Wifi on VPN

I am at a condo that uses a wifi manager and every unit has their own name and password. My first couple days it worked fine I would open safari and it would have a log in page pop up and I would enter the username and password and be fine. For some reason I can't get it to pop up anymore and I can't get on the Internet. When I'm on my iPad it works fine and my iPhone works fine so I have to assume its not the network it's my Mac book. Any suggestions?

  • My iPhone's Personal Hotspot Doesnt Give WiFi over VPN anymore.

Basically when i connect my Mac to my iphone it bypasses the VPN on my iPhone which is on. I use to open my VPN and Personal Hotspot on my iPhone before the iOS 5 update and give wifi internet over VPN to my MAC or other iphone ( i carry two iphones 1st iphone 2nd iPhone 4S ).
I am sure it's a firmware thing because it use to work perfectly.

  • WiFi using VPN Client

I am a college student and our campus has free WiFi but you have to use a program called vpnclient.app in order to access the WiFi. I was wondering if anyone knows if I would be able to use this program on the Touch in order to use the internet around campus.

It is possible if you hack it.

  • "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store" when using WiFi and Cisco VPN

    hi
I'm on iPhone software 2.0 and have a connection to the internet via WiFi and VPN (using the integrated Cisco client). Everything works fine (Safari, Mail, mobileme push of contacts and calendars) but the iTunes Store and the App Store won't. While the App Store keeps spinning the iTunes Store says "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store". Has anyone else experienced a similar phenomenon?
    thanks
    Message was edited by: samaki

We're having the same issue. App Store and iTunes do not work when all traffic is tunneled over VPN. Yet, other applications like Safari, New York Times reader, Telnet, etc... work perfectly fine over VPN. If we have the iPhone switch over to using split tunneling VPN mode, then the App Store and iTunes work since they do not appear to be sending traffic over the VPN tunnel. I can say for certain that no outgoing traffic is being blocked on the VPN servers since I administer those servers. I also did a packet capture on the iPhone wireless session and it appears that the App Store sends traffic over the regular HTTP port. So it really doesn't make any sense from a VPN perspective why Safari would work but not the App Store or iTunes when you're tunneling all traffic over VPN. Our iPhones are using the latest firmware (5F136). If anyone has any update, please do share.

  • Cant use VPN on LAN but can on WIFI

    Hi
I am curently running 10.8.2 and when connected to the metwork using a LAN cable I cant use any of my VPN connections...
But when I disconnect form the LAN and turn on WIFI all VPN's work???
    Any ideas?

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the Network preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Select the Ethernet connection, then click the Advanced button and select the Hardware tab. Select
    Configure: Manually
    and
    MTU: Custom
Enter an MTU value of 1280.
Click OK and then Apply. Test.
You must apply the change before it takes effect.
If the issue is resolved, experiment with higher MTU values until you find the highest one that works. The higher the MTU, the better the network interface will perform.
If changing the MTU has no effect, restore the Configure setting to Automatically.

  • NAC WiFi + NAC Internal VPN

    Has anyone tested this scenario?
The idea is the following: Users connect via Wireless connection to the network and are certified by the NAC appliance, after certification they are switched out of Band. This will grant them access to basic network resources. To get access to more secure resources the users will have to establish a VPN connection over the already established Wireless connection. After succesfull VPN connection they will need to go through a second NAC appliance connected in-band to the VPN endpoint for extra security checks.
My question is, how will these users be treated by the NAC appliance since their user credentials are already logged by the NAC manager because of the succesfull Wifi Login.
I have looked into the Max users sessions option, but this only works per role. And since Wifi and VPN users will have different roles I suspect that that option will not work for my purpose

    Hi,
No differerence, except that using a third party cert simplifies the process in that majority of the clients already trust the root certs of the well known CAs. Other than that if you have a way of distributing your internal CA's root cert to your clients, it should work just fine with internal certs.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 SSL VPN

    Hi Everyone,
In my study home lab, I wanted to configure a cisco ASA 5505 ( Base license) to allow SSL VPN. I follow carefully the configuration procedure as instructed on a short videos I downloaded on youtube.
I configured my outside e0/0 with a valid static IP address, unfortunately the vpn connection is timeout on a remote ( different) internet connection. But if  I connect to my own internet line using a WIFI the VPN ( AnyConnect SSL VPN client ) connection is established.
I need help to solve this mystery. Please find attached the ASA config: #show run
I hope my explaination does make sense, if not accept my apology I am just new in cisco technology.
    Best regards,
    BEN

If you can connect with your own internet line, then most probably it's not an issue with the ASA configuration.
I would check how you are routing the ASA to the internet, and if there is any ACL that might be blocking inbound access to the ASA on the device in front of the ASA.

