Wifi Locking in but nothing happening

First off I love the Itouch! Second I am just a little frustrated because I cannot seem to get the wifi to work in my itouch away from my home. I lock into a wifi hotspot yet I cannot get my weather apps or stock apps updated. I get full bars and I have tried renewing my lease and still I get nothing. I am however able to use my Itouch at my home with my Linksys wireless router without any issues.
I take the Long Island Railroad and would like to use my Itouch on the train. Also while waiting for the train I would like to use this in Penn Station. The RR station does have free wireless hotspots and there two Starbucks so I am not at a loss of having wifi hotspots.
Any help would be great. Thanks again
I know there are many posts concerning matters of the wifi system on my Itouch but nothing seems to discuss this problem.

I have a Linksys router at home and found the following solution. This also seems to be effective on the one public Wifi site that I've tried:
Go to settings and the choose Wi-Fi. This should display a list of available networks where you are and should indicate that you're logged in to one already (if not, you'll need to choose a network).
Push the blue circle with a ">" symbol inside it that appears beside your network name. This brings up the "IP Address" page. On either the DHCP or STATIC tabs, check to see whether more than one DNS address is listed. In my case, my home router listed three different addresses, all separated by commas. I deleted the first two and kept the last address and everything seemed to work.
On the public site that I tried, only two addresses came up. I deleted the first one and kept the last one again. I haven't tried keeping the first one so I'm not sure whether the solution is specific to the last DNS entry.
But try this and let me know whether it solves your problem. I'm still running firmware 1.1.3.

IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • I can't connect to the router in my home.  Things were working fine as usual - I attended school and connected to their WiFi network as usual.  When I returned home I could not connect to my own home router.  The Ipad seeks the network but nothing happens

I can't connect to the router in my home.  The Ipad seeks the network but nothing happens.  I went to school and connected to their WiFi network as usual with no problems.  When I returned home I could not connect to my home router.  The Ipad seeks the router number but nothing happens.  I rebooted the Ipad a few times in the school.  The numbers identifying the router, etc. on my Ipad no longer appear there.
TThe Ipad guide says to connect to the WiFi use setup but I can't find the setup program in the Ipad.
I reset the network settings to the factory defaults but this doesn't fix the problem.
What can I do to reconnect to my home router?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Go to Settings, iCloud, and then Storage and Backup.  You will then see a button to backup your iPad.  It may be that you have much stuff (i.e. photos, apps) for it to do a full backup but you will be able to tell what the estimated backup should be and what it will consist of so that you can choose to prune down items.  If you don't want to backup and get rid of the messages you can just turn backup off from this area as well.

I just got it back from the apple store and they reset it (becuase it kept shutting down and not turning back on).
I put in a new password because i needed to start over from factory settings, but now it doesnt let me log in anymore. (I don't know if this is because it doesnt accpet my password, or I forgot my password in less than 5 minutes, or because when i typed in my new password, i typed it in wrong twice)
Command R doesnt work, all i hear is a sound, but nothing happens.

What I don't understand is why it is rejecting a password I am creating.
Perhaps the password you are creating is too short, or has characters that are not allowed, or is not secure enough because it is a word in a dictionary.
FileVault may have standards for what it considers an acceptable password. If the password is part of the 128-bit encryption scheme, it might have to be 16 characters, for example. (Don't know if that is true, but it's a possibility.) Check your documentation for password requirements.

  • Wifi is connected but nothing loads

Off and on when using a Wifi in a hotel or at Starbucks etc., I have a strong network signal but nothing will load...my Touch checks for e mail but nothing happens, the weather application tries to update but nothing happens, internet errors with things like too many pages open so I close pages and nothing happens. Can someone help? Thanks

Open networks often require that you visit a Terms & Conditions page and agree prior to granting full network access. OS 3.x will normally pop up a Safari like page to allow you to do this. If not, you can go to Safari and refresh the page you are on to bring up the logon page for the network.

When you have a compatible Numbers file in icloud (from Numbers on a mac), then when you invoke Numbers on a device, that file immediately shows up in the main window that lists all documents in Numbers.  (Same thing for Pages.)
I haven't used Numbers, only Pages, so I just made a test.  Created a Numbers file on the mac and "move to" iCloud.  On my iPhone, the file didn't show up - hmm.  Then I remembered I had turned off wifi and in settings have 3G data for documents turned off.  When I turned on wifi and went back to Numbers, the file appeared.
I suspect you need to import the Excel file into Numbers and then save it as a Numbers file to iCloud, using "move to".
Using Mountain Lion and latest iOS and Numbers/Pages.

  • TS1559 i do this but nothing happens !!!!!

i have iphone4s and ios 6.1.3 and wifi is greyed icon so i cant turn it on ,,, i restored ios from itones but nothing happens , the problem stell happens
so what can i do ??? i am so angry as wifi is rhe most important thing in ipone

I've had an almost similar issue where my ipad wouldn't find wifi networks.
Generally if your have backed up all your data, restored and setup your device as new and find the wifi still greyed out look to apple for servicing.
They might ask you to restore on another IPSW file (ios software downloaded into itunes) which can sometimes be corrupt but thats highly unlikely.
I hope this helps, best of luck.
