WiFi Connection & apple
I have been speaking to Apple about this issue. THEY KNOW IT IS AN ISSUE AND THEY ARE WORKING ON A FIX. From what I can determine it involves Actiontec Routers supplied by Verizon most often. Princeton U did some research and confirmed the problem. Acording to TH Daily ""Princeton's network engineers found that the connectivity issue arises when the iPad fails to renew its DHCP lease – a process which would renew its IP address with the router it is connected to – but continues to attempt to use the same IP," wrote Chris Davies of Everything iPad.
"In the meantime, the router may block what it perceives as a lapsed IP, or it may have assigned that address to another wireless client. However, in certain circumstances, the iPad fails to refresh its DHCP even when a full connection isn't being made, leaving the user unable to get online."
Current workarounds reportedly include initiating a cold boot, turning the wireless off and on, as well as moving out and then back into the router's range.

My Belkin WiFi router (4 yrs old, 802.11 a,b,g,n compatible) did not work well with the iPad but did work with iPhones and Mac & Dell notebooks. The iPad WiFi reception had to be turned off (Settings, WiFi) and on to connect to the Belkin. A new router of the following kind fixed everything yesterday!! Simultaneous Dual Channel (2.4 and 5GHz,) Linksys, Model E3000, $150 at BestBuy. Very easy setup.

I have had to restore my Ipod Touch and now I can't connect to anything on it. When it asks for my Apple ID it comes up with an error message and says that it can't connect to the server. I have checked my WiFi connection and its connected.

Use airplay with Apple TV without wifi connection
Is it possible to use the AirPlay feature on an iPad with Apple TV without being connected to the internet via wifi?
I'm thinking about getting my mom an iPad for X-mas later this year so that she can help some of her visually impared students. She has always wanted a good visual aid for all of her students and I figure that this would be the best solution. The only problem is that I'm not sure if she would have access to the school's wifi connection.
I would normally suggest that she use the HDMI adapter but the projector in her classroom is mounted on the ceiling and it would be a bit of a hassle to have to disconnect the cable every time so that the kids wouldnt play with it. So I figure if she can stream her content on her future iPad to the Apple TV wirelessly, she would be able to achieve what she has always wanted to do. I dont think she will be streaming anything to the Apple TV like youtube or anything like that but it would be a nice tool to have in the event that she wants to present something to her kids wirelessly from her iPad.Unfortunately you can't send audio from the Apple TV to an airport express, but you can send audio from your mac/pc to the airport express via iTunes/Airplay, you could also send audio from an iPod/iPhone to the express. The express supports both optical and 3.5 mm in a unified port.

So disappointed with IOS 6. I'm having weak wifi connection since upgrading to it. Can Apple do something about it? Can you at least reset it to IOS 5.1.1?
Sorry Jim for the wrong question because I'm getting frustated with my IPAD since I can't use it for surfing internet with a faster speed. Ipad was very convenient to use until this IOS 6 upgrade. Tried all the suggestions in the forums but still gets back to weak wifi connection.

iOS 5 used to allow Airplay between iPad (WiFi) and Apple TV (Ethernet) as long as they were on the same network, i.e. connected to the same wired/wireless router. In iOS 6, now both the iPad and the Apple TV have to be on the same network and both have to be connected using WiFi ? Why did they change this ? Means that the iPad and the Apple TV box both have to be in range of the wireless router when this wasn't a restriction before. Apple TV could be anywhere as long as it was connected to the same wireless router via ethernet cable. Seems like an unnecessary thing to restrict.
I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time! -

What IOS and OS are you using Elissa. I think from your post it used to work but has dropped off, is that correct or has it never worked? If it did wotk has anything changed? Check your wifi use with sopmething like istumbler to see if it is being used by neighbours etc?

After recent upgrade to Yosemite on Macbook air bluetooth audio cuts out and associated video stops with audio. Likewise with airplay and Apple TV. I have deleted all my saved wifi connections and restarted numerous times. I do not expect a resolution from the community, but hope to get the attention of Apple engineers. If you are having same problems or have a miracle cure I am all ears.
May start my own thread, but I'm having similar issues.
I've been using an old iMac (running 10.7.5) and Apple TV for years with no issues. Last week I bought a new Macbook Pro running Yosemite and have had audio issues multiple times. The weird thing is that sometimes it works flawlessly, other times (like now) I spend half an hour just trying to get a song to play.
My issues are: When I got to "computers" in Apple TV to stream my music, my music is sometimes chopper or intermittent, and I seen to know when it's going to happen based on the status wheel just before it plays. When I choose a song, the status wheel will spin for an unusually long time, usually an indicator that the audio is either not going to work, or stutter.
When it does finally pull up a song, the playhead sits at the beginning of the song for a good 3-5 seconds before actually playing. Then, when it starts playing, it's all downhill. It will play a few seconds, drop out, play a few more seconds, drop out, and then ultimately the playhead will keep moving across the song as if it's playing, but there's no audio.
Again, this is a new phenomenon never experienced by me. I've tried everything I could think of, some of them all at once:
• restart Apple TV
• restart Macbook Pro
• quite iTunes/open
• turn off Home Sharing on iTunes then reconnect it
• unplugging and cycling both my modem and router
None of these have alleviated the problem.
The odd thing is, like this morning, the audio started up perfectly and never gave me any issues. It wasn't until later in the day that it started. Perhaps after the macbook pro had been put to sleep? Not sure.
Regardless, this is an annoying trait, one that's new to me and my system (as stated, worked flawlessly until my new purchase), and is 100% limited to either a) the macbook pro b) Yosemite or c) both of them. -

when i use i pad with apple tv for see my photo,youtube and movies all ok.I suspect that the problem is in your router. Do NOT consider your router to be blameless if some other devices seem to work with it.
Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. Don't just turn it Off. On many routers that doesn't really do anything but put the router into standby mode. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
There is a chance that some services turned on in your router could be causing problems. Look for a setting called QoS (Quality of Service). If ON turn it OFF.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

Peer-to-peer AirPlay
With peer-to-peer AirPlay, your iOS device and Apple TV don't need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. If you have one of these products, you can use peer-to-peer AirPlay:
* iPhone 5 or later, iPad (3rd generation or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation) using iOS 8 or later.
* Apple TV (3rd generation rev A, model A1469 or later) with Apple TV software 7.0 or later. Find out which Apple TV model you have.
To use peer-to-peer AirPlay, your iOS device needs to have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. -
WiFi connection crashed when play mp4 from iTunes to Apple TV

My macbook pro is 2011 early with Yosemite and the apple tv is 3
both of their updates are up to date.
When I played a mp4 from itunes to apple tv, the performance was poor and always disconnected easily and the WiFi connection crashed, I need to restart my access point to recover the connection.
I used my iPhone 6 to play the mp4 in my mac, also the same situation.
but It worked well with Mavericks.
Does anyone have the same issue?iTunes Match is available now. You can sign up from your computer and then, on your Apple TV, you can turn iTunes Match on to listen to your iCloud library from the Apple TV.

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)

So, about a week ago my macbook pro started having lots of issues: wifi connectivity, slow performance, sound issues, spotlight wasn't working. After going through the issues with apple support, they decided the best course of action was to erase the hard drive and do a reinstall. Since I have a recent backup this seemed like a good enough option. They were kind enough to send me a copy of the snow leopard disk to do the install since we couldn't get it to complete through the disk utility. Not sure why, since it says we are fully connected, it just never completed.
Anyway, so now that you have the background here is the new issue. The macbook pro keeps spitting out the disk I'm trying to install from. Disk utility and using the 'Startup Disk' function from the apple menu doesn't read the disk.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this vexing problem?
