Wifi network password

I am new to all of this and just got a iphone 3g. I am trying to join a wifi network and need to know what I need to do to get the password needed to join. Can anyone help me or tell me a site I can go to to get the info. Thanks

You need to ask the owner of the WiFi network what the password is. If it your own home network the password will be whatever you set it to when you set up security on your router.

Open Mail preferences, click on the Accounts icon in the toolbar then select your mail account, click on the Mailbox Behaviours tab on the right. Set the dropdown menu at the bottom for the Never option.
However, you cannot change the default options set for a newly created account.

  • How to read connected wifi network password programetically in Mac

    Hi,
In my application, i want to read currently connected wifi network password programetically.
Is there any way that i can use apple api's to read wifi network password.
I feel there should be some way to read in Mac also, because windows exposes an api - WlanGetProfile, which returns complete profile of currently connected wifi network along with the password.
So i want to know the similar api in Mac.
I have gone throught he /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist - but i contains only ssid name only, no password is saved in this file.
Can any one let me know about this.
    With regards,
    K.Thejonath.

    Thanks for the info.
However i am able to read wifi password in Mac OSX.
It is possible making use of api's CWKeychainCopyPassword() & CWKeychainCopyEAPUsernameAndPassword() .

  • I forgot my wifi network password for iPad 2. Where do I find it? Can't seem to find it in user guide.

Anyone know where I can find how to lookup my wifi network password in the user guide? I set it up so long ago I forgot it.

I assume that you mean in your WiFi router user manual, because you won't find that information in the iPad manual user guide.
See if this is of some help.

  • Wifi network passwords

My iPad 3 will not remember my home wifi network password. Each time I disconnect it from my wifi, the next time I connect again I have to re-enter the password which is a pain!  My iPhones (both 3G and now 4s) have never done this -  I have never had to re-enter my password into the iphone after the first setup.  Any ideas please gratefully received!!

  • Can't connect to wifi network - password problem?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro C2D 2.16, but I can't get it to connect via airport to my wifi network at home. When I use the network setup assistant, i'm prompted to enter the WPA password, but then i get a message saying "password invalid"? If I try connecting through the Internet Connect window, it says: "there was an error joining the airport network"?
After reading through the forums a bit, I tried changing the WPA password, changing to WEP, and even using the open setting, but my MBP still won't connect to my DSL router (Zoom X6 router). My other Windows laptop connects fine.
This is my first Mac, and I'm a bit clueless regarding networking as well, so any advice is appreciated. BTW, I've got OSX 10.4.8 installed.
    Macbook Pro 2.16 Mhz C2D Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I solved it! Well, not really - I just did a bit more searching on the forums and found someone else with the same problem - solution: Update the firmware's router, and now my MBP can connect properly, with WPA2.

  • TS1398 Wifi network password less than 8 characters

In the past, I was able to connect to my kids schools wifi network with a password that was 6 characters long.  Since updating I am not able to use passwords that are less than 8.  Is there away around this?  I can connect with other non apple devices (school owned).

Try and reset your network settings by going to 'Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings'.
If you still have problems after this you may need to contact the schools IT administration.
    Hope this helps

  • Mini Not Saving WiFi Network Password

    Hello,
My family has purchased a Mac Mini for my father, who is a rather novice computer user. At my parent's house they have a wireless network setup that works perfectly fine. The only problem we are running into is that my father's mac mini will ask him for the wireless network password every time his mini wakes from sleep. This problem does not occur on my Macbook or on my mother's XP computer.
I have looked through the network settings not finding any information on a "save password" button. Anyone have any help on this one?

In airport utility go to the wireless tab, and click remember this password in my keychain. that should help.

  • Piper camera does not accept my network password

    Hi,
I have a 4th generation time capsule and during the setup process of my Piper cam (getpiper.com) I have to transfer my wifi network password. This information is well transmitted to the Piper cam and when it tries to connect to the network I get the message that the password is not the correct one. I've removed the WP2 password security from my network and the setup process of the Piper is successful. I've also tried to modify the network password and I also get the message that the password is not correct. I've contacted the Piper support, and they can't help me and they also told me that the issue may be on my time capsule.
Do you have any idea if there is a specific setup on my time capsule that has to be performed?
    Many thanks for your assistance.
    Regards,
    Gabriel

I have no idea about your particular webcam but the password setup via WPS is problematic on apple routers.. try and do it by manually connecting to the camera.. the following rules are important.
Wireless name.. short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. eg TC24ghz (and set 5ghz to TC5ghz) or use combined TCwifi.
    Set a fixed channel for 2.4ghz.. 11, 6, 1 in that order.
Set WPA2 Personal security. Use 10-20 character pure alphanumeric password.. mix of case and numbers.
If that fails take the security back to WPA+WPA2.. it is less secure but more compatible.
    Good luck.

  • I entered the incorrect password for my home wifi network and now I can't change it. How do I clear out the wrong password so that I can enter a correct one?

I entered the incorrect password for my home wifi network, and now I can't change it. How do I clear out the wrong password so that I can enter a correct one?

Settings > wi-fi  then tap on the little blue arrow next to the network you want to change. You have to tap on the blue arrow and not on the name.
Now at the top tap on "forget this network".
After that, the iPhone will think your home network is a new network and will ask you for the password to connect.
