"Wifi password incorrect".  Authenticating......PROBLEMS!!!  Our Razr M is crazy!

We have a Razr Maxx.  A few months back the wifi would not connect only at our home.  Outside, it would connect to other available wifi resources.  We contacted Verizon.  They say contact our ISP..We have a DSL line with HawaiianTel.  They walk us through the whole modem/wireless router setup/reset.  My Droid Ultra has no problem connecting to the wifi at home.  The Razr Maxx still wont connect saying that the password entered is incorrect.  HawaiianTel sends us a new modem/wireless router.  We set it up.  Laptops in home connect with no problem.  My Droid Ultra connects...no problem.  Razr Maxx??  Big problem.  It "sees" the connection but says password incorrect.  We contact Verizon.  They are clueless.  They put us in contact with Motorola Tech Support.  They do an over the air connect to the phone.  They, too, go through all procedure and cannot connect.  They say to mail them the phone.  A few weeks later the phone returns.  A note says hardware change.  I, personally, take out the internet connection already existing at home and redo all.  Everything connects.  Raxr Maxx...no connect.  I keep trying for an hour.  All of a sudden....success!!  Wifi available and connected.  Everything good.  Last night, 1-22-14, the Raxr Maxx shows no wifi.  We go through everything.  All laptops enjoying great connection.  Droid Ultra has great connection.  Razr Maxx goes on a trip away from home today.  It connects to other wifi.  What the heck is going on?  Can anyone answer this?  We are using Windows 7 Home Premium.  The wireless Network Adapter is a RealTek RTL8187SE Wireless LAN Adapter.  The Modem is a Motorola modem with built in wireless.  It is a DSL connection. We are using WPA2/Personal  for secure access.  All other devices in the home can connect.  The Raze Maxx sees the wifi connection and others,,,but will not connect.  I challenge all you supertechs with this one.

Someone on a different wiFi thread suggest this:
"I had the same issue. After receiving a replacement phone that did the EXACT SAME thing, I dug a little deeper. I had already scoured the discussion boards and not seen the fix. Then on a whim, we tried going to Motorola website. Come to find out, Motorola KNOWS of the issue. It is a compatability issue with Realtek wireless adapters on VISTA, Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 The fix is simple. Google realtek adapter and download the latest driver for your operating system. Windows 8 is from 1-15-14 I believe. Then you might have to change the settings on your adapter in the connections center of your computer to b/g not b/g/n. reboot and try. So far so good on mine."
I have no idea if this will help, just passing on what i read.

  • Error 3924 wifi password incorrect

I recently received an Apple TV (ver 3) as a present, and am struggling to get it to connect with my WiFi network. I receive the error "The WiFi password you have entered is not correct. Try again." (error 3924).
I have a dlink router model DIR-615, which works fine with my iMac (hard wire connection), and three other electronic devices, all wirelessly connected. My wireless network is set up using WPA2 security.
The Apple TV sees the network OK, and will connect without any problem when there is no security enabled- I was even able to update the Apple TV's software over the network. But when I re-enable security, I'm back to the same error.
There are three "passwords" associated with the router:
    - the WPA2 key, a long series of numbers and letters a through f (not really a password, but part of the security)
    - an administrator password, used to gain access to the router's settings
    - a user password
I thought that the Apple TV was looking for the user password, but when I enter that password I get the error message. I tried entering the other two 'passwords' to no avail (same error). All the passwords contain only letters (caps and small) and numbers.
I am working on getting wired access to the television area, but it is a long-term project. In the meantime I have no interest in running an unsecured network. According to what I have read Apple TV connects fine with WPA2 secured networks. I have restarted both the Apple TV and router, no effect.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

I figured it out. The router I have puts what the Apple TV calls a 'password' in a wireless management setting called "Pre-Shared Key", the WPA2 key mentioned in my initial post. This is where I entered the password, and after entering the same password in the Apple TV, the connection was fine. Got tripped up with the terminology!
    Cheers!

