WiFi Controller 2504 Failover configuration

Hi Mates,
one of our customer has an AIR-CT2504-15-K9 which is used to manage 15 Access Points in his Head Office.
They are now procuring another controller (AIR-CT2504-25-K9) to manage around 24 AP's in their warehouse.
There is a leased line as well as site to site wireless connectivity between both these sites.
The wireless network in the warehouse is very critical. They would like to have a controller failover of their warehouse APC to the one in the HQ. can you please suggest if this can be done. if so what would they need to procure like additional licenses.
Thanks in Advance
MM

Hi Mitdhun,
The 2504 requires license for access points. The 2504 doesn't support HA(It can support with 7.5 version)  which is what you are describing.
If you older image(less then v7.5)
Then
Your better off just having ap license on both the 2504 and configure as primary and secondary WLCs.
If you have v7.5 then: read this and configure accordingly.

how to change IP adress of wireless controller 2504 . from GUI

In the existing setup, does WLC management & APs are on the same vlan ? If that is the case you may have not configured any of the below, as AP L3 broadcast reach WLC & in that way AP will learn about WLC.
If WLC & APs are on different vlan you may already use one of WLC discovery method listed below.
    1. DHCP Option 43
    2. DNS
    3. UDP broadcast forwarding
    4. Static configuration
When you change the WLC management IP address, AP need to know what is the new IP & you can modify the configuration of the method you used.

    Cause
The fast-start failover target standby database was not within the lag limit specified by the FastStartFailoverLagLimit configuration property. As a result, a fast-start failover could not happen in the event of a primary database failure.
    Action
Ensure that the fast-start failover target standby database is running and applying redo data and that the primary database is successfully trasmitting redo data. If this condition persists consider raising the value of the FastStartFailoverLagLimit configuration property.

  • Does the 2602i require the use of a WiFi Controller?

I would like to setup three Aironet 2602I-A-K9 WAP in my office.  Being new to Cisco WiFi, it appeared that I HAVE to have a WiFi Controller to make this work.  Is that a requirement that requires me to also purchase a WIFI controller?

    Hello Brad,
As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
Yes that is right, you do not need a WiFi controller to setup Aironet 2602I-A-K9 WAP in your office. You just need to download the image and link is

  • Failover Configuration

For failover configuration with Oracle 9i I have used
two database in same m/c. and the listner.ora is as following :-
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC3))
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = tcs052640)(PORT = 1521))
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora_home)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    (SID_DESC =
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora_home)
    (SID_NAME = SPACE)
    (SID_DESC =
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora_home)
    (SID_NAME = UIIVS2)
And TNS Entry which i have used in a m/c. which has only oracle client is like the following :-
    PROD.WORLD =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (FAILOVER = TRUE)
    (LOAD_BALANCE = FALSE)
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS =
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = TCS052640)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = SPACE.WORLD)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS =
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = TCS052640)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = UIIVS2.WORLD)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
Now i am connected to SPACE from that m/c. which has only Oracle 9i client and then shutdown the database SPACE, but
after shutting down client is not dynamically connecting to the database UIIVS2,though I have written "FAILOVER = TRUE" in tnsnames.ora.
It is giving error like :-
    ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
& when I am attempting test connection it is giving error
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
What more I have to do for connecting dynamically UIIVS2 when SPACE is down.
If the database located in separated m/c. is there anything more need to do.
    Thanks in advance.

    Guys,
have successfully done the failover, the failover parameter should be ON in the tns entries - thanks a lot for all of ur help.

  • WiFi Controller MSM760

    Hi,
We have a MSM760 Wifi Controller within our enterprise.
We have 49 Access pointe E-MSM430 connected and working perfectly.
All users conect and get an IP from our DHCP (Same range)
I noticed a weird behavior with our ChromeCast devices.
When my SmartPhone, PC, Tablet, NOtebook are conected to the same Access POint with the ChromeCast i will not be able to discover the ChromeCast inside the ChromeCast APP
When i move away to any other location within the building and connect my Smartphone to a diffrent Accesspoint i will be able to see the ChromeCast device within the ChromeAPP.
ChromeCast with any device using the same Accesspoint do not communicate.
Chromecast with any device using diffrent accesspoint can communicate perfectly.
    What could be the reason?
I tried to connect the ChromeCAst using diffrent TVs and diffrent locations and Accesspoints with diffrent channels, same behavior.

  • Removing Meeting Place 6 Audio Server Failover Configuration

Hi, I have an old MeetingPlace 6 system.
Issue - Intermittently users are getting static and dead-air experience. Looking at Call Manager CDR, the call is trying to route to offline audio server. I verified the IPGateways for failover Audio server configuration and did not find so.
Requirement - I would like to remove the failover configuration sine failover server is offline
Considerations - How do I do this? What do I have to consider?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Amish

    Hi Andrew
I have looked at both the suggestions from you and jdedell12.
    1. Shadow Server - there is nothing configured
    2. H.323 on CUCM - I have two IP GW's configured. Nothing else relevant to Shadow server.
    3. IP GW's - Checked GW SIM config
Interestingly enough, after the Audio server power cycle the issue fixes itself.....I have had this issue twice in the past 9 weeks....random behaviour.
If this occurs again, I am going to reconfigure the GW SIM in the IP GW's. Since IP GW's route the calls, I am thinking that there may be a bad configuration issue here. This is going to be the next area for look out.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks guys

  • WLAN Controller 2504 Update?

    Hello guys,
I want upgrade my controller  2504 to 7.4 or 7.5 and use Application Visibility and Control.
    Manufacturer's Name.............................. Cisco Systems Inc.
    Product Name..................................... Cisco Controller
    Product Version.................................. 7.0.220.0
    Bootloader Version............................... 1.0.16
    Field Recovery Image Version..................... 1.0.0
    Firmware Version................................. PIC 16.0
Ps All my AP's are local
    So here my doubts:
    1: What version recommends 7.4 or 7.5
2: What I need to upgrade first, Code or FUS 1.8?
    Best Regards

.. yes either way would work.
Regarding the image, it is your preference. If you look at the download page you would see special lable "Assure Wave" on 7.4MR1 indicating cisco assured that code for stability. Not all software code get this sorts of recommendation
Reg 7.5, people will move onto 7.6 soon as it mainly released for 3600 with 11ac module support. When 3700 AP comes to market WLC 7.6 code is required. So someone does not want to go for 802.11ac staying 7.4MR1 or (MR2 to be released soon) would be a good choice.

  • Cisco UNITY Failover Configuration with no Computer Browser Service

    Hi,
Actually i'm configuring a unity failover server with version 7, at this point i'm triyng to add the failover server thru the failover configuration wizard which should list the failover server, but in this customer as a domain policy the computer browser service is disabled, reason why the failover server does not appear on the list of computers.
Does any one have any idea on how to deal with this issue?
    Thanks.

  • Controller 2504 supported WLANs ?

We see can create WLANs upto 16 but as I cannot create 2 same SSID. I wants to know if we can create 17th WLAN and how we can if, yes.
As I see we can create upto 512 WLANs. One thing is we can disable the WLAN by default given in the controller and than we will get the 17th WLAN correct ?
And if, there is existing WLANs 1,2,3--6 do we have any option that we can create WLANs with same ssid ?
    Thanks in advance :)
    Basant Lenka

    HI Lenka,
Yes you can create 512 Wlans.
    1. First 1-16 wlan will be in default AP group.
    2. If you will create WLAN id 17 or greater then you will not see be this wlan in beackon but if you create a new AP group and put this WLAN in created new AP group then you will see this.
How to create AP group and assign WLAN: http://rscciew.wordpress.com/2014/01/22/configure-ap-groups-on-wlc/
    3. Yes you can create the 2 wlan with same name:
You can have 2 profiles with the same SSID, as long as the profile names are different. But the  security can't match exactly. This is not allowed by cisco:
When creating a WLAN with the same SSID, follow these guidelines and requirements:
You must create a unique profile name for each WLAN.
When multiple WLANs with the same SSID get assigned to the same AP radio, you must have a unique Layer 2 security policy so that clients can safely select between them.

  • WIFI on 2504. Users can't see any computers in "My network places".

Hello. I'm using 2504 CISCO controller and three AIR-CAP2602I-R-K9 access points. So I organized simple WIFI network with AES encryption. Users can easily connect to the proper SSID and after put a login have Internet access. But they just can't see any computers or shared folders on servers in "My Network Places". If I connect any workstation by wire I haven't this problem. So the issue appears only during WIFI access to the LAN.
Please advise, what can I change in 2504 settings.
    Thank you.

The WLC doesn't block this unless P2P blocking is enabled. The easiest way to test is to create an open SSID and map that WLAN to an existing wired Vlan. Doesn't tweak the WLAN except for making it wide open. Them associate your wireless client to that new SSID and see if they see the resources.
That is the configuration I was telling you about that you had a screen shot of. As long as that is disabled, you should be able to see the resources.

  • Storedge 3510 failover configuration with 1 host

    I people.
I'm new to the storedge configuration.
I have a Sun storedge 3510 - 2 controllers with 2 x host port fc and 1x drive port each.
I want to do a simple configuration - connect 1 host to the storedge with failover.
It's correct to connect the 2 controllers using the drive port - because i want failover?
It's possible to use only 1 pci single FC adapter in the machine?
I will connect the machine with the storedge usinge 1 fibre cable,
I will use the host port FC1. And to do the failover I will connect the 2 controllers
using the drive port fc3 e fc2. - THIS IS CORRECT?
My problem is who to connect the cables and who to configure the storedge. I'm
already connected to the COM Port.
Another thing i have in the first controller amber light - this is a hardware problem?
And wath is the best configuration to use with 3510 storedge, one host, and failover?
Thank you. I need this help for now.. Please.

Isn't it wonderful when people respond?
I, too, am running into the same scenario. We have a single 3510FC that is connected to a single host through two controller cards. The drives are configured as a single logical drive under RAID-5. We want to have this configuration multi-pathed for redundancy, not throughput, even though controller cards NEVER fail. [sarcasm] We will be using Veritas VxVM DMP for redundancy.
Unfortunately, I can only ever see the logical drive/LUN on one controller. The main connection is channel 0 of the primary controller. Whenever I try to configure it to simultaneously be on channel 5 of the secondary controller, the 3510 won't let me do it. I can't figure out how to get the LUN to be assigned to two host channels when one is on the primary controller and one is on the secondary controller.
I find this to be absurd. Controllers fail. That's all that there is to it. Yet the design of the 3510 (and the 3310 as well) seem to fight like hell whenever you want to spread the logical drives across physical controllers.
What's the solution to this one, guys?

  • WLC 2504 HA Configuration

    Hi Guys,
What configuration should I use in order to configure HA using 2x Cisco WLC 2504 ?
    - Do I need to have licenses for 2x Controllers ? I have only one WLC with license installed.
At the moment I have the following scenario below.
    AIR-CT2504-K9 – Primary (30 Aps Supported)
    AIR-CT2504-HA-K9 – Secondary (0 license)
Software Version - 7.6.130.0 (Both Controllers)
Both controllers are going to be in the same place.
Can anyone help me please ?
    Thanks,
    Everton

    Thanks Scott Fella !
    Just one more question.
Should I use a crossover cable to connect the primary controller to the secondary ? Or should I use a switch to connect them ?
    Thanks,

     Searching WLANs
You can search for specific WLANs in the list of up to 512 WLANs on the WLANs page. This feature is especially useful if your WLANs span multiple pages, preventing you from viewing them all at once.
To search for WLANs using the controller GUI, follow these steps"
Step 1 On the WLANs page, click Change Filter. The Search WLANs dialog box appears (see Figure 7-4).
Figure 7-4 Search WLANs Dialog Box
Step 2 Perform one of the following:
•To search for WLANs based on profile name, select the Profile Name check box and enter the desired profile name in the edit box.
•To search for WLANs based on SSID, select the SSID check box and enter the desired SSID in the edit box.
•To search for WLANs based on their status, select the Status check box and choose Enabled or Disabled from the drop-down list.
Step 3 Click Find. Only the WLANs that match your search criteria appear on the WLANs page, and the Current Filter field at the top of the page specifies the search criteria used to generate the list (for example, None, Profile Name:user1, SSID:test1, Status:disabled).
Note To clear any configured search criteria and display the entire list of WLANs, click Clear Filter.