  • VPN Issue when tethering using Bluetooth

    Hi all.
I tether my laptop to my phone using USB, WiFi or Bluetooth as my primary internet connection (as I work remotely).
My preference is to connect using Bluetooth (persistent connection, low power), however if I try to connect my laptop to the Cisco VPN, it doesn't work: the VPN connection seems to be made correctly, but I can't see the my work mail server, intranet or http proxy.
If I connect using USB or WiFi, the VPN connects and everything work fine.
I don't like USB because every time I need to take the phone from the dock to take a call or walk away from my computer, I lose internet and VPN and have to reconnect.
I don't like WiFi because it uses too much battery.
Can anyone suggest what could be causing this issue?
    Thanks!
    Ray

    Hi,
Your best bet is to run wireshark on your workstation to see how the packets are being sent to the iphone. That will tell alot right off the bat. Also what are you running for your headend, is it an ios router or an ASA?
    thanks,

  • VPN Connection Problems

I have an apple TC at home, running firmware version 7.6.1, and I can't connect to a VPN server at my work through the TC wifi.  If I connect my macbook directly to my modem with an ethernet cable, I can connect without difficulties.  When attempting to connect through the TC wifi, the VPN status indicator says that I connect and authenticate, but when I attemp to access a secured, internal website or computer at my work nothing connects.
Any suggestions?  Happy to provide more info on my setup and devices if you need it.
    Thanks for your help.

    mwjaeger wrote:
I turned off 'Back to my Mac' after reading an article about it using ports soemtimes used for VPN connection but it didn't seem to help.
Turning off BTMM does not change the port allocation in the TC.. that is where the problem is.
Can you be more specific about the ports required for my VPN?  The setup in my network connections on the MPBP points to my work website and everything else (except for my my password) seems to be automatic without mentioning any specific port numbers.  If I did find the required port number from the tech support guys at work, how exactly do I set them on my MBP.
This setup again has nothing to do with the MBP.. it is the router where the issue is.. as clearly your initial experiment connecting directly to the modem shows.. it is open ports on the router that you need to do.
I cannot tell you which ports without knowing what vpn client you are using. That is why my previous post began.. what vpn and what client??? Perhaps I should put it in bold.. WHAT VPN CLIENT DO YOU USE?
Is it a built in client in Mac OS.. or is it a Cisco client or some other brand software client.. tell me that.. and I can probably figure out the ports.
The vpn client should also have a log.. that will likely have useful information about why the VPN cannot connect.
Also, I have an old linksys router.  How do I connect this into my setup if I put the TC into bridge mode?
Connect the Linksys up to the modem in router mode.. bridge the TC. The Linksys will now be the main router and handle the connection. The TC becomes a dumb WAP and switch plus network hard disk.
Will all my devices setup to run from and back-up to the TC still work?
Yes, the network will still function as it did. You do not need to change the TC wireless or other settings.. just bridge instead of main router.
Look in the Linksys for VPN pass-through. Some have it set automatically.. others require it checked.
If you run into issues.. I need the exact model number and firmware revision to work out how to fix vpn.

  • Network Location Awareness disconnecting Wi-Fi when VPN connected

    Hi All,
We have VPN software which creates a virtual NIC. When it connects using the Wi-Fi bearer interface we often see that the Wi-Fi connection drops after exactly 60 seconds from the VPN establishing an IP address. We only get this problem when the VPN is used
on Windows 8. Windows 7 never has this issue. We have looked at NCSI, allowing packets through the Wi-Fi interface, and network profiles nut no success.
We found that when the "Network Location Awareness" service is disabled (which also stops the dependent services Network List, HomeGroup and Network Connected Devices Auto-Setup) then the Wi-Fi connection is reliable. This leads us to think that
NLA takes control of the Wireless interface to drop the connection. We cannot find any information on NLA changes in Windows 8, as we don't get the issue on Windows 7.
    Any insight appreciated.
    Alan

    Hi,
Have you tried to establish a VPN connection with windows integrated VPN client? If it works, it means that the software VPN client affects the WIFI connection.
If it still doesn’t work, you may check this,
Try to connect to other Aps.
    Install latest WIFI NIC driver.
It could be the security software issue. Try clean boot for a test.
Besides, is there any error or warning related to WIFI or VPN in the event viewer? It is helpful for further troubleshooting.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why is it slow on VPN on my iPhone5?

