Wifi hardware not detected

After upgraded to Lion OS yesterday and after some software updates, I always have to restart once when I start up my iMac to allow the wifi hardware to be detected automatically. On a fresh boot-up, the iMac will take a long time to boot up and will go to a login page where I have to key in my password. After logging in, the wifi hardware cannot be detected and I have to restart once to allow the wifi hardware to be re-detected successfully.
Also, Lion OS seems to be a bit laggy as compared to Snow Leopard. There are times where my iMac seems to be less responsive whenever I executed an action or a link on a website.
Anyone encountering this problem as well? Any suggestions?

I have 2 similar threads posted myself. It only happens on a fresh boot after you system has been off for a few hours. When you get to that login page, click restart at the bottom and after it restarts the menu bar will work normally and wifi is back. I have been on the phone with Apple Care about this 3 times and they take it as a non issue. My computer is set for automatic login and not to ask for password on wakeup, but after my machine has been shutdown for more than 2 hours, it always takes a long time to boot and asks me for a password. If I give it the password, the Lion system is slower than poo and wifi and many other things do not function properly.
Next time you get to that login screen, click the restart at the bottom and on next boot everything will work normally.
So far that is the only solution I can find and Apple Care tries to explain the bug to me as a feature of some kind and not a problem with my Mac or Lion. I have the iMac 2011 i5 model... and with Snow Leopard everything was great.
And BTW, even if you do a fresh install of Lion, this bug still remains! I fresh installed twice instead of upgrade and this is the most annoying bug of them all. Have to restart the iMac just to boot, ridiculous.
PS: resetting the SMC did not help the booting problems in my machine. Only fixed the fan problems after installing Lion. Even if you leave the machine unplugged all night, still will does this on reboot. So far from my other thread, I have noticed this issue has been in late model iMacs and Macbook Pros... but hasn't affected the rest of the Mac product lines.

When I am trying to set up my computer to get TV from my set top box the computer identifies my signal and shows a small picture of the live TV.  When I click on next I get a message - IR Hardware not detected.  Can someone please tell me to what this refers?  My wireless remote works and the set top box has an IR cable that is only a few feet away.  My TV remote picks it up easily.  Is there more hardware that needs to be bought for the TV to work with this computer?

  • "HARDWARE NOT DETECTED.." when try to update LiveDrvUni-pack(E

    <FONT face=Verdana size=3>Hello,
    <FONT face=Verdana size=3>
<FONT face=Verdana size=3>I had Blaster Li've 5. installed was worked perfectly until XP-SP2 installed it's got some sound problems so I decided to check my sound card for update then I try to update Li'veDrvUni-pack(ENG) and I got message that my sound card is not found. I used diagnostic is failed "Hardware not Detected". But is weird that I reinstalled software from original CD and check back with diagnostic it's worked then failed again. I tried too many ways but still not detect, here how I did some...
    <FONT face=Verdana size=3>- Re-installed software and removed card.
    <FONT face=Verdana size=3>- Re-installed card after computer run completed process without a
    <FONT face=Verdana size=3> card. Then reboot twice.
    <FONT face=Verdana size=3>- I have Intel 8280BA <FONT face=Verdana size=3>audio <FONT face=Verdana size=3>controller and Unimodem Half-Duplex
    <FONT face=Verdana size=3> <FONT face=Verdana size=3>audio device build-In my system board I disabled them.
<FONT face=Verdana size=3>- Updated Drivers and shown working properly.
<FONT face=Verdana size=3>One thing I could not understand that my sound system working fine and Devices Manager shown hardware working properly and I tested my speakers is working (I had Creative 5. speakers) why I could not update software due to hardware does not detected. That had worked well with XP-SP. I doesn't know is that caused by SP2 or else's.So if anyone has some kind like this problem please helps me that would appreciate.

let me ask you when you install your new dri've your sound card was in the slot or nothing was there beside your video card, i had this problem, i install fresh windows with nothing else and use lowest slot for the sound card and then restart the pc works perfect , try that see if that works good luck,

  • I replaced optical drive, now MacBookPro is very hot and wifi hardware not installed

My late 2008 MacBookPro 5,1 2.53 GHz laptop's optical drive would not record last week. A lens cleaning didn't help, so I replaced the optical drive Tuesday evening with iFixit instructions. Other than stripping one of the screws holding the drive in place, all seemed pretty straightforward. I had to disconnect the camera cable to get the drive out but replaced it. After putting everything back together, the new drive seemed to burn discs well and everything (including the camera) worked perfectly.
Last night I came home to the laptop, which, as usual, was sleeping and connected to the AC adapter. Not as usual, it was really hot. I restarted it and when it rebooted the wifi icon had an x in it and said wifi:hardware not installed.
I reset the PRAM and the SMC. No luck.
I have an appointment to take it to a genius bar tomorrow afternoon, but what could I have done without realizing it?
Thanks for any suggestions (I have been working on Mac desktops and laptops for a number of years...this is the first time anything like this has happened to me...)

That is true.  I cannot think of any way to test the Optical Drive without swapping it into a known correctly operating MBP.
A thought which probably may not be an issue.  When I installed an Optical Drive in my old (2006) MBP, I remember seeing in the instruction manual an item called a grounding pad (which looked like a tiny steel brillo pad with out soap) which was missing in mine.  The MBP worked and I essentially ignored it.  Perhaps that may not be case with your situation.
My thoughts are that the Optical Drive is malfunctioning and the cause of your problem.  Perhaps you should consider getting a new replacement from OWC.  But that entails a $100 risk with no guarantees of success.
    Ciao.

My wifi is on and when it tries to find a wifi connection, the gray little circle just keeps spinning and will not detect our home wifi. I have tried to search for it and connect to it manually, but it will not search for the network name. I'm hoping I don't need a new phone so please help.

  • WiFi Adapter not detected on T530

Hi there, I just purchased a refurb T530 form the Lenovo outlet and have had enormous problems with the Wifi Adapter. Machine: T530 Win 64 Pro Wifi card Realtek I know there have been many similar discussions of this issue in the past, so I can start by eliminating certain possibilities based on previous posts.
    1. The plug-in Ethernet functions fine.
    2. Toggle power switch has been tried, as well as FN+F5, which generates a message about no supported wireless adapters being found.
3 WiFi card does not show up in the Device Manager (DM). There are no errors for other hardware components listed in the DM.
    4. WiFi does not show up in the BIOS.
    5. Lenovo support sent me a replacement WiFi card, but an Intel model, which immediately generated an error message upon bootup about a non-compatible PCI card. I reinstalled the original Realtek card and still cannot see it in the DM or BIOS.
    6. Have tried loading and unloading various drivers with respect to both the WiFi card as well as power management and hotkey features.
This is brand new machine, and hence will go back to Lenovo under warranty service, but I would much prefer to handle this without the shipping hassle back-and-forth, plus I would like to understand the underlying issue to prevent its recurrence (especially if it's software based and not simply a defective chip). Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If adapter isn't broken, fitted to the slot preperly and turned on it should be recognised by system on the pci-e bus and seen in the Device Manager at least as Unknown device.
To ensue that open powershell window and copy-past (via right click menu) the following string:
    Get-WmiObject Win32_PNPEntity | Where-Object{$_.ConfigManagerErrorCode -ne 0} | Select Name, DeviceID
If adapter is recognised but doesn't have drivers installed, you'll see its description.
Or you can check wireless adapter by its description context:
    Get-WmiObject Win32_PNPEntity | Where-Object{$_.Name –Match “DeviceName”} | Select Name, DeviceID
Replace "DeviceName" in the string above with "Raltek", "Wireless", "Adapter" etc. (keep the quotes)

  • Wifi Does Not detect my network but does others

    Hi there,
I managed to get great responses last time I had an issue and now I'm back.
Here's the issue and I will also say what I've tried so far to fix it.
    ISSUE
On-and-off my laptop cannot detect (and hence join) my own Wi-Fi network, even when right next to the router. My neighbours' networks are all visible.
This issue is not consistent and is sporadic.
It is not a hardware issue - I'm currently (reluctantly) logged into my Windows partition and am happily using my Wi-Fi connection through that.
It's not a router issue as
    a) It's a new router
    b) I can connect through Windows (as can my wife on her netbook)
    c) My iPod Touch connects no problem.
My network is not a hidden network, it is fully visible. It is, of course, a secured network and no-one but me knows the password to the admin panel of the network.
    _WHAT I'VE TRIED_
    a) Restarting the computer doesn't fix it
    b) Removing the connection settings from 'Networks' and restarting it doesn't fix it
    c) Deleting the system preferences list from Library|SystemConfig|Preferences doesn't fit it.
    d) Turning the router off for a while and then back on doesn't fix it.
    e) I've just done a DiskWarrior check and that didn't fix it.
I have also done a complete reinstall of Leopard and then restored my files etc from my external hard drive (configured to use Time Machine).
    I don't know whether I've covered everything, but it's certainly a start.
A couple of weird things - sometimes leaving it overnight means it re-finds my network - but no explanations. And the fact that this issue is inconsistent.
Please help, as I really am getting tired of it (I've tried working around it for a couple of weeks now) and am out of ideas.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
It sounds to me like an IP address problem.
Under "Applications" go to "System preferences", then under "Internet & Network" select "Network" Select the kind of network you want to connect to, go to advanced under "TCP/IP" It should say "Using DHCP"
    Write down the IP address.
Try renewing the DHCP lease. Then try connecting to the network.
If that doesn't work, find a computer that can connect to the internet and check the IP address of that computer the first three sets of numbers should match the IP address you wrote down, if they don't normally I would have to tell you to go through terminal and find an unused IP address to select, but considering you probably are never going to access the network through both parts of the partition at the same time, you can safely use the IP address that Windows has. How to get that IP Address I can't really help you with though...
Once you pull the IP address that the windows side is using go back to the advanced settings page and select "use DHCP with manual IP address" in the space for IP address enter said IP address, and click apply. And hopefully you will be having a grand ol' time on the web.

  • Wifi  does not detect networks

    Hi,
I have an Iphone and the wifi works fine but i got a second one for my sister and with 5-6 networks in my building it cannot detect them . the "thinking circle" spins and spins and nothing .
I mentioned i have an iphone to let you know that i know how to use it and i have a wireless network set up in my apt plus other 4 of my neighbors .
maybe some of you experienced the same thing . i ran out of options ...is it a hardware problem ?
PS i just upgraded both phones to 2.0
    thank you much

Try a fresh restore on the phone (do not install a backup) and see if this solves the problem.
    Turn off your phone.
Restart your router (i.e. turn it off at the mains for 30sec the on).
Try accessing the network on your sisters phone only.
Failing that book into a Genius Bar at your local Apple store as this is potentially a hardware issue, due to the fact you have a phone that works fine.

  • WIFI NETWORKS NOT DETECTED

I just bought an ipad 2 and at home in Paris (France) it worked fine. That means that it detects all the surrounding WIFI networks and connect perfectly on my personal home network.
I am now in Torino (Italy) and the ipad searches wifi networks and do not find any. My iphone and my Galaxy Ace (Samsung phone) instead find all existing networks and are able to connect to the one for which I have the password.
    What to do ?
    Merci
    Marc

If I could I would do but the wifi on which I want to connect is the Torino University Network and I cannot update its "firmware".
Also this does not explain why NO NETWORKS are detected while 10 are detected by my mobile phones.
It seems from the forum that the simplest action recommanded was to shut off the pad and then light it on again. I have done that without results.
What is the next simple action that I can do ? Go to an APPLE STORE ?

I am having a issue with my Mac Book Pro 15" purchased June 2009. I have upgraded to Lion when it was released. Everything was working perferctly fine. During last few days sometime it shows 'No hardware found" for wifi. After 2-3 times restart the wi-fi comes back. Sometime the it also gets hang. I think this is happening after 10.7.1 upgrade. I have not yet taken to Apple Store for support. If anyone having similar problem and if they have resolved, please post your findings. Thanks,

  • SB X-FI extreme Gamer/supported hardware not detected!!!!XP Pro 64

I have worked hours to get this working in my Rig. Is there a fix yet. Please say yes someone,,,anyone please help.tried different slots and manual install!!!NO GOOD!!!!It is a boot issue.what can i do?please help..thx

    F. Yes,I purchased the soundcard seperately.//09 from Best Buy.. This is how long i have been trying to get the card to work. I guess I`m a glutton for pain. Here goes;I tried many manual driver install and found that if the system does not?see/identify the card in the?PCI slots you cannot install any software for the card because no hardware is supported by the software on the system. This is the major brick wall. I have removed the Card many times and reinstalled and still no detection. I have not tried the card in another PC but,If you read?the other description i gave you will see that the card did work for 9 days and boy was i happy... Then i powered up the?PC one morning, low and behold no sound.By the description i gave in the previous reply I am back where i started. I did delete all files and programs affiliated with creative/soundblaster and removed and reistalled the card and more of the same.No Detection!!!!!I hope this helps.

  • Internal Hardware not detected?! [HELP]

    Hey guys!
So recently my Mac crashed and stopped working as explained there: Major crash?
I was thinking, as everyone, that this problem was coming from the hardware. So I got a new one, and tried to install it. BUT the problem is still here! It just doesn't detect my internal hard drives anymore!! (For the ones who didn't read the original thread, the flashing folder with a question mark on it was appearing each time I was starting my mac, and I couldn't repair the disk since it wasn't detected.)
What could prevent my hard drives from being detected?? Can it be fixed? Thanks in advance!

Please see this link https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Parts/MacBook-Pro-13-Inch-Unibody-Model-A1278-Mid-2 012-Hard-Drive-Cable/IF163-041-1

The guide to replacing the cable is https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Mid+2012+Hard+Drive+Cab le+Replacement/10379
There are three things in the chain Logic Board -> SATA Cable -> Drive. If your drive cannot be seen in Target Disk Mode but works in external enclosure, I would consider the cable before assume that the logic board has failed.
