Wifi/Bluetooth hardware cards for HP G6-2016TX

I have a HP G6-2016TX purchased in India last year,
It has a Ralink Wifi and Bluetooth card RT5390
The problem since I have upgraded to WIndows 8 is that Bluetooth is not working (nor is it working on Ubuntu 13.04)
After browsing thru many forums i have concluded to change the laptop's bluetooth **bleep** wifi card (as it is combo card)
The driver page lists drivers for Intel, Qualcom Arethos, Broadcom chipsets so i guess there must be a card of some other company (other than Ralink) which will work  with my laptop model (HP G6-2016TX Indian version)
CAn anyone tell me which cardss are compatible with my model of laptop
Thanks!

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Chapter 3, page 17 lists the supported wireless cards with HP part numbers.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03233548.pdf
I would imagine the Broadcom or Intel 2230 combo cards would work in your model and the BT would work with W8.
I would steer away from the Atheros card because of the "Select Models Only" note.
The only cards that will work must have the HP part numbers on them.
Just don't go out and buy any old Intel 2230 card, for example.

Hello everyone. As you can see from the title on my tablet is not working wifi and bluetooth. When turning wifi tablet is reset and continues to be off and on until it forcibly turns off, and when you turn it on again, and do not touch wifi everything is normal and there are no problems with resetting. Can someone help me and give suggestion to solve this stupid problem.  I'm from Croatia and I'm bad with the English writing.

  • Raid cards for mac pro 2.66

i would like to set up a hardware card for my os as raid 0
    (2 10,000 rpm hard drives)
and a hardware raid 1 for my data.(same/separate card ??)
are there any sudgestions on makes and models and compatability?
i am aware of the software raids provided by the os, i've heard they are not as reliable and fast as the harware solution, agree, disagree???

Yeah they say the software raid is good and I can't say first hand but I have heard good reports. In general I prefer hardware RAID but i setup server not clients so. Was using acard.com stuff for a bit but there offerings have gone down on the mac side. My current card of choice is Highpoint's Rocket RAID.
    http://www.highpoint-tech.com/
Card works good and drivers all appear to be up-to-date with Intel based Mac's now. Nice web-GUI to the Raid controller. My only complaint could be OS related as opposed to driver but the Hot-Swap won't work right. In order for me to swap i need to drop the drives from the server and pull them. (alarms alarms, lol) Then put my swaps in. Seems the release call from the web-GUI does not kick the drive out right or the Mac OS won't let go of them even after un-mounting.

  • Software or Hardware RAID for LVM

Well, I've been looking into setting up a RAID for my home server.  I've been trying to decide between a software raid or buying a relatively cheap SATA controller and using it for a hardware RAID.  I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons of buying a cheap hardware card for use rather than simply using a software solution.
Are there any negatives to using LVM with either setup versus the other?  Have software solutions become decent enough to be relied on?
If you recommend a hardware solution, a card suggestion would be appreciated.  Preferably something under $50.. if that's even possible for a semi reliable card.
I'm also curious as to whether there would be an issue with software raid if it is run across multiple SATA controllers.  Can you even run a single hardware RAID using 2 separate controllers?
    Appreciate any advice!
EDIT: I'd also appreciate any information on the processor overhead of running a software RAID 5 with 5-6 disks.  The home server is just an old Core2 and doesn't have all that much power to it.

Stick with the software RAID, more flexible and probably more reliable. Hardware RAID only - arguably - becomes worth it if you have fancy stuff like a battery backed write cache, etc...
I'd avoid using RAID 5 and go for something like RAID 1+0, look up 'RAID 5 write hole'.
The processor overhead should be quite low even on a Core2.
The wiki has a bunch on info on RAID and LVM:
    e.g. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/So … ID_and_LVM
Appreciate the info.  I've actually been reading over the RAID/LVM wiki over the past couple days making sure I get myself aligned to what needs to be done.
As far as avoiding RAID 5, I was specifically choosing it as it allows for some form of backup while giving me a large amount of hard drive space.  I will be using 6x2TB drives in the array and using a RAID1 would end up giving me half of it usable, RAID5 giving me 10TB usable.  Right now each of the drives are on their own so even with the write hole issues I'd assume I'd be better off with the RAID 5 then simply having the drives separate no?
I don't simply want to put all 6 drives into a LV as I'd be worried about one failing and losing more data than each drive on their own.

I spilled some red wine on my keyboard and i cannot connect to the internet any more. it says on the internet icon: Wi-fi: no harware installes. so i guess i need to get a new wifi card for my mac air. do i have to buy this from a apple store? i live fare away from an apple store. Also, I do have a macbook with software system:
System Version:          Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549). can I take out the wifi card from that mack and use that one for my mac air?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Consider yourself lucky that your MacBook is still working. Now, turn it off. Wine may have damaged other parts of your computer.
Then, take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller. It will be a very expensive repair, as it's not covered by warranty and the logic board has to be replaced. In some cases, it may be better to get a new MacBook.
If you can't take it to an Apple Store, contact with Apple > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

  • New wifi card for PowerBook G4 (2002, OS 10.4.11)

    Hello,
Can anyone recommend a wifi card for a PowerBook G4?
I've just bought a secondhand model, and I'd like to broaden its wifi capability. Being able to use WPA security would be a good start.
    - Richard

I bought the WiFi card from eBay. It's a Chinese clone of a Motorola WN825Gv3 (part number: 518565-001-00). Here's the old eBay link: http://bit.ly/XmW0Gb
I can't remember exactly what settings I used on my Powerbook – mainly because I clicked things at random until it worked – but I did have to click "renew lease" in WiFI settings to get the card to work.
I didn't have to change any settings on my router, but the card isn't compatible with 5Hz WiFi frequencies, or the "n" speed WiFi.
Other than having to renew the lease occasionally, the card works smoothly.

  • Wifi card for archlinux?

I want to buy a wifi card. How wifi card for archlinux, please?

The driver for prism2/2.5/3 chipsets is provided by the wlan-ng26 package, not by the kernel. It's a very mature and stable driver. If it's prism54, the original version is in the kernel, but you would need to check on prism54.org before using it - there have been various developments since.

  • Use smart card for 802.1x secured WiFi authentication

    Hi,
is it possible to use a certificate stored on a USB Security Token for WiFi 802.1x authentication?
I have setup a test environment with all required components (AD, Enterprise CA, NPS, WPA2-Enterprise capable WiFi Access Point, all required certificates, all Server 2012 R2 / Windows 8.1 Pro) and created a user certificate for WPA2-Enterprise secured
WiFi access (802.1x). Everthing works fine as long as the user certificate is stored in the local certificate store of the user's client computer: The user can connect to the WiFi network and the NPS logs show that the user has been authenticated correctly
    and granted access.
To test this scenario with a Smart Card (Safenet USB Token), I stored that same user certificate on the token (incl. private key). The Safenet software on the client computer automatically makes the certificate stored on the token available in the local
certificate store as soon as the token has been plugged in (checked via MMC Certificates snap-in). But the certificate can't obviously be used for the desired WiFi authentication: If I try to connect the secured WiFi (the same as in scenario 1) the connection
    fails.
As I'm using exactly the same certificate in both scenarios, I don't think there's anything wrong with the settings in the certificate, the NPS or any other infrastructure component. The reason for failure in scenario 2 must be lying somewhere in either
the local client computer configuration or in the Safenet software on the client computer.
I'm very familiar with all the PKI and authentication stuff, but I'm new to smart cards. Are there differences between different types of smart cards and for what purpose one can use them? (USB tokens, chip cards, virtual tokens, etc.?)
Has anybody experience in creating a 802.1x secured WiFi access with smart card based user certificates who could advise?
    Thanks + Best Regards
    Matt

    Hi,
I found some links form technet site which can be helpful in this case
    Network access authentication and certificates
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc759575(v=ws.10).aspx
Enable smart card or other certificate authentication
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc737336(v=ws.10).aspx
    Quote:
    Client certificate requirements
With EAP-TLS or PEAP-EAP-TLS, the server accepts the client authentication attempt when the certificate meets the following requirements:
The client certificate is issued by an enterprise CA or mapped to a user or computer account in Active Directory.
The user or computer certificate on the client chains to a trusted root CA, includes the Client Authentication purpose in EKU extensions (the object identifier for Client Authentication is 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.2), and fails neither the checks that are performed
by CryptoAPI and specified in the remote access policy nor the Certificate object identifier checks that are specified in IAS remote access policy.
The 802.1X client does not use registry-based certificates that are either smart card-logon or password-protected certificates.
For user certificates, the Subject Alternative Name (SubjectAltName) extension in the certificate contains the user principal name (UPN).
For computer certificates, the Subject Alternative Name (SubjectAltName) extension in the certificate must contain the client's fully qualified domain name (FQDN), which is also called the DNS name

