Wifi password is not remebered?

iPhone does not remeber wifi password at home?

I'm sure, this is a really stupid question now, but how can I do a software update on my linksys router?
I cannot find anything when I'm opening my linksys router page?

Have you tried resetting network settings, then unplugging modem and router from power for 40 seconds then plugging back in letting the lights stabilize and Then recconecting with the ipod>?

  • Forgetting WiFi password, and not connecting to wireless access point automatically??

I'm using (until tomorrow when I get a MacBook Pro which HOPEFULLY won't have the same problem) a pre 2007 Macbook which is running Mac OS X 10.5.8. It was previously owned by my brother and passed onto me about 4 months ago. Within that time I've had nothing but problems with the WiFi connection!
The first issue would have to be that if I put the MacBook to "sleep" rather than turning off, it disconnects from WiFi during that process. Fine, that's to be expected. But when I wake it up, it's not only disconnected, but I have to re-enter my WiFi password in order to reconnect. Is there some reason that it will not remember the password through this sleep process? Turning off and on normally works fine, and it connects automatically, but not when it sleeps.
The second problem is equally confusing to my mind. In my house, we have a wireless access point upstairs (we have 3 floors after having our attic converted). All characteristics (name, password etc) are the same on the access point as on the main router downstairs. Every device in our house, included a couple of android phones, a tablet, and two laptops running various versions of Windows, all connect to this wireless access point with no problem at all. None of them have been "set up" to do so, in that they detect it as part of the same network and join it automatically. But for some reason, my MacBook won't do it? At first I would assume that perhaps it's due to the age of my MacBook and maybe some flaw in the old operation system, but my iPhone 4S running iOS 7 doesn't connect to this access point either. Is this some weird security thing that Apple use in their devices??
To make things even more frustrating, the MacBook's issue of remembering the WiFi password means that when I come back downstairs and into range of the main router, it's forgotten the password again and I have to re-enter it to reconnect.
Can some PLEASE offer some kind of assistance? I'm getting a brand new MacBook Pro tomorrow and if it's an OS issue then I assume I won't have it anymore, but I'm desperate to solve this issue one way or another considering this machine will be staying in the family and in this house so will pressumably have the same issues.
Thanks in advance guys! If I've not given enough info, just ask

  • Wifi password is not accepted

Every time I try to connect to my wifi connection the password is not accepted. I've tried everything, changing from wep etc

Are you referring to the WIFI password not being accepted? Your question is not clear.

  • Home wifi password does not save when switching iPod off and on again

Hi, when using my home wifi on my ipod touch the password does not save and I have to enter it every time I switch my ipod on. Is there a way around this. It was okay when I first got it. I have tried reseting the network settings, but this has not helped.

If you do a search of the forums, there appear to be a number of postings regarding iOS6, wi-fi security and random disconnection of wi-fi. It appears, as the posts have discussed, it is connected to the use of WPA2 security. Most of the posting, however, have been related to iPhone 5, not the 4S. As far was what was posted, they say Apple has been made aware of the issue and they are looking for a fix. Not sure if that would help the iPhone 4S, because it does not support both bands as the iPhone 5 does. Just remember that WEP is less secure than WPA2. You might also try restarting your router after changing back to WPA2 on the phone, depending on what the router is set for.

  • HT4623 os6 iphone 4s wifi password does not save when phone is turned off and turned back on

i just udpated my iphone 4S to OS6 and when accessing my secured wifi I add my password and then joins secured network.  However, if I turn the phone off and turn back on again the wifi connection is lost and cannot re join until I add my password AGAIN.  Tried soft reset and reset network but nothing worked.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Iphone - wifi password is not recognized

    hi,
I'm really going crazy with my iphone.
since a software update last week, my wifi connection at home is not working anymore.
I've tried everything described on the support side and things I found here in the forum, as
    1. Tap Settings > WiFi > Other network
    2. Enter the name of the network you are trying to log onto
    3. Tap Security and tell the iPod what type of security the network is using
    4. Tap Password and enter the network password
    TRIED - PASSWORD NOT RECOGNIZED
If this still doesn't work, reset your network settings (tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network settings and try the steps above again once the iPhone restarts.
    TRIED - PASSWORD NOT RECOGNIZED
my router at home is from linksys...
as I said, until last week, it worked properly without any problems...
now, the iphone only finds my wifi and asks for the password and after typing it I always geht the info, that network connection failed...
I have no ideas anymore what I can do and would highly appreciate your help

I'm sure, this is a really stupid question now, but how can I do a software update on my linksys router?

