Wifi frustration w/new Ipod Touch 4G

I am not able to connect to my home wifi.The bars are showing but no connection.Same info has been put into the new Touch as on my old 2G.Laptops and the old Touch connect but this new one refuses.I have done the reset,the forget the network,unplug the router etc. Any other ideas would be helpful.I just got this ipod tonight but was hoping this was not going to happen because two yrs ago this was also a problem. It should not have to be this hard to get results.Thanks!

I have the same problem as well, when my ipod is in standby for a period of time i.e, 20 mins then i wake it up the wifi icon is there instantly but there is no internet. I have found if it turn off the wifi setting on the ipod then on again, then it works again. Or if i restart my router it works again. Until it's in standby for a while then it goes back to no internet ? I have been trying to solve this by resetting the network settings on the ipod, also changing settings in my router i.e, disable mac filtering, even done a firmware upgrade and reset to default settings. Nothing cures it at all !! and what it annoying is that all the other wireless devices in my house work perfect all year round, ie laptop, my wife's iphone 3g, my son's ipod touch 3g, my blackberry, my printer etc.
So what the **** is wrong here ???

Setting up Wifi on a new ipod touch

I just recently purchased a new ipod touch and would like to get some help setting up the wifi connection. Currently, when I open the network tab, the wi-fil notes that it is not connected and there is no indication that it is scanning as their is no blue symbol beside the ipod lettering at the top of the screen. Also under network it has VPN versus DHP. I have both the Wifi and ask to join networks indicated as on. I am trying to connect it to my airport extreme which is in turn connected to my dell computer. Any assistance would definitely help ... thanks ... kl

If you are running an Airport Extreme, check your settings to make sure you are not running in N mode exclusively. Your touch can only operate with WiFi b/g modes.
Settings > General > Network is not going to give you any information at this point that is meaningful for you. VPN is something that is not normally used on home networks but maybe used when you access your work network remotely.
You want to use Settings > WiFi > Other Network to input your network name if your iPod can't see your network. Once it sees your network name, tap on the name to start the connection process. Next, input the encryption method (usually WPA2-personnel on Airports) and your network password. Assuming everything works as planned you should see a check mark next to the network name, a lock symbol if you have an encrypted network, and a blue >. Tap the blue > to make sure you have an IP address (other than 169.x.x.x), subnet mask, router IP, and DNS IP. You will also get an Airport signal strength icon on the top left of the screen showing you are connected to WiFi.
Let us know if you have any other problems.

I just purchased a new 4th generation iPod touch today. I've been trying to activate it, but I cannot connect to the WiFi in my house. I am online able to use my WiFi but I cannot connect to my WiFi from my iPod touch? Help please.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Can't connect to my wifi with my new iPod Touch 5g?

I've been having this problem for two days now.
I can't connect to my home network.
When i'm trying to connect, it keeps moving around as if it is trying to connect but never connects. I let it for 30 minutes this evening.
Let me tell you what i did:
I restarted both my iPod's and Home's network. Didn't work
I restored the iPod's software and it didn't work.
I tried to connect to others wifi networks and it does work.
To my home network i connect others devices as well. I have my computer, ps3, etc etc.....Even my phone
I don't know what to do. Can you please help me?

Brand new ipod touch 3 frustrating slow wifi

Dear all, I just opened my brand new iPod Touch 3 yesterday and it connected to my wifi network without any issue.
But then, the browsing has been a joke. Not a funny one. It is slow like you have no idea. I could load only 4 pages in the whole evening. The google front was one of them.
I was sitting right next to the router. It didn't help.
I cannot say I was loosing the connection. Only that loading any page was next to impossible.
My provider of internet is www.get.no in Norway.

Update: I previously advised the following quoted manual set up. I thought had solved problem but it returned. I now have found I think the real root of slow iTouch on Airport Wifi Network. Seems wireless telephone is interfering on 2.4 freq. Channel for 2.4 Freq was set on 1. I have now changed to channel 6. I have now being operating Two iTouch at same time for several hours with no freeze and acceptable speed. Anyone else having hang ups, slow operation, etc. would suggest trying channel change on 2.4 Freq., especially if you have wireless tel. in house.

New iPod Touch arrived from Apple today - Wifi inoperable

Brand New iPod Touch 32G just showed up from Apple via Fed-Ex today. First thing I tried was to join my Home Wifi. Same result as everyone else. DHCP is failing and the device gets a self-assigned IP address 169.254.X.X.
Before you start asking me about my router et. al., know that I have been working on this issue for 5 hours now. Had Apple on the phone for over an hour. They had me completely strip out iTunes on my Mac, and re-download and install it. I've upgraded to iOS 4.3.3, did a complete Restore of my BRAND NEW iPod, Reset Network Settings, h*ll I reset the entire device even after a FULL RESTORE. Tried Airplane mode On/Off. WiFi On/Off. Etc.
The clincher was taking this FULLY RESTORED iPod Touch to the Starbuck's across the street, next to a Verizon store. This device cannot even get on Starbuck's WiFi nor Verizon's WiFi - BOTH Public and Open.
I have a Verizon MiFi Mobile Hotspot as well - Same symptoms - No assigned IP.
I was able to get networking to my home Wifi to work, BUT ONLY IF I SET A STATIC IP PARAMETRICS. This is a solution to my Home Network, but not for ALL the OTHER Public WiFi networks out there.
Multiple Networks - Apple has a REAL problem here!!!
Please! Suggestions are welcome, but please don't ask me to repeat all the diagnostics I've already done.
(I wish these things were as easy to diagnose as my Android devices! At least I can shell in and see what's going on in those!)

Bought a new Ipod touch and the WiFi does not connect. Tried Reset and total Restore, does not connect to Router on DHCP, tried Static manually and still can not get it to connect even though it registers as connected.

Second, Airport is an Express and I have a second one that I carry with me when I travel. Tried to connect my Airport Express to the internet and could not although the iPod did recognize the router and tried to connect to the internet for some time, unlike my previous problem. Updated firmware on my travel router, still could not connect to the internet. Going to try to set up a manual Static IP on the travel router here in a few and conect through it although I predict the problem will persist. Back on the Christmas Present Airport Express router, it is back in play and working fine for all devices save the iPod.

Why not just erase the iPod and start over, using her Apple ID. Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings, then you can start over with the initial setup of the device.
Alternatively, your Apple ID may have been entered in:
Settings > iCloud
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive
Settings > FaceTime
Settings > iTunes & App Stores
Sign out of your ID in these menus and sign in with your wife's Apple ID.

Brand new iPod Touch 4G won't reconnect to WPA Enterpise wifi network

I have a brand new iPod Touch 4G. Wifi connection at home, where I have a WPA2 "personal" network, works great. However, at the office, I have a WPA/WPA2 Enterprise network. The network is not hidden, but the only way I can connect to it is via the "Other..." option, because I need to specify WPA Enterprise. This means I need to type in the network name, my userid, and my password to connect to it.
The problem is that after being asleep for about 15 minutes, the iPod is not able to reconnect to the network. When the iPod awakes, it does not automatically connect to the network. When I go to the Wi-Fi Networks setting, I can see the network name in the list. If I click on it, my iPod says, "Unable to hoin the network xxxxx". If I click on the (>) next to the name, I'm given the option to forget the network, which means that the iPod remembers the network, but somehow it can't connect to it. My option is to "forget" the network and re-establish it by hand. Obviously, this is not acceptable.

I know WEP is bad, but the other thread implies that some iPods/iPhones running iOS 5.01 show WEP Enterprise as an option. It seems to me that my iPod has a different wifi chip in it, which is why it's broken, even though my iPad running 5.01 works. Maybe the new wifi chip does not support WEP Enterprise? It does offer regular WEP though, so I'm still confused.

What type network is yu router set up for? The 4G iPod can only connect and see 2.4 GHZ networl like B, G and the 2,4 GHz N. There is also a 5 GHz N but the iPod will not even seethat network.

New ipod touch cant read wifi

Just got a new iPod touch for my daughter. Have connected to Wifi as I do via my iPhone but it is unable to read the Wifi connection even though the Wifi symbol is shown.
My Iphone seems to have a problem too however other devices in the house can connect no problem to the same Wifi.
Has my Wifi become apple phobic ?
