If I am walking about or driving. Talking to my buddy on the phone and walk into my house where there is WiFi... Does the Iphone start using the WiFi and VOIP me or am I still munching up what little minutes I have?

The internet you use when your on the go is part of your AT&T plan, all plans include unlimited data.
The internet you use at home or where ever else there is wifi is payed for by who ever owns that wifi station.

The two things to try first are renewing your network lease, forgetting the network and if that doesn't work to reset all networks. You might have tried one of these but I'll repeat the steps just to make sure.
Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the blue arrow to the right of your network name > Renew Lease
If that doesn't work then
Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the blue arrow to the right of your network name > Forget this Network
If that doesn't work
Settings > General > Networks > Reset All Networks > then reset your iPhone by
Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.

So you started downloading it and it won't finish? Hold the home (circle) and lock (top of phone) buttons at the same time untill a power off slider comes up. Turn off your phone and when you turn it back on it will ask you for your password to restart the download. Click cancel and it should cancel the download.

IPhone 6 Wifi and Blutooth not working after update!

I updated my iPhone 6 this weekend and did not back it up before doing so. I now notice that my WiFi and Bluetooth are off and not working! I can't turn the back on. I reset the phone, I even reset all the network settings, but can not turn them on. I also noticed that I am not getting text an emails as quick. My iPad Air is fine, but my phone is really screwed up. Any suggestions?
Also - I have to say this, what's up with Apple lately? Why so many issues with updates lately? I (and everyone else) pay a lot of money for these devices and the service, how about putting out updates that don't screw everything up for a change.

And it was unwise to not make a backup prior to updating. That's contrary to what Apple recommends: [Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support] (Before you update Back up your device to iCloud or iTunes.)

When my wife and I upgraded to OSX Mavericks the person I was talking to on apple support said I could use My apple ID and password to up grade on my wife's computer also. Well after we got finished she had all my Info from my computer on hers. It took about 6 hours to install the whole upgrade. They said if you have any problems just to call back and we will help. Here it is on a Sunday and I call every 5 minutes and all I get is a busy signal. If they are not open on Sunday's then why don't the just say so.The number I keep calling is 1-888-263-3394.I don't understand anything about iCloud, maybe thats why all my Info is on hers to. Larry

My wife uses my Apple ID and password to download and install all her software because that way we only pay for it once and get essentially a family license. Otherwise we would each have to purchase and pay for our own copy. However, that only applies when we are purchasing software from the App Store or the iTunes store. We each have our own individual iCloud accounts where we store our personal Contact, Calendar, and other data. You can change the Apple ID on your wife's computer by going to System Preferences > Accounts and choosing her account then clicking on Apple ID: Set.
Now if you want to make things more intertwined you and your wife can share your contacts, calendars etc with one another with read only or read write priveleges.

Sorry, but you are describing many different problems all in one go. Have you changed your FaceBook account and the passwords for all your email accounts ?
You say you have changed all the passwords for all the accounts you use, including your Apple/iTunes account if you have one. If this hasn't done the trick I suggest you restore your iPad to factory conditions, set it up again from scratch, and download the things you've paid for again. You will not need to pay for things bought through your iTunes account again.

Means that the iPad and the Apple TV box both have to be in range of the wireless router when this wasn't a restriction before. Apple TV could be anywhere as long as it was connected to the same wireless router via ethernet cable. Seems like an unnecessary thing to restrict.

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

Skype Abroad - No Wifi and No Data Roaming

I will be going on a trip to Turkey in a few weeks, and I am trying to understand if I can make calls with the Skype app on my Droid without a wifi connection and with data roaming turned off. I thought I read somewhere that Skype has it's own 3G network or some other method that I can use to make calls with the Skype app. I would be buying Skype credit in advance. Is what I am saying possible?
My goal is to be able to use Skype to make phone calls without wifi and without getting charged for data roaming by cell phone carrier. Thank you for your help.

The poster was asking how he can use Skype app abroad, without roaming charges, without any internet connection. This is not possible, unfortunately.
If we are talking about SGO usage in Turkey, this won't work either, as there are no local SGO numbers there.

My wife and I have the same Verizon Ellipsis 7 MV7A we received from Verizon. Why does mine show ROM of 5gib but hers shows 1gib? She keeps being told she is out of app space.

My wife and I both have a Verizon Ellipsis 7 MV7A tablet. She has been getting messages to the effect 'insufficient app storage space". My tablet shows total ROM of 5 Gib while hers shows total ROM of 1 Gib. We both show Total space of 8 Gib. I have cleared cache and uninstalled apps but apps being updated are failing. Help! Thanks.

I'm talking about ROM. I have lots of available RAM. I got the "Available app space" to 143MB by removing updates to some apps. These were some of the pre-loaded apps that we are not using. The minute it wants to update other apps (pre-loaded) the available app space goes down until the “Insufficient space available” message appears.

