WIFI in Hotels

not connecting with an IPAD on WIFI in a Hotel, after the login screen appears, everyting stops

Some hotels have tech support for that problem.  In my travels, I've found this to occasionally happen.  When it does, I mostly "punt" and go on to the next hotel.
Today I was in a Tully's Coffee shop where they have free wifi which I've used many times.  Today, the Tully's sign-in screen came up and I messed up checking the "agree to all the fine print" requirements. I "think" I may have hit the "I DON'T agree..." box.  Whatever I did, I could no longer log in to their system although there must have been 8 others who were on line.
I even did a reboot without success.  I'm wondering if Tully's put a cookie on my iPad that said I didn't agree with their requirements to log on?  I just cleared my cookies and cashe.  Next time I'm at Tully's it will be interesting if I can get back on their network.

  • Can't connect to wifi in hotels in Ireland with iPhone 5

Can't connect to wifi in hotels in Ireland with my iPhone 5. My iPad 3 works fine. When I enter the wifi password for the network I always get the error message "Incorrect password for XYZ". No problem with iPad 3.

Returned home only to find the same situation with my home network. Much time on chat support with Apple. Short story long: Must have been corrupted software. Had to restore original original software then add back apps and music. Couldn't back up before doing the restore so I lost a bunch of pics, but at least the phone is working once again.

Have you tried clearing Safari? Clear Safari, close Safari completely and reboot your iPad. Try again.
    Go to Settings>Safari>Cookies and Data.
If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6 you close apps like this. Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
If you are running iOS 7, you close apps this way. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Weak signal, interference, network congestion? Ask the hotel when you experience this problem. I travel a lot on business and some hotels have better quality wifi than others.

  • Open wifi in hotels

    Hi
I have 2 playbooks that we're trying to use in a hotel.
the problem we seem to have is this - the wifi is open and gives you access when you enter the code on the first web page you see - which is pushed at you byt the hotel servers.
Problem is that the playbook hangs on obtaining IP address
I have a friend who is there now with that problem - what she has done is to link her iphone then tether the playbook to the iphone
    A bit odd...

I discovered that if I was having difficulty getting the hot spot login page, I had to disable Bluetooth on the the Playbook.  I think it knew it was having problems connecting via WiFi, so it tried to run out the Bridge connection.

  • Ethernet cable internet access only No WiFi in hotel MBA user

Am assuming I need to carry my own Airport Express with my MBA as I am in a hotel that has ethernet cable internet access only - no WIFI? If so, what do I need to know about how to get MBA and Airport Express to "talk" to each other in these types of hotel situations?
    Thanks for your assistance

    Hi Elegba,
Curious... did you consider the USB Ethernet adapter for the MacBook Air? A whole lot cheaper of a solution for a hotel without WiFi. Not to mention, I've found (after initially struggling to justify the purchase) that I use mine more than I originally thought.
However, to answer your question. You'll connect the Ethernet to the AirPort Express Base Station and configure it via the AirPort Utility on your MacBook Air. It's very straight-forward and you'll be creating a wireless network. You may need to first get setup with your 'in room' connection, though, I know most hotels have a proxy connection for web access. While you should still be able to setup the Express, it's just something to keep in mind.

  • HT5439 Connection wifi at hotel

When connecting to wifi at a hotel, one must access the Internet to access the terms and conditions. How do I access the Internet using Apple TV?

You cannot as ATV does not have a browser.  Speak to the hotel and ask if they have a wifi or wire that does not need internet style verification to join it.  If you intend to airplay the device must be on the same network too whick may be a problem if the let you wire.

  • How to connect to password protected wifi in hotels etc

On my iPad the login page automatically pops up and I get access pretty easy. How does this work for Safari on my MacBookPro ? I struggle to get access

Some hotels will only allow one connection per room at a time. You might want to check with front desk at the hotel to find out about their policy.

  • Wifi hotel log in screen how to

Just checked in for a week of vacation and get free wifi at hotel but have an "agree" screen. How can I still use the apple tv for kids? (works fine or computer because is can "agree" but never see such a screen with apple tv. Can't access the router to reset either
    Any ideas? Thanks

Your only real option would be to use the computer to connect via wi-fi and then share the internet connection over ethernet.
This will work in theory but the T&Cs for the service might prohibit sharing.

  • BT OpenZone in Hotels (Roaming Partners)

    Hello,
Just rang BT Openzone department to find out i can not use my login credentials for BT Openzone with BT's Roaming partners, e.g. wifi in hotels.
I was under the impression that if i sign up for FON, i can use all BT Openzone networks.
I totally dont understand this and have since cancelled my FON subscription.
I was told that i can only connect to someones BT Home Hub that has Openzone or Fon enabled.  Bit impossible when you are out in the sticks and no houses with BT Fon enabled a!  Thank god for the mobile network!