  • Says my Wifi password incorrect all  of a sudden

I've been using my ipad (newest version) for 6 months with no Problem- all of a wifi says password is incorrect..my network is recognized and every other wireless thing we have in the house works fine- I've tried rebooting router, resetting all things in the ipad, rebooting the ipad, turning up brightness- I don't know what else to do short of a trip to apple (ugh).. I tried to pair it with my iPhone hotspot ( which used to work ) but I can't do that either- says pairing unsuccessful.. I have a verizon Fios router
    Thanks

Something you can try is resetting it all Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings. Or go to Settings > Store & sign out & log back in. Another thing you can do is restore your ipod. This has happened to me but the only thing i did was that i created a new account but try doing the things above i just told you. :)

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • Ipad 2 wifi password incorrect

hi my ipad 2 sees wifi ok but will not connect as it says the password is incorrect even though it is 100% correct?

After updating to iOS 8.1.1 on my iPhone 6, my wifi stop working completely meaning it was not able to join any network.
This is a solution that worked for me:
In the case of not being able to connect to a Wi-Fi network at all and getting "Incorrect Password" or "Unable to connect", try the following:
Change your router's WiFi mode to wireless " g " ONLY.

  • Wifi password incorrect

I have an ipod touch 2g not jailbroken
3 days ago wifi worked just fine,
it kept saying and I quote
    "Incorrect password for XXXXX"
    XXXXX stands for my network
Ive checked and copied the EXACT password from my router
works great with laptops and the ps3
    hhhheeeeeelllllllpppppppp me

    Try:
    - powering off and then back on the router
    - resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • IPhone 6 won't connect to home WiFi - Password Incorrect!

So, I got my brand new iPhone 6 yesterday.. Everything seems to work fine, except for internet connection..
Every time I attempt to connect, it rejects me, and tells me that the password is incorrect.
I also, can't really reach the the network by walking only 10 meters away.. I really have to stand right next to the router to get a chance.
I've tried reseting my phone completely, and it still doesn't work.
I can easily connect at school, that why I really can't decide if it's a hardware issue, or if it's my home network.
I just don't get it... Because we're a lot of users at home, we got tons of devices connected to the specific network. And its working impeccable.
So my question is.... Does this have something to do with iOS 8 and it's wellknown bugs, or do I have to get my iPhone replaced?

I just tried this and it worked, hopefully it works for you too, I have spent the last 3 hours trying to figure this out and nothing worked, I tried rebooting both my phone and the router, turning the airplane mode, etc etc I even took the password requirement off my router and still it would say "unable to join network"
All along it was my router and not my phone.
The routers have a list of allowed devices, called MAC filtering addresses, I had to manually add my phone's address and that fixed the "incorrect password issue"
I went to General > About > Wi-Fi address (copy that long number/letters thing) then log into your router and access the MAC filtering allowed devices list and enter that address in there and save it, that indicates to your router that your phone is allowed to access the network.
As soon as my husband added that address I tried entering the network password on my phone and finally it connected
    Good luck!

  • Wifi password incorrect. impossible!!

    Hi,
Suddnely I cannot connect to any netwerk using a passcode (like my own one at home. It worked fine until last week.
I cannot find the solution. I have an iphone 4s with ios 6.1.3.
Furthermore I noticed that connecting to my BT parrot in y car is also not working anymore.
It seems that every device with a passcode or password cannot be reached by me anymore.
    Anyone????
Please help. Tried so many things already : hard reset, delete all network settings etc..

Restore the phone using iTunes - first with a backup and if needed as new, without a backup. If restoring as new doesn't help, there is a hardware failure that needs evaluation by Apple and possible replacement of the phone.

I'm trying to connect to my home wifi with my imac gh5. After I enter the password it says connection timeout or password incorrect. I know there's no issue with the connection but I don't know what else to do. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

What is the make & model of your home Wi-Fi router that you are attempting to connect your G5 iMac to? Which exact model of iMac do you have?
What wireless security type is your router using: WEP, WPA, or WPA2? If you temporarily disable wireless security, can the iMac connect to it now?

  • My new Macbook won't connect to my wifi network - it keeps saying "password incorrect" - but I've tested it on my phone and works fine, I've checked the password I enter is correct digit for digit - what could the problem be?

you need to open the keychain access located in your utilities folder in the applications and once in the keychain on the left side click on the words system at the top and in the lower section click on passwords
next look in the striped area for any passwords that say airport network password next to kind and highlight those and hit delete on the keyboard to remove them from the keychain.
once you remove all of these airport passwords, quit the keychain
turn wifi off then back on, select your wifi network from the list and enter the password telling it to save to keychain this should resolve your issue!

  • My iPad Mini keeps saying "incorrect wifi password"

So just recently my ipad had dissconnected itself from our internet, i had attempted to re enter our regular wifi password which is about thirty numbers long, and it said incorrect, i figured sicne it was so long i mistyped something. so i typed it in another 10 or so times, no change. i later called apple which got me no where because appearently you now have to pay for phone sevices which is absouloutly ludacris. And seeing as our closest apple stores are in Detroit, or London, my parents cant just go take me whenever.
So anyways, i have googled every possible thing i can, and i still havent found any troublshooting things that work. Soft resets, and resseting network settings didnt help either. We thought it may have been our router, but yesterday i hd gotten a new phone which had no problems at all connecting to our internet, as well as my sister who had forgotten and reconected to our internet with out a problem too, i have tried updating to the latest ios but my itunes wont let me do it through the computer, and seeing as i have no wifi on my ipad i cant do it that way either.
So now im trying all i can to try and get it to update. I dont really want to restore because if i do and it doesnt fix anything, im stuck with an ipad that is basically usless because i cant download apps without wifi. And i have tried the whole turning on and off your router sequence many times and it hasnt worked.
So is there any way that i can fix this without restoring or going to apple? Restoring is my last resort.

Even though other devices can connect, it may still be worth resetting the router. Does it connect to other Wi-Fi networks?
If that doesn't work, you've done all the basic troubleshooting, so it's time for a restore.
If that doesn't work, you may have a hardware issue.

  • WiFi Authentication problem

I have an iMac, and iPad, a Blackberry (forgive me) and Airport for my WiFi all of my pieces are working fine with my WiFi.  I had guests over the other day and we could not allow my guests iPads or iPhone to sign onto my network.  I bought my dad a generic tablet to use for solving cross words, etc., and I cannot sign into my own network.  No opportunity exists to put in a password because it just reads "Authentication Problem".
No opportunity exists, therefore, to enter the password.  Signal strength is excellent, Securty is WPA2 PSK, I touch connect and it says Saved Secured with WPA2 and then goes back to "Authentication Problem."
I've unplugged (and plugged back in) both the Airport / router and Internet Service provider's modem. I've rebooted my iMac and the new generic pad 3 times each.
I had 2 networks one for me and one for guests, can't get into either, identical problem. I can see all of the neighbour's networks and they're all locked and say secured with (various WPA/WPA2, etc., just mine says Authentication Problem.  I plugged the tablet into my iMac and it's functioning well.
I now deleted the guest network and can't open a new network.
I've triple checked my passwords, hand written and in the Key Chain.
I've checked my Apple ID (I'm able to get into this forum).
Both my iPad (purchased May 2013) and BlackBerry (received free July 2013) signed in without any problems.
I cannot see why I can't get into my network ~ any ideas?

  • TS1398 iPad won't recognize wifi password after 7.0.2 update.  (The password is correct, but iPad says it's incorrect) How do I fix this?

My iPad won't recognize my wifi password after 7.0.2 update.  The password IS correct, but I continue to get the message that the password is incorrect.  Any ideas how to fix this?

I have the same problem too on my iPad 3. One thing that sometimes works is if you go to the App Store and put your password in there after a few tries it may work.
