Wifi password problem

I am staying in the same hotel suite from a few months ago, but the wife password for my room is different.  My MacBook Air is unable to connect to the wife router because I don't know how to change the old password.  Any ideas?

Try the following: click on the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar, the Open Network Preferences, then Advanced, then on the name of the network, then the minus icon below. That will delete the network and you should then be able to join using the new password.

  • WRT110 WIFI password problem

    Hi Everyone,
I've got a very strange problem.  First, I indicated WPA under Wireless Security section and typed in my passphrase.  However when connecting to my wireless network name my passphrase never worked.  Second, I completely disabled security and tried to simply connect without any passphrase, but I was still being asked for a passphrase nonetheless.  I checked and double-checked and saved settings making sure security was disabled, but I was still being asked for a passphrase when choosing my wireless network!
I could probably restore my WRT110 to factory settings, however I don't want to loose other configurations like certain open ports and IP addresses I opened up for firewall.
Is there a way for me to resolve my WiFI password problem without restoring to factory default?  I just need to figure out how to make the WiFi passpharse work.  Here's what I have there:
    Security Mode: WPA Personal
    Encryption: TKIP
    Passphrase: 0sunspot0
    Key Renewal: 3600 seconds
However, when I pick my wireless network and try to connect to it by typing in 0sunspot0, I get authentication failure!
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks,
    Victor.

I have misplaced all relevant info. for my router.  I am trying to connect to a mini ipad.  What do I need?
Is the router up and running and you would only want to add a device wirelessly? If so, you may access the setup page as sabretooth has said. To check the wireless settings, you may check this link, http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=476326f36c294e579ba6691a8db5411e_3698.xml&pid=80&r...

  • TA48312 ipad 2 wifi password problem

i have problem with my apple ipad 2 wifi password ...i use itunes latest and win xp 2   HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP ME

I too have had this problem with both iPhone and iPad dropping my wifi network and now neither are able to join the network again. This has only occurred since the last iOs update. had problems with them dropping the network in the middle of something, but was usually able to reconnect after powerdown and reboot, now neither will reconnect.
Apple support says it's my router and modem, or my password is wrong. Nope, not those as my wii, desktop and roomie's laptop all connect just fine. The devices see the network, but are unable to join.
I am thinking this is a software/iOS issue.

  • IPad WiFi password problem fixed by switching to 128-bit encryption

Upon waking, my iPad would often prompt me to re-enter my WiFi password, or simply say that it wasn't connected to the internet.
I was using an old D-Link Router with 64-bit WEP encryption. After talking to a senior support tech, I switched the WEP to 128-bit and it's been smooth sailing ever since.
This is still a bug, because if you're in some random hotel, you can't change the router settings. But this workaround may help until a patch is released.

  • IPad 2. Wifi password problems

Hi. Have iPad 2. And keeps forgetting wifi password eg when I go to work and then return I have to re enter the home wifi password.  Any ideas?

No - just off line at work.  It seems to occur when I go out of coverage of the home wifi and then back when it won't log on automatically.  I have a BlackBerry which manages just fine to recognise the home wifi and log on.  It works when unsecurred but obviously I don't want that.  I am using WEP at home.
I seem to recall my iMac did this for a while then randomly stopped.

  • Wifi password problems

I'm having trouble accessing the option to enter wifi password at work. After I accidentally put in the wrong password for wifi, I receive message "unable to join the network..." How do I  regain access to enter wifi password?

If you click on the i (info) icon for that wifi connection, you'll be able to "forget" that connection.  After that, you can reselect it from available networks and enter the correct password.

  • Weird 7.0 (7.02) wifi password problem

i have this weird problem wih wifi in 7.0 and 7.02 - it happened on my iPhone 5 and its happening on my 5S
At work we have a wifi network with an 8 character password - if i type the password the join button stays grey - if i add a space it turns blue but of course its then not the right paassword
At hom i have a wifi network with a longer password and there are no problems
I sent feedback to Apple about this but im wondering if anyone else noticed the problem and has any idea on how to solve it - ive tried resetting network settings
Unfortunately i cant ask our systems folks to change the password to something longer just to accomadate me

I understand where you coming from. Getting people to change passwords to accomadate you and I respect that you don't want to be a bother like that.
But I just want to say, that there is absolutely no magical setting or anything that will help with your situation. Unfortunately it is either Apple (probably not though), your internet provider, or your company that has gone wrong.
If it is your company that is the one liable for you not being able to connect to your internet, well then, like you said "I can't ask the system folks to change the password to something longer just to accomadate me".
If it is Apple's fault, you've emailed them and they'll probably tell you like I am that you, nor they can do anything (as there is once again not a magical setting that will fix the issue).
If it's your provider, I don't think you would have the details to contact them or the details as to the questions they would ask you.
Sorry man, but you're in a (as I like to call it) a three-way-corner. You don't have the details to go one way, the other way doesn't know how to help you (or can't) and then the third way would only annoy your "system folks".
... But if you're the boss or the CEO of some company, tell them to do it.