  • Airport Express as wifi card for Xbox Live, then connect to Extreme network

My son just got xbox Live and we're trying to use Airport Express as wifi card for xbox (connected to xbox via ethernet). We use Airport Extreme as router for the house.
We're having trouble setting up Xbox Live, keep getting stuck at getting the xbox to communicate/access the web. Error reads "can't obtain IP address from router... make sure DHCP is enabled and has a large enough address range for all devices on network.. also make sure MAC filtering allows your console's MAC address or is disabled... "
We dont' know what else to do. I'm at wit's end before giving Gates $100... Anyone know how to get connected?
    Thank you!

You can also perform a simple test to verify if you have an internet connection at the ethernet port on the AirPort Express.
Move a laptop near the Express, turn off the wireless on the laptop, and connect to the Express using an ethernet cable. See if you can open your browser and get a good solid internet connection.
If you can, the Express is setup correctly and you know that you have an internet connection reaching all the way to the Xbox.
If you can't then there is a configuration error somewhere and it will need to be identified and corrected.

  • Can you not buy a internet card for a iPad without having to have wifi at your home

CCan. You not buy a internet card for a iPad without having wifi at your home?

You cannot buy an internet card for the iPad, but you can purchase a mobile hotspot or MIFI device to use as your connection to the internet. Yoy will need to purchase a data plan from a carrier in your area as well in order for this to work.
Google "MIFI devices or mobile hotspots" to see what is avalable in your area. I have this one.

  • Wanted: Apple Hardware RAID Card for Xserve G5

I have some questions regarding the original internal Apple Hardware RAID Card for an Xserve G5.
    1) Does it support native hardware RAID level 5?
    2) Does anyone know where I can find one of these cards? I can't even find them on eBay.
    3) I heard this card is based on an LSI board. Which model? Has anyone had success using the non-Apple version of the same model board in an Xserve G5 with internal Apple Drive Modules?
    4) How do you hook up this card? Do I put it in the PCI slot and move the SATA cables to it or does the presence of the card just automagically take over the drives?
    Thanks for all your help!

I heard this card is based on an LSI board. Which model?
Camelot is correct that this card is based on (is) the LSI Logic MegaRAID SATA 150-4 card:
    http://www.lsi.com/storagehome/products_home/internal_raid/megaraid_sata/megaraid_sata1504/index.html
However, it has custom Apple Firmware to support booting by a PPC Xserve G5 rather than a PC. Apple also provides a ported version of the LSI Logic "megaraid" program to manage the card.
There is a bug (well, at least one) in the Apple Firmware version that was fixed by LSI Logic in its PC version subsequent to Apple's branch off of the LSI Logic code tree for the firmware. Specifically, the card sometimes doesn't fully flush its write caches before it disconnects from the drive buses on graceful power down (doesn't happen on restart). Only known workaround is to turn off the write caches for all LUNs. I turned in a RADAR report (RADAR ID 4350243) under our support agreement back in November 2005, but no action since. I follow up every so often, but clearly this EOL product is not a priority.
Has anyone had success using the non-Apple version of the same model board in an Xserve G5 with internal Apple Drive Modules?
Won't work without the Apple firmware. Apple doesn't distribute the firmware. Been there, done that. Our Apple Hardware RAID card failed in an odd way shortly after installation - it still functioned as a RAID controller once booted from another drive, but you couldn't boot from it. believe that the firmware became corrupted, and that it could have been fixed by flashing the firmware using the "megaraid" program, but Apple Support didn't have a file to flash it with, so it was handled by an RMA exchange.
RAID 5 performance is degraded with the write caches off, but our load is not heavy. I guess you could script the turning off and flushing of the write caches prior to shutdown, and turn them back on again during the boot sequence, but you'd really have to be careful to handle things like restart to CD boot, etc. We value our data more than speed.
This was a very difficult bug to troubleshoot, because the RAID 5 made the mystery garbage blocks from space very hard to find repeatably. Finally came up with a repeatable test case. Fortunately, discovered while testing the Xserve prior to deployment, so no valuable data was lost.
