Wifi disconnect at sleep mode

After upgrade ipad to ios6.1 Wifi disconnect at sleep mode   Whay?????????!!!!!!

I had this problem too. Try the following:
Connect to network.
Double tap the Home button to access the app list.
Press and hold, then tap the x on Settings (i.e. close the settings app)
Switch your iPad off and back on again.
This worked for me.
A lot of people are suggesting Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings. Might be worth a try if the above doesn't work, but didn't work for me.

  • Problems with External Seagate GoFlex Firewire Drive Disconnecting on Sleep Mode

I am Running a 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 24" iMac running Mac OS X 10.7.3. I run time machine to backup to an external Seagate 3TB, FreeAgent GoFlex Desk, FireWire Drive. When the Mac goes into sleep mode, the Seagate drive un-mounts. When the Mac wakes up, I get an error that the drive was not properly disconnected and the drive is no longer mounted. The only way I can get the drive to remount, is to remove power from the drive for several seconds and then reconnect it.
I have seen several people talking about this issue in various forums with many various makes and models of FireWire drives, but I see no answers to this issue from Apple. Does anyone have a resolution to this issue, or are we just stuck with this problem? It is terribly frustrating!!!! The lack of response or interest from Apple is even more frustrating!!!

Wish I had an answer, or even a clue about this one. I have a Western Digital MyBook Studio that I've had for a fair number of years now and finally had to resort to just plugging it it as a USB device. Since it's only used for Time Machine backups and storing things I rarely need, it's not a huge burden, but I'd love to hear from anyone with a suggestion as to how to fix this. I recently upgraded from a 17" late 2006 iMac to a Mid 2011 21.5" iMac and would really like to go back to FireWire if it's not going to be a big-ole-pain in the hind end.

  • Bluetooth disconnects in "Sleep" mode

When I wake my MacBook Pro from sleep mode, both my wireless keyboard and wireless mouse do not reconnect... I have to physically turn bluetooth off, then turn it back on to recognize my mouse and keyboard.

Ditto on this problem for me too. Seems slightly intermittent: probably fails to connect nine time out of ten. Also, nature of fault seems to vary: sometimes BT has turned off completely, other times it's on but my devices just haven't connected.
Manual reconnection via BT prefs is a pain but only way I've found thus far to reconnect. Keeping BT in Menu Bar helps to speed things up a little.
    Looking forward to a fix.

  • Keyboard and mouse disconnect after sleep mode

We've been having the following problem lately with our mini: We'll be away from the computer long enough for it to go into sleep mode. But when we wake it, we'll get the screen back and see the mouse pointer on screen, but the mouse will not work and we can't get the keyboard to input anything. There is power getting to the mouse and keyboard, but none of the input is registering.
The "solution" so far has been to do a hard reboot, which fixes everything, at least until the next time it happens. This doesn't happen every time we wake the computer from sleep mode, either.
For reference: We are using the Gateway keyboard and optical mouse that came with the computer which the mini replaced. And both of these are plugged into a USB hub, and the hub is plugged into the mini. (So I realize this could be a problem with the hub.)
    Thanks!

    LucysDad...
Is the hub self-powered (with a transformer to plug in) or buss powered? Buss powered units are no good IMHO. Must have powered ones, when it comes to hubs.
What brand? Port Authority seems to be tops in my book. I don't know whatever happened to Belkin but they went sour for Mac use in or around 2000. Something happened to Belkin's "suspend and resume" function circuits that affects as what we refer to as sleep and wake up mode. Other 3rd party hubs are a toss up so I don't even go there any more.

  • WRT54G2 disconnects in sleep mode

Thanks in advance for any help.  My laptop  HP G60-235DX  is connected to my wireless router, which also connects a Mac desktop and another PC destop.  I have the latest firmware, etc. I have tried several suggested changes in the setup page and my connection is frequently lost....sometimes with the router's power button off and sometimes it's still on...at any rate, I always have to unplug the router and plug it back in after 10 seconds and I'll get back on the internet.  And, yes I have also powered down my router and modem several times.
Right now, the only way I can stay on line for any length of time, is to keep my laptop on high performance and that way it doesn't go into sleep mode when I shut  the lid.  It's a good thing I don't need to use the internet outside my home!!!  BTW, I have also changed different settings on the computer like disabling sleep mode,,,etc...but that doesn't work either.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried upgrading the firmware on your Router. Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop..
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Once you Re-configure all the settings on your Router, Here are some setting which you can set on  your Router and i think this might solve your problem...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -

    - Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...

  • Wifi disconnects after sleep and takes long time to reconnect with Mavericks

Has anyone/ Apple come up with a solution? A workaround OTHER THAN disabling then reenabling the wifi adapter? This is certainly frustrating

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
    3. Reset the PRAM.
    4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    9. Reset the System Management Controller.
    10. This step shouldn't be necessary, but has been advised by Apple Support in some cases, apparently as a workaround for a bug. Open the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences. If applicable, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner to unlock the settings. Enter your administrator login password when prompted.
Select the Power Adapter tab and uncheck the boxes marked
    Wake for Wi-Fi network access
    and
    Enable Power Nap...
if present. Then, if the computer is a MacBook, select the Battery tab and uncheck
    Enable Power Nap...
    11. Reinstall OS X.

  • Why am I having trouble retaining my Wifi signal (during sleep mode)  after I I upgraded to Mountain Lion

Prior to upgrading to Mountain Lion, I never had to log back onto the Wifi signal in my home, but now I do.  Anyone know the fix for this?

    Hello,
Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.

  • OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update still does not fix the wifi shut off in sleep mode problem

OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update was supposed to fix the wifi connectivity problem with my iMac. Wifi disconnects in sleep mode and does not connect when awakened.  Must reconnect manually every time. PITA.

Your observation is correct about wifi disconnection in sleep mode. That is normal, you may want to check to see if your Mac supports Power Nap/is enabled- OS X: About Power Nap
The reconnect should be automatic within a few seconds.
Does it happen with multiple wifi networks or just one?
Have you tried deleting and re-adding the wifi network?

  • Looses Wi-Fi on "sleep mode"

    Hi, great phone btw,
I finally bought that nice phone in germany yesterday.
    everthing works nice exept:
At home I´m loggind in in my W-LAN (Wi-Fi) everything works great but, if I put my phone into, dont know how to call it, "Sleep-Mode" that means, I push the Button on top of the phone (Screen gets black and phone is in standby). So after I push that button again, or the "Home-Button" The Wi-Fi signal is gone and it stands on "Edge". After I slide the the cursor to unlock I fine in my Wi-FI again.
So is this normal, because in the backgroud I have an instant messenger working in safari browser and it also get loose the connection while the phone is an "Sleep-Mode" / "standy mode".
    Hope for an answer.
    Sry my bad english

    IT is Normal...
Reason would be that in sleep mode the assumption is you are no longer using the connection (since no Apple given application runs constantly)
SO yes it is Normal for it to "disconnect" in sleep mode and reconnect when the phone is awakend.
Also helps to perserve the battery life inbetween charges.
Welcome to the forums and also your English is fine.

  • 8560w Wireless Radio won't turn on after sleep mode

Anyone know the fix for the 8560w not turning on it's WiFi radio post sleep mode.  It doesn't happen everytime, but most of the time.  I will be at my workstation and when I close the lid, go to my meeting and turn it back on the wireless is off and I have to go to the "Windows Mobility Center" to turn it back on.
Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi:
What model wireless adapter is in your notebook?
Maybe a driver update will help.

  • Is it normal wifi disconnect when iPhone 5 iOS 6.0.1 is locked or in Sleep mode?

is it normal wifi disconnect when iPhone 5 iOS 6.0.1 is locked or in Sleep mode? i wondering if this normal or not, coz my iPhone 5 disconnect when my phone is locked or in sleep mode,  any suggestion or comments are highly appreciated!

It sounds like to me that Apple has worked out a way that the data service providers can increase your usage of the cellular network to increase your bill which undoubtably has resulted in kickbacks. It is pretty crafty and I'm sure most people won't even notice. What really blows my mind is that they have people saying that it is to save battery life. I can't imagine that the ammount of suppossedly saved battery life is even messurable. Reeks of a scam to me.

  • Need help - wifi gets disconnected when it goes to sleep mode - iOS 6, iPhone 5, WPA Enterprise

Hi, I have read a lot of discussions regarding wifi gets disconnected when it goes to sleep mode on iOS 6, mainly on iPhone 5.
Here is my configuration and it just keeps disconnecting wifi connection once it goes to sleep mode
    iOS 6
    iPhone 5 white
    Purchased on Nov 3
    Work wifi config: WPA Enterprise
I tried to manual add the wifi but it did not work. I tried all except for upgrade to iOS 6.0.1. I had a call to Apple Support and the guy told me I could not trust everything i read from here (well, how dare he is!!!). But I did all I could think of, and read from here.
I am with ATT and I do not have a receiption at all at work. I have to turn it to airplane mode, and use the wifi connection. I put my iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0 side-by-side to compare. My iPhone with iOS 5.0 DOES NOT disconnect the wifi connection when it goes to sleep mode; but of course, we all know, iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0 does
Any helps would be so much appreaticated. I am considering to return the phone to apple store, and cancel my 2 yrs extended contract with ATT. I might think to get another one once they have the issue fixed. It is no point to have an expensive paper-weight at work while I can't use the celluare nor wifi connection.
    Thanks again,

    Hi ChrisJ4203
I have tested it at home wifi tonight. My phone and my wife's iphone (both iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0) do the same.
With cellular data on (aka airplane mode OFF) with WIFI ON
Wifi icon replaced by ATT's LTE icon once the phone was waken up from sleep mode; but within 2 secs, the wifi connection got reconnected again.
With cellular data OFF (aka airplane mode ON) with WIFI ON
WIFI icon disappeared from the top bar after both phones were waken up from sleep mode. It took a while to reconnect to the wifi network (more than 10 seconds).
On a separate note, after i rebooted my phone, i can see it does "searching" the ATT's signal, then it shows "No Service", then next second, it shows ATT with full bars and LTE icon.
My question is, i have never noticed the "No Service" showing up from my iPhone 4. The "No Service" shows up on my wife's phone too. When I first got her phone and was doing the installation, I had noticed the cell signal dropped from full bars to no service, then within few seconds, it went back up. I have not had time to test on her phone again, but it is something I will be monitoring for. I wonder if anyone has similar experience like this.
anyhow, any feedback on how to fix the wifi got disconnected while in sleep mode would be very helpful.
    thanks,
