Wifi keeps switching off for no reason, home hub 5...

Hello there,
We've had a problem recently in that our wifi keeps on packing up for no reason. We are living in a new build so all the lines should be good, and when we first got our BT broadband installed on 21st May this problem didn't occur. However in the last week the internet suddenly stops without warning, with the light on the hub flashing orange  and then turning orange. Either leaving it for a while or restarting the hub a few times and we get reconnnected and the light turns blue. It is a problem that is becoming increasingly frustrating and tedious to have to deal with.
When connected connection is good: with ethernet download speed is about 30.5 mb, upload speed is 7.05. Using wireless this drops to around 10.5 download and 5 upload, which is acceptable for the area we are in, which isn't exactly famed for the best speeds. We have three computers, a printer and handheld devices connected, but not usually all at the same time.
We have had an engineer come round a couple of days ago, and he switched the master socket to a different room (?!) and suggested that this would resolve the problem, though I was skeptical. I was proven correct because the issue didn't resolve itself. I have no idea whether the problem is to do with the hub, the line, the socket or the exchange, though BT doesn't seem to be any the wiser either. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?
I have done a quiet line test, and it seems fine. Ateady very quiet hum (was using cordless phone), with the occassional slight crackle but only noticeable when listening very hard.
Would like to point out that usually the broadband is more prone to giving up when downloading large quantities of data, such as downloading a film, music or a large game, and less so when web browsing. However this doesn't exactly make the situation any better.
Any suggestions anyone??

    1. On your iPhone 4 press and hold both the button and the Home button for about ten seconds. After ten seconds you should see the Apple logo showing up.
    2. Now try to run you phone again and see if it works.
If a hard reset the still can't get the device back to a working order.
    1. Plug in the device to the cumputer and start iTunes.
    2. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake + Home for 10 seconds.
    3. Once you see the Apple Logo appears, release the power and continue to hold down the home button for about 5-10 seconds. Look iniTunes and see if your device have shows up.
    4. iTunes will notify you that you are now in Recovery mode. Click on OK to continue with the restore process.
    5. Next press and hold on the SHIFT button and click on the Restore button. Select the latest IPSW file and the prompt appears.
    6. iTunes should now attempt to get your device back to the manufacturer setting.
    7. iTunes will later give you an opportunity to restore you content from the PC. Every time when you do a sync, iTunes makes a backup so you can choose the latest backup from the sync.

If the reset does no work
    Try:
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    Maybe the replacement is defective.

  • Wifi keeps switching off

    Hi
My WIFI connection to my I-Phone 4S keeps dropping when I'm at home & I don't understand why??
My partner has access to the same WIFI with the same handset (although different network) & the laptop picks up WIFI too
But for some reason, my I-Phone keeps dropping the signal & I'm using so much data it's a joke....
    Any ideas will be appreciated
    Cheers

    Hey Bretf75,
Thanks for the question. I understand the Wi-Fi connection on your iPhone 4S drops unexpectedly. That definitely sounds frustrating. The following article provides some troubleshooting steps that may help to resolve your issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Wi-Fi disconnects, or signal strength is less than expected
    - Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
    - Check for sources of potential interference.
    - Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
    - Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My iPhone 5 keeps turning off for no reason

I have not dropped it, it will just be sitting on my desk and turn off, and then I have to hold the power button and home button to get it turn tun back on after a few minutes. It has not gotten wet, and I have not done anything to the iOS at all.  any ideas?

