Wifi connection seems OK but I don have internet connection ( 169. IP )

Last week I bought an iPod Touch 4 and since the first day I had the same problem: Wifi seems be OK but the IP assigned begins with 169. and then it is impossible to access to internet. In my home I have changed the wi-fi channel to 11 and the problem was fixed. All works OK. But when I try to connect to any other free wifi network, for example in a shopping center, in my office, in a public libray.... the problem appears again, wifi is detected and connection seems be OK but IP assigned begibs whit 169. and I cannot acces to Internet.
I have restored network settings several times, I have restored all iPod initial setting and the problem continues, I only can access Internet in my home since I changed my router channel, but obviously I cannot chage wifi channel in public networks!!!
Please, anybody can help me ? I am desperate Thanks in advanced

When you connect to WiFi at a public access point you often have to agree to certain terms of use.
After you connect, if you start Safari you may be directed to a page which requires you to enter credentials and/or agree (via check box) to the terms of use. Until you have done that you are not connected to the network.
If you are having problems you might want to try turning Off Autofill in Settings > Safari (this can sometimes interfere with this mechanism).
If you continue to have problems find out who provides the WiFi service and contact their technical support for help.

You might want to try resetting your router and your modem - just unplug the cords, leave them unplugged for about 3-5 minutes and then replug the modem and then the router in that order.
This may or may not correct your problem - call back if it doesn't.

I've never had any problems with mine ever. The only freeze I've had was from a file I recorded on tivo, cut commericals out in movie maker and then re-encoded to the lowest possible bit rate that that zens nati've resolution supports. Try turning your sensitivity in the touch pad down. Sometimes if you have it up to high you may have a chance of doing that (although I have only had slow response, instead of a freeze by doing that).
You also have to compare to all of the other products out there: Ipod and Zune are a lot worse with pathetic little problems (annoyances). I didn't pay for tech support?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

What I want to know is why did my WiFi modem work just fine for a whole week, now it doesn't. I can't get any Internet access if it's connected, if it's not I can't download apps from AppStore,as I have no Internet access. I'm tech literate, I don't understand what an IPS is, I don't know about ports and numbers, and there is no Apple store where I live. So now what am I supposed to do? You asked about IPS. I believe you mean ISP, or your Internet Service Provider.
Since you don't have a computer, you won't be able to change the router settings.
Some things to try first:

I'm connected to my wifi, but do not have Internet connection.

When trying to connect to my wifi network, it shows a exclamation point in front of the wifi strength, when I click n it it shows that I don't have Internet connection. I've tried to restart my modem and router. I've restarted all of my apple devices. But it still doesn't have Internet. When I open the network preferences it says that it doesn't have an ip and generates on for me. Anyone got any suggestions?

OK, so with an Ethernet cable plugged into your router, you're getting Internet service. But you would prefer to connect wirelessly. And your router is broadcasting a wifi signal, which your MBP can connect to, but you're not able to connect to the Internet via the wifi signal to your router.
Simple things first - power down both your router and your modem (the latter may actually require using a reset button on back of the modem - mine does since it has a battery backup). After they've both been reset, go to System Preferences>Network and see if Wi-Fi is listed on the left-hand column: if it is, click it and use the "Assist Me" button to establish an Internet connection:
You should be able to connect to the Internet now. Frequently just resetting the router and modem, and setting up your wifi location will do the trick. If this doesn't work, call back...

My Airport Extreme is flashing yellow, but I still have internet connections and iPhone access to the network. Does this mean that my network has been hacked or something else?

The light on my Airport Extreme is flahing yellow, but I still have network access to the internet with no issues. PLus, I can still get into the network with my iPhone, too.

Suggest the following:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Status (2nd line on the summary page)
A window will open to explain why the amber light is blinking and offer suggested actions to remedy things.
If everything seems to be working OK, it might simply be a message that an update is available for your AirPort Extreme.
Now you know what to do next time the amber light is blinking.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Hoping for the community to help me figure out a problem of mine.
Trying to connect my X230 to internet through a new router (Asus - security type WPA-Personal) and although the laptop connects without a problem (98% signal strength), internet pages are not loading. The diagnosis tool isn't finding anything and I could add that other laptops do not have the same problem when connecting to this router.
My tech level is rather low so I don't know what more I could add to help you guys get a clear view of the situation/problem so if more info is needed, let me know. I won't be far.

To answer your questions:
1. The machine connects fine on other routers. For example Starbucks (Unsecured), friends house (Linksys on WPA2-Personal), two different schools (WPA-Enterprise and WPA2-Enterprise).
Maybe it's a coincidence but its the first time the machine tries to connect to a WPA-Personal...
2. Several other computers connect well to this router. Which leads me to believe that the problem is with the X230.
3. How do I do this if I can't access internet with the said machine? (sorry, a bit of a noob).
Extra notes:
A) When I open up the Wireless Network Connction Status, it says ''No Internet Access'' next to IPv6 Connectivity.
B) Although this router is set on WPA-Personnal, the Lenovo Access Connections manager seems to think that specific router is in fact a WPA2-PSK
Hopefully this will generate more thoughts on the subject.

Basically i dont have the internet on my imac yet as im awaiting a new router although I do have the net on my pc. I have downloaded bootcamp on my pc ready to transfer onto the mac and I also have a copy of windows xp sp2.
Having looked into bootcamp i can see that before u can install BC and xp you need to be updated on your imac right? So seeing as I dont have the net is it impossible to get these updates anywhere else?
