I think wifi in Europe works OK.  We've had electricity and water installed for a few years now, and they seem to be working.

  • Can I use face time using wifi from europe to the US?

If I turn off cellular and data roaming for Europe, will I still be able to use facetime via wifi to contact someone with facetime and wifi in the US?

    Yes.

  • Can I use my US iPhone free on wifi in Europe?

I will be traveling to Europe with my US/AT&T iPhone 5. Can I use it there for text & email  via wii with no charge?

I am going to turn off the data and the cellular when I leave. Will that be enough and can I till use wifi without them?  I intended to use e-mail & text messaging (recipients also gave iPhones.)
Have read horror stories of people getting large bills & do not want to be one of them. I will be cruising for a few weeks & really only want access via wii in hotel for e-mail & messages.  I will also  have an iPod & iPad with me.
Please advise if any of these could run up extra charges, however I do not even have plans with my iPod or iPad.

  • Using Skype via WiFi in Europe

The Skype app on my Verizon (Droidx) phone will not allow me to access wifi networks.  It forces me to use the Verizon network.  I understand that.  My question, however, is what happens when I take the phone to Europe and try to use Skype via wifi there?
Will the Skype app STILL refuse to let me use a wifi connection?  Or does it "Know" I am no longer in a Verizon area and allow me to use wifi?   (I experimented by putting my phone in 'airplane' mode, then turning on the wifi.  Other apps connect fine, but Skype app won't allow a wifi connection.  So the mere absence of a Verizon signal does not permit the use of Wife).  Can anybody answer this question?
    Thanks!
    David

Yes - just as you in the US. Just don't forget timezones!

  • FREE WiFi in Europe?

When I buy an iPhone and travel internationally, will I find a lot of free WiFi hotspots in Europe/United Kingdom (especially France, Italy, Germany, England, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark) as there are here in the US? Where are they...hotels, cafes, airports? Mostly in major cities like London, Paris?
What are the best sources for finding them? Thanks.

The short answer is no. In the UK at least (and Europe relative to the US) there are pitifully few free hot-spots. In the UK there are two major free hot-spot sources you could use, there are about 1200 McDonalds restaurants with free WiFi, and fourteen Apple Stores each of which provides free WiFi.
    See http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/pages/global/wifi.html
    and http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/storelist/
Another supposed source of hot-spot availability is http://www.jiwire.com/ but I found their lists to be woefully out of date.
If you had a UK O2 iPhone you would get included free WiFi access to 'The Cloud' group of WiFi hot-spots, and I suspect if you had a T-Mobile one in Germany then you would likewise get access to theirs. As however you are an American (Wearwolf) in Paris/London/Berlin, your AT&T package will not include accessing European commercial WiFi hot-spots.
While the WiFi coverage in the UK is good and covers airports, stations, Starbucks, etc., nearly all of them are charged for.

  • IPad plus WiFi in Europe

    Hi,
I am travelling to Europe and will buy an iPad plus WiFi + cellular to access internet. Which U.S. cellular provider is the best choice for use in U.S. and U.K.?
Is it simply a case of buying a UK sym card and using with the ipad? I know vodafone do a sym card that no expiration date. This would be my preferred method of U.K. internet access if it works with the iPad (previously I used a Dell laptop to good effect).

All the newer iPads work in Europe and worldwide using wifi or a local GSM sim.
With respect to use in the USA, there are two different technologies, GSM and CDMA. In the USofA if your provider uses CDMA then your iPad must also use CDMA. But regardless, they all can use GSM worldwide.

  • Can I use my iPad2 wifi in Europe?

I'm going to Paris. Can I use my iPad2 WiFi over there?

Only while you are in the airplane heading over there and returning. Airplane mode turns off sending and receiving.
Don't forget to take it out of airplane mode when you land.

  • Verizon iPhone wifi in Europe?

I just pre ordered the Verizon iPhone, and will be going to France later in the month. I realize that this phone will not be able to make regular calls from there, however I am wondering if I would be able to use wifi on the phone to connect to Skype and make calls home that way?
    Thank you!

    Yes.

Yes, wifi is the same wherever you are - if it's a protected wifi network you will just need to know its password.

  • No internet access, wifi is on

    Hi,
I've just got my 1st BB 9300. Data Services is turned off, wifi recognised (in Manage Connections my network is ticked and network name displayed in home menu. However cannot browse internet at all.
When Data Services is on browser works fine. But I don't want the charges, of course.
As suggested by a post, I tried changing my router to WPA2-SPK but this has not worked. Any suggestions please? I bought this BB to browse on wifi in europe but mainly in UK.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You MUST leave Data Services to ON for browsing to work (even on Wifi).
The device will automatically use Wifi (if both Wifi and Carrier data are available).
The only way to ensure only wifi data is being used it to turn your Mobile Network to off. (You won't receive any calls or SMS).

  • Can I use my mobile hot spot in Europe?

Can I use the mobile hotspot feature on this phone in Europe?

Cmcculla, I hope you're planning on having some fun in Europe and not just business! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Galaxy S III is not a global device and will only work on WiFi in Europe. A future update is expected to add global capability to this phone, but it is not available at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Travling to Europe and Google Voice

I am going to Europe and i have a Google Voice account. I got the GVMobile+ app from the app store and it seems to work well. I know Google voice allows you to pay and make cheap calls from the US to Europe, but if i am on WiFi in Europe can i make free calls back to the states?

I have not personally tried it, but quick google search point to this video:
