if the hub lights still seem to be on then you can try downloading inssider2 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
you can also try changing the wireless from default b/g/n to just b/g and see if that helps

  • IMac 2012, 10.7.5 wifi disconnects every 5 minutes

since I update to 10.7.5 it happens always, loosing wireless connection, I'm turning off and turn on wifi to start connecting again,
    found on the forum this:
If the above solution does not work try changing your DNS settings. MacWorld did an article about DNS Troubleshooting that will explain, while it doesn't work for everyone I found it worked for me. Here are the instructions and settings I used that have been working reliably for 3.5 years:
    1. System preferences
    2. Network
    3. Click Advanced
    4. Click DNS tab
    5. Click + sign
    6. Add 208.67.222.222
    7. Click + sign
    8. Add 208.67.220.220
    9. Click OK.
    10. Exit System Preferences
    11. Try out your iMac and report what happened.

it helped me only for 1 day, and disconnecting happens again.. please help.

Hi Roger, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    10.4 instructions...
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.

  • WiFi stops connecting to internet every morning

I've been having a recurring problem over the past few weeks. Every morning, when I remove my phone from the alarm clock dock, it shows that it is connected to my home wifi network. However, if I try to use an app that connects to the internet (the Weather app, for example), it will not connect. The phone does not switch to 3G to connect, just returns a failure message. If I go into settings and switch wifi off and on again, the connection issues are resolved.
Any idea what is causing this problem and whether/how I can fix it?

My iPad WiFi Almost Every Day Keeps Disconnecting, especially if I am watching a video online. How do I fix this?

    Howdy Danny_98,
Here is a great article to help troubleshoot wifi connectivity with your iOS device. Named iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections it can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398.
Be sure that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again. If unable to do so, see this article.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and indicate that they are connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or ISP for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected. Then tap > and Forget this Network. Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network again.
Note: You will need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your desired network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and then on again2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2.For AirPort Base Stations, see this article for information about firmware updates.
Those are the basic troubleshooting steps and there is another section toward the bottom named Wi-Fi disconnects, or signal strength is less than expected that is very relevant as well.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • Wireless accesspoint needs to be reset every morning

We do have 2 airport extreme stations that needs to be reset every morning before users can connect to it.
We connected the airports to a UPS to see if the problem disappeared but it is still there.
One of the lights of the airport extreme is off (left)
by resetting the airport everything is back to normal.
the airports do have the latest software installed.
I do know there is a lot of interfearence in the building.
Could this be the cause or is it something else.

I think I am having the same problem. Every morning and sometimes in the middle of the day when I leave my ocmputer for a few hours I have to restart my DSL modem and my airport as well as a router i have for my VONAGE phone. Everything is working correctly and connected correctly as well. It works fine but when i leave the computer for some time I lose my internet connection. I disconnected my airport entirely and just plugged the DSL directly into my computer and there was no problem so it is for sure some conflict with my airport extreme. I have the main base station which is the Airport Extreme and a express for my stereo and then another express in the back of the house extending the range.
It was all working perfectly when i first set it up but now this just started. i have been on the phone with vonage and with SBC for the dsl and the problem is not with their hardware. I tried calling Apple but they wanted $$ to even talk to me over the phone which I thought was pretty lame.
Can anyone offer suggestions that might help me?
    thanks

  • Constant Wifi Disconnect After Moving To SystemD

    Hi All,
I used netcfg for months with a WPA2 connection using the initscripts. I finally moved to systemD. I was getting dbus errors from systemD using systemctl so updated via pacman which fixed the errors. I did this within minutes apart so not for sure if a kernel update broke something - stupid move on my part.
Any how I followed the wiki guide for netcfg, within a few minutes and after a reboot was happily working away.  I configured the wifi like so:
    systemctl enable netcfg@gloryhole
Then the wifi disconnecting started at random intervals but very quickly, what seems to be less than 3 minutes.

After reading some forums they recommended net-auto-wireless.
    systemctl enable net-auto-wireless
Still no luck, another forum recommended removing netcfg and trying some thing else, since they had constant disconnects. I installed wicd and disabled services that could conflict with wicd.  Disconnect problem still exists
I verified hardware is OK, in windoze wifi card works great, pulled down many gigs with no problem testing. My laptop has native systemD install with wicd and works great so nothing with my AP.

So still being frustrated and tired of having a long cat5 cable across my house I decided to take another whack at this.
First thing first I disabled WPA2 on the AP and let it wide open, even though every other device was working. Was hoping to rule out wpa but instead it got worse.
I first tried netcfg, after removing everything I could find on wicd. The issue with netcfg is I could connect but couldn't surf. A little testing showed that there is a problem with the wifi link established. It won't allow much or any traffic to go through. Pings barely work, surfing was hit and miss.
I decided to just connect via cli, once again removed netcfg, wicd, removed any trace files, disabled related services and rebooted to remove previous entries.

