Wifi interface hanging on startup after enabling GDM service

I've got a fresh install.  I wanted to boot directly to a gnome login screen so I enabled GDM using "netctl enable gdm".  After I did that, I can't boot to a prompt. instead, it hangs on "brcsmac bcma0:0: brcsmac: brcms_ops_bss_info_changed: associated"
If someone can tell me what log file to post, I can just switch to a different console and post it to pastebin.  I just don't know which to paste.
Thanks!

You could paste it here within code tags, for rapid readability
Beside that, the module is loaded, but the first output is missing. I'm interested to know what is the pID and vID of that device, so I hope to find more informations.
One more think Brand and model of your hardware.
Are there conflicts with module b43?

  • WebLogic 10.3.2.0 hanging at startup after "The server log file is opened."

    Hi,
    A WebLogic 10.3.2.0 server is hanging at startup. There are no error messages. The last command in the startup window is:
    "The server log file <log file dest> is opened. All server side log events will be written to this file."
    I think the next line should be:
    "Security initializing using security realm realm."
    Any ideas on what could be the issue? For instance what resources should be accessed at that point of time? There is sufficient space left on the (virtual machine) disk. The VM configured with 8GB memory. Could it be performance related still?
    Following is written to the log file:

  • Failed boot after enabling devmon service with systemctl

    I've recently reinstalled Arch and in trying to get a proper automount solution working I was playing with udevil and devmon. First I disabled and uninstalled ldm, which wasn't working as I wanted. Then installed udevil via pacman. I couldn't find proper instructions at first so I ran:
    # systemctl enable [email protected]
    and then rebooted. But that didn't work. Then I found something saying to run:
    # systemctl enable [email protected]
    So I disabled devmon@ and enabled devmon@MYUSERNAME then rebooted.
    As the system was shutting down it seemed to get stuck at a part about trying to save a random seed. I walked away for 10 minutes but when I came back nothing had changed so I hit the hard reset button. As it rebooted I could just barely see a whole lot of red [FAILED] signs flashing past my screen. When the screen comes to rest I am greeted by this. Once it gets to this point it doesn't accept any input from the keyboard except for Ctrl-Alt-Del which seems to cleanly reboot.
    So far I've booted my arch install cd and run the following on all my partitions along with trying the -p, -r and -a options.
    # fsck /dev/sda2
    Nothing I ran seemed to produce any output that would suggest there are any problems or anything like an error code 8, which I've read elsewhere is an operational error, whatever that means.
    Next I read up about chroot and gave that a go. I chrooted into my arch install and decided to disable the devmon@MYUSERNAME service and uninstall udevil incase that was interfering somehow. I also checked out the journalctl per the screenshots instructions but didn't really understand it. Also not sure on where that log information is stored so I can upload it here.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I've not made any progress with this issue. I've decided it has to do with the random seed, but I can't find any information on it via ArchWiki, searching the forum or google.

  • I can't get paddy power app to open after enabling location services?

    i have reinstalled twice. keeps telling me to enable location services. have done several times and restarted. also cleared cache. same problem with betfair app. ipad 3 and latest iOS.

    Sounds like a Codesign issue.  From terminal, type:
    codesign -vvv /Applications/iTunes.app/
    You should see:
    /Applications/iTunes.app/:  valid on disk
    /Applications/iTunes.app/: satisfies its Designated Requirment
    But if you see:
    /Applications/iTunes.app/:  a sealed resourse is missing or invalid
    [lists reources]
    You can either delete the offending resouces (risky) or try redownloading and reinstalling the latest iTunes.dmg from Apple.   Try the reinstall first.

  • Firefox 9.0.1 hangs on startup after update (OSX 10.6.8), even in safe mode.

    I shut down Firefox because some parts of the www.washingtonpost.com site no longer displayed (icons), and Firefox automatically installed the update on restart.
    Then the "Well this is embarrassing..." Restore Session screen popped up, but the program hung a few seconds after I clicked Restore Session. I had to Force Quit to close it.
    Every time since then Firefox presented the same Restore Session screen, but hung after only a few seconds. Until I tried working with Safe Mode, and turning off customizations. Now it just hangs on a blank screen.

    Try to reinstall Firefox 9.0.1.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    *Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    *Install the new version that you have downloaded
    Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
    *Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
    *Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
    *Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    *Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
    *Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
    *If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • [SOLVED*] system hangs at startup after grub screen

    My system is hanged after the grub window. I choose Archlinux, like always, apparently starts to boot and the next screen is frozen. It says:

    systemd-fsck[208]: /dev/sda1: recovering transactions file

    systemd-fsck[221]: /dev/sda4: recovering transactions file
    systemd-fsck[221]: /dev/sda4: clean ...
    And that's it. It frozes in this point. I didn't make any update since 3 days ago. Yesterday the computer runs well.
    I tried to enter into Fallback mode, but I get to the same point.
    Any suggestions?
    Solved partially: I connected a second screen this morning. When I disconnect it, the system starts. Now I have to solve how to add a second screen because when I add it once the system is running, it hangs.

