WiFi and 1.1.3
Starting with 1.1.3 (with SW Upgrade) I have starting to see WiFi joining problems (no DHCP is received by the iPT) forcing me to restart the iPT gracefully (holding down power and the slide when prompted) to get a correct DHCP lease.
If I do not restart it I get the auto-config address 169.x.x.x. This never happened before upgrading and the problem is not in the WiFi network as my PC gets DHCP leases repeatedly. I have tried to disable/enable WiFi in the iPT, renewed DHCP lease, resetting Network Settings - but, alas, this still happens twice a day. I roam around in several "blessed/remembered" unprotected, WPA and WEP protected network during a day, but this happens in all of the networks. (Previous version worked just fine)
Anyone seen this as well?

Hey Mattias,
This could be an issue with the wireless routers or the signal strength. The iPhone will display the 169.254.x.x IP when it does not receive an IP address. Try resetting the router or test with another Wi-Fi network like one at an Apple Retail Store.

Yup, get your own AppleID.
The messages that are being sent to both phones are technically not text, they are Apple's iMessage. They use the data part, not the texting part. So if you have an iPad or a Mac computer, you can send/receive the iMessages there too.

My wife and I have made many purchases over several years on seperate accounts, how could we join them into one account, without losing everything? We both use Iphone 5's and share an Imac at home.
Purchases using one Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID. Purchases are forever tied to that Apple ID used. You have to decide which Apple you want to use for purchases and stick to that Apple ID so that you can share: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID : > use the same Apple ID here to share purchases.

My wife and I each have an Ipad and use only one mail account. Both Ipads therefore get the same mail and when either one of us deleates an email it also deleates on the other Ipad and this can be a problem if one of us doesn't want that e-mail deleted. Obviously our Ipads are synced and I don't know how to correct this. Any advice ?
If you both have the same email account, there's no setting on iPad you can use. When a message is deleted, it's deleted from the mail account server, which will happen on both devices.

Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll. If you are syncing Notes with iCloud, you'll also have to email your notes to yourself so they can be recreated in the new account as they cannot be migrated.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting your wife's data from your account, and vice versa). -

Good question, but I'm 99.9% certain the answer is "no". Here are some considerations:
Think of the heritage of iOS. It really started with iPhones and maybe iPods. These devices cost a whole lot less than a Mac. They are generally not thought of as shared (with exceptions, of course, as is true for you).
Think of the backup process. i-devices typically sync with one iTunes on one computer. How would an i-device with multiple users enstantiate this?
Anyway, all this is to say I'm convinced you cannot do what you're inquiring about. -
In Match, it seems to associate with a single AppleID. The wife and I share all our music on iTunes on the PC - it's all in a single library. How can we keep that sharing in Match if we have separate AppleIDs?

This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data. Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted. Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.

When I first got my phone it worked perfectly fine with the wifi. Although later on I began to have problems connecting it. It will randomly disconnect from the wifi and when I try to retype the password it tells me it is wrong, although it is right. It will eventually work but in its own time, a message will pop up and allow me to type in the password and it will work. But sometimes it takes an hour or more and sometime it takes 10 minutes. I've seen where other people have had this problem but I don't know how to fix it. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my phone or if it's with my wifi. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Does this happen with all Wi-Fi hotspots? A specific one?
Have you tried forgetting the Wi-Fi connection and then reconnecting to it?
What about power cycling the Wi-Fi router? -
What is the difference between wifi and the 3G plus wifi?
I want to get an ipad for myself and I have no idea what the difference is between the regular wifi and the 3G plus wifi. If somebody could explain the difference to me so I can decide which one to get I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance!
On the iPad if you use wifi you have to be close to a wifi access point either in your home or at a location such as Starbucks or Paanera. This connection normally will transfer data faster than 3G. However, 3G will give you access in areas where there is mobile telephone service from Verizon or AT&T albeit at a slower data transfer rate than wifi.
Wifi will be cheaper than 3G since you'll have to subscribe to 3G service from Verizon or AT&T.
BTW, you won't be able to use "3G plus wifi" at the same time. -
IPhone 6 Wifi and Blutooth not working after update!
I updated my iPhone 6 this weekend and did not back it up before doing so. I now notice that my WiFi and Bluetooth are off and not working! I can't turn the back on. I reset the phone, I even reset all the network settings, but can not turn them on. I also noticed that I am not getting text an emails as quick. My iPad Air is fine, but my phone is really screwed up. Any suggestions?
Also - I have to say this, what's up with Apple lately? Why so many issues with updates lately? I (and everyone else) pay a lot of money for these devices and the service, how about putting out updates that don't screw everything up for a change.P90X Dad wrote:

And it was unwise to not make a backup prior to updating. That's contrary to what Apple recommends: [Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support] (Before you update Back up your device to iCloud or iTunes.)

Can anyone help me? Why does my ipad kick me out of FB? Sometimes to the 'settings' page and sometimes to the desk top? This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
I used the wrong password to join my new belkin wifi. Now that I have the correct password, I can not get the to the join screen with the space to type in the password. I continue to get the unable to join message. I have put the touch to sleep and I have turned on and off the wifi and join options on the Network screen page. Does anyone know how to get pass this block of the wrong password to a new page that will allow me to type in the correct password. I see there is a option that asks if I want to reset the network settings.. is that what I should do? and what does it erase when I do that? Thanks for any input anyone has.
Yes. Reset network settings. Head to Settings -> General -> Reset and tap Reset Network Settings.

Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.
