WiFi - no online apps work in hotspots even with wifi symbol on

Hi. I can connect and use my home wifi with online apps but at hotspots, even with open networks, I get the wifi on symbol but nothing loads in any online app (incl. safari). Any ideas?

1, not all hotspots are really free.
2, Most require you to accept terms and conditions (thus always try safari first).
If safari doesn't bring you to a terms and conditions page when you try to go somewhere then good chance the spot really isn't free for all.
Once you find a spot that does allow you to accept terms (or Safari just works) then apps will work with the WiFi...you just need to always check safari first.

Hey I live in Canada and I bought a 4S directly from apple (mostly to get by the constraints of a contracted phone) and while I would love to see SIRI Localization support for Canada I understand what Beta means... Being an I.T. person
However what many of you don't realize when you chastize someone like this is... Sometimes we are lead down the garden path by mobile phone providers. We don't all buy our phones from the manufacturer and as such are sometimes told what we want to hear to get that sale.
I would expect SIRI likely to be out of beta when the iPhone 5 starts to ship however. Whenever that will be...

[solved] Eve Online not showing up EULA even with corefonts installed

I tried to get it running like it is described on http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p … &iId=25823 . But even with corefonts installed by winetricks the EULA won't show up. Any ideas?
Edit: The EULA actually shows up when waiting over a minute.

Toplink app works without oc4j,fails with security excp. in oc4j[SOLVED]

jdk version: 1.5.0.04 (installed normally with windows installer, no tampering)
JDeveloper version: 10.1.3.2.0 (base installation)
I'm new to JDeveloper and I'm working on SRDemo application from online ADF tutorial under JDeveloper. After 6th chapter I tried to run the app with embedded oc4j. After a login to app i got a toplink exception caused by a security exception. I've tried toplink part of the application with a standalone client it works without this strange problem. Also other toplink tutorials that i have work without oc4j.

This happens when i run toplink project inside oc4j, with a normal java client outside oc4j it works.
The strange thing is the root cause of the problem (the exception complaining about signer) . If the root cause of this problem was really correct system wide, neither security code samples nor the standalone client that i tried would have worked.
Only similiar issue I've found on the net is a problem that occured under eclipse due to a bug in previous versions of jce, but it seems this is no longer an issue.
No one other than me seems to have this problem, so this implies a problem with my system, but the root exception about signer information (which is not correct) says there is something wrong with toplink/oc4j runtime or there is some subtle bug.
I am trying to download another jdk1.5 version to see if this is a subtle bug of java-1.5.0.04 and oc4j, but either sun servers or my isp has a problem because the download is in the order of bytes and fails all the time.
I think there can be a problem with the java2.policy file under oc4j config dir, but i don't know if it is really used and necessary or not.
I don't know much about oc4j config so i need some help to proceed. thanks in advance

Sorry, I tried something that I should have tried before posting, that gives another information about my problem.
when i use standalone oc4j using start_oc4j.bat under jdev/bin, I also get the same security exception stack (nothing deployed to server) during server initialization. the default java command in start_oc4j.bat is this:

What the crap? I can't download any apps from the Playstore. I've got 9 app updates, and I've tried to download a few new ones, and none of them even started to download. Anyone know what the deal is?

Oh wow. That's pretty strange, clboatright. It does help us to confirm it's not something on our network stopping the download since you were also getting the error on WiFi. We haven't given up. Please try:
Settings>Data Usage> make sure Mobile Data is on and limit mobile data usage is off. Also press Menu and make sure Restrict Background Data is off.

Settings>Application Manager>All>tap Play Store then clear cache (not data) and force stop
**then return to home screen**
Settings>Application Manager>All>tap Google Service Framework and clear data (not cache) and force stop

Sounds like a major hardware problem.
If no change after restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, there is a hardware problem.

App.open(file) fails even with absolute path.

I am new to scripting for AE so please go easy on me. I have these two lines in a script which is a plain text file with .jsx as the extension.
var project = new File("C:\path\to\my\project.aep");
app.open(project);
So then, I go to my command line and enter this. I should note that I added the directory containing afterfx.exe to my environment path (I am running Windows 7).
afterfx -s myscript.jsx
When i hit enter, AE launches, but I get an error that says:
Unable to execute script at line 1. After Effects error: Unable to call "open" because of parameter 1. Path is not valid. Path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS5\Suppor Files\pathtomyproject.aep
What?! Why does it think my aep file is within the Support Files directory?! Is it because of the path environment variable I setup? Any tips to force AE to find the file I specified in the new File() method?

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 4.

Apps will not update even with correct password

My Apps icon on my iPhone 4 currently says I have 37 updates available. I am unable to update them individually OR all at once. After pressing the UPDATE button it asks for my account password like normal. I type it in correctly and it shifts back to the app icons, showing all of the apps with the update progess bar at the bottom of them. Then a popup appears saying:
Sign in the the iTunes Store.
If you have an Apple ID sign in with it here, AOL members can sign in using their AOL username and password.
Cancel Buy
If I cancel nothing happens. If I hit BUY and type in my password again it just gives me the same error popup again.
However, if I try to download a new app from the app store using the same password it lets me. The new app downloads and installs just fine.
What is with this error message and what do I need to do to fix this? FYI I have no AOL account and have never had one in the past.

Finally got this solved by taking it to the genius bar at the Apple store. They too had never seen anything like it before, but managed to solve the problem by having me turn on iCloud backup there at the store. The phone backed up my settings and information to iCloud and then the guy took it to the back room and did a restore on it using that same iCloud backup data. Thus it saved my settings and app info but is downloading new, updated versions of all of the apps as it restores itself from iCloud. It seeme to have fixed the AOL login popup problem.
He seemed to think that somehow my backups here on my home PC are getting corrupted somehow but none of the techs had any idea what was going on.

1st generation touch, downloaded version 3.1.3, apps worked for an evening, now you tap them the screen blinks but the won't open. Are apps still possible on this old of touch? If so, how do I fix it?

Contact Rhapsody to see if they have or plan to release an update for the app. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.
