Wifi connectivity issues and unable to update software.

I bought the latest MB Air a week ago but can't connect to the wifi network and can't update the software, which I thought might fix the wifi issue. Help!

  • I am unable to update software or backup my devices. Apple techs unable to resolve the issue after hours of phone support over the course of several months.

I am unable to update software, transfer purchases, sync, or backup any of my 3 devices. I have tried using iTunes on other computers, uninstalling iTunes with tech support walking me through, using a different user on my computer, deleting photos off of my devices, using an ethernet cable instead of connecting with wifi, uninstalling my antivirus software and firewall, and had my laptop examined by several techs who all determined there was nothing wrong with the laptop that explains what has been going on. I am also unable to view or download purchases on iTunes.  Clicking the Itunes store results in a blank white screen. I get various error messages, including -9886. Apple techs and now the engineers have been unable to resolve the issues thus far, even after several hours of phone support over the course of several months (about 5 hours this month alone). I have done everything they've suggested, even when they've suggested I do something over again, and I'm becoming frustrated. I would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer. Thank you in advance for your time.

    Hi there
Sorry for hijacking your thread as put by Dahveed. However I have resolved my issue so I thought I'll share it with the rest of you.
I checked for the error 3194 in youtube and I found some good videos that tell you how to resolve the problem. The issue I was facing was the actually (I know because I have resolved it now) the communication between my computer and apple server which can be fixed as following (if you are using windows):
There is file in following directory:
    C:\Windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
The file normally has no extension and it is in file format. You need to open it and make sure that every line that has apple server id starts with "#". In my case one of the line started directly with the ip address and then gs.apple.com.
Perform your restore/update after that and hopefully it should be resolved (mine did).
    Cheers

  • Is there a fix for the wifi connectivity issue after ios6 update?

Is there a fix for the wifi connectivity issue after ios6 update?
Cannot connect to any wifi since update to 6.0.1
How do I get update to 6.0.2?
    Will that even help?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Still having WiFi connectivity issues. What can I do to fix this?

I have the new Macbook Air 2013, and since day one i have had WiFi connectivity issues. I know that this problem has been worked on and that a recent release of an update could help fix this problem. However; nothing for me has changed. I connect to my home internet and sooner or later my MBA disconnects and i have to reconnect it by either turning the WiFi on and off or going into network diagnostics. The time of my Air actually being connected varies from a coulpe second to a couple minutes and occasionally I may get 30 to 45 minutes before a disconnect.
If you could help it would be much appreciated.

That statement is unfounded, actually. ALL of those currently with wifi issues are able to connect via their iphone hotspot, or by means of their homebase AIRPORT base station, .....indicative of a software/ firmware issue.
Most dont consider a minor software/firmware issue an empirical defect, anymoreso than "forgetting something" is an empirical defect in a human being is.
The "speaker issue" is now uttterly proven a simple software issue, soon to be fixed, same is the case with the wifi issue.
You're forgetting that Apples 802AC  wifi is "next generation"  'tomorrows' technology. That a minor bug exists, soon to be fixed, is understandable.    Look on the bright side, ....the Macbook AIR is #1 seller and most beloved superbook out there for many reasons

  • Wifi connection cuts out intermittently after updating to 6.1.3

Since I updated to iOS 6.1.3, my iPad 2 is still connected to my wifi network, but it does not stay connected.  Every 4-6 seconds it will disconnect and then reconnect, often resulting in video playback stopping, gameplay interruption, and web page crashing.  I have read about the problems and answers to the iOS 6 wifi connection problems and none of them seem to be the same.  Those mostly deal with not being able to connect to wifi at all.
I have tried a hard restart of my iPad and I have renewed the lease for the network on my iPad.  I also set the proxy to automatic.  I don't think this is an issue with my router to the point where I need to do anything to it, as there are several other devices connecting that are functioning properly.  Any suggestions to solve this annoying problem are appreciated.

  • HP Slate 21 Pro: WiFi connection issues

    Hi,
I recently ordered two HP Slate 21 Pro devices. Unfortunately, both of them have WiFi connection issues. After some time the properly configured WiFi connection will be dropped, which results in connectionless devices. The WiFi AP is disabled after this, and so a timed reconnect will not succeed.
After inspecting the Logcat I found following lines:

Is this issue already known? Has someone a solution for me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

    That really shouldn't affect it.
I'm a little stumped because I haven't seen this issue with this device before. The only similar issue I found was this, and it's unresolved.
Have you tried doing a hard reboot of the Slate 21?

  • In spite of good wifi connection, I am unable to download the latest ios 6.1 on my iPad. Is there a solution?

In spite of good wifi connection, I am unable to download the latest ios 6. Is there a way out? While I can access my mail, web and do other internet-related activities, I can't access Updates page on App store.

Try again.  It is possible Apple's update server was overloaded when you tried before.

  • TS1398 Has anyone had WiFi connectivity issues with their iPhone 5 after accepting the latest IOS 8.0.2?

Has anyone had WiFi connectivity issues at home with their iPhone 5 after accepting the recent IOS 8.0.2 update?

