WIFI at starbucks and McD's
I have the New Ipad and after moving to ios 6 I have had problems connecting to free wifi used at Starbucks and McDonalds. A lot of the time I can connect but safari runs super slow and my iphone has no problems when I try using it. I have no problems when I am at home. I have looked at other peoples problem on the discution boards.
I have been having the same problem since upgrading. It usually takes me 10 to 15 minutes to get it working...I have no idea how, usually an iPad reboot. It's seems that my 3G and wifi are colliding with one another. I was at Starbucks one day and downloaded a song from my ICloud...apparently I was not on wifi and was on 3G...the IPad continued to download music all day long and drained my data usage allowance...I didn't even know until I received the warning.
Something is wrong in IOS 6 and I cannot control the wifi and 3G other than turning them on and off as needed...which is annoying. They don't play nice together.

MacBook Air and wifi at Starbucks
I went to the local Starbucks cafe in Seoul as I usually do. I have connected to the internet many times in the past without any problem at Starbucks. I use the wireless connection. I just find the provider with the strongest connection and I type the name in and it connects straightaway.
Today, I had some trouble. I enquired at the counter and the guy gave me a brochure. It said that there was a new system in place. It was a wifi connection. It said that I just type in google and it will take me to their page and there is a free internet connection option with Google. I think Starbucks and Google partnered to do this. It said once I got that done, I need to put in my social security number etc.
But the problem is I couldn't get the Google page to come up.
When I tried to connect using the older method, I managed to get the homepage (Yahoo!) to come up but any other pages would take a long time to load and some would not load even after an hour. I could just see the header and none of the information on the webpage below it.
So my question is: does this MacBook Air (1.86 GHz) 120GB that I bought 2 months ago have wifi? Or do I need to get something else - like a USB modem or something like that?
I do not understand what wifi is exactly.
At home, I have a wireless connection with the internet provider I have.
If I have the wifi built in, how come I can't connect to the internet at Starbucks well, and I can't get that google page to come up?BEWARE... Never. let me say NEVER GIVE YOUR SS# to log in for free wifi. You may have just had your identity stolen. That is a way of getting your id and they could have hacked your computer and had all your personal info off your computer too. All of your personal info (name,address ect) are all on your computer and you may have gave them the only other thing needed to completely steal your Identity. I have heard of this happening in hotels that have wifi in them. Others will set up a wireless access in a room nearby and steal identities of the hotel guest and have them cleaned out before they even get home.

Got the dreaded no wifi on my wife's iPhone 4S. Wifi greyed out and no luck with the reset network instructions. Why isn't Apple addressing this issue? We are a family of Apple product users, 2 ipads, an ipad mini, 4 iPhones but one isn't working! Issue began whenwe upgraded the operating system.....
Come on Apple.....get this issue sorted out!Just out of warranty. This is a software issue. everything was ok until the software update. Apple just need to sort it out.

My Mid 2010 MacBook Pro wifi keeps disconnecting, and doesn't turn back on. Help.

Here's what's happening:
I'll be browsing the internet probably surfing reddit (because what else do college kids do right?) and I'll click one of the links I'm interested in:
The page won't load at all, as if I have NO internet connection.
Click the wifi icon in the status bar. Before several networks (not just my current network) would show up. Now ONLY the network I'm currently connected to shows up.
Turn off the wifi to try to "refresh" it.
Turn Wifi back on. Now it will say "Searching for network" and show that I'm connected to a network, but the bars never fill the status bar icon. If I go to System Preferences > Network and try to turn on the wifi there it lets me click the button, but nothing happens.
Get frustrated that the wifi WILL NOT TURN BACK ON and restart computer
Start browsing the internet again or doing whatever college students do on the internet until it disconnects again.

What I've done to try to aleviate this:
Made a genius bar apointment. I'm out of warrenty, but he did confirm for me that my wifi card is working as expected, and it's not a hardware issue, but more than probable a software issue. He did some cool trick where he went to Library>Preferences>System Configurations and deleted the entire contents (I think this is where the network information is stored according to some of the plists I looked through) then restarted the machine and everything seemed to work ok for a while, but the problem came back. I actually still do this sometimes when it happens but results seem to be the same every time (Plus I have to re enter network information when I do this).
Genius bar guy suggested that I try reinstalling Mountain Lion. Didn't want to get rid of my data, so I just did an install over my current build. This took some time, but it seemed to work for a while, but alas the problem came back.
Genius bar guy suggested (as a last resort) a fresh install. So That's what I did. I backed up my computer (Really I just coppied my documents folder and music folder to an external. I did not use a time machine back up because "ain't nobody got time for dat") and I then formatted my hard drive (Which is an SSD if that may have anything to do with anything), and installed mountain lion again. For a while things seemed good, but the problem came back.
For clarification:
It has happened on multiple networks, not just the same network.
On top of that, every time it happens I have other devices connected to the same network and they work fine.
It has not always happened, this recently started about 2 weeks ago.
I have not recently installed any software that could have possibley done this (I use mostly MAS store stuff with the exception of Bartender, TotalFinder, and xQuarts, but all 3 of those had long been installed before I had to format my machine)
I can't really force the problem, but it seems to happen sometimes after the machine falls asleep, but I know for a fact it's also happened mid use (as described above)
Can anyone give me any kind of clue as to what is happening, why, and how I can fix it?Years of fine internet use via WIFI then randomly it starts dropping then one day (weeks later) it is no longer accessible at all and even saying "No hardware installed" when I click on WIFI icon at the top right on screen. I have had numerous laptop technicans befuddled by this WIFI problem and most concluding with how my WIFI card must be broken and that I will need to buy a new one. The last suggestion I had on the matter was to buy a USB wifi dongle.
So I ended up buying this one, http://www.asus.com/nz/Networking/USBN10_NANO/Unfortunately my macbook pro didn't want to read the install disc and it didn't autorun so it didn't work. After reading more forums I saw that you could download the program from the net and sure enough it worked.. BUT STRANGER when I took the USB dongle out the WIFI was still working!! The program appears to have reminded my four year old macbook pro that it is indeed WIFI capable.

