Wifi connectivity is very weak  on iphone 5

wifi connectivity is very poor on my iphone 5 how to solve

Hi vishnuloya,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the iPhone is having trouble connecting to other networks. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support
Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

Have brand new iphone 4s. Wifi signal is very weak even when very close to router. I have also an iPod Touch and when both are side by side, the iPod wifi signal is excellent and the iPhone wifi signal is very poor??!!! Hardware issue? or software issue? I was hoping it is just a software issue, but...
Saw may web sites discussing this same issue; many discussions point to hardware problems but there is no official word from Apple about it, which is disapointing !??  Few discussions point to software problem with solutions based on try and error, and they don't seem to work.

did not help at all; the problem continues the same

  • Any news on ios 8.0.3 update? Been waiting for it coz of my slow wifi connection after i updated my iphone 5s to ios 8.

Any news on ios 8.0.3 update? Been waiting for it coz of my slow wifi connection after i updated my iphone 5s to ios 8.

I have heard rumours of an 8.1 update for developers. I just found another bug in 10.9.5. I am beginning to think that nobody should touch any update from Apple until they can get their very serious Q/A problems sorted out. This is getting bad.

  • TS1398 Ever since I upgraded to iOS 7.0.4 my wifi strength is very weak and I have connection issues all of the time.

I upgraded my iPad 3 to 7.0.4 and now I have wifi issues I never had before and apple customer support is no help. Does anybody know how to solve this issue?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • My iphone 4 wifi range is very weak even i'm near router. I can't depart the router for 3 feets away. How can I solve this ? Is't concern with hardware or other ? iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3

poor wifi bar as m standing near to an router !!

    Power cycle the router.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Iphone4 wont connect to home wifi connects to neighbors..others iphones ipads connect to this wifi cannot change it and cannot access apps store. Does nor request password just "cannot access"

Iphone 4 wont connect to home wifi but connects to neighbors open wifi.  Family members with iphones can connect to the wifi automatically and Mac compiuter in home connects to this wifi and this iphone did connect automaticcally until a few weeks ago.  Does not request password when try to connect to own wifi..just says "cant access.". Also cant access the Apple apps store to purchase apps but all other function operate normally. Apple store tech says nothing wrong with phone. It connected to their wifi and coud access apps store from their wifi.     This iphone belongs to son who is autistic.  I am mother trying to resolve this issue and very frustrated.  Have reset router but no change.

Based on the symptoms, your phone is fine, and the Router is the problem.   Try http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398.  Specifically the "forget this network" step.  I would also consider resetting the wifi network password.  Sometimes that will allow a connection.

  • WiFi connection's only possible when iphone's lying directly next to router

    Hey everybody,
my iphone 3GS, 32Mb, is only connecting to internet, when it's directly next to the router or the repeater. Not only at my homenet, also with all other WiFis I'd tried yet.
I restartet, canceled everzthing, restarted, rebooted... nothing had helped so far.
    Anz idea or help

If the same problem with every wi-fi you have access to and connect your iPhone with, if no change after resetting network settings on your iPhone and/or after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem with the wireless card or with something else.

  • Wifi Connected, but very long delays upon opening the internet.

I have a mbp, from mid-2010 running mountain lion.  About one month ago, I noticed that while I was still connected to my home wifi network, my internet access either became severely delayed or not working at all.  Most commonly, I'll open Safari and it sits there for about 5 minutes before opening my page, or times out. It will then work for a bit, but it seems that if I leave it alone for awhile, I have to go throught that whole process again. I have 2 other macs, 2 iphones, ipods, 3 ipads and a pc which all do not do this... they work fine.
I've found a few other threads about something similar, but non seemed to have found solutions.  I even went as far as to format/restore the hd on my mbp, and start over again with a fresh copy of mountain lion, but surprisingly this made no change.
This then lead me to believe there was something screwy happening between my router and mbp, so I switched it out to a backup router I had... no change here either. I restored both routers to factory defaults as well, but nothing.
And finally, I am able to connect to other wifi networks (friends', iphone hotspot) and browse the internet without issue.
Any thoughts??? I'm usually pretty good at troubleshooting this stuff, but this is making no sense to me :/
    Thanks!

Click on the WIFI icon on your toolbar.  Select Open Network Preferences.  On the next screen make sure your location at the top is set to Automatic.  Select WIFI on the left and click Adanced at the bottom.  On the next screen make sure there's a checkmark under Remember network this computer has joined.  Then select your home network and remove it.  Hit OK on all those screens to confirm your changes.  Then go to Finder and hit Go/Utilities and run the Keychain app.  In there search for your WIFI network name you have at home and delete the entry for it.  Confirm it's deleted by "X" out of the search field and typing the name in there again.  If it doesn't find it anymore, you're good to go.  Reboot the laptop via the Apple menu icon and Restart.  When it comes back up, reconnect to your WIFI by clicking on the WIFI icon on your toolbar and selecting the name of your WIFI network from the list.  Enter your password for it (you will be asked for it since you deleted the keychain entry for it).  See if this resolves your issues.

