WIFI only works by router. iPhone 4

A couple weeks ago my iPhone stopped connecting to the wifi unless I was standing right next to the router. My brother has an iPhone 4 as well bought at the same time(several years ago. Phones passed down to us) and he does not have any problems at all with it. It doesn't matter where I go. Even public places like Starbucks doesn't work. I've tried reseting network settings and restoring my phone and it didn't work. What can I do?

It seems she either removed the case altogether or got a different one that doesn't block the signal.

So, I am currently living in Spain. I went on vacation for 3 weeks back to the USA for the holidays. When I came back to Spain, my Iphone 5 will no longer connects to my home wifi unless I am in the same room as the router. This was never a problem before I left. I have tried everything to fix this problem; restart my iphone, restart my router, reset my network settings, reset the acutal iphone back to factory settings. Nothing has worked. I'm not very tech savy so very simple answers please. Again, I live in Spain so there isnt much I can do as far as taking it to an apple store. PLEASE HELP! This is killing my data! Go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores and set to "use cellular data" to ON. Be aware this will use your mobile data allotment when streaming music.

I am now beside router - no problem, but go 20 metres and WiFi becomes unstable. Only way to get either to work is disable WiFi either as a Hot Spot or turn it off and use the 3G connection. This worked with 4.3 & 4.3.2 what has gone wrong? I raised it at the Apple Store in Belfast as a problem but was told that there was no problem with Apple but I must have a faulty router - yeah - that's a lot of faulty routers, my home, my office, my holiday home, Starbucks, my friends house, my son's house. I've tried all the 'fixes'. I think it is a plan to force us to buy Apple Routers

Two ways out, I added two more Belkin Access Points in my house in Spain so that I'm not more than 10Mtrs away, (Reinforced Concrete & solar glass 2010)
I bought 3 Apple Airports, 1 x Extreme and 2 x Express (1 as a hard wired AP, 1 as an extender) for my other house (Brick construction 1930's)
Everthing now works perfectly, as I said 'an apple plot', so either blast them with signal or visit your nearest apple store.
Early beta iOS5 (iPad) is also much inproved in Beta 3, I have not had any problem with 'Lion'

2. Did you build a USB with Windows 7 ISO and Bootcamp drivers?
3. You should use a USB2.0 disk, not a USB3.0 disk (flash drive).

Macbook Pro's Wifi only works at my house, it has been working perfectly fine everywhere for the past 2 years

I have a 13-in Macbook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.
My wifi only works at my house. it has been fine for the past 2 years everywhere else, but now the wifi says its connected, but the internet doesnt work.
I have already tried a number of things to resolve this as it has been happening the past 2 months by looking on here and some have worked, but I can't seem to get anything to work anymore.
When I run the Network Diagnostics the Network Status is the following:
wifi- Green
Wifi-settings- Green
Network Settings- Red
ISP-Red
Internet Server-Red
I am home right now so the internet is working fine, but seeing as I use my macbook for school and work, I need it to work everywhere.

when you ran the Network Diagnostics above, was that run from home, or was it run away from home?
If it was away from home, do you get all green lights when you run it at home, or does it work properly despite not all of the lights being green?
Does your school or work allow anyone’s computer to connect wirelessly, or do these sites require whitelisting of some sort to permit a computer to use their respective networks?

IPhoto 08 only works SOMETIMES with iPhone....

iPhoto 08 only works SOMETIMES with iPhone. I have been able to upload my photos from my iPhone SOMETIMES... Other times iPhoto doesn't recognize that the iPhone is plugged in. The IMPORT photos just NEVER showes up. How can I get it to CONSISTANTLY recognize my iPhone... what is wrong? Never had this problem with 06.

ok, here's what i did to get iphoto to recognize my iphone.
change the "connecting camera opens:" dialogue box to "image capture" (in the iphoto preferences "general" tab @ the bottom of the window)
close the preferences & quit iphoto.
quit itunes
open iphoto & change the "connecting camera opens:" dialogue box back to "iphoto"
close the preferences & quit iphoto
plug in iphone.
both itunes & iphoto will launch simultaneously.

Why does Do Not Disturb only work when the iPhone is locked?

I've been wanting for awhile now a way to easily turn off all notification alerts and incoming calls while keeping cellular data and wi-fi on so I can use my phone in peace without gimping my wireless connections, and even though iOS 6 as a whole seems awesome to me, I'm disappointed Do Not Disturb only works when the iPhone is locked.

Was just wondering if other people felt the same way I do and start a discussion about it so maybe that with more people talking about it, Apple would pay attention to it more. People complaining about how calls and alerts were lighting up their screen at night seems to be some inspiration to why Apple added Do Not Disturb in the first place. Didn't know I was doing anything in violation of the Terms of Use so sorry about that.

That should work on the iPad. Basic app troubleshooting from Apples support site. Items 1, 2 & 3 should not apply to your situation, but I posted the link at the end if you want to read them.
4. Restart the application
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app:
Press the Home button to return to the Home screen.
Double-tap the Home button to display recent apps.
Tap and hold the affected app until the red minus appears.
Tap the red minus to quit the app.
Press the Home button, then restart the app.
5. Restart your device
Hold the Sleep/Wake button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.
6. Reinstall the affected application
Remove the application from your device and reinstall it.
Touch and hold any application icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the application you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the application and all of its data from your device.
Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store.
Search for the application and then download it again.
Note: If it is a paid app, ensure you are using the iTunes account you purchased the app with originally. If it is not, you will be charged for the app again. For more information regarding downloading previously purchased items, see this article.
7. If the issue is still unresolved
If you continue to experience the issue, contact the developer of the application for further assistance.

First reboot your router. If the problem doesn't resolve update the firmware in your router to the latest version. And if that fails go to Settings/General/Reset - Reset Network Settings.
If the problem occurs on all networks, and not just your home network, exchange the phone at an Apple store. If it is just your home network it most likely is a router problem or interference from other networks or other devices such as cordless phones.

If those things don't work I'd take it into the apple store and have them look at it. I've not heard of wifi antennas 'breaking' but that sure sounds like it.
I had my laptop repaired once and then the wifi stopped connecting unless I was in the same room as the router. Turns out the tech hadn't reattached the antennas. Thing is, I doubt you were in the 'guts' of your iPad so they had to have gone non-functional on their own. And beyond a normal person's ability to fix.

IPad Mini wifi only works properly for 30 seconds!

If the WiFi on your iPad works well on other networks the problem lies in your WiFi router or in its configuration. If there is no router firmware which solves this problem I'd simply replace the router.
Strange that among all the detail in your post you didn't mention the make, model or version of the WiFi router that you are using.

MacBook Pro only works near router...sometimes

I am wasting a good portion of my 39th year on this Earth trying to get my MacBook Pro to connect to my wireless. Comcast has come three times, and swears they aren't the problem.
For the last month and a half, my macbook pro only works near the Comcast router. During the prior two years, it worked throughout the house. I have a PC laptop that was working elsewhere in the house, but also stopped getting wi fi recently.
Now the PC works, but I still can't get Wifi on my macbook pro. My Kindle also can't connect to the wifi.
At one point, a technician suggested getting a netgear router, so I did...and that worked for a week, but now I'm back to the same problem.
The laptop gets wifi fine in cafes.
Help!

since i updated my phone to iOS 6.1.3 the wifi wont work and has turned a light grey colour ib the settings menu, this wont allow me to turn wifi on or off or do anything with it, is there anything i can do to fix this as its very irritating??? I have tried to reset my network settings several times but it has'nt done anything :/ i would much appreciate any help thank you

I had this same issue. I spent time on live chat with Apple Support last night. I went through all of their trouble shooting. This included: making sure airplane mode is off; resetting the network settings; and finally doing a factory reset (2 times) and restoring my phone. None of these worked. The support tech told me that the "WiFi radio is not functioning" which is a hardware problem. Only thing you can do is have the phone serviced or replaced. Hopefully you are still under warranty so it doesn't cost you anything. But if not, sounds like it will be about $199 to replace, according to other posts.