Interesting thing is I am getting a different deauthenticating reason, originally was 2. Deauthenticated reason=3 means "deauthenticated because sending STA is leaving (or has left) IBSS or ESS     The access point went offline, deauthenticating the client" or AP went offline, which it did not. (src: http://www.aboutcher.co.uk/2012/07/linu … on-codes/).
Keep in mind I run my house on the same wifi so if anything went down somebody always tracks me down to fix it. Also my ISP link is not the problem as I was downloading at the same time and not saturating my pipe.  At this point I think it is just easier to run a cable under the house and mount a jack. Ideas?

  • My ipad 2 (ios 6.1.2) continuously drops wifi and every few minutes, i receive tha black scrren with the apple... Any ideas on resolving?  It is VERY frustrating!   If it helps, wifi is connected to our secured home internet.

Help......every few mins my wifi disconnects AND i rec the black display with the apple.... Any ideas to resolve?  I am connected to secured home internet and have not connected to cellular svc.

    Try #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Asha 302 wifi disconnect

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Asha 302 wifi connection. Whenever I connect to my home wireless network, wifi stays connected for a few seconds and disconnects, when I trying to browse the internet, it connects again but after a few seconds disconnects, after 5 or so seconds it connects again and it continues in such a spiking manner. It might not be big of a problem, but I cannot download anything, every time wifi disconnects itself my download fails. Is there a reason for such kind of behavior?
    Best Regards

Did it work once? Or has it never worked, yet? Which Wi-Fi access point do you use (manufacturer, model and if known, the firmware version)?

  • Wifi disconnect when sleep or locked! useless iPhone!

apple is very good product, but if they are like this and told us that wifi disconnect when on sleep mode or even locked, that is totally ******* useless! im a diehard fans of apple, but if this like this tmie to switch to other smart phone, apple is *****!

really? mine is also iPhone 5 black 16 gb, when my phone is locked, i try to call it through viber but it does not notified, the viber is on on notification, wifi also turn on, i observe it,  when phone is locked, then i immidiately click the home button, i think 0.5 sec wifi icon will appear,
it is not all about the internet cause my cousin is having iPhone 4, and he receives notification oh his apps during phone is lock, and i also observe, i will not turn off the wifi, but upon waking up in the morning my phone doesnt have wifi, when i go to settings then click wifi, the is notification Log in then it would say success www.apple.com,
this is very dissapointing, my phone is useless without being notified

  • GTalk keeps disconnecting every 5 mins

    Hi,
I bought a new MacBook Pro running Lion and am having problem using GTalk on iChat. I configured GTalk using both Jabber and Google Talk drop down but have had the same problem.
I keep getting disconnected every 5 mins and would need to login again. Are there any settings that I am missing?

    Hi,
Do you have any other Accounts set up in iChat ?
Bonjour might be easiest if you have another Mac to "Chat" with as we might be talking about Wifi Drops rather than a Server end issue.
Have you tried creating a Second Mac User Account for testing and trying it there ?

    Hello All Who Read This!
I just bought an iPhone 5 on the 21st of March. I ate through 850 MB's in 12 days. I read up on the issue of data consumption looking for tips to conserve data. I did not know there was a problem.
This morning I found out that I was leaking data very little, but daily it accumulates. I am in Barcelona, Spain. I do not have a contract, I am on a prepaid Yoigo carrier.
I happened upon an article/blog by Robert Parks at snnyc.com "problems persist in ios 6.1.2.".
Although his situation did not relate to me, I tried a few tests on my own to see if I could stop the data leak without turning off my celular data and possibly push notifications, I think I found a solution that might help someone:
In ios 6.1.3 goto Settings/Mail, Contacts,Calenders and scroll down to Calendars and turn off " New Invitation Alerts" and also turn off "Shared Calendar Alerts".
My Cellular Network Data seems to be behaving. I only see a change in MB used when I open an ap that uses data.

  • WIFI Disconnecting everytime with N86 version 30.0...

    Nokia N86 model
    Currently using software version: 30.009
After connecting to home WI-FI, it keeps on disconnecting every time.
Has anyone faced the same problem with the latest version.
whatever application i uses with my WIFI connection, it disconnect immediately say 1 0r 2mins maxs.

This sounds like the same issue which i had after upgrading firmware in my N97 mini.
Solution was to disable bluetooth, obviously bluetooth and wlan did interfere.
After that i got stable connection.
When i am done with wlan, i enable bluetooth again.
Give it a try, and report back if it did work for you...