Connect device to itunes and hold power and home together
When it restarts, immediately release home key
Keep holding the power button for 3 secs
Without releasing power, hold home too for 10 secs
Then release power but dont release home
Keep holding it for about 12 secs(until you hear device detection sound)
Your phone is in DFU mode now
Click restore in itunes and see if it works
If backup is not possible, you will lose all data

The cpu fan may not be function causing the computer to shutdown. Does this happen when you walk away from the computer for awhile? Could it be set to hibernate?
the product specifications states the under some condition your computer may shut down not sure what that means?
    from product spec
CPU performance in your computer product may vary from specifications under the following conditions: 1. use of certain external peripheral products 2. use of battery power instead of AC power 3. use of certain multimedia, computer generated graphics or video applications 4. use of standard telephone lines or low speed network connections 5. use of complex modeling software, such as high end computer aided design applications 6. use of several applications or functionalities simultaneously 7. use of computer in areas with low air pressure (high altitude >1,000 meters or >3,280 feet above sea level) 8. use of computer at temperatures outside the range of 5°C to 30°C (41°F to 86° F) or >25°C (77°F) at high altitude (all temperature references are approximate and may vary depending on the specific computer model – please visit the Toshiba website at www.pcsupport.toshiba.com for details). CPU performance may also vary from specifications due to design configuration. Under some conditions, your computer product may automatically shut-down. • Iphone keeps turning off for no reason

My iphone seems to shut off randomly.  It acts like the battery is low. I have to plug it in to get it to turn back on.

Sounds like a hardware problem with the battery or something else.
Make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • My iPad shut off for some reason.  The battery was charged.  I couldn't get it to turn back on until I pressed the on button and home at the same time. Why did that happen?

I had trouble upgrading my iPad2 toiOS 5.1.I have had it for about 1 year.  I had never upgraded it.  I tried a few times but I kept getting a message that I would loose everything on my iPad if I did.  I bit the bullet andfigured that I would restore it from the back up on my laptop.  Some of the backup files were corrupted.  I was unable to retore my exchange email or my notes from the noted app.
Today, my iPad shut off for no reason and I couldn't get it to turn on again, even though the battery was 70% charged.  I had to press the on button and home button to get it to come back on.

I'm not sure what problem you are experiancing but it would be well worth contacting apple.
If you have had it for less than one year it should be covered under warrenty

  • HT2471 Wifi trouble- keeps switching off automatically.. Help

    Hi
Currently using an imac late 2009 with updated OX lion 10.7.4- Having trouble with the wifi, it switches off automatically every 5 to 10 mins but doesn't prompt me for a password when I switch back on. Appreciate any help out there. thank you!

    Hey G,
This is a common problem with wifi. The obvious answer is that your channel you have setup your WLAN on is experiencing noise from the surrounding devices (including other dodgy routers) and interferring with the signal.
Try changing your channel number on your router to another channel, usually automatically set to 11. I had no end of problems exactly like this but as soon as I changed channels, not a single drop even after three months.

in the lenovo wifi driver update link it says b4 u install the new update u should check for the following:
Notes: If you use ThinkVantage Access Connections, the following software must be installed.
ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows Vista version 5.21 or higher
Lenovo System Interface Driver for Windows Vista version 1.00.0702 or higher
ThinkPad Power Management Driver for Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP/Vista version 1.51 or higher or ThinkPad Power Management Driver for SL Series version 1.44 or higher

Notes: You may need to re-enter security information after updating the Wireless LAN driver.
Notes: Before installing this software, you should install Windows Vista fix module KB932063. The detail information and how to obtain the KB932063 module is located in the following Microsoft's site. To verify if the KB932063 module is installed properly:
Click Start, then click Control Panel.
Find 'Programs and Features' and click. If this option does not exist on the window, choose Classic View to find it.
On 'Tasks' pane, click on "View installed updates".
Verify that KB932063 is included in the list of installed updates
i know my access connection version is 5.21..
but how do i check the other stuff? where is the lenovo interface system tray? where is the hot key tray? how do i check the versions of all these drivers?
and if all is update - i just need to install the exe file of the new wifi driver? how should i do it?

HI ive recently bought an iphone 4s, which has started switching itself off for no reason, the battery is fine and im shutting down all open apps ( a common battery drain - ive seen people complaining about the lack of battery whilst unaware that all their apps are still running).
    Any ideas anyone?

Start with the basics. Try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off that shows up first).
