Wifi constantly drops while watching Live Stream TV

My Wifi constantly drops while watching Live Stream TV. I cannot make it through a 30 min tv show without it dropping me serveal times.I can only resume if I refresh and re-connect to my reouter.  I just had my service installed 3 weeks ago and have been told I have the latest router.

The most likely cause for your findings is that your neighbor is using a different channel on his router, or he is broadcasting a stong signal on the same or a nearby channel, and interfering with your signal.   However, don't rush out and change your channel to the same one he is using, as this may only make things worse.  There are, however, several things to do to improve your wireless connections:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, Bluetooth (including Bluetooth game controllers), microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, and your neighbor's wireless network. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Hope this helps.

  • I cannot watch live stream from NBC live extra using Safari

Hi, I have a macbook pro with mountain lion, safari v6.0 and google chrome v21.0.1180.57.
I cannot watch live stream on nbc live extra in safari, it gave me a black screen, however, I copy the same link and paste in chrome I could watch the live stream with no problem. I checked several threads but still didn't work out.
Can some one tell me why and how to make it work?
    Thanks,
    Tianyi

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac."
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • Cannot watch live streaming video

I am trying to use Quick Time to watch live streaming video. However, when I click on the link, I get the following sequence:
    "Negotiating"
    "Waiting for media"...with a countdown
"Switching transports"...this goes on for a long time
    "Disconnected"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Quick Time and the problem persists. Any suggestions for this techno-laggard? Thanks!

    Here is the link: http://dev.centralsynagogue.org/index.php/worship/multimedia/streaming/
However, the streaming only happens at 6 p.m. on Friday evenings and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings.
    Some additional information:
Although I initially get a "Connecting" message (at the appointed hour), it then changes to "Switching Transport" and then to "Disconnected." Alternately, if I try to copy the URL from the website into the Quick Time "Open URL" option on the File menu, I get an error message that says, Error 47, Invalid URL.
Very frustrating...any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Having trouble watching live streams such as jtv and twitch.tv. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling adobe flash but I still get no stream just ads and pictures. Anyone have any suggestions?

Having trouble watching live streams such as jtv and twitch.tv. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling adobe flash but I still get no stream just ads and pictures. Anyone have any suggestions?

I just wanted to follow this up by saying that you were entirely correct in your diagnosis of the situation.  My computer did have the faulty part you linked to.  I brought my laptop in and specifically told them to run that test, had it fail and then argued with the person at the genius bar and the manager.  Eventually they offered to have it sent out and have everything replaced for free of charge.  They did so mainly because I had complained about graphical issues almost every other time I had come in with problems and no one ran the test.  They should have caught this problem during my warranty, but they didn't, even though I mentioned the problem.
Anyhow, after having the part replaced, I haven't had my computer crash a single time since, or had many of the issues mentioned above.  I've never had this experience before.  Even brand new, I got occasional crashes.  Hopefully this new trend continues.
I do find that web browsing is still incredibly slow.  Web browsers just chug along at a slow pace, even though I have great internet speed.  Maybe I'll try just deleting my web browsers and reinstalling them...
Anyhow, thank you for your help and knowledge Clinton.

  • Hello, pls help, why i cant able to watch live streaming?in to other country?

Hello, pls help, why i cant able to watch live streaming?in to other country?i used safari and tune in i got error result.thanks

Without knowing what streaming service you're attempting to use it's impossible to say with any certainty, but confirm that the site you wish to use allows connections from outside of its country. Many live streaming services, particularly those that show live TV shows or other such content, are limited to access only from users in the service's country.
    Regards.

  • Unable to watch live streaming on nrl app

Have not being able to watch the live streaming on nrl app hasn't been working this whole season.. Will not load, have wifi and fast internet.. Continually being charge for a service that isn't working.

Thanks. Availability of live match videos is based on broadcaster times. This means that all Fox Sports matches are live and availability of Channel Nine matches is based on broadcaster times. Channel 9 games will be broadcast at the same time as the free to air signal in your territory and therefore may be delayed.
That means for QLD, the Broncos vs Knights is Live, with the Rabbitohs vs Sea Eagles delayed and in NSW it is the reverse.

  • WiFi constantly drops on Pro (10.9.4); running diagnostics (just running it) fixes the problem for 1-2 minutes.

My MacBook Pro constantly drops WiFi, at home and elsewhere.  Other devices run fine.  When I run diagnostics, it defaults to ethernet, I switch it back to wifi, it says Diagnostics cannot fix the problem, I run it again once or twice and it picks wifi back up, two minutes later, I have to repeat the entire process.  I've looked at similar threads, and none of the offered solutions work, nor are they recently updated.  I'm running 10.9.4 (in fact the problem seems worse since the "upgrade").  I also live in a country without Apple Stores.  I'm not using Airport, but since the problem is with the Mac and not other devices, and with the Mac everywhere I go, the router is not the problem, nor is the network.

I should also point out that there is no indication that wifi has been dropped, other than the web page not opening - I have full bars, and diagnostic window says I am connected, complete with IP address. Only when I click on "assist me/diagnostics"  does it indicate I am not connected.