  • Strange macbook pro wifi problems - selective wifi disconnection

I have 3 macbook pros, two iphones and an apple TV.  My primary macbook pro has some very unusual wifi problems that are hard to pin down.  It frequently disconnects and reconnects itself to the internet constantly throughout the day.  I've been testing it in various ways and today I noticed the strangest anomaly by far.
While working today, my primary macbook pro could not connect to the internet through any of the 3 browsers I use.  Airport Utility said the internet was down (internet icon was amber, airport icon was green).  However during this disconnection, my p2p application (Soulseek) experienced no disruption of service and continued to download files.  I opened my second macbook pro and strangely enough, the 2nd mac was able to connect to the internet through browsers without issue, and the airport utility on the 2nd macbook pro said the internet was connected.  My Apple TV was connected too as well as my iPhone.
It is often difficult for me to troubleshoot network problems because there are so many variables (ISP, airport assembly, airport base station, OSX, airport utility, modem) but I guess in this particular instance, it seems clear that the problem has something to do with my macbook pro.
My primary macbook has always had wifi problems (and honestly, my last macbook--the one that actually worked today!--had similar issues back when it was my primary laptop).  Last week, my primary macbook pro had the topcase, display and logic board replaced by Apple.  When it came back, it had the same wifi connectivity issues it always had.  Often, a restart will be a very temporary fix, but not always.
I am at a complete loss for what could be causing these lapses in service.  In fact, right now as I was trying to access these forums, I could not even get my primary macbook to open the Apple Support Site on any browser.  Every other website would open, except Apple Support.  I opened my 2nd laptop and it opened Apple Support just fine.  After 15 minutes, my primary laptop finally opened up an Apple support page in Firefox.
It is really hard to diagnose the problem.  I find that Airport Utility has been so pared down and streamlined to the point that it is worthless.  It is basically a blank window with 2 application logos inside.  It looks very simple and user friendly until it has a problem, and then it tells me to do something very technical without an explanation for the layman (such as assigning DNS servers or putting the airport in Bridge mode).  I always follow Airport Utility's advice, but I still have odd problems.  I am often confused as to whether I should use Airport Utility or the Network button in System Preferences.  They have the same options, but they're arranged under tabs with different titles.
Anyway, does anyone recognize these macbook pro wifi connectivity problems?  Constant wifi disconnection on one machine (while all others experience no connection problems) coupled with instances of selective disconnection (like browsers not connecting while p2p is able to connect or browser connecting to some sites but not all?)
Thanks for any help or guidance

Same exact issue here. It happened once when I updated to Mavericks 10.9.2. It just happened again last night and I can't seem to fix it.
I tried all sorts of things like deleting the SystemConfiguration folder, PRAM, SMC, DNS flush, etc. Nothing helped. As I recall, the last time it happened it mysteriously fixed itself after a day or two.
Very weird problem. I have been troubleshooting computers my whole life but this one is tough to figure out. Other machines in the house connect up just fine.

  • ICHAT disconnects every five minutes...

My iChat disconnects every 5-10 minutes saying the connection was lost -- even though the browser still works! This only happens at my home with my wireless router.
Everywhere else I've used iChat (on other connections) it stays connected..
    HELP!

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
A Browser and even the Mail app if you use it only use the internet now and then.
For Mail this is when mail is collected or sent.
For a Web Browser it is each time you change page (Some pages automatically refresh to keep the adverts up to date)
You may only notice a slight pause in a browser if it is waiting for the Internet to come back.
iChat is a truly "Always ON" app
With any Buddy list that logs in to AIM it will instantly indicate any change in status of a Buddy (On-line, Off line, Status message Changes).
As a result any issue with the Internet connection no matter how short will normally get the buddy list to fold (say Disconnected).
If this Home router is Wifi try changing the channel it uses so not to get interference from other nearby devices.

  • Cannot Receive Calls and Text Every Morning! Pls Help!!

    Hi all,
I am new here. I registered cus i am facing irritating problem with the phone. I dunno if anyone else is facing the same problem.
I cannot receive any calls or sms everyday morning.
My friends told me that it went directly to the voicemail.
However everything back to normal when i make a call out from my phone (basically just need to dail out a number, ppl dun even have to pick up the call!), and it will receive the sms that it missed immediately.
Actually I noticed the fact is that if i dun touch my phone for more than 3 or 4 hours, it went automatically to 'sleep', and it stop receiving calls.....
So now i have to call my landline every morning to active the phone which is so annoying! And my friends went mad too cus they couldn't find me as i was like disappeared.
I don't think its the problem with my carrier cus it all went fine until i updated it in Jan. Its now v5.0.0832.
I have searched other forums and there are some ppl having the similar problem, some said its cus of the "do not disturb" setting, but its no longer exist. So the problem is still unsolved for many others.
Not sure if os 6 is gonna fix it cus there is one personsaid that he still has the prolem although he updated it to 6.
Please please please! Can anyone help me??!!  otherwise i may have to get a new phone,  i am a bit regret now,  i should have bought a iphone4 instead of bb!

This is something you should bring up with your wireless service provider.
    Cheers,
