Wifi connnection annoyance on N95

Hello again,
Another problem I have with my N95 since the firmware upgrade about a month ago is that everytime I connect to my home wifi I am asked for the WEP key - does the phone not store this info? It used to remember the key (before the firmware upgrade) and only lost it if the phone was switched off. Now, everytime I close the broswer I am prompted again. Is there a way round this (without disabling the WEP encryption)?

I think that N95 may actually be one of the rare WLAN enabled Nokia phone models that doesn't support LEAP authentication method at all. It seems that you are out of luck connecting to that particular WLAN network unless authentication server on the network supports also some other EAP authentication methods e.g. PEAP, TTLS or TLS that are supported by the N95.

Wifi connnected but problems loading pages??

right, ive managed to connect to touch to the wireless box but cannot load up any of the internet pages on it because it says it cannot find the server, also these is no indication signal strength bars in the top corner, should i have turned on another setting or something? pls help anyone

It seems (but Im not sure) that it may have first started around a month or so ago, when i installed a few updates. I cant remember exactly what i installed, and i cant seem to bring it up on the installer log. unfortunately, i cant load the page to download the update, but i should be able to do it tomorrow when i take my laptop to school and sign on to our VPN, on which the internet seems to work fine.

Since upgrading from sl to lion wifi is not avialable after bootup

After upgrading to lion (imac with core i3) from sl, i have a lot of probs with wifi.
starting imac wifi shows up greyed out telling me that there is no hardware found.
after a reboot wifi is up and running.
this is quite annoying.
I already tried cmd+alt+p+r and i also tried to delete the old wifi connnection and set it up newly.
no effect.
is ther any solution out there?

You have something called 'CasperSuite' in your login items?
If you don't use it, remove it. That should take care of the 'jamf' problem on bootup.
My MBP is currently at 64C, I'm not running much, just mail and safari. I really don't think you've got anything to worry about at 50C. If your temp starts climbing to 70C and the fans are noisy, then you need to start looking at what's going on.

New HH3 - Issues with Kodak Printer and iPhone 3GS

Hello,
Here is the background:
Previously had a D-Link DSL-G624M router and everything connected wirelessly. This included 2 laptops, Kodak ESP 5250 Printer and iPhone 3GS. Router broadcasting on channel 6 (locked).
Since upgrading to Infinity replaced the D-Link with a HH3. Laptops connect fine but have issues with other wireless devices.
iPhone: Seems to lose internet (not necessarily wireless connection though) intermittently. The phone remains connected to the HH3 and can be seen in the DHCP table and Home Network screens. The iPhone also reports that it is connected to the HH3. However, when attempting to access the internet using either Safari or apps it doesn't work. This can be fixed by forgetting the network and re-joining or turning Airplane Mode on and then off.
Kodak ESP5250 Printer: This connects fine to the HH3 and remains in the DHCP table and Home Network with the correct IP Address. Laptop A is able to connect and print successfully. However, after putting the laptop into sleep mode and re-waking it it is unable to Print. The Printer is still connected to the HH3 and laptop claims it is 'Ready' but unable to print. The only way i have found to fix this is to re-install the entire Printer software!! However, Laptop B does not have this problem and can be put into Sleep mode, Hibernate or restart and the printer remain connected. I do not think it is a firewall issue as able to connect until re-waking from sleep.
You're probably thinking the same as me that this sounds like hardware issues and not the HH3. Maybe coincidence that it started happening after changing to HH3. Maybe something wrong with the iPhone or Laptop A and/or Printer?!? Tried setting a manual channel on the HH3 as suggested by other posts but this had no effect. (Used inSSIDer to determine best channel). Also increased the IP Address lease time from 1 Day to 21 Days - but again no difference.
Current situation: Connected the D-Link router to the HH3 using Ethernet cable. Disabled DHCP and DNS on the D-Link router and kept SSID different. Now connected all devices to the D-Link router and nothing to the HH3 and everything is working as it did previously. The iPhone remains stable and the Kodak printer remains connected to both Laptops after re-waking from Sleep Mode.
I haven't yet contacted BT but i'm leaning towards it being a dodgy HH3. Anyone have any suggestions??

