WiFi connections are unstable on multiple different WiFi networks

Has there been any updates on the unstable WiFi connection issues with the Note 3? I have this issue with multiple different WiFi networks even though signal strength is not an issue when it happens. I picked up my Note 3 in August/Sept 2013.
1. Work WiFi
2. Home 2.4G channel and 5G channel
From what I have searched so far, I am by far not the only person with this issue, but I have yet to see a fix or any kind of legitimate input  from Verizon on this issue.
The issue even happens in SafeMode so I know its not an app that I downloaded that is causing this issue.
Thanks

Samsung is aware of the issue. The fix is supposedly with Kit Kat.
They may suggest you going to a Best Buy mobile and have the software removed and put back on. Been there done that, didn't work.
Sending a replacement out isn't going to help. It is a known software issue, and it will continue until there is a build that fixes the issue. IE: Kit Kat.
You should have the MJE build. This software is the problem. MJ5 was no problem. If you get a replacement MJE should be on it, if not as soon as you put the SIM card in it will start to download it.

  • Why my wifi connection is unstable? I have an ipad 4 wi-fi and my net connection only works very close to my router!

My wifi connection only works well if i am really close to my router. My notebook connection runs great either close or far from the router! What can i do about that? Thank you!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Need to FORGET previous wifi connection to log onto same named wifi

I can not log onto a wifi connection, with the name of NETGEAR with my MacBook, but I can with my iPod. I assume my MacBook has logged onto a Netgar connection sometime in the past, locked with a password.
But now my friend has wifi also called Netgear, and it's not locked with a password. She can get right on, and it doesn't show a little lock after the name (under the airport menu). I cannot get on, and it DOES show a lock after the name Netgear. When I try to get on anyway, it says there has been "an error. Try again later".
However, my newer iPod can log right on to my friends Netgear wifi, get my email, etc., so i assume it doesn't have the same problem remembering an old netgear logon.
I've gone into system preferences, chosen Network, chosen Airport, clicked on Advanced, and I see a list of "prefered networks". I found a Netgear, selected it and hit the - button, and it went away. But it didn't solve my problem, even after I rebooted the whole computer.
I don't want to uncheck "remember any network", because some I do want to remember.
    What can I do?
    thanks for your help

I'd guess that you have more than one 'Netgear' network saved.
Netgear is a popular router, and it's likely you've encountered more than one Netgear router besides the one you're trying to connect to. There may even be more than one in your neighborhood.
In Network Preferences, Advanced, even though only three networks are displayed, scroll through the entire list to make sure that there is no other Netgear network remaining. When you add it back in, make sure it has 'none' displayed under Security, to be sure you have the right one.

  • IPhone 4 - WIFI connection is made but cannot use the network

I have connected my iPhone 4 to my wifi network but the wifi symbol doesn't show up and it stays in 3G mode. When I disable 3G mode, the wifi symbol shows up but it will not allow me to access the internet. What could be wrong?
At first, I thought it had to do with my router settings but my neighbor has a iPhone 3GS and was able to access my wifi and get online with no problem. I used the same WiFi settings on my phone that my neighbor did and still have problems. Am I doing something wrong?

Skydiver has it surrounded.  You have not successfully negotiated with your router.  Take a look at the settings when you think it is connected, specifically the ip address.  If it does not begin 192.168 then you have not been granted access.  Do you have security on?  Turn it off, and try to establish a connection, then if that works, turn it back on.
    Or
Chose to forget the network, then re search and reconfigure.  I am betting that is will ask you for a password, or a wireless key to make the connection. Mthe fact that both devices have the same symptom suggests the issue ismin how you are doing the router connection.

  • A connection timeout occurred. I have been receiving this error when trying to connect to the open wifi connection at my university. My wifi works perfect when I am using it on my home network. I have tried all the suggestions in forums online no luck.

I am getting a connection timeout occurred message on my mid-2009 macbook pro I am running mountain lion 10.8.2 but problem occured before and after update. The message only happens when i attempt to connect to the wifi at my university. It works normal at my home. This error just started last semester out the blue. I have read many forums and non have helped ive reset my pram a few times, ive deleted all my networks including my home network out of my system preferences<network and all that extra stuff. if anyone has a clue please help me because one of my classes requires me to take in class test over the internet. Thanks for reading. If anyone can help PLEASE help ive been trying to fix for last few months.

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.

  • I was using a neighbor's wifi temporarily.  Now that I have my permanent DSL connection, my wifi connects automatically to my neighbor's  wifi.  How can I change it to access my new DSL connection?

I was using a neighbor's wifi temporarily.  Now that I have my own wifi, my Macbook continues to hook up with my neighbor's.  How can I change it so that it automatically hooks up with my wifi?  I have no problem with the connection.  It is just a pain to continually change to my wifi.

You need to go into the Preferences for the your WiFi and remove your neighbors from the list or move it below yours so that it will connect to yours first.  System Preferences (Accessed through the Apple in the Upper Left Hand Corner) > Network.  Then click on WiFi in the list on the Left hand side of the window and then click on Advanced button in the lower right hand corner.  You will then get the list of all the wireless networks that have been joined and in the order they were joined from oldest to newest.  Find the one in the list and either drag it below your network, or click on it and then press the "-" button to remove it from the list totally and then from that point on it should start connecting to your WiFi first automatically.

  • My iPad keeps dropping my WiFi Connection despite indicating otherwise

I have seen threads that indicate problems with WiFi speed after iOS 4.2.1 was released, but my problem isn't with speed exactly.
In brief, my iPad will essentially go to sleep on its WiFi connection regularly, despite showing a 100% WiFi signal at all times. I can correct the problem temporarily by turning the WiFi off and then on again, but this is quickly becoming a nuisance.
Speedwise, the speed is terrific when it's locked in and working. So I don't have the slowness issues some others are reporting. It's just more of an all-or-nothing deal.
Per some threads I read elsewhere, I tried resetting my network on the iPad, but the problem persists.
Are there any known solutions out there? Do we have any indication that Apple is aware of the problem?

I completely understand, my launch day iPad has this very problem from the start and was fixed with iOS 3.2.1, but with the iOS 4.2.1 update the problem is back. The best work-around for me beyond turning wifi off and then on again is to have the access point set to only one 802.11 protocol, B, G, or N.
My iPad will maintain a solid connection for hours while connected to a WAP that is setup to run just one 802.11 protocol not mixed. I've tested this on three different routers, two (b/g) and one (b/g/n), and the results are reproducible. I've contacted Apple Care about this and they are being made aware of a growing problem among iPad users, so a solution should be three months down the road like the last time they fixed the problem. If that isn't something you can work with, it might be best to return the iPad, because it's clearly a minor hardware fault with a minority of iPads as many of the users in these forums will tell you that there isn't any problem with their iPad. Me, I'm willing to give Apple a chance to fix the bug.
You should still call Apple Care about your problem or at least submit a bug report to apple.com/feedback, they do not read these forums, the forums are user driven.

  • Prioritize WiFi Connections

I am in an area where there are multiple Wifi networks. I may need to use any one at a specific time. How can I prioritize my Wifi connections so that when multiple networks are available it will always select and stay on that one unless I manually select another?
Another possibility that would work for me would be to disable/enable a WiFi connection. I don't want to forget them, just disable them.
    Anything?
    Thanks!

This has recently become a huge issue for me. I have two networks where I work - one secure (internal users) and one unsecure (visitors). I can connect to the secure network just fine, but as soon as the wifi signal strength falls below the unsecure signal strength, my iPhone switches and I lose my secure connection. I've tried forgetting the unsecure network, and even resetting my network settings completely so that I have 'never connected' to the unsecure network - and my iPhone continues to connect to it. What's worse is that half the time, the 'forget this network' button doesn't even appear.
This is one place where Apple's policy for catering to the non tech savvy and lack of configurability is making my iPhone useless while at work. Are there ANY solutions to this?

  • Device is connected to to a wifi network but does not have access to Blackberry services over wifi connection

please help me, my blackberry curve has been working perfectly fine (everything network and wifi connection are working great) since i got it but all of the sudden when i connect to our wifi at home i noticed that the wifi logo on the upper screen is grayed out. i checked the manual and it says: device is connected to to a wifi network but does not have access to Blackberry services over wifi connection. i dont  know what to do, i tried the hard reset (removed batt for 1 min while phone is on and put it back in) i also tried to remove the wifi profile and added it back up but still nothing seems to work, my service provider has BB services available on my phone, i can received BBM, pushed email, use FB on my phone using my network but i cant use my wifi to browse.. what should i do? help me please!

With a PC, the Windows Firewall and/or the anti-virus software will sometimes block an attempted Internet connection.
Check both applications to see if you can find a "blocked" item and then take steps to "allow" the connection.
If still no luck, temporarily disable the wireless security for a short period to see if the PC can connect that way. If it can.....then you know it is security related issue.
See if the PC can connect using a setting like WPA-PSK-TKIP. The equivalent Apple setting would be WPA/WPA2 Personal.

  • Late 2013 15" Retina Macbook Pro - wifi connection timeout with one router

    Hi,
I've recently purchased a new Macbook Pro retina 15 inch late 2013 model. Everything is fine at home, but at work I cannot connect to one wireless router (Netgear WAG102). The computer tries to connect but I get a connection timeout error after a few seconds for every attempt.
I have tried every suggestion for wifi issues that I can find on the forums, and have reset the router.
A colleague has also recently purchased the same computer except 13 inch model - he has exactly the same problem.
Any suggestions? I suspect given that two of us have the same problem that there is an incompatibility with the MBP and this particular router. I notice that there are quite a few discussions about similar issues with the macbook pro.

I too have a MBP Retina, 15", late 2013, and am having wifi connection issues.  I've tried several fixes suggested on these discussions and by Apple.  Nothing corrects the problem.  I've been told it's my router, but I find that difficult to believe give that my wife has a MBP 13" 2012 (non retina), that has no issues at all, nor do our iPhones.  It's just my MBP Retina.
My issue seems to be when waking from sleep, I lose the wifi connection.  I have to turn wifi of then on again, and it reconnects.  The only thing that corrects the problem for me is when I disable bluetooth.  I have the magic mouse and it's basically useless becuase I need bluetooth on for it to work.
I find this to be an annoying problem.  This is my first MacBook, and I really like it, but this wifi thing is bad.  Never had this problem with my Windows machines.
