WiFi / password not accepted although correct

After installing iOS6 on my iPhone 4s our WiFi is still detected but my phone continues asking for the password over and over again although it is correctly entered!

This is happening to me, too, since I upgraded to iOS6 on my 4S this AM. Every time the phone goes into lock/sleep mode, I lose my home wi-fi connection and have to reselect the network and re-enter the password. Any ideas, anyone??

  • My password is not accepted although correct

I am finding with both my machines that they will not accept my password. I go through the reset procedure and then find in due course the password is being rejected again.
The only reason I an think of for this is that I use the same password on both of my machines which are networked but I can't find anything suggesting this is a problem.
Does anyone have any ideas, please? I am not forgetting the password.

I had similar problem this morning on my tower G5. It didn't accept any password even though I know it's correct. I reset the password with 10.4 installation disk but it didn't help.
But somehow I was able to solve it. This is what I did.
    1) I installed another HD and booted my G5 up from that HD.
    2) G5 booted up fine, no password problem.
    3) Accessed the files on the HD which doesn't accept the password.
    4) Went to Startup Disk and booted from the problematic HD.
    5) My G5 booted fine and accepted the password.
I don't know what I did would work for everyone. Also, if you don't have a Tower, you cannot install another HD. If you have an iMac, maybe using an external firewire HD might do it. I'm eager to find out if this works for everyone.

  • Kindle - wifi password not accepted

I have just bought my first Kindle - from Tesco, so, unlike a Kindle from Amazon, it is not sold ready to go.  I have to connect via WiFi in order to register it.  But it is not accepting my wifi network password.  I am pretty sure I am entering the correct password because I used the same one for my laptop!  Very frustrating!  Can I reset my wifi network password via the BT website and start again with the Kindle (and my laptop)?  Best wishes - Kate

    Hi Kate and welcome
It does sound like you're trying to use the wrong key
For the homehub 3 - Lift the little tab and type in what is under Wireless key:
Don't use the Wireless WPS Pin or the Admin password
For the home hub 2 - On the rear of the hub, it's the one after Wireless key (WPA):
Don't use the Wireless Pin or the Admin password

  • WiFi Password not accepted

This morning I had to reset my Internet modem.  So I unplugged everything and after about 1-2 minutes, I plugged everything back in.  Then I left for work.  Came home and my laptop (Toshiba) is fine.  My iPhone5 and iPad Mine are not.  I've tried to enter the password several times and neither device will accept it.  I know it's correct because I opened the cisco connect application to verify the password was correct.  Shy of resetting both devices, what can I do?

Try going into the settings on your iDevices and resetting the network settings. Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings. It will then reboot and hopefully accept the new password.

  • IPhone 4S : Wifi Password not accepting + iTunes won't backup the iPhone

    Hi,
Am using a MBP  2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo , 8 Gb Ram and running 10.8.3 Mountain Lion.
My issue is that after an update to iOS 6.1.2 , my iPhone 4S can't join my Home Wifi. The Error I get is Password is incorrect. All other iPhones and iPads and Macs at home login without an issue.
The next issue that started is that my iPhone syncs changes with iTunes, but is not able to do a backup. I get an error "iTunes could not backup xx because an error occurred."
2 huge issues - I can't get wifi and I can't upgrade to the new 6.1.3 in hope of solving some of these issues.
I can't do a clean install without taking a backup, since I'll lose all my Messages - SMS
HELP ... This is driving me crazy and I can't find a fix anywhere
    Thanks a million in advance
    Vivek

Use the app My Contacts Backup, which will back up your contacts as an attachment to an email.  Send this email to yourself.  At any point in the future you can open this email on your phone and tap the attachment to re-import the contacts to your phone.  (If you get a new phone, send the email to yourself from your computer and open it on your new phone to import the contacts.
Alternatively, if your contacts are in Address Book you can open Address Book, click on any single contact, go to Edit>Select All (Command-A) to select all contacts, go to File>Export>Save as vCard and save this on your desktop.  Then email this file to your phone and tap the attachment to import the contacts.

  • My wife's iTunes ID will no longer work.  Tried to reset password but did not get email, tried to reset by answering personal questions' but will not accept the correct date of birth.  Has it been hacked?  How can I fix this?