  • Wifi password does not recognized

I can not connect to the wifi because it does not recognize the password, but if this is correct. I connect until yesterday....and the others pc run perfectly.

There can be multiple things that can be happened here:
Your password can actually be wrong. Delete the network and do the process again.
Someone could have blocked the MAC Address or something as well.

  • WiFi Password does not stay!

No problem at my home network.
However, whenever I'm at my work WiFi and turn the iPhone on, a pop up comes to fill in the WiFi passowrd. However, I can not put it in because it does not stay. So I have to go to pref -> network and put it in there, then it works until I put the phone in standby mode. Waking up from standby mode the same issue starts!
    Any idea? Original iPhone, 2.2

I suggest try forgetting this network.
Select the network to view the network settings and at the top is a Forget this Network option.
Follow this by reconnecting to the network.
If this doesn't work, there is Reset Network Settings option at Settings > General > Reset.
This will erase all wi-fi network settings from your iPhone.

I FORGOT MY IPAD4(wifi) password and it got disabled now how can i recover it?? By the way the wifi is of and the location services and find my ipad are enabled now what can i do to recover it???? PLZ HELP!!!

Entering your Wifi password will not - unless I'm missing something completely - disable your iPad. The only thing which will disable your iPad that I'm aware of is entering your passcode for iPad incorrectly multiple times.
If this is the case then please see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you have forgotten your password for your router the WPA or WPA2 key as it's also known as they you will need to log in to your Router and setup a new WPA(2) key.

    Steve

  • Lost wifi passwords

Does anyone have a work around to extract all the saved wifi passwords on my 3g iPhone? I upgraded to a 4 last night, but for some reason the passwords didn't transfer when I did a restore on the 4 from a backup that was completed immediately before. I know the network settings didn't just get wiped though as the 3g still connects to all the saved wifi spots automatically.
    Hope this makes sense.
    Thank you!

Unfortunately my computer is an iMac, so it has not traveled at all. My iPhone 3g has saved wifi passwords for dozens of secured AP's in all the various places I travel to such as my family and other relatives houses, work, friends places, etc.... easily 20+ memorized wifi passwords. I'll essentially be dealing with this for weeks/months, as each time I go within range of one of the saved/remembered secured AP's, the phone tries to join but comes up and prompts me "the password for network 'xxxx' is invalid, please reenter" type message. It's almost as if the setting to "auto join network with SSID xxxxx" transferred, but with a blank/incorrect WEP/WPA key.
Any other ideas? So to summarize, I upgraded last night from a 3g to a 4, however my saved wifi passwords did not transfer. I completed the transfer by doing a backup of the 3g to my iMac, then plugged in the 4 and restored the backup. Otherwise, everything seems to have transferred just dandy.
Is anyone else seeing this, or am I alone?
    Thank you!

My iPad receives email on the hotel wifi but will not send.  The error message reads "user name or password for smpt......is incorrect" but both are correct and unchanged.  Restarting iPad did not help.

I did try this too, but when I access my webmail on the iPad, the iPad doesn't allow me to type my message.  I am able to enter in the "to" address and the "subject" line, but then the keyboard will not come up for me to type my message.  Is there some trick to this?  Very frustrating!

Thank you so much for reaching out to us. I know there are to many passwords out there now days to keep track of them all. Are you looking to reset the Verizon.net e-mail address? If so, you would need to reach out to Verizon Communication by calling 800-837-4966. Please keep us posted.
