Wifi connection drops down. [SOLVED]

Hi, I'm having some issues with the wifi, in my notebook lenovo b5070. The main problem is that the connection drops down after 20, 30 minutes. I tried to change from NetworkManager to Wicd, but that didn't change anything. I also tried to create a profile and connect me through netctl, but again that didn't change anything. Other issues that I'm having are: Sometimes I can't even connect to the wifi, or if I can connect finally, and I try to request some website, the browser keeps idle and finally shows a "Server not found" message. Also the wifi signal seems pretty fine. I also tried change the tx, rts to the max with iwconfig, but this didn't change anything. I'm running out of ideas. Any idea?

So long I tried as Gusar said to loading the rtl8723b module with those params:
sudo modprobe rtl8723be fwlps=0
sudo modprobe rtl8723be ips=0
So far by now, the connection hasn't dropped (one hour since I made the change)
But is quite strange that when I do
[astinx@compu ~]$ more /sys/module/rtl8723be/parameters/ips
Y
I mean, the parameters changed or not? I also tried with setting with N instead of 0.
EDIT:
The drop downs come back shortly after. I find quite strange that I cannot manage the power from iwconfig
[astinx@compu ~]$ sudo iwconfig wlp9s0 power off
[sudo] password for astinx:
Error for wireless request "Set Power Management" (8B2C) :
SET failed on device wlp9s0 ; Operation not supported.

Reset the TC to factory and start again.
But do not be surprised if the v5 utility no longer works to do the setup.

Why is my WiFi connection dropping as soon as I walk out of the room where my router is located? Running OSX 10.6.8
Had ISP provider here multiple times. They switched out the router/modem on 4 occasions. They ran new fiber optic cables to my house. They sent a PC tech here with a Mac, and he was able to get a strong wireless connection, but mine, he said, was "weak."
I called Apple support. They had me remove the battery and clear the PRAM. It didn't help.
There's no point in having a wireless connection if I cannot walk 20 feet away from the router without losing the connection.
Do I need a new Airport Extreme card?
How much would it cost to get one, and what is the process of getting it installed? (no longer under warranty)
Deb Goonan

My ISP replaced my router FOUR times. I don't think that's the problem.
We already tried chanign the channel multiple times, channels 1, 6, 11 and even 9 and 4
No luck

• Potential Fix to the WiFi connection dropping on MacBook Pro

I, along with a number of other people who have posted here, was experiencing WiFi connection drops after a few minutes on my brand new MacBook Pro, which is running OS X 10.7.5. Rather than going the route of plugging in a static IP address, I decided to look at other options within the Network Preferences. Under "Advanced," I went to the TCP/IP tab and set "Configure IPv6" to "Link-local only." By default it is set to "Automatically." The WiFi connection has not dropped since that change was made. It may not fix all the issues being experienced, but it might help at least some people having the disconnect issue.

Nice post, thanks!

• [SOLVED] WiFi connection drops

Hey guys,
I'm having some trouble with my WiFi connection lately as it tends to drop the connection every like 2-10 mins.
It is not directly linked to any specific action, it just happens while browsing the web, watching a video or chatting.
It's definitely not hardware related either as I do not have any connection losses when running windows on the same laptop (Dell Latitude E4300).
lspci: 0c:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100

Is this some known bug or is anyone else having the same problem? I couldn't find anything specifically similar to my problem on the forums and the rest of the web but maybe you guys know how to fix this?!
Cheers

You can try out to load the module with
modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 swcrypto=1
or, to make it permanent, create a file /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf containing
#/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 swcrypto=1
That did it for me (i had the same problems: "wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:11:22:33:44:55 by local choice (reason=3)"). Don't know, if both parameters are needed, wasn't patient enough for testing.
Big maustu! that did the job for me as well.
This problem may be related to iwlwifi and some adsl routers. Everything was ok for me until we changed internet provider. The new provider (Fastweb, italy). placed their own router. Since then, my connection drops every 15 minutes or so and then it hangs. I have to restart network in order to reconnect.
I tried disabling networmanager and connecting with wpa_supplicant and wpa_supplicant.conf and fiddling with the file templates but the problem persisted.
I did pacman -Syu after we got the new router. Just to verify that it is the new router causing the problem I downgraded iwlwifi to previous version and the problem persisted. I didn't bother downgrading the kernel though...
Booting the same pc with another distro that loads iwlagn everything is ok. Another pc with ubuntu that uses iwl3945 is also fine. The problem seems to be just with iwlwifi, my network card and that f...g router which I have not access to.
My network card is Intel WiFi Link 5300.
The logs in case it really is a problem with iwlwifi and someone know how to deal with it.