Yes, despite being it an iPhone5 (8.0.2) attempting to connect to an Airport Express.
In my case the iPhone "connects" to Airport Express 2nd generation, but no Internet packages are available; Airport Utility shows the Airport Express as not connected to the Internet; but the iMac, MBP, Motorola phone, Samsung Smart TV and HP printer connect without any trouble.
The actual issue is the DHCP :
sometimes the iPhone gets none, and
when an address is assigned it just doesn't work,
even renewing the address won't work all the times,
switching off and on the WiFi won't work all the times neither,
going on Airplane mode, then back won't work all the times.
    Solutions attempted and failed:
    Reseting and reconfiguring Airport Express;
    Reseting iPhone;
    Switching off and on the iPhone;
    Setup the DHCP renewal for every 5 days;
    Meditation and stark visualisation;
Other possible patch not yet attempted : setting fixed IP addresses
All suggestions received resemble Windows' "Plug & Pray"
I gave up after reading several notes around the WWW complaining about it.
Last credible suggestion : wait for 8.0.3 or 8.1, whichever fixes the issue first.

  • Possible solution to iphone 6 wifi connect issues

Re: Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?
Trying to keep this thread alive. I had luck with what I discuss there.
I want to add to that:
After restoring from an icloud backup from my 4s, I never allowed my new iphone 6 to create its own new backup. I didn't have enough space on my icloud account. I meant to upgrade the space but every time it asked I didn't have my CC around (it wanted to verify my cc info)... so I just cancelled and figured I would do it later.  After deleting both the old and incomplete new backup... my wifi connectivity issues went away. (who knows why?)
This has worked for a few hours now.. Something is for sure different.  Anyone with this issue try this and let us know how it works .

iphone5s wifi is **** slow since I updated it to ios 8.0.2  It isn'tmy router because my laptop and PC
are fine.my wifi is working fine even on Samsung Galaxy s3. I am able to stream movie on youtube on S3 but not on Iphone 5s. even whats up messages take long to download on iphone 5s.
I have tried the following on the devices and nothing has changed!
    Turned Wifi on and off
    Forget Wifi network add again
    Reset Network Settings
Erase all content and restore from iTunes backup
Erase all content and restore as a new device
Disabling WiFi in location services >does nothing
Disabling location services entirely >does nothing
Changed the network type to WPA in my router to Personal or MixedWPA2/WPA -PSK. Rebooted router.
I amfrustrated beyond belief! I shouldn't even have to try all these things and I'm even more frustrated the only way I can use my devices is by pulling from my Airtel cellular hotspot and use my data!
This needs to get fixed ASAP!
It seems like there is no Solution for IOS 8.0.2 Wifi Problem. We have to wait until apple release new update that may fix it.

  • H530s Wifi Connectivity issues

I have a new H530s i7 Desktop/Tower (about 7wks old), running Win 8.1 - I'm having significant problems with my wifi connection and dont know if its a configuration issue or if there is actually something wrong with the hardware. At boot up, it invariably says that there are no wifi network connections available, despite there being at least 6-9 visible at any one time.  To resolve this, I have to go to 'Network Connections', select the wifi connection listed and select  'Diagnose this connection'.  This normally resets the wifi adaptor, allowing it to see the available connections and connect to my home wifi, which is boosted by an extender located a couple of rooms away.  Please note- running 'Troubleshoot problems' from the right-click menu of the signal bar does not fix the issue. The system shows that it is connected to the correct network (the extender), but the connection to the internet is  painfully slow and frequently appears to drop out altogether, making it virtually unusable.  During this, the bottom right signal icon continues to show high strength and the wifi connection does not show as local or limited.   Although the signal from my TalkTalk router is poor (hence the extender), I can confirm that it and the boosted signal from the extender do reach the location of the PC, as my 8yo laptop is able to connect to both networks and surf without issue.  A slightly newer laptop (5yo) is able to connect and surf without the booster, so I would have thought that a newer spec'd desktop should manage too. The problems seem to have started once the pre-installed McAfee free trial expired, so realise it may be something to do with the firewall. I have since switched to AVG (no reported viruses) and can't see anything in the settings to be causing this issue, so I'm a bit stuck and would appreciate any help you can give...otherwise my swanky new PC is just a very expensive desk ornament   Many thanks in advance!!

Hi Solid_Cruver, Thanks so much for getting back to me! In answer to your question, it says: 1x1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Developments since I posted - Lenovo came back asking me to restore the machine, which I have done.  The signal seems better and more consistent, however it still won't see any wifi networks without diagnosing the network connection.   Interestingly I've discovered that this only seems to happen with a hard boot, ie not finding any network connections at all.  This is resolved by either diagnosing the connection or a simple restart/soft boot - this seems to work even without logging in.  I notified Lenovo of this on Thurs night, but haven't heard back from them yet. Any thoughts would be most welcome, Cheers!!

  • All devices unable to update software or download new

    4 iPads (1 & 2), 1 iPod touch and 1 iPhone
All were upgraded (well, except iPad 1) to iOS 6.1.2

ok, it wasn't formed as a question, but I was asking:
    Is AppleStore/iTunes store operating normally
If so, why are ALL of my devices unable to update software.. (assume this needs more information)
This started 3 days ago now, and I thought "if AppleStore is down, this will be newsworthy" but I didn't see anything on the news.. so I posted here.
So are there any diagnostics one could run to check whether this is a fault in my network - due to some particular reason.. specifically with the AppleStore?
One user (my daughter) was able to download and watch episodes on her AppleTV.. my son tried using GPRS to update his device but experienced the same "block".. Several devices are trying to update software in the house.
I've reset the network (router to ISP) but all my other activities are running normally, including on these devices.
Google Earth is refreshing maps, (in fact, Apple Maps is refreshing maps).. so seemingly everything is normal.. until I ask to update a program or download one.