    CG Over An Out

    Hi Raid,
I am very close to the exchange and can get the 8Mbps as advertised. My BT Home hub also shows 8 Mbps in DSL settings.
I find i only get about 1 or 2 Mbps, on rare occasions i get about 7 or 8 Mbps. Someone said to test a download of MS XPSP 3 network file which downloads at 2 Mbps.
On my sisters bt internet i get about 6 Mbps for same file and connected to the same exchange however she lives a bit further away from me.
My mobile has hsdpa or whatever it is called and seen download speeds at 2 Mbps but just seems so much faster than BT's 2 Mbps lol if you get my drift!

  • IPhone 5 WiFi Stopped connecting to Home WiFi

So as of a few months ago, my Iphone 5 stopped connected to many WiFi networks (hotels, Free WiFi etc). I thought this was a network load issue. As of about a week or so ago, it stopped connecting to my Home WiFi.
I have tried EVERYthing. Reset network settings. Reset router. Power cycled both several times. Hard wipe and restore. Static IP. Changed password of network. Changed SSID of network. Changed WiFi version. Changed Channel. Changed security settings of network (WPA/WPA2/WEP). Another iPad running older versions of the OS has no problem connecting to the network and neither does the MAC and a samsung galaxy.
It still does not work on SOME networks. It DOES WORK on enterprise networks and other places.
I went into the genius bar this am - RUDE customer service. Didnt understand the problem. Brought the manager over and he didnt have a solution either. I am hoping someone on the communities has an answer.
    Thanks!!!

I'm having the EXACT same problem!  My iPhone 5 used to connect easily to our and every other network till about a month ago.  Now it rarely connects and if it does, is showing speeds of 0.25/0.25 Mbps.  There is another iPhone 5, two 5c's, an old iPad, and several computers at our house and NONE of them have a problem connecting. I read about this problem on another forum, tried all the suggested fixes and nothing helps.  Genius bar is the next stop.  I'll let you know what they say...

  • IPhone 4 wifi portal login with drop down menu

    Hi,
I'm extremely happy with my iPhone 4. I use it often in WiFi hotspots (hotels, university, train stations etc) and the new portal log in system is really handy. Previously I used a third party WiFi portal logging in app which is now no longer necessary. HOWEVER, there seems to be a problem with the iPhone 4 remembering log in protocols for WiFi portals that include selecting an item from a drop down menu before logging in. For instance, the WiFi hotspots in trainstations here in the Netherlands work with several protocols depending on through which organisation you can log in. Before entering your log in details you have to select through which organisation you have access to such a hotspot. The third party logging in app was able to remember how to do this, but the iPhone 4 auto logging in thing (sorry, I don't know the term) does not remember. It's frustrating to have to fill the details in every time. And I can't even use the third party app any more because it needs primary connection to the local WiFi before it can log in, and the iPhone 4 won't give a primary connection if you don't fill in the details to log in (and if you do, you're already logged in and the third party app is useles...)
Sorry for my rant, I'm wondering if there's a way to make the iPhone 4 log in tool-thing remember the protocol for logging in with drop down menus, or if there will be an update to fix it...
    Thanks,
    Tasmin
    P.S. I'm running iOS 4.1

are you sure your stop() are in the right place??
eg.. on the last frame of the onRollOver animation??
also... why have you got on(releaseOutside); ???
    onRollOut will suffice.

  • Why is the youtube is not working if i am connected with other wifi... But its working if im home... Help me guys

    Hi... Please help meguys

What is 'other wifi'?      If it works at home, but not away from home then the host of that wifi service may be blocking or slowing down their service.      Does it work at all, start and stop, or is there nothing at all?   Many public wifi or hotel set ups are crowded, with many folks sharing a single connection.  You tube needs a good fast connection to work well.

  • 3G vs WiFi security

When come to sensitive data transmission, which is more secured? 3G or WiFi connection?

3G is encrypted over the air and cannot be casually intercepted. You still need a VPN to protect your data over it's entire path beyond the mobile network and across the Internet, of course.
Wifi depends on the network to which you connect
Public wifi in hotels etc is generally run with no security and is easily intercepted within the range of the wifi signal.
If you have to enter a password to make the wifi connection then there is some security from casual snooping but you have to check what it is
WEP - easily cracked and should be treated as insecure
WPA - secure provided that the password is well controlled. If a hotel uses WPA but leaves this weeks password on a noticeboard the network is not secure
The wired network from the hotel access point back to and including the Internet should be treated as insecure in all cases and again you need to be running a VPN to protect that part, or ensuring that you are using https if your application runs in a browser