For starters, there's nothing wrong with your Iphone or Kodak prn. The issue is the HH3
I had a very similar issue connecting iMac, iPad, Macbook Pro, iPhone, Thinkpad and Canon prn via wireless to the HH3... Lots of disconnections, devices that couldn't log in, very low wireless speeds, printer not recognized, etc,etc
I went mad, pretty much did the same things as you did: inSSIDer, changing channels, re-installing whole softw drv !, reorientating HH3 position, manually assigning IPs and channels... nothing would seem to work!
Then I connected a Netgear router to HH3 via ethernet cable -like you did- and suddenly everything seemed to go back to normal. Here's what I found out after much head knocking:
1) The issue is the HH3, not that it's faulty but simply put it can't deal with lots of wireless traffic. The minute you connect several devices it gets clogged up
2) HH3 seem not to recognize WiFI printers that have a 'static' IP (not sure why)... this was a nightmare
3) if you have many devices connected, HH3 doesn't seem to 'like' Apple devices or wifi Airport powered (not sure why). After sleep mode these device can't pick up IP over the air, and you need to manually renew DHCP leases. There are several reports about this in Apple forums.
So here's what I did:
1) I ditched the HH3
2) I connected the Openreach router to a dual-band Netgear wndr3400 **cable** router (PPPoE connection)
3) I re-installed the prn drv in USB mode and then added wifi printer in wifi mode while usb connected
4) I created two-split WIFI networks; one in the channel 6/2.4Ghz frequency and another in the channels 44-48/5Ghz freq to which I assigned most devices (It seems BT Infinity wifi works best in 5Ghz channels)
Results: all devices recognised & connected via WiFI, no disconnections, steady WIFI speed almost as fast as ethernet cable, wifi prn prints fine from all devices... No more WIFI connnectivity issues.

I need a printer that is not too big that will work without the aid of another computer....just the ipad.
It is for a commercial kitchen, would love a smallish one.

Thanks for the post. Before committing to a printer (unless you already have) ask yourself a couple of honest questions. How are you using this printer? How many pages per month will you be printing? Obviously, you will be looking for wireless, but would it be beneficial to be able to print to your printer even if you weren't in the commercial kitchen? Is there a wireless router in the kitchen or close by that the printer can connect to? Do you need color? Photo color? How about fax capabilities? Do you scan? (favorite recipes?) Do you need an ADF or automatic document feeder? Making a list of wants/needs can go a long way to getting the best HP printer for your situation. Running Airport network..through computer...

Here is the scenario:
I am in a vicinity where there is wifi access. I connect to wifi.
I want to create a network...my own network...from my MB... and then make that open for people to use. My source of internet would be the main wifi... but then I would share it...

No, you cannot share a wifi connnection through another wifi connection with the same card. Wifi is not like bluetooth, only one connection can be open at a time. That said, you can act as a router by clicking the airport icon and clicking create network.

Well, then the only option is to try some of your common passwords or different combination of user name and password.

HOW TO EASILY SET UP WIFI WITH TH N95 AND A MAC WI...

Hi this is how to connect a mac running os x 10.4 (tiger) to a n95's network and succsesfully share the macs internet via airport (wifi)
first (on mac) go to:
system preferences then sharing on sharing click services and turn personal web sharing on (tick the box)
next go to internet and on the drop down menu next to "share your conection from" select built in Ethernet (or what ever you use to access net)
now tick the box that says airport and click airport options
copy in as follows:
network name: -what ever you want-
channel: automatic
tick enable encryption (WEP)
password: -use a word thats 13 characters long-
Wep key length: 128
click ok and click start!
now on n95 go to:
settings>connection>access points
then go options and new access point
connection name: use any name you like
data bearer: wireless LAN
Wlan networkname: search for network > select the network that you no is yours
network status: puplic
Wlan network mode: infrastructure
!!!!!!!!!before you go to wlan security mode push options!!!!!!!!!!
then advanced settings then IPV4 settings and enter in the following numbers
phone ip: 10:0:2:5
subnet mask: 255:255:255:0
default gateway: 10.0.2.1
primary dns address: 10:0:2:1
!!!!!before you enter secondery go back to you mac and go system prefs and then network on network it should say:
location: automatic
show: network status
from there copy your ip adress into your phones "secondary DNS address"
(you ip is located after built in ethernet where it says ip then somthing like 211:243 ect.)
now on the n95 go back until you get to where it said wlan security mode
wlan security mode: WEP
wlan security settings:
WEP Key in use: (hash)1
authentication tyoe: shared
WEP key setting's:
WEP encryption: 128 bits
WEP key format: ASCII
WEP KEY: - the 13 charictor password types in on the mac-
now go back until you you reach your main n95's menu
select tools then WLAN WIZ.
the network you created on the mac should apear as known select it then start web browsing!!!

N95 Wifi WPA connection problem

I recently bought the Nokia N95 and everything is working except the wifi WPA part. I DL the latest firmware (v20.0.015) but that didn't help.
Everytime i connect with my home wifi lan it asks for a password. It doesn't matter what password i try it says "invalid pre-shared wpa key" So even simple passwords like "12345678" or "merryxmas" don't work. If i change from WPA-PSK to WEP 128 bit WEP key then it works ???
This must be a N95 error ? I also tried tkip and aes but that didn't help. My Phone AP settings r:
Network - public
WPA/WPA-2
Pre-shared key
WPA-2 only - off
Does anybody has a working WPA wifi N95 ???

If I connect to the PC as "Mass Storage" I can see the phone as a removable disk and go into the file structure, just as I could in PC Suite mode. However, if try to drag and drop a file from my N95 to the desktop the phone bleeps intermittently every 2-10 seconds, the USB connection icon on the phone display will blink in time to the phone bleep. The "Copying" bar on the PC shows the file transfer occurring but extremely slowly. E.g. A 4Mb MP4 showed 3 minutes on the progress bar but after 10 minutes was barely a sixth of the way through.
It appears that the connection betweeen the phone and PC is only active when the phone bleeps, in the periods of silence there is seemingly no activity. I think this because if I look at the file structure on the phone, while the trasfer is taking place, the window will freeze until the next bleep of the phone.
Maybe someone can recommend a brand and model USB2.0 PCI card (preferably also with firewire) so that I can buy one that I know works?

N95 WiFi Internet access for an iTouch?

My friend has a new iTouch and I was hoping to blow her away by supplying a wifi access point to it through my N95's 3G connection. I'm on a flat plan and literally have bandwidth to burn.
It seems like an insurmountable task, given there would be so much to manage but this N95 is still constantly surprising me. I love this phone. If you know of a mobile wifi router, or of some reason it can or cannot be done, let me know.

Use of WIFI with N95 (RM-159) and a Netcam

First of all, do not discard my subject because my english is not academic: I am French!
Here is my problem after many tries and tests:
Configuration: my N95 is connected in WIFI to a WIFI router. Other WIFI devices are also connected to that WIFI (NETGEAR) router: a PORTABLE PC and a NETCAM (D-LINK DCS-2120)
Note: the NETCAM has its own administration WEB
When I got the N95, my purpose was and still is to view the netcam video stream on the N95 (by using realplayer). This does not work.
Tests:
-With the PORTABLE PC, visualisation of the netcam pictures is operationnal either by using HTTP (after loading an Active X to visualize the netcam) or realplayer: i.e http://192.168.1.x:1025 or rtsp://192.168.1.x:1032/live.rm .
-With the N95, the access point is in WIFI and with its browser, I can connect external sites (yahoo.fr), sites on my LAN (such as the administration WEB of the router) BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH THE NETCAM administration WEB(). It is important to note that with Internet Explorer on the PORTABLE PC it is quite easy to be connected to that netcam administration WEB. Therefore, the problem seems to be with the N95 browser or its parameters.
My concern and technical request: It appears that this issue might occur after a firmware update (currently 30.0.015 which is the last version). Before this F/W updating or a N95 parametrisation, the N95 was capable to get the welcome page of the WIFI NETCAM WEB (http://192.168.1.x:1025 even without image because the N95 browser does not support the activeX technology). For information, to get an image (not the video) http://192.168.1.x:1025/cgi-bin/video.jpg used to work.
I would greatly appreciate that someone could help me because I have performed all the tests I am capable of (I am used to be a DP engineer)

I have found a workaround but SHAME on NOKIA BROWSER.
I have loaded OPERA MINI and it works: I have got the page of my NETCAM even if it is not possible to get the video because OPERA does not support ACTIVEX (DCS-2120 requires an acticeX to be loaded the first time)
WHO IS GOING TO TELL NOKIA ABOUT THEIR BROWSER ISSUE?
I hope that my experience will help other N95 users.
Now, I am going to get the video stream with realplayer.

There may be a few ways to go around this.
-Perhaps you may try opening the web browser > options > clear privacy data > all.
-If this does not help then go to the menu > tools > settings > connections > access points > scroll down to the router and delete the access point and try using the WLAN wiz to redefine the access point.

I dont think it is as would have to be connected through a router to a phone line anyway. My psp doesn't even detect my N95. You would have to use it as a bluetooth modem and 3g.
