Wifi on one iPad disappeared overnight

1. Wifi in problem iPad 2 disappeared overnight. Other Macs, iPads and iPhones have wifi, as usual.
2. I have tried resets, forgets, etc.
3. I even restored the sw on the problem iPad, to no avail.
4. I have two wifi networks.
5. iPad finds both networks; signal strength good.
6. Both networks recognize the WPA passwords.
7. Attempt to connect circles forever, with no check mark. No wifi emblem in the upper left corner, either.
Any insights? HW failure?
Rokkap

If the iPad does work using another WiFi network, that would still indicate some kind of issue with your home nether, but that doesn't seen real likely at this point.
You did reset all Settings? Not just network settings.

  • How do you transfer Apple IDs from one ipad to another iPad?  I got the new ipad and gave my ipad 2 to my wife who had the first version and now I can't get my Apple ID off so she can use her Apple ID.

how do you transfer Apple IDs from one ipad to another iPad?  I got the new ipad and gave my ipad 2 to my wife who had the first version and now I can't get my Apple ID off so she can use her Apple ID.

You don't transfer Apple ID's from one device to another one. You sign out in the settings, )the App Store and iTunes if necessary) and then sign in with the other ID.
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID>Sign out. Them sign in with the other ID. You can sign out of the app store and iTunes as well by going to the featured Atab in the App Store and the music tab in iTunes, swipe to the bottom and access the Apple ID in there.
You should have erased the iOad before you gave it to her in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That way she could set up the iPad as new with her own Apple ID.
Be aware of the fact that if you use each others ID's in order to download past purchased content to your own iPads, you will lock yourself out of your own ID as you will have associated your iPad with the other person's Apple ID.
In other words, if you sign into your wife's ID on your iPad so that you can download an app or an album so that you don't have to pay for it again, you will lock yourself out of your Apple ID for 90 days.

  • My wife and I have each one iPhone 4 each but only one iPad we share. ICloud does not seem to work for us?

My wife and I have each and iPhone 4 and one iPad. We would like to have both our iCloud accounts on the iPad. For families we do not generally buy doubles of everything (apps, songs, movies tv shows, etc)  and that includes iPads. But right now we are sharing and iCloud account and that is causing a lot of problems with calendars, contacts, reminders, imessanger, etc. it would be cool ( and more like a computer ) if we could have our separate accounts and our iPad 2 could hold both our iCloud accounts simultaneously. So it holds our personal information without affecting each other phones. I think this would solve family problems with one iTunes ID, many iCloud IDs, many iPhones but one iPad, laptop, computer, apple tv. Thank you.

  • I have an Ipad 2. My wife has an Ipad mini. When we connect to Itunes it installs all the apps from one Ipad on to the other. I unchecked the box to automatically update apps, but Itunes still does so. How do I prevent Itunes from intalling apps?

I have an Ipad 2. My wife has an Ipad mini. When we plug in to Itunes (at different times) it synchs the apps from one Ipad on to the other. We don't want this. I have uncheked the box for Automatically synch apps, but it still does this.
How do I get Itues to see each Ipad as a separate item, and not try to keep them "equal" as far as apps installed?

Remove the apps from iTunes with your device connected. You can basically deselect the apps that you don't want on each device. We have three IOS devices on one AppleID and they don't all have the same apps.

Tell your wife to get her own Apple ID. If you do not want continuity/handoff to work with calls, on both devicesgo to Settings==>>FaceTime==>> Turn OFF iPhone cellular calls.

  • I gave my wife my old iPad and it has the same name as my new one. How do I change the name of the old one to allow to have different content on our iPads?

I gave my wife my old iPad when I bought an iPad 2. Both devices have the same name. Will this affect backups of our different contents?

It's easy to rename each unit.  When you connect your iPad and it syncs, the unit will appear on the left of the iTUnes screens just click on the unit there and you can rename it.  You should do this immediately so you can see which unit was backed up by it's name. You can sync as many decices as you want in one iTunes library and you can even share Apps as long as you're going to sync both from teh same iTunes account.  My household has 2 iPad 2s and we share our apps, and we also share downloaded books, magazines, music, etc.......

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

  • I am thinking of purchasing and iPad 2. Me and my wife both have iPhones and separate iTunes accounts. Is it possible to access both of our iTunes accounts on one iPad?

I have been toying with the idea of purchasing an iPad 2. Me and my wife both have separate  iTunes accounts as we both have iPhones. I just wondered if it's possible to log into more than one iTunes account on one iPad, or if not would we have to set up a joint iTunes account?

What you could do is have one of you with the main iTunes account and use home sharing to get access to your wife's iTunes music, etc.  my wife and I do this, but we each have our own iPads.