• Ipad 3 wifi connection drops but appears connected

I bought the new ipad about 6/7 weeks ago and from the start ive experienced wifi issues. When im browsing the internet through safari or any app that requires wifi connectivity i keep coming accross dropouts. Safari stops loading anything and eventualy comes up with an error saying that the connection is lost! But i have a full connection? The dropping ranges from every 30 min to 5 min. I thought it was a software problem at first so i told myself to deal with it. But its starting to really bug me! Other devices are fine and ive experienced the same problem on different networks. So it must be my ipad!? Ive been through all the wifi walkthroughs and ive done a large amount of research and ive found im not the only one experiencing this problem. Ive heard alot that it could be a hardware problem. something wrong with the actual wifi component. So what do i do? Do i take it to the apple store for a repair or replacement? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

• Wifi Connection drops but still have all bars. Please Apple, respond us

I have a macbook pro 13''(purchased 1 month), a white macbook (bought in 2007) and a dell vostro 1310 (with windows 7) using the same router WRT54G2 Linksys or D-link 524
Only on my macbook pro 13''my connection drops without explanation and without a certain period (15 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours).
I'm with latest updates (both macbook as a router), already formatted and applied the 10.6.4 combo. I have already put ip manually turned off DHCP, DNS already placed manually, I swapped the channel router. Everything recommended in official forums, but nothing helped.
What makes me saddest is that Apple does not respond. Even with so many threads about this problem.

• TouchSmart Envy23 WiFi connection dropping

My WiFi connection is dropping once or twice a day on my TouchSmart Envy23.
The first time I have to reconnect is always when I first login to the PC in the morning so I was thinking it might have something to with one of the power, sleep or hibernate modes that is causing the hardware to lose the connection. I verified that I am using the most recent WiFi driver for my Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn and none of the other devices connected the WiFi are losing their connection. I also verified that the power mode is not turning off my card when in sleep/hibernation mode.
I was running Win 8 with the problem, which I upgraded to Win 8.1 hoping it would resolve the problem but it didn't.
I have two network connections in my office: the Ethernet card is connected to a private network (DMZ with public IPs) and my WiFi is connected to our private network (DSL modem) via DHCP. My Ethernet connection show no signs of a problem and I'm not sharing files or using the PC as a bridge or gateway between the two networks.
Any help would be appreciated in stopping the disconnecting of the WiFi connection.

• Broadband Wifi Connection drops several times a da...

Hello,
This is my first post in the Broadband forum.
I have had BT broadband for at least the last 7 years and the last couple of years I have found that my wifi connection is lost, and is only resolved by resetting the router.
We got rid of our desktop for space reasons so only connect via Wifi (laptop, mobile phones). Our BT Vision box is hard-wired to the router via the ehternet cable.
I've spoke to BT customer service in the past and they have fobbed me off by telling me that there was work carried out on my line but that it should all be resolved now.
The problem keeps persisting though and I am beginning to think it is down to the age of my router. I've had the same BT Homehub for probably 4 of 5 years.
Would be very appreciative if a mod could investigate this for me or advise me in my best course of action.
THanks
Marc

wifi problems are up to the customer to solve -
you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
if your contract is due for renewal you can try asking for a new hub and may only have to pay the postage costs - and possibly reduce your monthly cost with good negotiation

• The 'Third Party Connections' drop down box on the 'Source Database' step in the Migration Wizard is empty.

Here are the environmental details:
SQLDeveloper 32-bit Version 3.2.20.09 (Build MAIN-09.87)
Oracle Database: 12C single instance (no RAC)
Oracle client: 12C 32 bit
Windows 64 bit desktop
I am attempting to migrate an MS Access application to Oracle. I pick the ‘Migrate’ selection from the ‘Tools’ Menu SQL Developer. This puts me into the Migration Wizard. When I get to the ‘Source Database’ step of the migration wizard, the ‘Choose the Third Party database from which you are migrating’ drop-down box is not being populated with the current available connections. It is empty. If I type a valid connection name into the box, SQL Developer takes it on this screen but does not keep it for the next screen/step. It has no persistence. I even tried to make sure that each connection was open/connected before beginning the migration process.
Due to the fact that I am attempting to migrate an MSAccess application, I am mixing 32-bit and 64 bit software. This may be the issue as to why the drop down is losing addressability. I have not applied any patches to this version of SQL Developer.

