Wifi between 2 buildings, small range

Hi,
One of my clients needs to interconnect his wifi network between 2 buildings.
The distance is around 30 meters.
It shoud looks like that :
Network RJ45 -> AP -------30m-----> AP (in other building)
I saw the aironet 1600 series could be fine to do it, and u can connect an antenna on it.
But i still wonder if i really need an antenna or not, because i dont really know the range that the 1600 series can provide.
If i really need one, must i take an exterior antenna, and do i need to put one on the AP in the other building ?
I saw the AIR-ANT2566P4W-R, but it's a bit expensive.
Thanks for the help :)

Hello loiccruchade,
I would suggest you to get a site survey done first.
And Aironet 1600 Access Points are Indoor Access Points.

  • Wireless connection between 2 buildings

My office is in a small separate structure on my residential property about 100 feet away from my 2 story house (both buildings are mostly wood frame, a lot of windows).
In the office is my computer system – internet access and a simple network:
    Cable Modem
    Linksys 2.4 GHz Wireless-B Router
    2 PC's with Wireless-B
    Mac Pro
Everything works excellent inside the office building (using wireless for the network and wired for the internet).
I just purchased a MacBook Pro for the house to access the internet and my files on my PC in the office. I tested it with the Linksys and just barely picked up some signal but mostly nothing.
I tried a Netgear WNDR3300 - their latest dual-band, with 5.0 N and 2.4 G. A very nice unit, worked out of the box, but no real additional signal strength.
I was thinking about trying 2 AirPort Extremes, one in the office building and one in the house.
What is someone’s best suggestion on how to create a solid wireless connection between 2 buildings (about 100 feet apart), not necessarily Apple equipment, and short of running an Ethernet cable between the 2 buildings.
I would like full wireless and wired access inside the office, and full wireless and wired access inside the house.

Do you have direct line-of-sight between the two buildings?

  • Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine, tried solutions from other threads with no luck, just thought i'd see if anyone else had any ideas, thanks.

Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine so the problem seems confined to Windows 7. I've tried solutions from other threads -
Making sure everything is allowed through firewall
    Rebooting phone/laptop/router
    Disabling ipv6
Disabling all networks except the one curently on
    Re-installing iTunes
    Restoring iPhone
No luck with any of those unfortunately so i just thought i'd see if anyone else is still without wifi sync after trying those as well and if you ever found a fix, thanks.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

  • Difference between select-option and range

    Hi,
wat are the difference between  select-option and range
where u have to use those and give the syntax for the range option.
if u use range option in report programming there is any advantages ?
      pls reply for this ..
    thanks
    rams

    Hi,
    Not much of a difference,
    A Select-Option could be like,
    SELECT-OPTIONS sel FOR f
And a Range could be like,
DATA: BEGIN OF sel OCCURS 10,
             SIGN(1),
             OPTION(2),
             LOW  LIKE f,
             HIGH LIKE f,
          END   OF sel.
Here they both function the same. But then the Select-Options has numerous options associated with it than the RANGE option.
    Hope it helps,
    Pradip Parmar.

  • Best way to capture data every 5 ms (milli-seconds) in the .vi diagram when using "Time between Points, and Small Loop Delay tools" ?

    - Using LabView version 6.1, is there anyway to change the "Time Between Points" indicator of (HH.MM.SS) to only (mm.ss), or to perhaps only (.ss) ?
    - Need to set the data sampling rate to capture every 5 milliseconds, but the defaults is always to 20 or greater; even when the "Small Loop Delay" variable is adjusted down.
    Thank you in advance.

I have no idea what "Time between Points, and Small Loop Delay tools" is. If this is some code you downloaded, you should provide a linke to it. And, if you want to acquire analog data every 5 milliseconds from a DAQ board, that is possible with just about every DAQ board and is not related to the version of LabVIEW. You simply have to set the sample rate of the DAQ board to 200 samples/sec. If it's digital data, then there will be a problem getting consistent 5 msec data.

  • Max date data between the input date range.

    Hi
I need to get the maximum date data's with in the date range.
Ex: this is sample date but , total records in DB around 2000.
    NAME DATE Product1 Product2
    aaaa 01/05/2011 5 5
    aaaa 03/05/2011 3 3
    bbbb 04/05/2011 6 6
    bbbb 07/05/2011 2 2
    aaaa 06/05/2011 1 1
case :1) If the user input date is 01/05/2011 to 05/05/2011
    then the result should be
    aaaa 3 3
    bbbb 6 6
case :2) If the user input date is 01/05/2011 to 10/05/2011
    then the result should be
    aaaa 1 1
    bbbb 2 2
so my result is purely based on max date between the input date range.
    how to achieve the result

  • Cwcustom colormap style on small range when overall range is large

Hi, I am attaching the colormap example that David Mc., and NI Applications Engineer sent me a while back explaining using colorlookup tables. I modified this project to have a data range of 0 to 10001. There is a sin wave located in the range 9999 to 10001 and a single like of 0's to make the range huge of the overall scale. The problem I have is, I set my values of my custom colormap to being 9999, 10000, and 10001 respectively and they don't display in their ranges. If the 0's of the overall range are taken out so that the range only encompasses -1 to 1, this method works fine.
Am I doing something wrong? When a values is assigned to the colorlookup table, the respective value of the data shou
ld be that color correct? Why does this not work on a small range if the overall range is larger. It seems to me that it should.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
When using a custom color map, the 3D Graph decimates the data to display as much of the data range it can. It doesn't take the axes ranges into account, it just tries to plot the surface over the entire range.
The large range you are using (0 to 10001 = 10001 point range) pretty much ends up looking like one point at the end of the spectrum. If you switch to a smaller range like 0 to 101 (= 101 point range), you can see how the smaller range can be better displayed by the 3D Graph.
I would suggestion you filter your data, and only plot the points that matter to you (i.e. the ones that fit inside your 3D axis range).
However, the situation you've run into might be a good use case for an enhancement to the 3D Graph: allow you to programmatic
ally control the decimation by setting a "window size". You can visit http://ni.com/contact and click "Product Feedback" to submit a product suggestion for this and any other features you'd like to see.

