Wifi connection issues, ipod 4th gen.

Ipod 4th Generation will not connect to my internet. It wont connect to others internet either... I have rebooted it once, shut it off than on a few times, reset network settings, and rebooted my router a few times. Please help me Smart People.

If not this then
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

TS1363 iTunes freezes when I connect this iPod (4th gen nano)

I have an older (4th gen) ipod that a family member gave me. I'd like to restore it and load it with music, but when I connect it and open iTunes, not only does iTunes not recognize it, but it completely freezes iTunes. I'm using Windows 8, latest version of iTunes installed. I've tried resetting the iPod, but that does not help.
When I check the device in control panel, it states "This device is working properly".
Any help is appreciated!

Found my solution in a similar thread - I hope I can find it and thank the poster!
It's a nuclear option, but it works!
Connect the offending iPod to a computer that does NOT have iTunes
You will be able to open the iPod as a Disk Drive in My Computer
(the following steps worked on my laptop running XP; you will need to adapt to your operating system)
Right-click on the Disk Drive when it appears
Click on Format
A window will pop up with some details and check boxes
Check "Quick Format"
You'll get a warning that everything on the drive will be erased. Click OK. (you are trying to reset the iPod to its original factory settings so that ITunes will read it as a new iPod)
Formatting only took a minute or so on my computer
Eject the iPod (Click the icon in your taskbar at the bottom of the screen)
Now, take the iPod back to the computer with your iTunes on it and connect it. (Close iTunes and reopen it if you haven't already) You should see a Welcome to your new iPod screen and be able to start over again syncing music, etc.

This can sometimes be the result of a faulty/damaaged USB sync cable. Do you have another cable you could test it out with?

IPod 4th Gen problem with MMJ

Can anyone help me out, i am trying to connect my iPod 4th Gen with MMJ ver. 9. Unfortuantly the old plugin does not work.
I have always been a great Apple fan but i find it hard to believe that Apple would sacrifice is customers happiness with it's race to win the competition between iTunes for Windows and Musicmatch Jukebox.
iTunes is a great program but it's it is severally lacking in regards to it's "Smart Playlist" which is a very very small compare-sent to the "AutoDJ" function in MMJ.
Can anyone let me know if there is a plugin out there that would connect both together easily. I currently have to use Anapod Explorer to connect my iPod to MMJ.

If the sleep/wake button is not working on your iPod nano, I suggest trying to restore it using iTunes. If the button still doesn't work after restoring, then you have isolated the problem to the iPod hardware itself.

Ipod 4th gen not really connecting to wifi

My ipod 4th gen has always worked fine a day ago out of the blue the wifi wasnt working but then i relized it was my ipod it only works when im right next to it as soon as i walk away it disconnects i have tried everything to make it work disconnecting the router, the dsl cable, resetting the network setting,to turning off and on my ipod everything else in the house connects fine i dint know hat to do anymore and i really dont want to reset my ipod so please can i get help

If you have same problem with other networks that indicates a hardware problem. Likely a loose antenna connection

Spotify on iPod 4th gen - car connectivity problem

Hi, apologies if this is in the wrong place: (The low down) iPod 4th Gen - iOS (6.1.6) When connecting via USB to 2013 Vauxhall Astra, the head unit displays song track / artist / how long the song has been playing for etc. Problem: I am unable to change tracks (go back or forward) using the car controls. (on the steering wheel or the dash board) I have got the latest version of Spotify and iOS available for the 4th gen iPod. As it is an iPod with WiFi connectivity only, I am playing songs that have been downloaded on the device. the Apple iTunes player works perfectly with the car controls and this is the only reason why I have bought Spotify premium as I wanted to downloaded songs to listen offline and as I spend a majority of time the car, this is very important to me. Has anyone experienced similar issues / know of any past solutions?

I havent come across the vehicle specific idea yet, but it's curious, what makes it different from vehicle to vehicle? As for the iPod idea, I went out and got a brand new iPod Touch 5, and its the same thing. For some reason, the controls will only change tracks in iTunes, and not Spotify. Im thinking that its only because the ipod/spotify app doesnt know how to read the instructions for the car itself.The most infuriating thing is, this used to work, then they upgraded the app in 2013, and something went haywire. I'm considering trying out the app, Music Control Plus, but I'm seeing that it might only be available on a jailbroken iPod, so that might take a bit to try out. Ill let you know how it goes!

I am using the cable that came with it so no aftermarket issues there. Please help so I don't have to reset everything again.

Because once it has charged enough to be powered on as soon as you turn it on it says battery is at 20% and will not charge anymore after that, it just runs for about 5-10 minutes before the battery dies again. The battery cycles discharge/recharge daily and its not on the charger at full charge for more than a couple hours and is never totally dead for more than a couple of hours.

Go to Settings>wifi and turn wifi on,. Then tap the network you want to join. Enter ther passward for that network if it is required.

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem! My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar. When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over! I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good. I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work! The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated! I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing! I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos,since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol. IPod 4th gen grayscale will not detect usb connection.

Hello everyone, I have a iPod 4th gen grayscale and I'm running Ubuntu, everything has worked well for about a year now, I have been syncing my iPod through VirtualBox with Windows XP for as long as I have been using Linux, though, for some reason, my iPod has stopped noticing my usb being connected, I know it's not the usb cable, or the usb ports, I have restarted my iPod and put it into disk mode, still no luck, restarted my computer, Linux will not detect anything plugged in, nor will Windows, though my iPod shows the battery charging when plugged in, but iTunes will not detect the iPod.
I have switched the hard drive of the iPod out seeing if that was the problem, still no luck, my car dock will pick up the iPod and play music, so will my other docks, I thought it might of been Linux at first, so I plugged it into my desktop with Vista, it also will not detect it.
Does anyone have an answer to this riddle?

I have now solved it. I signed out of my iTunes account and then held down both the power buttons until the apple appeared. When I signed back in it started downloading.
