultrabay adapter not detecting drive

I just bought  an after market Ultrabay Adapter off ebay for the SATA drive I recently bought. However, when I plugged in the adapter into the cd-rom slot Windows does not detect as a drive. It shows up as new hardware detected, but that's it. What can i do to make the drive detectable in MyComputer ( or how do I access it) ?

Does it show up in disk management?  Perhaps it needs to be formatted, or is the drive already formatted?

  • Wifi card not detected with ifconfig (solved)

    Hello,
I'm not sure wether I should post this here or not...
However, I'm using a Realtek Wifi card RTL8188CE on my laptop and I couldn't succeed in using it. (I'm using Arch x64, it's up-to-date).
I tried using ndiswrapper, but even when the ndiswrapper module is loaded and the driver properly created from the ".inf" file, ifconfig -a still doesn't display anything else than the usual "eth0" and "lo".
Here are the information I think are useful, please tell me if I forgot anything.

    Hello,
I finally solved my problem. It turns out my driver existed on the AUR and all I had to do is load the corresponding module with modprobe.

  • Wifi Does Not detect my network but does others

    Hi there,
I managed to get great responses last time I had an issue and now I'm back.
Here's the issue and I will also say what I've tried so far to fix it.
    ISSUE
On-and-off my laptop cannot detect (and hence join) my own Wi-Fi network, even when right next to the router. My neighbours' networks are all visible.
This issue is not consistent and is sporadic.
It is not a hardware issue - I'm currently (reluctantly) logged into my Windows partition and am happily using my Wi-Fi connection through that.
It's not a router issue as
    a) It's a new router
    b) I can connect through Windows (as can my wife on her netbook)
    c) My iPod Touch connects no problem.
My network is not a hidden network, it is fully visible. It is, of course, a secured network and no-one but me knows the password to the admin panel of the network.
    _WHAT I'VE TRIED_
    a) Restarting the computer doesn't fix it
    b) Removing the connection settings from 'Networks' and restarting it doesn't fix it
    c) Deleting the system preferences list from Library|SystemConfig|Preferences doesn't fit it.
    d) Turning the router off for a while and then back on doesn't fix it.
    e) I've just done a DiskWarrior check and that didn't fix it.
I have also done a complete reinstall of Leopard and then restored my files etc from my external hard drive (configured to use Time Machine).
    I don't know whether I've covered everything, but it's certainly a start.
A couple of weird things - sometimes leaving it overnight means it re-finds my network - but no explanations. And the fact that this issue is inconsistent.
Please help, as I really am getting tired of it (I've tried working around it for a couple of weeks now) and am out of ideas.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
It sounds to me like an IP address problem.
Under "Applications" go to "System preferences", then under "Internet & Network" select "Network" Select the kind of network you want to connect to, go to advanced under "TCP/IP" It should say "Using DHCP"
    Write down the IP address.
Try renewing the DHCP lease. Then try connecting to the network.
If that doesn't work, find a computer that can connect to the internet and check the IP address of that computer the first three sets of numbers should match the IP address you wrote down, if they don't normally I would have to tell you to go through terminal and find an unused IP address to select, but considering you probably are never going to access the network through both parts of the partition at the same time, you can safely use the IP address that Windows has. How to get that IP Address I can't really help you with though...
Once you pull the IP address that the windows side is using go back to the advanced settings page and select "use DHCP with manual IP address" in the space for IP address enter said IP address, and click apply. And hopefully you will be having a grand ol' time on the web.

  • WIFI NETWORKS NOT DETECTED

I just bought an ipad 2 and at home in Paris (France) it worked fine. That means that it detects all the surrounding WIFI networks and connect perfectly on my personal home network.
I am now in Torino (Italy) and the ipad searches wifi networks and do not find any. My iphone and my Galaxy Ace (Samsung phone) instead find all existing networks and are able to connect to the one for which I have the password.
    What to do ?
    Merci
    Marc

If I could I would do but the wifi on which I want to connect is the Torino University Network and I cannot update its "firmware".
Also this does not explain why NO NETWORKS are detected while 10 are detected by my mobile phones.
It seems from the forum that the simplest action recommanded was to shut off the pad and then light it on again. I have done that without results.
What is the next simple action that I can do ? Go to an APPLE STORE ?

  • Wifi hardware not detected

After upgraded to Lion OS yesterday and after some software updates, I always have to restart once when I start up my iMac to allow the wifi hardware to be detected automatically. On a fresh boot-up, the iMac will take a long time to boot up and will go to a login page where I have to key in my password. After logging in, the wifi hardware cannot be detected and I have to restart once to allow the wifi hardware to be re-detected successfully.
Also, Lion OS seems to be a bit laggy as compared to Snow Leopard. There are times where my iMac seems to be less responsive whenever I executed an action or a link on a website.
Anyone encountering this problem as well? Any suggestions?

I have 2 similar threads posted myself. It only happens on a fresh boot after you system has been off for a few hours. When you get to that login page, click restart at the bottom and after it restarts the menu bar will work normally and wifi is back. I have been on the phone with Apple Care about this 3 times and they take it as a non issue. My computer is set for automatic login and not to ask for password on wakeup, but after my machine has been shutdown for more than 2 hours, it always takes a long time to boot and asks me for a password. If I give it the password, the Lion system is slower than poo and wifi and many other things do not function properly.
Next time you get to that login screen, click the restart at the bottom and on next boot everything will work normally.
So far that is the only solution I can find and Apple Care tries to explain the bug to me as a feature of some kind and not a problem with my Mac or Lion. I have the iMac 2011 i5 model... and with Snow Leopard everything was great.
And BTW, even if you do a fresh install of Lion, this bug still remains! I fresh installed twice instead of upgrade and this is the most annoying bug of them all. Have to restart the iMac just to boot, ridiculous.
PS: resetting the SMC did not help the booting problems in my machine. Only fixed the fan problems after installing Lion. Even if you leave the machine unplugged all night, still will does this on reboot. So far from my other thread, I have noticed this issue has been in late model iMacs and Macbook Pros... but hasn't affected the rest of the Mac product lines.

  • Satellite C855 Wifi Adapter not found

I saw simliar posts but I still have not found the answer I am looking for. I have a C855 which was a best buy about 5 months ago. About 3 weeks ago, the wifi started to disconnect without warning. All my other 6 wifi connections (tv's and other devices) work fine to this day. It was tough to get restarted but eventually I did. (I could not tell you what I did, it seemed to have a mind of its own). About two weeks ago, the Realtek adapter quit showing up in device manager. I am thinking it is a hardware probelem. I don't recall any updates and my anti-virus was uptodate. I took it to my geek and they tried to update and troubleshoot it through the ethernet connection which works well. Their diagnosis was a software problem and suggested I "refresh" my computer. If it did not work, then diagnosis started at $199. I paid $350 for the computer. Of course, I refreshed it and nothing changed. Any suggestions before I go back to a Dell?

  • Wifi  does not detect networks

    Hi,
I have an Iphone and the wifi works fine but i got a second one for my sister and with 5-6 networks in my building it cannot detect them . the "thinking circle" spins and spins and nothing .
I mentioned i have an iphone to let you know that i know how to use it and i have a wireless network set up in my apt plus other 4 of my neighbors .
maybe some of you experienced the same thing . i ran out of options ...is it a hardware problem ?
PS i just upgraded both phones to 2.0
    thank you much

Try a fresh restore on the phone (do not install a backup) and see if this solves the problem.
    Turn off your phone.
Restart your router (i.e. turn it off at the mains for 30sec the on).
Try accessing the network on your sisters phone only.
Failing that book into a Genius Bar at your local Apple store as this is potentially a hardware issue, due to the fact you have a phone that works fine.

  • T500 - Internet Wireless Adapter Not Detected

I am at a loss right now since I have never encountered a problem with a computer that I couldn't solve at all. On my T500 (2081CTO), I had an XP OS and everything was working fine (almost). I decided to install the original Vista that came with it and at the same time updated the BIOS to the latest version, I think 3.18, before I installed Visa Home Basic. After the install, there is no wireless adapter deteced. I can't get any internet without a cable. Here is everything I have tried already:
    Install all Vista OS updates
    Run Lenovo System Update
Install standalone Wireless drivers from Lenovo directly
    Resintall the drivers
Physically remove, clean, and re-insert the wireless adapter
Check settings in BIOS to make sure all wireless devices are enabled
Disable and then re-enable wireless LAN/WiMax in BIOS
    Clear CMOS
I don't know what else to do, besides some costly and time consuming options, like reinstalling XP instead, getting a new adapter, or paying someone to fix my own computer.
    Here are some additional clues:
Under device manager, only Intel 82567LM Gigabit Network Controller is listed under "Network Adapters"
There is "Other devices" under which there is "Network Controller" with an excalamation mark. I have been unable to install the dirvers for it
Finally, I do not have Lenovo recovery disks and had to install Vista from a downloaded version online. At the end of the install is asked me to install drivers, which I thought sounded weird, and chose not to. If I have to pay $30 to get a replacment disk for something I already own, I'd rather buy Windows 7.
So this is my dilemma and I am not sure exactly where my problem is. I would appreciate any help or insight.

You probably just need to download & install the drivers for the WiFi card... (You probably also need the drivers for some other devices as well, such as AMT and Card Reader, IIRC) You can get them on the Lenovo Driver download page, http://support.lenovo.com - (Drivers & Downloads) just put your MT/M number (from a label on the bottom of the laptop) in the "QuickPath" Product selector... (If you can't find the MT/M just put T500 in.) Then look for Wireless LAN drivers... If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest getting a copy of the Windows 7 Pro Recovery discs for the laptop and THEN install the afore mentioned drivers... Feel free to send me an e-mail if you have further questions about this... Just remove the spaces, change ATsymbol to @  and change DOTsymbol to . mkingsmill ATsymbol gmail DOTsymbol com I will do my best to reply on the forum for all to see (thus helping others who may also be researching solutions to this issue)