  • Best way to get internet between two buildings???

Hello all! I have some questions about a possible setup I am thinking of running.
I have building that has internet coming into it. 15yds away, I have another building (which is brick) that has no internet options. I was thinking about buying two Airport Extreme's, making one the base and using the other one in the other building the access point for WDS. Then buy a couple of the Airport Expresses to push the signal throughout that building.
Thoughts on this? Is there a better way to get internet between two buildings (without running cables) and then push it through out that building?
I am open to any an all suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Grant

    Welcome to the discussions!
Ethernet is always the best choice for signal strength and reliability. If you do not want to run ethernet cable to the second building, your options are down to ethernet powerline adapters and wireless.
The ethernet powerline adapters work by transmitting the ethernet signal over the AC power line. The difficulty here may be that the other building is on a different electrical circuit, so it may or may not work depending on how the electrical wiring is configured. An electrician could run tests to see if this would work.
The least reliable option is wireless. To have the best chance of working well, the "sending" and "receiving" routers need to be able to "see" each other through a window or other opening. Be sure to test with a laptop in the second location to see if you will have a strong enough signal to work with before you go this route.

  • Range of Airport Extreme between two buildings

We will soon have a studio in our barn 130 feet from the house wired with cable internet. Will Airport Extreme send the signal that far and work well—no trees, clear line of sight, with basic barn construction and insulation in the studio/apartment walls between base and eventual second computer.

In theory it should work. But since it really depends on the RF environment at your location, the only way you will know for sure is to try it.

  • Wireless setup between 2 buildings

I need to connect 2 buildings wirelessly to share internet connection.
Both buildings are about 100m apart and are visible from one another. A few trees are in between, not really big nor dense ones.
    Connection speed needed:
No more than 1MBPs as I just want to share the internet, not exchange data between computers accross buildings.
    Current setup:
Building 1 has the internet connection ADSL with the modem.
building 2 has an intranet with a linksys router 100MBPS, a linksys gigabit switch.
I have a spare airport base station (white).
    Question:
If I connect the white base station to the adsl modem in building 1, and if I buy an aiport express or extreme, put it on the roof of building 2 and connect it to the intranet...
Can I share the internet across the building?
    G4 2*1.8GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   SATA 300+250GB

    Hi again Micha'l
"Do you think 2 ranges of 50m will make a 100m range?"
Serious faux pas on my part, that. My only excuse is that I wasn't properly awake when I posted that. It doesn't work like that. Yes they would need something else in between and the Linksys repeater might do it. Each base station would still be operating at/beyond the limits of its range in communicating with the Linksys.
I think I'm going to bow out gracefully on this one and apologize for having fed you erroneous information in my previous post. In the absence of any more enlightened advice here, I would recommend seeking the services of a networking specialist.
Final thought, given that you don't actually need to network the computers, why not have a second internet connection in the second building?
    Best of luck with it,
    Adrian

  • Bridge between 2 buildings

    hi,
I need an advice for a bridge solution. 2 buildings, 150meters between them. What cisco equipment to use for this case. I'm a beginer in wireless. I really need your help

First, keep in mind that making a recommendation without being able to do a site survey, knowing the budget, seeing where you have access (window to window? rooftop to rooftop?), or knowing what the bandwidth requirements and size of the LAN on either side would be tricky, at best.
ASSUMING that you have good line-of-sight, access, and reasonable bandwidth needs, check out htese application guides for the 1300 and 1400 series outdoor bridges:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps5279/prod_brochure09186a0080230777.html
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5861/prod_brochure09186a0080230777.html
It may also be possible and / or desirable to use a 1200 series in a bridging role with the appropriate antenna.
Generally speaking, 150 meters is not a problem. You must have clear line of sight, plus some distance to accommodate the Fresnal Zone. The application guides I linked to include a calculation tool to determine if you have enough space to handle a true clear path.
One of the primary differences between the 1300 and 1400 bridges is the band (2.4G vs, 5G). IF you have a lot of activity in the 2.4, then you may want to go with the 1400 - there isn't as much traffic in the 5G band. As part of your site survey, you'll wnat to scan the bands to see what the level of traffic & intereference is for your area.
Give the App guides a look and let us know what other questions you have. If you are new to this, it might be better to refer the planning & inplementation to an experienced contractor. There a lot of gotchas .... ranging from "This will keep the system from working" to "This is danerous and can get someone killed or seriously injured."
Also keep in mind that there are usually local electrical codes that must be followed (safety & grounding) and federal regulations that must be followed (power, antenna implementation).
A professional wireless contractor will know these things and build a safe, functional system that won't kill you or your network in bad weather.
    Good Luck
    Scott

  • How to establish connection between two different IP Range

    Hi All,
Currently in my office  there are two different ip range that we are using one for the Wi-FI(192.168.1.X) & 2nd  for local machine & servers 192.168.2.x series ip.
In current situation if any Wi-Fi user(Laptop User) wants to communicate with local machine or server then he has to switch from Wi-Fi to Lan.
So is there any way to provide communication between Wi-Fi & local network.
if this happen then there will be no need to switch from Wi-Fi to Lan, Wi-Fi user who has ip range 192.168.1.x is easily communicate with local machine & server(192.168.2.x).