  • Why did this happen? wifi password problem

I would be grateful if anyone could enlighten me.
Yesterday I spent some fruitless hours trying to set up my airport express to join my wifi network. (DGND3700 Simultaneous dual band 2.4GHz & 5GHz)
After a few failed attempts I tried establishing a connection thru a password free channel and succeeded.
Again after a few more failed attempts I searched this forum and read Henry B.'s advice.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/6611596#6611596
Most problems at this point are due to not correctly implementing the same wireless network security protocol and password on both the wireless router and the Airport Express. What method are you using (WEP or WPA)? If you have the option on your wireless router, select WPA with TKIP encryption.
I changed the security setting on the DGN from WPA2-PSK (AES) to WPA-PSK (TKIP)  and it worked.
I wondering why it does’t work with WPA2-PSK (AES) and also why there is no mention of this easily found in the so called setup manual or elsewhere.
Thank you Henry B. for your advice.

The WPA wireless security equivalents for AirPort & other manufacturers routers are as follows:
    WPA - Non-Apple: WPA-PSK (TKIP) = Apple: WPA/WPA2 Personal
    WPA2 - Non-Appler: WPA-PSK (AES) = Apple: WPA2 Personal
In theory, when you first attempted to join the DGND's Wi-Fi network with the AirPort Express, it should have recognized the wireless security type as WPA2 Personal when it encountered your router's WPA2-PSK (AES) setting. However, it may also fall back to WPA/WPA2 Personal which (in theory) attempts to connect with AES first, then TKIP when that fails. Note: AES is a much stronger encryption key vs. TKIP.
It may just be possible that the AES implementation for each router is just off enough to make that setting incompatible.

  • TS1398 iPhone WiFi Password Problem

I have a wireless network that I connect with on my MacBook but not on my iPhone.  When I try to login to the network I get an error message saying the password is incorrect.  This is the same password that I am using on the MacBook which works fine.  Anyone have any ideas?

Forget the network (in settings/WiFi). Reboot the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears, then try again.
If that does not resolve the problem go to Settings/General/Reset - Reset Network Settings.
BTW, if it is a 40 bit WEP key it must be key 1 (although I hope no one uses WEP anymore, regardless of key length).

  • WiFi password problem (keychain problem?)

    Hi
I have a iPod Touch 4th gen. Recently, to make a long story short,I forgot my passcode and after a few minutes on the internet I ended up deleting the +keychain db+ file on my ipod. Luckily I made a copy of the keychain file and it is on my desktop now. But now all my passwords (mail, itunes, wifi, etc.) are not on my ipod anymore, but I cannot access wifi, even though I put in the correct password. Could I put the old keychain file back onto my ipod to get my data back? How?.... Any other solutions?

the keychain.db (data base file) is a storing file and anyway how'd you delete it, it's in the system area for the ipod; it's like deleting a car suspension systemwhile the car is moving.
if you locate the file and put the old one back in, it should work otherwise you might need to hard reset,or if your luckey a resore will work.
    hope i helped.

  • Wifi password problem in lion

My Mac mini (2011– came with Lion pre-installed) is unable to connect to my home wifi network. I have the right password (double checked) every other device is able to access the wifi network (iphone, ipad, other macs) but not the mini. Tried changing the router password to something else but no luck. Every other device connects but the mini still gives me the wrong password error (shaking login window). Any ideas on how to solve this?
    Thanks,

I understand what your say, but in this case I have typed, and re-typed the password very carefully. I Know the password by heart (it's may usual password). I also checked in the router settings page, and the password was the correct one. Still I changed the password on the router to a new one. Changed the login settings on the other devices (iphone, ipad, Macs, etc..) and all successfully joined the WiFi network. All but the Mac mini. Keep getting the password error. A WiFi with no password is a security risk that I can't take...

  • Belkin WiFi Password Problem

I have a Belkin wireless G Router. It all works fine except when I want to put a passcode on the wireless internet. I connect to the router and create a codekey, but when I type in the codekey to connect wirelessly it wont let me. I spoke to Belkin regarding this and the chap checked everything was set up correctly (which it was), then he informs me I need to add a letter/digit onto the passcode if Im using a mac? He couldnt tell me what the the letter/digit would be and that I'd have to speak to Apple? Is this familiar with anyone here?
    Cheers

Unfortunately not familiar with the Easybox. One thing I would try though is to temporarily disable encryption and see if the phone will connect. At least you will know if there is a fundamental connection problem or a problem with just the encryption. Another thing worth checking is the router log which may contain relevant information about the connection attempt.

  • All in one 2545 printer wifi password new printer

how i solve my wifi password problem i purchase it yesterday. pls suggest me how can i handle this problem

Sometimes Internet service providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the Internet line that runs between the router and the wall
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the router.
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know, use the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the self-test printout) for the gateway and first DNS.
    - Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
    - Finally, plug in the Internet line, reboot the router and test.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • I am unable to enter a £ symbol in a wifi password has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution?

I am unable to enter a £ symbol to a wifi password has anyone had  similar problem and found a solution?

On the US keyboard, it's option + 3.
However, when I try to enter that combination in Mail 4.4 or the Safari 5.0.5 browser, it is apparently has some reserved function and opens another window. It does seem to produce the correct character in Firefox 4.01
If possible, I'd suggest changing the WiFi password so that it does not included any 'reserved' keystrokes.

Read the router's user manual on how to change your password.
If you are going to select another password, make sure it's one that you will NEVER forget AND no one else can figure it out.  Print it out & keep in a safe place.  A place that ONLY you know about AND never forget.