  • Hi, am I right in thinking that the only iPads with a built in GPS are the cellular models not the wifi only ones?

hi, am I right in thinking that the only iPads with a built in GPS are the cellular models not the wifi only ones?
I am looking to purchase an iPad2 and need a built in GPS

    Mini-education:
GPS signals are separate from and completely unrelated to both the Internet and the cellular telephone network.  GPS signals come directly from the GPS satellites.  They provide signals that allow GPS receivers to calculate latitude and longitude information.  Navigation software then takes that latitude/longitude info and converts it to land mass, roads, bridges, highways, buildings, etc.
Most navigation software stores the maps right in the iPad/iPod/iPhone but a disadvantage is that the maps must be periodically updated (perhaps once every two years).  The Internet is not required to use the system but it is required to update the maps.
Some navigation software gets the maps from the Internet and requires an Internet connection to function but an advantage is that the maps are always up-to-date.
The WiFi+3G/4G iPad and the iPhone both have a GPS receiver.  The WiFi-only iPad and the iPod do not and these devices require an accessory.

  • HT1296 I bought my wife a new Ipad 3. How do I transfer her data from the old Ipad 1 to the new one?

I bought my wife a new Ipad 3. How do I transfer her data from the old Ipad 1 to the new one?

Sync the old one, and get a full back up stored.  Make sure you transfer your purchases to I tunes, and make sure you upload any photos taken on the pad, or imported thru the cck.
Then plug the new pad in, and set it up from the backup of the old one.  In theory, all the stuff that was in the back up will migrate to the new pad.  If apps, music or books get lost, you can redownload them for free, using the same appLe id.
If you are selling or gifting the old one,   When you are done and happy with the new set up,  go to setting, general, reset, reset all content and data.  This will place the pad in factory new condition.   Lastly, if it is a 3 g pad, especially if it a Verizon pad, make sure to cancel the plan

  • Can i transfer everything from one ipad to another so both have exactly the same things

Can i transfer everything from one ipad to another so both have exactly the same things?

Yes. Copy your apps and other iTunes purchases/downloads to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you have iTunes 11 on your computer), then backup up the first iPad and restore that backup onto the second iPad.
    Backups and restores : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079
Things that aren't included in a backup include the contents of the Music and Videos apps (but they should be on your computer's iTunes) and photos that were synced from a computer. Also you will need to enter your passwords (email, wifi, website) on the second iPad - they won't be restored onto a different device, only back onto the device that the backup came from.

  • 2 iPads, but can only connect one iPad at a time to my home network.  Is this a known issue with Mac/iPads in general?

At home I have a HP PC, netbook and Sony laptop with no connection issues.  Last year I bought an iPad 1 for my wife.  This year I bought an iPad 2 for myself.  However, only one iPad can connect to the wifi home network at a time. If I am using the iPad2 then the iPad1 fails to connect to the internet.  if the iPad1 is being used then the iPad2 cannot connect.   I tried resetting iPad network settings for both, reset router, and updated both iPads to latest software/firmware yesterday.  Right now the only iPad that shows any connection is the iPad1.  The iPad2 does not see the home network or any other outside network.  Any suggestions or ideas on how to resolve this?  It is odd the network issues only affect the iPad's.

    @dananova,
It sounds like you need to either increase the number of dynamic IP addresses your router will hand out or change some of your devices to static IP addresses.
Check the router manual on how to change the dynamic IP range of your router.  If you don't have a manual, you can go to Belkin's website and download it.
To change the IP address of your iPads to static addresses, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the ">" next to the name of your wireless network.  DHCP should be highlighted.  Write down the all the settings on the screen. Next tap the Static button.  Enter the exact same information that you copied from the DHCP screen with the exception of the last 3 digits of the IP address.  Enter a new 3 digit number in this spot.  Generally the original IP address will end with a low number such as 009, so pick a number that is not that low but less than 255.  I would suggest a range of 240 to 250, unless the original IP range falls near this range.  Also make sure you use a different 3 digits for each device you set to use a static IP address.

  • TS3988 My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

If you can see the iCloud contacts in Outlook, you can copy them back to your PC by selecting all the contacts (click one, then press Control-A), then drag and drop the selected contacts to Contacts under My Contacts on the left sidebar of Outlook.
If you want to copy your calendar back to Outlook, select your iCloud calendar on the left sidebar of Outlook, switch to the list view (select View from the ribbon, then click Change View>List), select your events (click on a single event, then press Control-A), then control drag and drop them to Calendar under My Calendars on the left sidebar.
Then you can sign out of iCloud on the iCloud control panel and your local copies will still be there.  If you want to add your iCloud email account back to iCloud, you can do this with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.