You then click on a file when its downloaded and a file called MAC will appear, then click on install. Within 5 minutes you should have your WIFI back. My macbook pro crashed again today but without having to get the shortest ethernet cable you've ever seen out again - I was able to install the program again and WIFI was up and running once more. Moral of the story - didn't need to spend any money to fix this and not even using the USB dongle.

This also worked on a MacBook that lost its WIFI when a user accounts password was changed and the keychain password wasn't known to them - another random way to lose WIFI apparently -
I am running OS 10.8.2 and everytime I wake my computer from sleep, the wifi is disconnected and I have to use the Network Diagnostics assistant to reconnect to my router. Is there any way to get it to not disconnect everytime? I have resorted to just leaving Network Diagnostics open and just rejoining the network every single time I wake the computer. Any help here?

I was downloading podcast video in my itouch using wifi, but suddenly my wifi got disconnected and now there is a link in my podcast list which on opening uses wifi to play that video. I want to delete that link. Right to left swapping is not working.

Are you trying to print through the airport express wirelessly or the built in wireless of the lexmark? If you want to use the airport express, there is no need to mess with the wireless printing on the lexmark at all. The airport express will be easy to set up, all the wireless setups through the printers are a pain. -

I have an IPad mini WiFi (not cellular) and an IPhone 5. I use the bluetooth connection between both devices when on the road. I downloaded a navigation system on my IPad using GPS positioning. Is the Bluetooth connection working to use GPS positioning on the IPad using IPhone 5 as the hotspot?

I would advise that you not set up a second Apple ID. It's really not necessary - having two Apple IDs won't affect how iTunes works with your iPads - and will just complicate matters. Each iPad will be treated independently and can be set to sync only the items you want on that particular iPad. If you really want to keep the two iPads separate, set up different iTunes libraries and have only those items you want on the related iPad in that library, rather than a different Apple ID. If you plan not to use a computer and just download directly to the iPads, you can again choose what apps and content each iPad gets.
But answering your specific question, you can have content from up to five iTunes Store accounts on any one computer or iPad. To create a new iTunes Store account, you'll need a different email address, and from there you just create the account the same way you did the first one.

My daugther' iphone apple id is under my wife's email and now all music and pictures are attached to that id. My wife now has an ipad and I am looking at using the existing id during set up? Thus, I would like to establish new apple id for daughter, associated to her email account, however I do not want to lose or share her music/photos, nor share with my wife's id. Is this possible, or is it best just to establish a new id for my wife, and then change the email address associated with the existing apple id?
well if you establish a new apple id for your wife that would be best unless you email all of the existing photos to your email and then when you have established a new id then you log into your email on the new id and save all of your pics onto it by pressing on tthe pic for about 5-8 seconds then options will come up and you press the save to my album ..as for the music if you can copy and paste, through computer, the songs then awesome!

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases. -
When my wifi is off and I'm away from my home connection - it shows wifi off (unless I turn it on to check my email etc.) - and in the settings cellular it shows "voice only". Will I be able to receive and send texts in those settings? Or check voicemail. I had wanted to keep my email from coming in all the time and only want to check it periodically - so I turn ON my wifi when I want to check my email. But when my wifi was off away from home- I hadn't seemed to be getting my texts. So- do I need to keep wifi roaming connected when away from home to receive and send my texts in real time. (which is what I want) or am I still able to send and receive texts with my wifi off when I'm away from home. (When I'm home I am connected to my home data plan automatically through wifi and I get texts when I'm home - but I'm thinking I'm not getting texts in real time - is it because my wifi is off when I'm away from home? My cellular shows voice only when my wifi is off away from home. Am I doing it right to receive and send texts away from home? Or do I need to open up the wifi in order to receive and send text messages. I know that I would need to turn on wifi roaming - which will use data - for email checking or sending - as well as to use browsing apps and now I'm guessing to receive voice messages I may have missed? How do I get my wife's photos and video from her iCloud to my iPad?
How do I get my wife's photos and video from her iCloud to my iPad. She no longer has an iDevice and I want to retrieve some really sentimental photos and videos of my grandson. I've logged on to her iCloud account on my iPad, but don't know what to do next.

TonyHer camera roll photos and videos would be included in her backup. Restoring her backup to the iPad should recover them.
Start by creating a current backup of your iPad that you can restore your data from later. It's faster if you do this on your computer using iTunes; if you can't, create a backup in your iCloud account. If you can back up to your computer, do this by connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Back Up. Then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
Then erase the iPad and restore her iCloud backup as explained here: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph12521. When it's done, import the recovered photos and videos to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then erase the iPad again and restore the backup you made earlier, either from iTunes or from iCloud depending on where you backed it up.
If you want the photos back on the iPad, put them in a folder and sync them to your iPad by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing. If you want to videos back on your iPad, import them to your iTunes library (File>Add to Library), then sync them to your iPad from the Movies tab of your iTunes sync settings. You will then find them in the Home Movies section of the Videos app on your iPad. Just so you are aware, photos that you sync to your iPad can only be removed later by syncing them off your iPad (by deselecting the folder on the Photos tab and syncing again). They can't be deleted on the iPad itself.