  • Wifi signal stays very weak

Wifi on the second floor of my house is a bit weak, so when I bought a new Time Capsule I thought: 'let's place it on the second floor. I have a free ethetnet-slot there, so why not?'.
But: sitting 8 feet from the capsule I still have the same weak signal. How is that possible?
(I'm getting a bit frustrated of the problems with wifi. It's not exactly the easy, beautiful solution providers promise us.)
    Thanks!

Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Time Capsule (TC) if it is connected at this time, but leave the TC powered on for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button on the back of the TC for 8-10 seconds, then release
Allow a full minute for the TC to restart to a slow, blinking amber light status
Connect the Ethernet cable to the WAN "O" port on the TC
On the iPad home screen, tap Settings
    Tap WiFi
Wait a few seconds, then tap on Time Capsule under the heading of Set UP a New AirPort Base Station
The utility will open up and take a minute to analyze the network, then suggest that the TC be set up to create a new network
Network Name......Type in the exact name of your existing wireless network
Base Station..........Type in a name that you want to call the TC
Password..............Type in the password of your existing wireless network
    Verify the password again
    Tap Next
The utility will set up everything for you. When you see the message of Setup Complete, tap Done
There should be a green light on the TC and it should be operating correctly at this point
Temporarily, turn off the WiFi on the Pad, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on
The iPad should now be connected to the wireless signal from the TC
If the iMac is close to the TC, turn on the WiFi on the iMac and it should connect to the TC with a good signal.
    Post back on your progress.

  • Why is my home wifi connection wont work with my Iphone?

  • OfficeJet 8600 Pro: WiFi connection severed very often / Printer cannot reconnect

    Hi there,
My printer´s connection to my wireless network is severed very often so I can´t use network print, scan and HP ePrint service. When I try to reconnect, the printer shows an error message. I printed a diagnosis page showing an error:
settings -> no filtering -> error (I´m a German user and translated that headword from German into English, maybe it´s not translated properly).
    I tried following:
-checked if router firmware is latest: it is!
-checked if printer firmware is latest: couldn´t find the option but it installed one update when I set up the printer first time in November
-restarted router and made a reset of printer network settings: once it helped, now id did not
I just now took a look on my printer and saw it suddenly was connected to my network. Although I think it´s a question of time till next connection abort.
My OS is Windows 8 with latest updates installed. My router is a model of a leading German router manufacturer (AVM Fritzbox).
I hope HP will publish a firmware udate to fix that annoying bug. I can´t believe it´s a problem of my router because all my computers don´t experience connection aborts.
    Kind regards,

    Hello sentinel717,
There are several factors that can cause your printer to lose its wireless connection, including, but not limited to:
The network connection is no longer active, or has a low signal strength.
The HP product goes into Sleep Mode or Standby Mode.
The HP product is moved out of range of the wireless router.

  • After no wifi connection for a month my iphone 4 won't sync images with pc?

I couldn't connect to the internet for a month, have been back a while now but the photos taken since being away haven't come through to my laptop windows 7

You will need to restore your phone as a new one using the itunes on your computer.  This WILL erase everything on the phone but it will let you change the name of the phone and then you can add content to it.

  • Very slow/stalling wifi connection on iMac

I recently purchased the iMac 21.5" Core i3 3.06GHz- I was quite exited about my new computer as I've been thinking about switching to Mac for a couple of months. I was amazed with the software compared to Windows, but so far I'm very dissapointed with the wifi connection.
I connect to a router which is two floors down in the same apartment building (we have an agreement to share the connection with my neighbors)- D-link router using WEP- authentication. On the same spot where I placed my iMac, I regularly get 2-3 out of 5 bars and speeds of approx. 250 kb/s with my corporate Windows7 lenovo PC. However, the iMac wifi connection is very slow- I'm not sure of the exact speed, as the connection is very unstable- sometimes webpages load quickly, but sometimes a simple web-page takes forever. The key issue is downloading files- when downloading a file, the speed starts at 250- 300 kb/s at first, then quickly drops to approx. 50 kb/s, a then usually stalls and the download is rarely finished.
I have tried browsing apple support for help, and found advice to adjust MTU in AirPort settings, and I experimented with various DNS, but niether of these seems to help, my web-browsing and page loading times seem to have improved, but downloading files is still almost impossible. The problem si very frustrating, since I get reliable speed and connection on my lenovo PC on the very same spot as the iMac.
Based on reading internet discussions on this topic this seems to be a rather wide-spread problem with the iMac, and I'm wondering if anyone here has a similar experience and any suggestions for a solution? Can it be an issue with the aluminium body which has poorer reception, and I simply need to move my desk to different location in the apartment?
    Thanks, I appreciate all suggestions!