  • Windows 7 hanging at startup after oracle 11 g installation

    hello Folks,
    I'm using a dell laptop with i7 processor , 8 gb ram and win7-64 O S. Like the above mentioned issue its getting hanging at the start up and almost taking upto 5-10 mins to load other services and applications. Is it something related to this particular version? Because 10 g was running perfectly in the same machine. Is there is any other alternatives other than manual starting of oracle services...
    Can i get a clear solution for this ....Thanking all in advance....

    Pl post exact Win 7 version and exact "11g" version - pl note that Home version of Win is not supported for any Oracle installs. 11gR1 has not been certified on any Win 7 version. If you wanting to install 11gR2 on Win 7 Home, use a Linux VM - pl see my blog (linked in my profile) for detailed steps.

  • Computer Hangs at Startup after Tiger Install

    Hello !
    I've tried to install
    Tiger on my regular Desktop Computer. Everything seemed to be going okay. It finished
    loading and then told me it was going to restart. Upon restart the apple icon appeared and
    then the little rotating disc below the icon. After about three minutes the Apple Icon disappeared and was
    replaced with the symbol of a circle with a line through it. As it was in the same gray as the apple icon so
    I wasn't sure if it was part of the restarting process or not. When the screen persisted for another ten minutes
    I decided to leave the computer on over night to see what the morning would bring. The screen was still the
    same in the am. I tried to restart it and the same thing happened and continues as I write this. I can't use my

  • IMac won't startup after restore from time machine

    After I restore my backup from time machine ( twice ) mi iMac halt at startup and won't startup. It stuck at the apple logo forever.  I also restarted holding down command R safe mode and install OS X and it will startup okay but can't see my buck up files and applications here. Then I restore from time machine again using an earlier backup and it won't startup again. Please any help I will appreciate.

    There could be a few reasons for this.
    First what version of OS X do you have installed?
    What version of OS X is the Time Machine Backup file from?
    Did Reinstalling OS X from Recovery install the same version you had before reinstalling?
    If you have not changed OS X versions then:
    It sounds like there may be a bad file in the backup that is causing the computer to not startup after restoring it. This is especailly true if the computer boots just fine after a fresh installation of OS X, but without the Migrated Data being restored.
    If that is the case, then the solution is not a quick one. You have to hunt down the bad file.
    Moving Files Manually (Not in Migration Assistant)
    Manually access your Time Machine backup folder from within Finder (you should see the backup drive in a Finder Window or on your Desktop). Once open, manually move data from the User folder (documents, music, movies, photos etc.) into their respective folders on the Mac. Reboot after each folder you move to see which folder contains the corrupted file then delete the affected folder/file after reinstalling OS X from Recovery.
    If none of the files cause the computer to hang at startup after moving all your User data, then the issue is from within the System or Library folders.
    NOTE: DO NOT manually move Applications, System, or System Library files over to the Mac. You can cause major issues with the current installation by doing so. It is safer to just reinstall all the Apps from wherever you got them so they can recreate their support files and such themselves.
    2- Using Migration Assistant
    Basically, if you have discovered the affected file. You can just simply delete it from the backup folder.
    Reinstall OS X after you have done that, and use Migration Assistant to automatically migrate the data over minus the affected file/folder.
    Its a pain in the rear, but it will at least let you salvage most of your data.
    Let me know what happens riorec!

  • RV120W WAN interface doesn't automatically re-enable after WAN connection is restored

    I found that RV120W WAN interface doesn't automatically re-enable after a cable pull and re-plug.  I have to go into the Status->System Summary and click the "Enable" button.  Is this normal on this router?  Can I prevent that from happening? I would hope this is NOT normal as this would mean that I would have to be on-site and login to the web interface to re-enable it after a power failure or WAN link loss.

    Tekliu,
    Thanks for the response. But, as I mentioned in my prior post, this is, unfortunately, the designed behavior for this device, at least with a static IP and no ISP login. Cisco Small Business Customer Support was clear on this and didn't even open a ticket. I asked that they submit a feature request to change this behavior in a future release. Of course, they couldn't make any promises.
    One possible source of confusion is the different circumstances that can occur. In my testing, the interface does come back up automatically on a soft reboot. It also comes back up automatically if both the RV120W and the upstream (WAN) device are power cycled together. I believe this is because the upstream device comes up much faster and is up before the RV120W. The case we are talking about is when the upstream device is cycled or the cable is pulled while the RV120W stays up. In this case, the WAN port remains disabled until you manually select the button on the status page.
    Thanks again for following up on this.

    After upgrading iOS 7 on my iPhone 5, the wifi is not working . It cannot detect any wifi nor am I able to enable wifi under settings. Is there a way for me to fix this?

