Wifi connection stability after upgrading to Mountain Lion on new Macbook Air, help?

I have deleted the network passwords in Keychain and reentered my WPA passwords, which has really help, but something is still not right with my wifi connection.  Other devices attach and work just fine, just my new MBA with ML.  Ideas?  Thanks

  • Connection issues after upgrade to Mountain Lion

Very strange internet connection problem here after upgrade to Mountain Lion.
I just upgraded MacBook (early 2009) to Mountain Lion. After upgrade, I'm having problems connecting to certain websites (ESPN, CNN, etc.), and I can't connect to the computer using LogMeIn.
BUT, I do have an internet connection. Skype works, Messages works, email works, some websites work. I tested using speedtest.net and it shows good download speed, but the upload speed is so slow that it can't even perform the test. A Windows PC on the same network works fine.
Next, I tested the MacBook on another wi-fi network at a coffee house, and everything works fine there!
So it might appear to be something wrong with the router? I have an Cisco (Linksys) E3200 and have upgraded to the latest firmware (1.0.4). But still doesn't work.
The firewall in Mountain Lion is turned off, and I temporarily turned off the firewall on the router and that didn't help, so doesn't appear to be any sort of firewall issue. I've never heard of an operating system being incompatible with a specific router anyway.
Can anyone thing of any setting or something in Mountain Lion that would causing internet connection problems with a specific router?

I don't know if this will 'fix' your problem, but have you tried the 10.8.5 Supplemental Update -> http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1686?

  • Wifi connection lost after sleep in mountain lion

tried deleting all known networks and wifi services and reconnecting, but there is no improvement.

I was having the same problem after upgrading to mountain lion.
What i did was in Finder went to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/  and deleted all the networking plists (refer screen shot). Then restarted the Mac and in Network Preferences reconnected to my WLAN.
    That solved the problem.

  • Wifi not working after upgrading to mountain lion

As soon as I updated my MacBook Pro from Snow Leapord to Mountain Lion. My wifi doesn't turn ON. It says WIFI "No hardware found".

Yesterday evening I had the same problem. The sound was stuttering a while, and then it was not possible to adjust the volume settings with the keys. Also my computer (laptop MBpro 2009) was slow as ****, when I tried to open the sound preferences.
Even a reboot didn't help, as setting the audio midi settings. The results where terrible.
Just many hours later I was able to solve this problem. I used a program called ICECLEAN.
I checked/Cleaned the preferences files for the SYSTEM and USER.
    still no results.
After that I did a full CLEAN USER AND SYSTEM CACHE.
Reboot the machine and then everything worked correctly.
    thanks APPLE!

  • Unable to access connected server after upgrade to Mountain Lion

I upgraded from snow leopard to mountain lion and now am unable to connect to my server.
The error given is "there was a problem connecting to the server"
And in console I get a sharepointbrowser error
There are a few other posts on this but none seem to actually have a fix (for example one recc. was to reboot a bunch of times) I would think deleting/removing the server from the list would work but I don't know how to do that.
I can access the share if I cmd-k and access it manually though so it isn't a SMB issue it seems to be a mountain lion/OS issue.

    Hi DWAM_2
    Same question to matthew:
    1. Are you accessing the KVM through CIMC?
If so, try using a monitor, the CIMC may have been restored to default and has no IP address
Verify(ping) as well that you can reach CIMC and if you do use https://
Also, verify if you connected to the connect ethernet port :)
    2. Did you upgrade using HUU(Host Upgrade Utility)
If you didnt, you may have a problem there, both BIOS and ucs firmware needs to be compatible with each other. That is why cisco developed HUU to assist in updating
    3. Still does work?
You might need to reset the CMOS, check the manual of your C-series
Typically, you need to short out some pins inside the server or worse case, you might need Cisco's tech support  on site
to reload the firmware through hardware

  • Right after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro, some websites on Firefox won't load videos and some look like html (or something like that).

I've used Firefox for a while on my MacBook Pro (about 1.5 years old) and it's worked great. Should be fully updated too. Immediately after I upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion, some websites wouldn't load correctly (looked like html or something). Also some websites like YouTube show video fine, but then at least one other website doesn't show the video window at all, much less play it. Safari doesn't have that problem. Any ideas?

Did you try turning off power nap?

  • IMessage and FaceTime won't accept my Apple ID after upgrading to Mountain Lion

iMessage and FaceTime won't accept my Apple ID in order to activate after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro.
My Apple ID works to sign in to the App store as well as on my iphone and iPad.
What do I need to do?

This Apple doc might help ya out -> iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    Troubleshooting Apple ID activation
After each step, toggle  iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection. Check your Wi-Fi network using standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.
If you receive an error when signing in to your Apple ID, visit myinfo.apple.com, sign in to your account, and ensure that the primary email address has been verified.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically  is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Enable  iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location.

  • TS1277 "iPhoto was unable to connect to Photo Stream" error after upgrading to mountain lion

Has anyone gotten this error after upgrading to mountain lion on a computer that already had a user setup on it?
My iphoto was working with photostream and now it will not connect at all.
I ran fix disk permissions and once it showed up in iphoto, photostream was loading and then it disappeared again.
    help!

FWIW I fixed mine when I realised I'd probably downloaded iPhoto using an AppleID from the App Store but logged into iCloud with a different AppleID. I deleted iPhoto and it's related files (but not the iPhoto Library) using CleanApp, entered the App Store with my usual AppleID and downloaded iPhoto again. Once the App Store, the downloaded iPhoto and iCloud logins were the same iPhoto Stream worked again.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, i can't connect to app store or safari

After Upgrading to Mountain Lion, I can't access the app store, itunes store, Safari - anything that requires the internet.  I tried resetting my modem and rebooting.
I also tried deleting items from the keychain that look like they are related to the above.  When I did that and rebooted, It works for a little while, and then gets back to where it won't login to anything on the internet and safari won't load anything.

This means that at some time you had the iWork ’09 trial installed. You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user. Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

  • After upgrading to mountain lion I cannot use my HD TV as a display through my thunder port and HDMI cable ???

after upgrading to mountain lion I cannot use my HD TV as a display anymore using thunderport and HDMI , which worked before , does this mean I have to buy apple tv to mirror onto my HD TV

can it be something related to wi-fi?  I have read other posts talking about loss of connection using wifi.  I'm connecting my G5 through an airport express which is expanding my wifi generated from my Apple Time Capsule. It is quite difficult for me to relocate the server close to the Time Capsule and vice versa but if it works, at least that would be something.  It was working with Lion about 3 months ago - showing up in Finder, etc.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I cannot print to my Samsung laser printer ML 2525w?  How can I get this set up to print?

After upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on my iMac, I cannot print to my Samsung B&W Laser printer ML 2525W either by USB or wireless.    Any help on how to setup or reconfigure would be apprecaited.
I either print blank pages or prints one time then goes off line, or spits out a bunch of blank paper, etc.  Have gone through all the standard fixes, reboot, reset , reload driver, etc.

From the link to the Thread you provided, I worked through the one message procedures that were listed.
For ease of reference, I have copied them and printed them below.  This was an old thread but the guidance still works with no firmware upgrade required.
I would stress that you MUST delete any and all files relating to USB connection of the printer to the MAC, including all print drivers (from both Apple and Samsung either from CD or web downloads) and all print queues, etc.  I was only able to get the printer to properly hand shake with my Mac by setting it up wirelessly after all old files were deleted with hard power off reboots on both the Mac and Printer.
I hope that someone from Apple will pass this note along to their programing department because there is some type of incompatibility in the new ML OS and the Samsung ML2525w print dirvers used for a cable (USB) type connection.  Apple needs to be talking to Samsung to get the USB issue resolved.  I am going to post this same message on the Samsung site to see if someone from there will contact Apple to work together on a final solution for USB connectivity.
Here is the steps I followed to get my ML2525w to work in the wireless mode.  Again, I cannot stress the need to clean out all the old files (drivers, print queues, etc. - everything) before setting up wirelessly.
As a note, I ran this printer with Lion for almost 2 years and it always worked fine (both wireless and USB).  From other comments on the thread, users were good with this printer using Lep. and Snow Lep also. - - no issues from either a USB connection or wireless until Mountain Lion.
Before the fix, I was experiencing many of the same issues as described on user chat threads, printer going offline after a print job.  1st page sometimes printing but all the rest of the pages were garbage.  No printing at all. Printer just running a bunch of blank pages out. etc.
I run an iMAC 27" desktop with the ML OS upgrade just installed from Lion.
"I've just installed one of these printers for my parents.
First of all, don't waste your time connecting the ML-2525W as a USB printer. The printer will go offline after each print job. It's hopeless, at least (I assume) until Samsung gets around to publicly releasing a firmware update.
Instead, you have to use the ML-2525W as a wireless printer. In that mode, it works fine.
    This is what I did:
    (1) First, if you have already attempted to install the Samsung driver software from the included CD-ROM, uninstall it. Get the uninstaller from the Samsung support site:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/ML-2525W
Download the "Printer Driver (ver. 4.0)" ZIP file. It unzips to a folder that contains the uninstaller. Likewise, download the "Smart Panel Driver" ZIP file and uninstall the Smart Panel software.
    (2) Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if it is connected. Pull the power plug on the printer and power cycle it.
    (3) Restart your Mac.
    (4) Go to the "Printer Driver (ver. 4.0)" folder that you previously unzipped. Inside it is a folder named "WirelessSetting". Open the folder and run the "Wireless Setting.app".
    (5) The application will ask you to connect the USB cable to the printer. Do so, and the Mac should be able to communicate with the printer to perform the wireless setup.
    (6) The application will show you a list of wireless networks. One of them is the wireless interface in the printer (ad-hoc). You can ignore that unless you intend to use the printer without connecting to another wireless network. In my case, I selected the wireless network in my parents' home (infrastructure) and entered the security passphrase. The application then configured the wireless interface in the ML-2525W to connect to the home network.
    (7) The Wireless Setting application will then tell you to disconnect the USB cable.
    (8) After finishing the Wireless Setting application, go to Word, Textedit, Pages, or Safari, and select a file or page to print. In the print dialog window, you should see the ML-2525W as a "Nearby Printer" (i.e. via Bonjour). Select the ML-2525W, and your Mac will automatically connect to Apple's Software Update and download the latest Samsung driver. If for any reason the Software Update download does not succeed, you can manually download and install the Apple driver using the previously published link in this discussion.
    (9) After that, you should be able to print to the ML-2525W whenever you want, without the printer going offline.
    (10) If you have a USB printer queue still in your Print & Fax Preferences (from your previous unsuccessful attempt to connect via USB), you can delete it. You only need to keep the Bonjour queue.
Obviously YMMV, but in my case this procedure got the printer working reliably without the need for a firmware update."

  • After upgrading to mountain lion, contribute cs4 did not open

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I found that Contribute CS4 did not open.  In searching for an answer I found the following on the Adobe forum:
"Earlier versions of Adobe Photoshop (CS3 and CS4) software were also tested with Mountain Lion and there are currently no known issues."
So continuing to search, two days of frustration ensued as I "chatted" with 2 unhelpful Adobe customer support reps, searched unhelpful Apple and Adobe websites and posted my question in various places.  Finally I found that the above statement was completely wrong when I received the following from an Adobe staffer:
Mountain LION is not a supported platform for Adobe Contribute CS4. The supported versions are Latest Adobe Contribute 6.5 and Adobe Contribute CS5.X.
And now I have to spend hundreds in order to maintain my website after upgrading to Mountain Lion.  I don't even know to whom I should take my complaint, Apple or Adobe.  Does this mean I have to research every piece of software I use before upgrading my Mac?  At the very least, Mac owners should be forwarned of platform support failures for major 3rd party producers. I'm doing my bit here.   How about you taking some responsibility?

I just baught a new imac from the apple store and loaded mountain lion when I got home due to the time it would take there.  I then used migration assitant to load CS4 from my mac pro that is using snow lepord.  This worked flawlessly. CS4 and Bridge work great.  I then downloaded the mountain lion upgrade to my wifes mac pro that was also using snow lepord and once mountain lion was instaled it disabled CS4 compleatly.  I will repost the results tomorrow. I believe that I can reinstall CS4 to her mac pro now that she has mountain lion installed using migration assistant from my mac pro since it worked this way with the new imac.  I hope this works because I want to upgrade my mac pro to mountain lion but can't afford to lose CS4.

  • On 2011 iMac, External Altec Lansing speakers no longer work after upgrading to Mountain Lion. They DO work on a lenovo machine but not my imac

On 2011 iMac, External Altec Lansing speakers no longer work after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
They DO work on a lenovo machine but not my iMac. reset Pram - no luck. took speakers from wife's desktop, they
do not work when jack plugged into my iMac - Sys Prefs "SOUND" only lists "internal speakers/ built in" as available options.
I used my altec lansing speakers on 3 macs including this one for 5-6 years.....now with Mountian Lion I can only get internal speakers???
Ideas? Any/All help would be greatly appreciated - been going nuts with this for 2 days now.

    Hi,
When you start Messages fro the first time you are asked for an Apple ID
When this is verified and entered it appears in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts and is Enabled.
The App should have also picked on on those iChat Accounst you had before.
These should be Enabled if they were when you last used iChat.
Exactly which "Accounts" are logged in can be seen in Message Menu > Accounts and will include the iMessage "Account" and Bonjour.
In the Window menu you will see CMD +0 for the Messages window and CMD+1 for the "Buddies" window which is a combined list at this stage.
Go to the Preferences > General Section and Untick the "Collect all accounts into one list".
This will give you separate iChat type Buddy lists.
You can check if that account/Buddy list is set to Invisible or if in the Preferences > Accounts > Security you have settings that will block some people from seeing you as On line.
You are saying Buddies can see you as On Line which implies they are still sending to your AIM based Names (@Mac.com is a valid AIM Screen Name)
I am not sure from your post if you are trying to iMessage their email IDs thinking they are Apple IDs and that they are using Messages as well.
There is no Buddy list for iMessages side
No-one can tell you are "On Line" until they have your details in the "To" spot in Messages with the correct iMessaged contact info (iPhone Number or Apple ID)
Obviously an Apple ID can be an email or look like one.
In some cases they are also valid AIM Screen Names as well.
In the case or the @mac.com name you may have linked this Apple ID to iMessages as well.

  • HT4798 username/password not working after upgrade to mountain lion

hello, on my imac after upgrading to mountain lion my computer password and/or username seems not to work anymore: when i want to install an update or search for updates on the app store the combination i used so far, does not work anymore. i tried to find out how to reset the computer password but without too much success, and i'm a bit confused, what can i do? thanks a lot

You went wrong at the very beginning by not erasing the hard drive of a used computer before starting to use it yourself. I suggest you do that now.
Back up all data to at least two different storage devices.
Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup), launch Disk Utility, and erase the startup volume. This operation will destroy all data on the volume, so you had be better be sure of your backups. Install OS X. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
When you reboot, you'll be prompted to go through the initial setup process. That’s when you transfer the data from one of your backups. For a walkthrough, see here:
    Using Setup Assistant
Don't transfer the Guest account, if it was enabled on the old system.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