Hi,
If you need easy way to migrate Microsoft Access to Oracle probably it is more reasonable to review some tools specially designed to this purpose. For example:
Access to Oracle converter by Intelligent Converters
Access to Oracle converter by SpectralCore
Access to Oracle converter by Interface Computers
Hope, this will help.
Sincerely,
Vlad

• Customization of Connection Drop Down/View in SQL Developer

I know this may not be that import feature that i think SQL Developer should have but will be very helpful.
In my scenario there are many databases and schemas exists in Development/Staging/Production environments, there is a possibility when selecting a connection from drop down some other connection is selected, its human error. What if there is Group by option in the drop down so that we can customize or group lower environment connections in one place and others in different group, even color coding of critical connections settings could be much helpful.
So in short i think it would be great if the following feature is included in next release of SQL Developer
- Connections to display as in groups
- Each group and connection of that group can be color coded(say production connections are displayed in Red color, Testing/Staging are displayed in Yellow, Development in Blue etc)

JeffSmithSQLDevPM wrote:
I think the poster means this actually
You'll need to be more specific. The developer comment for the feature request you linked says this:
Folders in the navigator are currently not persisted. Implementing this is not trivial.
I have created 'prod' and 'test' folders and put connections in each of them in 3.0.02 Build MAIN-02.37 and the folders and connections persist just fine.
So the connections themselves can certainly be 'grouped' which is what OP specifically asked about.
What if there is Group by option in the drop down so that we can customize or group lower environment connections in one place and others in different group, even color coding of critical connections settings could be much helpful.
Everything else in the tree (e.g. schemas) is specific to a connection which can be specific to a user created folder such as 'prod' or 'test'.
So if OP means something else they will need to clarify what they really mean and provide an example.

• Intermittent wifi connection drops on OSX 10.8.1

I've noticed since upgrading my Macbook Pro (early 2011) to 10.8, wifi connection would drop quite often if open Apple store and/or Itunes. I've tried changing wifi channels on my router, but with out success. I would have to turn wifi off/on to try restore connection, this works most times, but becoming very annoying.
I have the latest update 10.8.1 installed and no changes. My router is a dlink, about 2 yrs old.
Has anyone else come accross this? Any suggestions to try would be great.
Thanks

Yes, this happened to both my MacBook Pro and iMac after upgrading to ML and it is very annoying. I was hoping for a fix in 10.8.1 but no luck. This has been pretty widely reported so I was shocked when it was not addressed. I guess I have to call AppleCare and open a ticket.
Ok, enough of that. I tried everything - MTU setting, new location in network settings, taking the systemconfiguration folder (/library/preferences/systemconfiguration) and deleting it, and updating my routers firmware and none, none of them worked.
It seems, at least in my case, to be tied to 802.11n and possibly the 5ghz band. I disabled this on my router and am only using 802.11g and this and only this has cleared up the issue. This is really disappointing but at least I am not stopping and starting wifi every 3 minutes.
I hope this helps.

• Wifi connection drops on all apple devices

I have a linksys WRT120N router that i use to access the internet from (usually) a desktop, 3 laptops, 2 iPhones, 2 iPod Touches, an iPad, and a Playstation 3.
I have absolutely no problems connecting to the internet from any of the computers (all PCs) or the PS3. On all of the Apple products, however, the wifi signal drops every 15 seconds or so. It will be working fine, then all of a sudden the signal will just be gone and I have to go into the wireless settings page and reselect our wifi network to reaccess it.
The router is fully up to date on the firmware and is relatively new. Anyone have any possible fixes?

This is what i hate ive already posted 2 disscusions about this and its falling on deaf ears.
i have apple tv, ipods, iphone 3gs and 4. imac and Ipad 1 and 2 using my wireless router supplied from Virgin Media. its 50meg broadband with the super hub.
before i get a smart arse reply............i had the same issue with Skys crappy broadband router........so its obvious its an issue with apples software/hardware.

• WiFi connection drops when I try to play video

This has been happening for months now. When I try to play video my WiFi connection gets dropped & it takes about 3 mins to pick up again. No problems on other web, YouTube is the main problem, but only because it's the site for so many vids. I've had other video sites drop the wiFi link too.
Anyone know how to fix this? And are Apple doing anything to fix this video handling problem (except for dropping the YouTube app from the last iOS release)?
Thanks

Hmm. Apple will charge me $20 for a one off call, so I'm not fussed on doing that first up. I thought for sure other people would've had the same problem as me so thought it worth asking here. There are no Apple stores where I am. Not even sure if there's one in the country. There might be one up north but that's the other end of NZ to me.
And it's not a service provider issue, there's nothing wrong with my internet connection at all. It's just video on the iPod.
Maybe this doesn't make as much sense as I think it does .
Honestly it is the stupidest thing that everything just falls over whenever I try to play video. I was thinking of getting an iPad (or a mini) but that's definitely on hold until I can sort out these issues. No point in an iPad if it might cough up the same problem.
I'll keep searching online & see whether anyone else has had this issue. If there's really no-one then I might have to cough up the dough. Shame as otherwise it's a brilliant wee device & I'm permanently connected to it.