  • Voice keeps dropping while watching Apple TV

While watching Apple TV movies and such, the voice seems to keep dropping out.  If I rewind it and play again it is there, but this keeps happening throughout the entire movie.  Have to keep rewinding and starting.  Almost like it cannot keep up with audio and video at same time.  I am using OS X 10.10.4 and the older version of the Airport express, about 6 in square.  The Apple TV is about 4 years old.  Could that be going bad?  Any Ideas?

Well, I tried something this morning.  I restarted the Apple TV.  Under General Tab and on Restart.  This seems to clear up the problem.  Not really sure why, but it worked.  Thank you for your answer in this and that is what I was looking to do.  Thank god I don't have to as of now.

  • Watching live streaming on IOS

    Dear all.
I have  installed Flash Media Server to using RTMFP.
I put a live stream from broadcaster to my Flash Media Server. And Flash Media Server republishing it.
Now I want to watch it on IOS(iphone, ipad, Mac).
Can you help me as soon as.
    Thank you very much!

I don't allow my clients to stream media on my server. They have to embed the video and use a service like Youtube, which no one seems to mind. I think Youtube is actually pretty great. Their servers are optimized for such usage.
I believe with Youtube  you can still prevent freeloaders through permission settings.
If you are going to stream from a hosting account, ask your hosting provider if they provide a server for media streaming. Some do.
As far as collecting payment for such, I think you have lots of options. Even PayPal has a process for purchasing something like this. The purchaser is emailed a link to the file location. You would then put each video in a separate directory with a complex random name.
The above suggestions are for a simple solution and not intended for a business making large amounts of money each month from such a service.

  • ATV2 resets while watching movies streaming from itunes

I have movies that are located on my Mac Mini and I am streaming them via itunes to my ATV2. While watching them on the ATV2 about 30-40 minutes in the movie, the movie will stop and the ATV2 will reset. I will initially act as if in cannot connect to the network or the mac mini. Then it will find them and connect. At which point you can navigate back to the movie and watch it, until it happens again in 20-30 minutes.

I found exactly the same problem and discovered the issued disappeared when I "quit" all "downloading" programs whilst watching TV via ATV2. The issue was particularly frequent when i was watching while downloading using my torrent client (utorrent). Quitting this resulted in a immediate an permanent improvement provided the torrent client remained closed. Interestingly it did not seem to affect, to the same degree listening to music through iTunes while downloading!
After experimenting I also noted that the problem existed, albeit less frequently, when i was downloading movies from the iTunes store. I experimented with a variety of Apple and non-Apple routers and ethernet cables. As long as i was downloading there was an issue using the ATV. For what its worth I also noted that when the ATV2 went awry it also occasionally coincided with a temporary outage on my ADSL connection. After all the experimenting i have concluded its the ATV2 that is the route cause and not the router/network arrangement etc.
Anyone want to try fixing the problem this way? i cant believe that its a coincidence.

  • When I want to watch live stream, the buffer comes on all the time. I have 32bit, server is wildblue, highest option

32 bit laptop, wildblue, highest speed. Live stream is choppy. it doesn't run smoothly

I had this exact same problem- Found a suggestion on a simular thread that fixed it. Right Click anywhere on your screen to get to Display Properties. Find out the make and model of your video card(in my case it was Nvidia). Go to their website and to the driver download link. Download the updated driver for your card and follow the instructions to install.

  • Why can't i watch live streaming video on my Ipad2 gs?

I can not watch my church service broadcast live on the internet www.judsonbclive.net can anyone help me undersand why i can view it on my droid phone andnot my ipad2 even when connected through the Hot spot from the droid?

The pad can play a lot of streaming material, but it depends on the format of the material.  If the broadcast is encoded via flas, the pad cannot play it.   You might talk to whoever produces the broadcast and ask them if they are planning to change to a newer system.

  • Problem While Playing Live Stream

    Hi everyone ,
i have two streams published by two different clients, if i
want to play both the two streams in a third client how can i do
    that ..any help?
    Client 1:
    ns_out.publish("Stream1","live");
    Client 2:
    ns_out.publish("Stream2","live");
    Client 3:
Here i want to play both the above streams published...
What code i can use ?

It certainly solves the problem to the extent that VLC can open the file, but doesn't explain why it would stop working through QuickTime.
And now every time I open the website and the link via Firefox, I get a new tab with QuickTime attempting to open it up (even though I've changed the settings to Default, as previously, in the hope it'll change things back to the way they were).
A few hiccups with the VLC option, though - it plays for a bit, then it stops. Could be just traffic, but, meh, who knows?
    Some progress, nonetheless.

  • Ever since updating to Mountain Lion, I cannot watch live streams.

Hey, since updating to ML, something seems to be interrupting how Flash is working.
I am unable to see live video streams in the browser.
When I try to use VOKLE, for example, it seems to load fine and then I get an error from Vokle telling me to make sure I have an internet connection and allow RTMP traffic. Same story with Stickam, it connects but then shows me a blank screen.
    I've tried:
Reinstalling Flash and messing with the settings (allow storage of data etc.).
    Chrome and Safari
Disabling OS X Firewall & Sophos
Nothing seems to work, I haven't had this problem with Lion and I am pulling my hair out!
MSN messenger refuses to sign in also, this seems related to me maybe, it just tries for a long time then fails.
It seems like there is something blocking incoming connections BUT WHAT?
    Thanks.

Same problem with Windows 7 using boot camp! O:
