Wifi didn't work

Hi,
I got my i-touch yesterday. I was trying to estabilish wifi conection, but couldn't.
Wifi-link seems OK. (Ipod detects my access point, wep password seemed to be accepted.)
But, ipod shows wrong dhcp assigned ip. I tried static instead. However, still not work.
Tried ping from PC, but no response. Umm does ipod respond ping ??

Yes, the iPod touch responds to pings.
Are you the administrator of the wi-fi access point? If so, few things to note:
1. If you're locking down wi-fi by MAC address, make sure you add the MAC address of your iPod to the MAC address filter list.
2. When entering the password, make sure you're entering the hex code for the right key (ex: if TX key is set to 1, then use key 1 for the password) and not the secret/passphrase.
3. Make sure you're using no more than 128-bit encryption.
4. I have my wi-fi security mode set to WEP. Try that if you have it set to something else (WPA, etc.)
5. Make sure you have SSID broadcast set on your access point set to enable. Once you've established connectivity with your iPod, you can then disable it and the iPod will find it in the future.

IPod Touch wifi didn't work, worked, and now doesn't work...

This is very strange. When I first got my iPod Touch, it coudn't connect to my home router. After 2 days, the iPod was able to finally connect to my router when I had done NOTHING to the router settings. And just now, I found out that it cannot connect again...
I don't know what to think. Is this a defect? Should I call Apple or will my iPod Touch "fix" itself again? This just doesn't make since... o.o

Well...I can now connect again to the internet. I elieve I know what the problem is now. My mom uses McAfee Virus Protection and I think that her software is blocking it when her computer is on. I think a simple "allow" will solve the problem.

I would try another restore of the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. Maybe something went wrong in the process. Make sure everything works before applying any updates and adding any hardware or software.
Then add things carefully, rebooting Windows and testing the USB and audio at each step.
Please note this.
The only info windows gives me for the sound card is that it from Microsoft... with a driver version of 6.1.7601.17514....which naturally doesn't really help me since I have no idea what card or mobo I have . Is there any way for me to find out what I need other than opening up my laptop?
Every one of them lists my mobo simply as a Toshiba motherboard, with no audio card information. Which I'm assuming that is because it has an internal sound processor. My problem is that none of the properties, or ANYTHING I try, will give me information on what I need to fix this...

I'm afraid that unless you are able to contact the previous owner and have him wipe the device, or provide you with his Apple ID password so you can delete the iCloud account, you are out of luck.
With iOS 7, an Activiation Lock was added to deter thieves. This lock prevents anyone but the owner of the device from deleting the iCloud account and restoring the device:

Unless you are able to reach the original owner and get the device wiped or the iCloud account deleted, you are stuck with a brick.

Just an update it is a hardware issue and very common for iPhone 4s. I have to get my phone rewired which basically means new wireless chip. The amount of money I spent on buying an iPhone I should not expect to have anyway hardware problems happening. Make sure you have a warranty as luckily I've saved myself from spending more money to get this problem fixed.

TS1398 Just got an ipad 4generation...I went to join my wifi network. I tried a few times but the pass word I used didn't work. I went to try another pass word and now I don't have the "join" option. I've started over and still no "join" option.

Thanks! Actually, by trying another wifi site we have here at home, I was able to give it another try. For us though, it seems we have an internet problem unrelated to the ipad. We'll have to figure that out.

Since upgrade to ios6.0.1 a few days ago my wifi doesn't work

I received a notification to upgrade to iOS 6.0.1. Ever since then I have been having problems with wifi. Go to a website, safari cannot connect to the server. Go to PayPal app, works ok, login...cannot find server. My Verizon app, login ok, try to go anywhere else on the app, cannot find server! Go to a website, cannot find server! Sometimes I can get to a website...try to click an link....cannot find server. In ALL of theses situations I can go to settings, turn off wifi, go back to safari, hit reload....it works!!!! I have this problem on my home wifi, work wifi, in-laws wifi, Starbucks' wifi. I don't think all these routers went bad at the same time! Oh, by the way, my daughter did the upgrade...exact same problem....my wife didn't....everything's fine! A friend came over today...she has the EXACT. Same problem (yes she has installed the iOS update). My buddy at work has not done the update, no wifi problems!

In more specific terms. The apps that came on the iPod like the weather and maps and whatnot have been working flawlessly. It's just when I download an app and then disconnect from wifi it's almost like I'm on a timer until the app stops working. It acts like it wants to open, the screen flashes black then resets to the home pages. I've tried all of the basic fixes, rebooting, reseting, uninstalling then reinstalling. But like in my...long...question, the reinstalling option only seems to be a temporary fix. I just recently downloaded the 5.1.1 udate (I think that's what it was) does that have anything to do with it, or am I just derpy when it comes to iPods?

Removed. Re-synced. Still not working. Factory reset the phone, re-installed music... made a GIANT "Other" file instead of actually adding any songs.
Factory resetting again. Any other solutions?
EDIT: If It helps, I'm doing this all over USB connection, not trying to sync music through wifi or anything.

As i updated the Personal Hotspot was gone.
It was working good but then the WIFI toggle Got grayed out, got unavailable...
I have restored Network Setting, but no use.

Sorry, but it looks like your device getting replaced by Apple is the only option if you want a phone that is working without problems.

Iphone 5c wifi hotspot not working before ios 8 update after it.

I going through **** lot of issues, after getting an iphone(5c) a piece of ****,straight out of the box bowl full of ****.
1.Wifi Hotspot Problem
2.Overheating problem remains, no effect of ios updates.
3.Itunes ***** in india,update download fails numerous times before processing of file.

I Have a similar problem occurred on my iPhone 5 , after install iOS 8 I can hear by ear speaker but the mic didn't work also volume bottoms didon't work,