My wife's iTunes used ID will not work.  Tried resetting the password, but email was not received.  Tried using personal questions method, but would not accept the correct date of birth, so could not go any further.  Has her iTunes ID been hacked?  How can I fix this?

    Thanks for that advice @randers4.
I linked through and submitted my info as a "topic not covered" in the iCloud section. After entering the serial number of my MBP it turns out I wasn't eligible for technical support (though I don't think this is hardware related support) and the final suggestion was to take my computer into an Apple store. I called my local Apple reseller and asked for assistance. The customer service rep was very nice but unable to help, so suggested I call Apple Support on 1300 321 456. I did so and, again, spoke to two very polite and helpful customer service people (I was transferred to security services). I didn't have to be on hold to speak to either rep for more than a few seconds! After trying a few different things, he worked out what was happening...
So, to cut a long story short, to solve the problem in my OP, all I had to do was log out of iCloud in my System Preferences and log back in using my current Apple ID. [Edited to add that I had to sign out of everything I was currently signed in to with my Apple ID before logging out and in again.]
    Problem solved!

  • My Macbook Pro is powering on in Safe Boot and will not accept the correct password

My Macbook Pro is only powering on in Safe Boot and will not accept the correct password. What do I do to get it out of Safe Mode?

MBP = Macbook Pro  (My shorthand)
I think I now understand what you are describing.  This is the Apple support article on a Safe Boot:

    Note this excerpt:
How are you starting your MBP.  Do you see a progress bar on startup?
    Ciao.

  • Wifi password not working on MacBook Pro

    Wifi password not working
I got a MacBook Pro today. The previous owner had Apple wipe it clean for the new owner, me. When I first tried putting my wifi password in, I wasn't remembering exactly what it was, so I tried many different possibilities. Since then, I found my password in my office. I put it in, when it asked for it. But, it's not taking it. It just says searching for networks. And, this is after I identified the correct network. So, I am wondering if perhaps after a number of "tries" does it not accept ANY further attempts ? You know like Banking passwords....you get locked out. I'm wondering if I'm locked out?

No, not like a bank timeout.
Open keychain in your Utilities Folder and look for old router password, or delete wrong passwords.
You can always reset your router password to something new that you can remember.

  • I entered a mistake in my passcode and now the passcode window will not accept my correct passcode. What can I do?

since i upgraded to ipad 7 ( i think thats what it was) i have been required to put in a passcode every time I open up. ( This is extremely annoying!!) Now since I entered my passcode ( why does it have to suddenly be called a passcode and not password ... as if its not bad enough to have "passwords", IDs,etc etc!!)  with an incorrect letter included in it the ipad will not accept my correct password. I am unable to access settings of course so I just do not know what to do. Can someone more ipad litereate than I help me.

  • Cant restore back up from iCloud as password not accepted

when trying to restore an 1phone 5s from iCloud back up my password is not accepted..i then go to iforgot, change my password retry the restore process and get the same issue.I have tried turning find phone off, starting again but still cant access back up because password not accepted.

I can't change my DNS settings. I'm trying to restore while setting up my phone. If I change the DNS settings while on the phone, and then restore the phone and try to restore from the back-up on my iCloud, it won't save that I've changed settings to use Google's public DNS. I would log onto my university's secure wifi instead of their guest wifi, but unfortunately I can't. because that involves an installation, which I can't do if I restore my phone and am trying to set it up.

  • Apple id password not accepted on icloud

why is my apple id password not accepted when I try to login to iCloud? The same password worked when I tried to login to support to post this question!

If Settings>iCloud is showing your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Gmail Error: Username and Password Not Accepted?

Okay, once in a while my e-mail actually works on my I phone but about 90% of the time I get this notification; Cannot Get Mail: Username and password not accepted. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Oh yeah, I'm using 1.0.2, gmail, and I'm positive my password and username is right.

I think the problem is solved. Last night I was on my friends computer and I accidentally stored my gmail password. I couldn't figure out how to delete it so I changed my password and then updated my iPhone with the new password. Ever since then I haven't had any problems.