IOS 8.1.2 breaks Wifi and Bluetooth on iPhone 4s

Since I upgraded my iPhone 4s to IOS 8.1.2, i am unable to use wifi or bluetooth.
My wifi button is greyed out and I cannot turn it on.
Bluetooth will just display a spinning wheel when i turn it on.
I have tried resetting network settings twice, multiple re-boots/re-sets. Toggling Airplane mode. Turning off iCloud. All to no avail.
Just to be clear, this is not an intermittent issue or a slowdown or anything like that.
IOS 8.1.2 has completely disabled wifi and bluetooth.
Anyone else having these problems or got a resolution?

Yes, but first time in the several years to have a problem. Using Outlook on Mac with MS Exchange Server. I have Exchange set up on both iPhone and iPad. Talked to IT and they are making sure MS Exchange Server is fully updated tonight.

My wife and I purchased iPhone 5's 14 months ago and both began having the exact same battery percentage issues where the phone would shutdown at above 50% and would only turn back on after getting plugged back in or waiting 5 minutes. We took it to the apple store and they said we need to pay $140 to have them replace our batteries in order to fix it. We have been loyal customers of Apple for years with a purchase of almost every iPhone model. However, I'm dissapointed we are not even able to get two years out of our batteries anymore without having to pay extra for it. I'm seriously considering other phones when we upgrade this year. Is anyone else having this problem and just as frustrated as me? Is this a systemic defective battery issue?

Home WiFi and Password won't connect...

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I'm such a newbie to WiFi connecting that I couldn't find a clear enough answer in the search results.
The problem is, my neighbor came to me after his older Dell Inspiron laptop finally went belly-up and he was forced to buy a new laptop. He loves my Macs and begged me to take him down to the Apple store and help him buy a Mac laptop. He ended up with a white MacBook with most hardware he could get. I told him the transition was going to be a bit frustrating at first but he would eventually get the hang of it. "Will I be able to connect to my in-house Wifi network?" "Of course," was my answer. We have so much WiFi in the neighborhood that I have held off installing my Airport Extreme and setting up WiFi in my own home.
He had "The Geek Squad" come out several years ago and they set up his "Belkin" router and he's been a happy camper with his Dell now for several years. Once the MacBook was up and running he tried connecting to his WiFi and got the familiar password box. He put his password in and received a error message that it was unrecognized. Apparently he is using or has Wep.
I am at a total loss guiding him on how to resolve the problem. Where do I start and if there is an easy step by step answer please post it.

David, I have to be honest here and say no, neither one of us knows anything about the router or where to even find the settings for the router - would that be in a separate program installed by "The Geek Squad" when they installed it over three years ago? Or would those settings be somewhere in the WindowsXP operating system (I've never used Windows anything and have no idea where to look). He is disabled, fearful of messing around with his current working Wifi setup (just getting him to reset it took hours of talking), worrying that he will be without access. He knows nothing about setting up any kind of hardware and it took me quite a bit of time to figure out he has dsl through AT&T.
If I can get him to shut off the WEP so his network is "open" (he fears someone in the neighborhood will break into his computer if he drops the security) we can then check the password problem. His trust (of me) will come when I can give him good advice, i.e., "Go into your utilities folder and start your router program, uncheck the box for WEP security..." (do Windows users have a ulities folder?).
It took me a day and a half to get him to understand how to install a program in his Applications folder. Despite my showing him repeatedly, he would place the cursor on the .app and point the cursor to the Applications folder, then run the .app (from its original mounted box), close it and it would disappear (because he was not dragging the .app into the Applications folder, just pointing to it).
So this is what I'm dealing with. But all of this advice and guidance is broadening my own knowledge and giving me more confidence when I deal with him so it is very much appreciated.

My Wife and I share an apple ID, I recently changed to an android device but can no longer recieve messages from iphone users.

I've unregistered my device online but left hers on there. I'm afraid if I delete the account she will lose all her apps. I'm at a loss now, I've talked to apple support and they assured me it would be taken care of and told me to wait 24 hours. It has been 48 and nothing has changed.

If you go into messages then press SEND AND RECEIVE you can delete the accounts there that you don't want to receive stuff from and still share Apple ID.
You might need to do this on all devices wife and I had the same problem and this worked fine

Wifi and mobile data problems

I am reporting a problem regarding the wifi and mobile data on my Xperia Z1. Whenever I lock my phone, the wifi and mobile data keeps turning on by itself again and again. I have tried to turning the "automatic turn on wifi when sleep" to "never" but it keeps turning "always" whenever I lock my phone, so does the mobile data. I look forward to some replies.

You might need tocharge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device). Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose
