Wifi defaults to apple site

HI, my wifi provider is BT Openzone. Normally, when I connect to this, I am taken to a BT site and have to enter my details for the wifi connection to be made. Now, whenever I try to connect to BT openzone, the apple site appears instead. As this is a popup, I am unable to enter any other site details. This means that my wifi is now defunct. It appears that the iPad is defaulting to the apple site (I presume for advertising purposes!) which is a major PITA!!
Anyone know how I can sort this out?

You basically cannot use it in normal modes.. maybe universal repeater.. but it can be very flakey. Apple products only do repeater to other apple products.. and you cannot use the ethernet except on the airport express. You are better thinking about ethernet or EOP adapters.. and running a separate AP there.

After I have wait for 30 minutes without do anything, the wifi interface worked.
I don't know if Apple could fix the issue on their site or the reboot of the Iphone solved the problem.
I'm installing IOS 6 on the Iphone 4 of my wife. Let's see if the behaviour is the same.
I will post the informations after finish the installation.

Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

The Apple site says an iPad2 w/ VZW service is charged for non VZW WiFi use as well - true or not?

So this means that I must pay for my own data from basic non-VZW WiFI as if Verizon provided it to me?
I can't find anything on the VZW or Apple Sites that otherwise disputes or confirms this.

Thank You MFK for your input. The data plans with the different allowances at the mentioned link is a reference in the event you wish to use a data connection and use data. Whether or not you need to pay for any access from a non-Verizon Wireless WiFi location depends on what the establishment offers for their data connections. However, some locations do not charge because they want you to visit their place of business.

hi . I had the simalar problems of my HP b209a-m printer not being seen on my wireless network> I could not add the printer and could not get the printer to join my network, I found this post at HP discussion and it worked!
Each printer has different options/settings but it seems like the general idea should work ok if you can reset printer back to factory settings and find Printer IP Adress.
This is for HP printers
1. On the printer navigate to the Wireless or Network menu.
2. Select Restore Defaults.
3. On your computer look for a wireless network named 'hpsetup' and connect to it.
4. Print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer to see its IP address. (on my b209a-m Printer the IP info was found by pressing the Wireless Icon)
5. Type the IP address into the address bar of a web browser to see the printer's internal settings.
6. Click on the Network tab and look for the Wireless Setup Wizard and run it.
7. The Passphrase is the password you use on your wireless connection.
8. Now change the network name on your computer back to your wireless network.
The printer will now be connected to your network. With your the computer backyour wireless network network, you can re-add the printer from System Preferences.
Hope this works--- it did for me.

which plug-in do you want to install?
some of the plug-ins come with an installer on the disk image, you click the installer and it will install it in its proper location.
For others you move the plug-in into to System Library or your User Library:
Your Hard disk > Library > Application Support >Aperture > Plug-Ins > Edit
or
Your Home Folder > Library > Application Support >Aperture > Plug-Ins > Edit
If it is an "Edit" plug-in, it goes into the "Edit" subfolder, "Export" plug-ins into the "Export" subfolder.
You can tell by the extension, what kind of plug-in it is.
E.G. BorderFX.ApertureExport is an export plug-in, BorderFXEditPlugin.ApertureEdit an edit plug-in.

P.S. In OS Lion the Libraries are hidden by default: To reveal your User Library activate the Finder and select from the main Finder menu:
    Finder > Go , then hold down the ⌥-option-key, untill the Library appears in the drop.down menu.
To show the System Library:

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

Look at no. 5 in this text which was copied from Apple's support site for troubleshooting Messages and FaceTime activation.
Troubleshooting Apple ID activation
After each step, toggle iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection. You can complete activation using Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection. Check your Wi-Fi network using standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.
If you receive an error when signing in to your Apple ID, visit myinfo.apple.com, sign in to your account, and ensure that the primary email address has been verified.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location.

Try this out
Drag the folder Macintosh_HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration to the trash and then restart the computer.
Once the computer boots up, Click the blue apple and then select System Preferences and then select Network.
From the Show pop-up menu, choose Network port Configuration' (it would default to Network Status), then drag Airport in the table below to the top position
After that, from the Show pop-up menu, choose AirPort.'. Locate the pop-up menu next to "By default, join:" and choose 'A specific network'. Select your network and then a password (if required) and then click on the 'Apply now' button.
If you are still not connnected to the internet select your network from the airport icon on the right side of the menu bar
Reboot the machine to test whether this procedure fixed the issue

Damaged Zip Files From Apple Site!

I downloaded the iPodtouch guided tour video from the apple site today. When I tried to unzip it with the default Archive Utility it says "Unable to unarchive." I then tried to unzip with Stuffit Expander and it said "An error occured attempting to expand the file . . . The archive may be damaged." The problem is, this happened a few weeks ago with a totally different file from the apple site. I also followed the steps from this forum with no luck:

In addition to the good advise given to you be a brody, I would like to add that you should boot from the install media and repair your system drive. It sounds like the lack of free space has caused file corruption. If you don't repair the system disk, the wild and wonderful strangeness will only continue.

Visit the Apple site you want to be set as Homepage.
Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage:
Apple site should show up and highlighted.
Click the "Set to Current Page" button at the bottom.
Select "New windows open with "Homepage" and
"New tabs open with "Homepage".
Launch Safari, if the Homepage is not opening by default, hold shift key down and launch Safari.

Is there any way to get the Apple site to remember what country you are in?
eg
I go and browse the store, set my location to the UK
then come here and read the discussions
go back to the store and it defaults back to US
Is this something on my machine or can the site not remember what location you are in?

At the bottom of this page, lower right, is a setting that allows you to choose a country location. Set that to the UK. That should be a global setting for all of the stuff collected under Support, and used to act as a global for a person's account - don't know if it still does. Websites that one joins should be clever enough to do things like that, although this one is still under partial construction and some things still aren't working the way intended.
All else fails, bookmark a direct link to the Apple Store (UK) and use it.