I got a VPN service which is normally used on my iPad and PC. It provides 10M download speed. Tested on Speedtest.net with VPN it shows around 8Mbps on my iPad and around 11Mbps on my PC but only 0.5Mbps on my iPhone5. Without VPN, all 3 devices are at around 12MBps, which is the speed provided by ISP. Why? Is it a bug on ios6.0.2. HELP ME PLZ! orz  (*all my devices are in the same wifi network)

This happens, exactly as described, to me too. VPN over 3/4G/LTE is fine.
VPN over WiFi gets around 0.3Mbps
    WiFi alone is 6Mbps
    VPN over 4G is 8Mbps
In addition, if I connect to a WiFi that has a built in VPN client (i.e. with the VPN client handled in the router) the iPhone 5 goes down to 0.3Mbps again. Other connections (Win 7, Mac OSX 10.8, iPhone 4) all get 5Mbps.
Didn't earlier versions of iPhone have separate processor, etc. for comms and the new iPhone just has the single chip? I wonder if the VPN overhead isn't being handled as efficiently now as before? Maybe just a simple prority fix?
Same results for PPTP, L2TP, IPSec, OpenVPN. Looks like something wrong in the iPhone 5 (or iOS 6 and 6.1). If so, come on Apple own up so we can stop running in circles and just sit and wait for the fix (or the iPhone 6).
If anyone has iPhone 5 and gets good speeds over WiFi and VPN, please post (and include the type of  VPN you use etc.) Then I can maybe go in a swap mine (again) so that I get one that works.

  • Deploy Symantec certificate profiles to mobile devices using Microsoft Intune to manage company resources like WiFi

We are planning to deploy Symantec certificate profiles to Mobile devices to manage company resource like WiFi. I've seen documentation on Technet and the post here http://ronnydejong.com/2014/12/15/part-1-deploy-certificates-to-mobile-devices-using-microsoft-intune-ndes-overview/ that
we need to install Intune NDES connector which needs to be installed on NDES server. These docs are true when we are using Microsoft PKI.
Here, we're planning to use Symantec cloud PKI to deploy the certificates to mobile devices. So, I would like to know which are the required on-premises components ? NPS, NDES  or something else? Any documentation URL would be helpful ;) We're in planning
face hence the question in the forum.

Thank you Jason for the reply !
    Sorry for stupid questions !
Does that mean, NDES is needed only for initial enrollment process of a mobile device? We don't need it deploying Symantec certificate profiles to manage company resources like WiFi VPN etc... Or I'm totally lost here?
My understanding is : Mobile devices will get enrolled to Intune and that device will become a managed device. Now, the mobile device needs to get a connectivity to company resources like VPN or WiFi and for the we may need to deploy certificate profiles.
Isn't it ? So, you were saying for this process we don't need to have NDES. (or I'm wrong here as well).
If so, we'll be deploying a public certificate to all the devices via certificate profile deployment and the devices need to get connected with issuing authority to get a device specific private key before connecting to WiFi or VPN?

  • Ipad can't connect to company vpn using correct settings

  • CUCM Jabber iPhone 9.1.1 VPN unexpected Disconnect

    Hi like-minded :-),
We Setup a CUCM 9.1.1. with iPhones Jabber 9.1 as TCT Device and the iPhone Device Register at CUCM via Wifi and VPN. All works fine, also Dial via Office, Dial via Internet and Dial Automaticly.
Also, when we move from Wifi to VPN during an active Call, the call are not drop. Also good!
Also when have only VPN active and VPN goes down for a short time, when VPN comes back, the call is still there.
Means in all cases the active call is in hold, when Wifi or VPn goes down for a short time.
But one thing I had expected, but it will not work.
When the iPhone is in a active call via VPN or Wifi and both goes unexpected down, that CUCM hold the Call and Call me back at my iPhones via mobile network.
This will not work. The call is in hold for a period of time and then goes in disconnect.
Knows someone is this normal, or something is configure wrong?
    THX in advance

    Hi,
Have you checked that the Jabber Voice application has access to the iPhone microphone, when first running the app users may get a prompt to give the app access to it. This could explain why normal calls work.
You can check this by accessing General Settings > Privacy > Microphone
