WiFi calling on the Z-10

Does anyone really know when and IF wi-fi calling will be available on the T-mobile network with the BB Z-10?  I get no signal at home and it is a must! Please advise.

  • Any new update regarding wifi calling on the samsung note 4?

my signal at home is hit and miss at the best of times. any update on activation date? cheers

EE are not saying if/when that device will get it. The only device that we is getting it next is EE own harrier device.

  • What does the WiFi calling indicator look like on Lumia 640.

I have a new Lumia 640 with Wifi calling. The EE setup instructions talk about getting a message from them and then within 24hrs being switched on and the phone will show a 'Wifi Calling Indicator' What is this as there is no reference in Lumia userguide or on EE search for this Icon. What does it look like? Also when the phone is restarted the Wifi calling stops working and the EE WIfi tile dissappears from the main screen.

Hi I have today had a chat with the call centre. My phone was obtained from the EE shop in Weston super Mare and they activated the WIFI calling. It has worked intermittantly since the start date. The symbol for WiFi Calling is NOT shown in the EE icons list or the Microsoft Icons list for the Lumia 640 hence my original question. I have now seen it and know what it looks like, different from the Samsung phones. Why not a standard symbol? The Wifi calling keeps stopping working putting the phone into mobile data mode only despite the Wifi calling setting selection still being shown for Wifi calling as ON. When dragging down the top of the screen the second line shows EE 4G instead of EE WIFI 4G and the tile shows EE instead of EE WIFI.Basically the Lumia 640 is not providing WIFI calling reliably. Whether it is a phone software/hardware error or an EE problem is unknown and proving impossible to identify. As I have no signal most of the time this facility is essential to me, I don't even advertise my number as it has been unobtainable for the past two years. After waiting for 18 months for this facility as it stands I would not recommend this Lumia 640 phone and EE WIFI calling facility.RegardsRetired Orange/EE Planning Engineer

  • Will 521 work on ATT with wifi calling?

I currently have the 520 using Consumer Cellular which limits voice minutes.  It appears to me that a key difference between the 520 (ATT) and 521 (T-Mobile) is that the 521 has wifi calling.  So my question is:  Is there a way to use a 521's wifi calling on a non T-Mobile provider?
    Thank you,
    Pete
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    the 520 has:
WCDMA network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz.
.WCDMA max data speed DL: HSDPA - 21.1 Mbps .
.WCDMA max data speed UL: HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps .
.GSM network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz.
.GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps .
.GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps .
    the 521 has:
    WCDMA network: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz, 1700 - 2100 MHz.
.WCDMA max data speed DL: HSDPA - 21.1 Mbps .
.WCDMA max data speed UL: HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps .
.GSM network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz.
.GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps .
.GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps .
in order for you to be able to use it on the ATT network, you would have to unlock the device.
that could cost you almost as much as the device is, unless you can get the unlock from Tmobile.
then, while the device will get general 2/2.5G service for phone and text, your data, being that it is missing the 1900mhz, will not get sufficient data.
the real difference between them is the wifi calling and the 1700/1900, which is what really separates the two device and why they are made specifically for each carrier.
being the cost of the devices, I would just buy another one for the ATT. wifi calling is not going to work anyhow, as that is a tmobile product that connects to your account on wifi, which att doesn't have.

  • Why must I turn off wifi calling for continuity to work?

I find it extremely frustrating that I have to choose between either the continuity features (dialing/receiving calls from iPad/mac, handoff) and WiFi calling on Tmobile. Both were features that were advertised heavily, while there was no mention that they wouldnt work together. Besides- wouldnt it be easier to handoff calls if they are over WiFi and there is no cell network involved?
    *rant

I also want to use WiFi calling because the T-Mobile signal in my home area isn't strong. I also really like the Continuity feature that lets me leave my phone "wherever" in the house and catch or make calls from either my iMac, MacBook Pro or iPad (which are typically in different rooms) when the phone isn't at hand.
Not being able to use WiFi Calling and Continuity at the same time is indeed both disappointing and frustrating.
It makes little sense without at least Apple saying why this can't happen simultaneously. Which protocol is being used to "transmit" calls between the iPhone and other devices?
It doesn't make sense when I try to imagine any kind of conflict, since my iPhone is great at using Bluetooth, Cellular and WiFi all at the same time (I can browse the internet using Safari, while on a cellular call via a bluetooth headset). Hopefully it's just a software thing that hasn't been programmed in yet, and will appear with a future update? One can hope!
[EDIT]  PS: It may also have something to do with T-Mobile, since they are still the only ones directly supporting the feature... I'm investigating...

  • Wifi calling - new registration problems

Purchased an iPhone 6 las t Friday specifically to use wifi calling. It has never worked. EE Customer Service say there is a problem that they are working on for new registrations. This seems doubtful as, if so, it would be all over the internet by now. I've been through all the set up procedures (several times) and I do have the latest ios release (8.4) Does anyone know anything about this issue? Am I being fobbed off by EE?

Similar issue here too.Enabled wifi calling on the samsung S6, but got no wifi calling icon.Got email messages from EE saying I can now use wifi calling, but still not working and no icon.Called EE was told it was not activated at their end. (strange as I got the activated texts)? Was told they had activated it and after disabling wifi calling on the phone, I should re-boot the phone and re-enable wifi calling and it would then work....It didn't. But I got 2 more messages telling me I could now use wifi calling.Called EE again, and was told I would have to wait upto 24 hrs for it to work. Not too impressed so far, as It is touted as being Wifi calling ready and "simple" just switch it on.Will wait and see if it works tomorrow, but not convinced as yet.

  • IPhone 4 Wifi Calling

So is there any way to make Wifi calling with the iPhone ?
If you tell me download an app then this company seriously needs to rethink their hardware/software. I live on an army base... the signal out here is...well its a mythical creature lets say.
I have wifi in my room, however that doesnt seem to give me the ability to make phone calls.
If anyone knows a FREE APP thats actually worth my time not netTALK because its terrible.
AND not one that costs me per minute.. why would i even get a phone if i have to pay per min to make phone calls on my phone with a 3rd party app?
Anyways im venting becausei  came from android and im anything but impressed.

I didnt make the switch because i wanted to. Trust me. And yes i am venting, on a community server rather then waste the time of techs with complaints they cant/wont fix
Long story short i had no service with Tmobile i switched to ATT they said id be covered. Im not, i used to use wifi calling which was nice, i dont even have that now. The price is sugnifficantly less however now im paying for  a fancy expencive alarm clock.
I expected wifi calling to be included since im paying for wifi.. Idk just a thought maybe its unreasonable.
something bout 20$ a month to check my bank account sounds kinda weird. anyways if u think im venting, and you have something nasty to say, need not respond. I was just coming here to look for an anwser without bothering the apple people if at all nessisary.
    I will look at MobileVOIP.
Ill be sure not to get an iphone in the future now that i know the basics dont come standard like on every other phone ive had.

  • Wifi calling

I am at a crossroad, iPhone 5 with Verizon or ATT. There seems to be two different stories. One Verizon cannot surf and talk without an app like Line2. The other is ATT blocks apps that allow wifi calling. I camp in the national forest where I can get a WiFi signal but no cell signal. WiFi calling is the only method available to communicate. Does ATT actually block wifi calling? Can Verizon users surf and talk? What WiFi calling apps work with iPhone 5 (Viber, Talkatone...)?

You can use FaceTime over WiFi, Skype & any other similar app you want with either Verizon or AT&T.
The surf/talk deal is a limit of CDMA. When Verizon fully updates their system, that will change using LTE. But, for now, it is what it is.

  • Three new smartphones to launch with WiFi Calling

We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be the first network to launch built-in Wifi calling in the UK when the Samsung Galaxy S6, the S6 Edge and the Lumia 640 become available on EE.

If you actually read what I've just wrote, you'll see you've just said exactly what I've just wrote.
    I wrote:
"Orange built a Signal Boost app into compatible Orange branded handsets(excluding BlackBerry phones). You would need to open the app to manually enable or disable Signal Boost, you would then be able to use your phone as normal. You would also need to enable or disable WiFi separately from the Signal Boost app."
You've also stated yourself(which I've already said) "it was preinstalled on the phone and only available on branded handsets that had the feature in the firmware. So it was an app like  had previously stated. Nothing was said about it being an app available to everyone, all the OP said was Orange had this service already working and Brendonx stated Orange had a app; which you've acknowledged was built into Orange branded firmware.
Here's a picture of the app you claim Orange didn't use installed on a compatible Orange branded handset.
Like I've already explained UMA and WiFi calling are exactly the same thing but branded two different names.
"Generic Access Network or GAN is a telecommunication system that extends mobile voice, data and multimedia (IMS/SIP) applications over IP networks. Unlicensed Mobile Access or UMA, is the commercial name used by mobile carriers for external IP access into their core networks. More recently, the system has been called Wi-Fi Calling by a number of handset manufacturers, including Apple and Samsung, a move that is being mirrored by carriers like T-Mobile US."

  • A Carphone Warehouse S6 - is Wifi Calling supported?

So i'm not a big user of the EE website but today i came across an article featuring wifi calling on the s6. since i brought my s6 from Carphone Warehouse. I'm not sure if it is supported.

hi I had the same problem with the S5. purposly wanted the handset because of wifi calling as the signal is awful at my place of work. we took x2 handsets on a upgrade deal from CPW only to find it wouldn't work!took the handsets back today and cancelled the contracts because they were unfit for purpose. staff at CPW were very understanding but were not aware of the issue as were some of the staff at EE when i spoke to them over the phone sunday (they had to get tech help) considering you meant to be getting good customer service i felt let down by EE after i have been a good customer with them over the past years. they just made it sound like sour grapes because you tried to get a better deal elsewere.  i have read on the forums that it's possible to get around the issue but knowing my luck i would end up bricking the phone or something hence i took em back!

  • Wifi Calling on Samsung Galaxy Alpha ?

Is there a new version of firmware coming to enable wifi calling on the Samsung Galaxy Alpha ? As I purchased this device very recently from EE and it's virtually the same inside as the Galaxy S5 (which does support wifi calling) it would seem reasonable if this phone were to support it too. Is there a release date for this firmware ? Thanks in anticipation ......................

    Hi ,
WIFI Calling is only available on the phones listed here.
The Alpha is not going to have this feature.
    Sorry for any inconvenience.
    Thanks.

  • Why didn't apple make iphone with wifi calling?

It is beyond me that Blackberry and the Android phones have wifi calling and the new iphone 5 does not.  Why?  That should be standard in all phones.

Just left a message there.  Thanks.  I live and travel and work in poor coverage areas and have a mifi to cover me doing charge sales.  Sad that Apple won't let me talk in these areas too.

  • Galaxy s6 wifi calling buttons

    Hi,
On the galaxy s6 after ee have enabled wifi calling should you get a wifi calling on/off toggle button in your quick settings bar as indicated by ees own setup instructions? I phone ee technical support but they were saying I would need to go into the phone settings all the time to toggle it. The native Samsung software build has this button available but not the ee software build. The technical support adviser tried to tell me that samsung haven't release this button yet, lol. I know there is a wifi calling toggle widget on the play store but access to this has been carrier blocked by ee on the play store. Anyway can anyone shed some light on this, should there be a actual quick settings button for wifi calling for the s6 on ee? It is bit of a pain having to go into phone settings all the time.

    Hi
I'm an Apple user so not entirely sure with Android!
or  might be able to shed some light?!?
    Thanks.

If by the Quick Settings Bar you mean along the top of the screen, then NO there is nothing available there for WiFi Calling on my S6.