    Hi samer almasri,
    If you are having issues with enabling Wifi on your iPhone you may want to try a couple of things to troubleshoot. First of all I would quit all open applications on the phone and try again. See this previous thread for how -
    How do I close apps on my iPhone with iOS 7?
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5581063
    Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
    Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

    If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

  • ITunes 10.5 hangs on startup if Personal Hotspot is enabled

    Hi,
    I've seen lots of people reporting Itunes hanging on startup but i've not seen anyone mentional the Personal Hotspot feature in relation to this.
    On my particular phone/laptop the following is reproduceable 100% of the time.
    Connect iPhone to laptop with Personal Hotspot disabled, iTunes starts ok.
    Connect iPhone to laptop with Personal Hotspot enabled, iTunes hangs on startup.
    I have an iPhone 4 and iTunes 10.5.3.3
    Martin

    It's been 2 days and I still haven't found a fix. I can't sync my iPhone or iPad, nor can I access any of my media through iTunes. It's becoming really frustrating.
    I have discovered that if I disconnect from the internet then I can access iTunes, or if I create a new blank library I do not suffer the crash. However, internet access is critical for me and my library contains 30,000+ songs and over a hundred playlists, and the idea of rebuilding that from scratch is frankly very very unappealing.
    If anybody has any other solutions I would be incredibly grateful if they would share them.

    After enabling File Vault, it asked me to retart my Mac.  I did that, logged into the account I provided file vault access to, and now have been stuck for hours at a screen that just shows the "no" icon (circle with a diagonal line through it) with the spinning progress wheel underneath it.
    I let it do this overnight and then restarted the Mac this morning, logged in again, and I'm back at the same screen.
    I have a full backup and can restore from that if necessary, but my bigger issue is how can I get filevault to successfully work on my Mac.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Update based on some additional troubleshooting:
    I've now been able to recreate this three times by following this sequence (I've started to restart more frequently to pinpoint where things go wrong)
    Reformat Mac partition (leaving Boot Camp alone)
    Install OSX 10.6.3 using the install disc that came with my computer
    Run software update until all updates applied (requiring a few restarts)
    Install Lion
    Restore applications and my local user directory using Migration Assistant and my Time Machine backup
    So far so good.
    6. Restore "other settings" (I believe it's called that) in Migration Assistant.
    This is when the issue first appears.  Not sure what setting would cause this issue, but whatever it is, it effectively makes my Mac HD unreadable.

  • [SOLVED] Cannot bring wifi interface up

    Hello,
    A bit of a newbie here...
    I've just installed archlinux on a laptop and I'm trying to get it to use a static IP on the wireless (already suceeded to get it working with a static IP on the wired network) via WEP to an access point that doesn't broadcast its ESSID.
    I have set up a netctl profile which runs at boot time. Said profile seems to run correctly and I even get an IP address for the wireless. However, it doesn't seem to bring the wifi interface up and typing "ip link set <INTERFACE> up" as root seems to have no effect. I have already installed the firmware for the card and I'm not successful in getting a connection.
    This is the output of the commands I've tried so far:

    Thanks for the pointers, Strike0. The wired-wireless failover scenario does look quite interesting. So I'd like to explore that option more extensively. I attempted to create a master bond/failover connection via netctl with two slaves: one for the wired connection and another one for the wireless connection. For the wired connection I used a netctl profile and for the wireless connection I used a systemd service manually setting up the wireless connection, somewhat following the wiki pages you refer to.
    All three services start up correctly, but when I unplug the ethernet cable, the wireless network doesn't take over. It seems that it's not really connected.
    Here's the details of my configuration:
    The master failover (bond) netctl profile:
    # cat /etc/netctl/failover
    Description='A wired connection with failover to wireless'
    Interface='bond0'
    Connection=bond
    BindsToInterfaces=('enp2s0' 'wlp2s3')
    IP=static
    Address="192.168.1.5/26"
    Gateway='192.168.1.1'
    DNS=('XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX' 'YYY.YYY.YYY.YYY')
    SkipNoCarrier='no'
    The failover wired netctl profile:
    # cat /etc/netctl/failover_wired
    Description='Failover wired network'
    Interface=enp2s0
    Connection=ethernet
    IP=no
    SkipNoCarrier=yes
    ## For IPv6 autoconfiguration
    #IP6=stateless
    ## For IPv6 static address configuration
    #IP6=static
    #Address6=('1234:5678:9abc:def::1/64' '1234:3456::123/96')
    #Routes6=('abcd::1234')
    #Gateway6='1234:0:123::abcd'
    The systemd service for the wireless network:
    # cat /etc/systemd/system/network-wireless\@.service
    [Unit]
    Description=Wireless network connectivity (%i)
    Wants=network.target
    Before=network.target
    BindsTo=sys-subsystem-net-devices-%i.device
    After=sys-subsystem-net-devices-%i.device
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    RemainAfterExit=yes
    #EnvironmentFile=/etc/conf.d/network-wireless@%i
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/ip link set dev %i up
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/iwconfig wlp2s3 essid MYNETWORKNAME
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/iwconfig wlp2s3 key 0123456789ABCDEF
    #ExecStart=/usr/bin/ip addr add ${address}/${netmask} broadcast ${broadcast} dev %i
    #ExecStart=/usr/bin/ip route add default via ${gateway}
    #ExecStop=/usr/bin/ip addr flush dev %i
    ExecStop=/usr/bin/ip link set dev %i down
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    After rebooting the machine, I see that all three profile/services started successfully:
