WIFI EAP-SIM on S650

Hi,
How to activate EAP-SIM on S650. Is-it possible ?
I read on other forum :
With a root phone, modfied wpa_siplicant.conf to add a specific section.
I don't want to root phone to do this.
S650 and other lenovo can use EAP-SIM ?

Whilst supported by Windows Phone 8 it never got many votes as a feature suggestion for Windows Phone 7.8.

sam_kara, this thread is about WPA-Enterprise with EAP-SIM. In your case, you are using TLS or TTLS or … you have to figure out which outer and inner EAP types your company uses. Then you can vote for it:

EAP-SIM Wifi network priority

Hello,
I have a Z10, and my cellular carrier which is also my internet carrier, configures automatically a community wifi network with an EAP-SIM logon.
The problem is when I come at home my Z10 selects the community wifi network and not my personal wifi network.
I tried several time to change the priority of the networks in the wifi settings, but the community wifi network, (which is created by the SIM Chip!!) always come back in first priority...
Can you help me.

Yes,I have "Re-ordered my wifi list", It is what I call "Set the Wifi Priority"...
And Yes the EAP-SIM Wifi come back to the top after a while...
Disable the network is not an option for me: the spirit of a community network is not to turn it off!! If everybody turn it off, there is no more community
And the deleting option is not available in this wifi setup... surely becase it is an EAP-SIM configuration.
I have made some test this saturday, on a friend Galaxy S3 with the same carrier:
There is absolutly no problem on Android: the order of the wifi list does not move alone and this order is respected for the connexion.
I really hope Blackberry can correct the behavior in the OS.

Update with EAP SIM

Free Mobile, provider in France, uses now Eap-sim on his network Free Wifi!
The request of this compatibility will be now important from french customers!
I see that Xperia S has this Eap-sim while it is absent in Android 4!
So it is Sony who has added it!
On my Xperia Mini St15, I have EAP 802.1x but not SIM
Can we expect it on our future updates (Android 4 for 2011 phones)? I hope...:smileywink:

It is very true that Xperia S support this. Other phones do however not support it at this point and I have no information regarding future changes for these phones.
Since Xperia S has it I guess it's not impossible but I do not know if there are any plans for the other phones to get it or not. We have to wait and see I guess. I will try to remember to post again if I get any new info on this.

I want to use EAP-SIM authentication on Lenovo k900 to connect to wifi. Does anyone know how to? because there is no option EAP-SIM on authentication option.

EAP-SIM over iphone5

Does any one tried EAP-SIM authentication with IPHONE5
I see that IPHONE5 is not responding for Challenge message with triples from Radius Server

We seem to have the same issue where IOS is breaking off the EAP-SIM authentication at 6 seconds, while the AP is waiting on a RADIUS Access-Accept, which eventually comes in, but after IOS already stopped the wifi authentication process.

The iPad is loaded with a test SIM which is programmed with following values of Ki and Op and above SRES and Kc were generated using following values:

I have verified GSM milenage algorithm with test keys in 3GPP TS 55.205 v9.0.0 and the algorithm seems to work fine. All results match with the test inputs/results provided in 3GPP TS 55.205 v9.0.0. So I doubt there is some issue with SRES/Kc for above Ki/Op values.

We spent many hours trying to solve this problem.
Our setup:
Cisco wireless setup, using windows NPS for 802.1x authentication.
Certificate base auth, with an internal PKI sending out client machine certs, and also the server cert.
Auth was failing with "reason code 22, The client could not be authenticated because the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) Type cannot be processed by the server."
It turned out to be a GPO setting on the server, that was enforcing key protection.
There is this note on the below technet article:
Requiring the use of strong private key protection and user prompting on all new and imported keys will disable some applications, such as Encrypting File System (EFS) and wireless (802.1X) authentication that cannot display UI. Does EAP/SIM make sense for others than mobile operators?

I'm wondering about the many different EAP authentication protocols. One of these is EAP/SIM (initiated by Nokia). I think the advantage of this authentication method might be the kind of key exchange. Users are familiar in using SIM-cards. Out of this consideration I have some questions:
* Is EAP/SIM as secure as EAP/TLS or EAP/Cisco?
* Does it make sense to use EAP/SIM as an WISP (given that the WISP is NOT a GSM/UMTS mobile operator)?
* What is the position of Cisco to EAP/SIM? Will Cisco support it?

Does Cisco Aironet 1131G really support EAP-SIM ?

I have tried to configure EAP-SIM authentication on Cisco Aironet 1131G for Wi-Fi Offload but unfortunately I couldnt make it work. As far as I understand the Wi-Fi standard it is fully supported in 802.11n within WPA2-Enterprise standard. I have read Cisco datasheet for 1131G where your are claiming that you support EAP-SIM in WPA2 also. I have tried to configure it according to configuration guide but it always requires to enter password key first when I try to connect to SSID with configured WPA2 and EAP-SIM. Can you please provide us with additional info how to properly configure AP or confirm that EAP-SIM needed for seamless 3G/Wi-Fi authentication is supported only within WPA2-Enterprise.

How to use EAP-SIM on Nokia C7-00?

We have a new mobile operator in France (Free mobile) and it announces that we can connect to its network using EAP-SIM.
Is it possible with a Nokia C7?
I found a setting in the EAP-SIM network destinations of my C7 but I don't know how to set it up.
Here's what I did.
I add a new access point:
- parameters
- connectivity
- parameters
- destinations
- Internet
- options
- New access point
- Automatically check for available access points? Yes.
- Access points available: Wi-Fi
- Select a Wi-Fi: FreeWifi.
Then I select the new access point FreeWifi and I change:
- Wi-Fi security method : WPA/WPA2
- Wi-Fi Security Settings : EAP
- EAP extension parameters : EAP-SIM checked only.
In EAP-SIM:
- User name used: from the SIM card
- Username: empty
- Domain used: from the SIM card
- Field: empty
But when I use this access point, the connection works but the browser displays an error page.
I have a username and a password that I use to connect to Free hotspots with my smartphone or my laptop.
Should I use it in the EAP extension settings?
There is a field "user name" but no "password" field and I don't know what to put in the field "Domain".

iPhone Wi-Fi works perfect without SIM Card. With iPhone working perfect, remove SIM Card if you like, or just go Settings>Airplane Mode>ON, this will block SIM Card.
To turn Wi-Fi on Settings>Wi-Fi>ON, very easy. No SIM Card is needed. You can even make perfect internet phone calls with just Wi-Fi.
