WIFI Printing via a Time Capsule

This matter involves a new HP Laserjet Pro M1217 MFP printer. I am also using a New Time Capsule (2 TB) Router. After installing the current printer drivers & firmware updates from the HP website, I run into an issue when trying to print wireless from one of my iOS devices. The display on the printer shows the following msg: "No WPS Router Found". The TC is configured to use WPA/WPA2 for security measures. Is there a way to config. the TC so that it looks like a WPS Router to the printer?

HI ORCHID766
HERE IS STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION HOW TO DO IT !!
1) TURN THE PRINTER ON AND INSTALL BASIC USB DRIVERS THAT COME WITH THE INSTALL DISC.
2) KEEP THE USB WIRE STILL PLUGGED IN UR MAC COMPUTER AND THE OTHER END IN THE PRINTER.
3) NOW OPEN THE "SYSTEM PREFRENCE "
4) THEN GO TO THE PRINT AND FAX TAB

6) IN THE SAME WINDOW THEIR WILL BE A PICTURE OF PRINTER AND THEIR WILL BE AN OVAL TAB "OPTIONS AND SUPPLIES" CLICK ON IT.
7) IT WILL TAKE U TO GENERAL TAB ON NEW WINDOW.
8) FIND THE UTILITY TAB WHICH WILL BE LAST ON THE RIGHT.
9) OPEN PRINT UTILITY AND HIT OK IN BOTTOM.
10) AS LONG AS U WILL BE CONNECTED TO UR  "PRINTER VIA USB  AND  INTERNET VIA ANY MODE" A NEW BROWSER WINDOW WILL OPEN IN TO UR COMPUTER.
11) IT WILL TAKE U STRAIGHT TO ONLINE PRINTER CONFIGURATION.

IT WILL TAKE YOU TO NEW WINDOW NOW THE NEW TABS WILL BE IN VERTICAL BAR THEIR IS "WIRELESS TAB"  CLICK ON IT AND ENABLE IT IF DISSABLED. THEN,

  • Set up printer connected to Time Capsule via USB and print without WiFi

Is there any way to do this? We use a Time Capsule for daily backups, for both Mac and PCs, and have a printer that we would like to share between all of them. Before, we had the printer connected to a PC as this allowed both PCs and Macs to print to it, but of course the PC had to be on. For whatever reason, when we plugged the printer into a Mac, the PCs couldn't connect or print.
From what Apple has told me, I have two options:
    1. Share the printer via WAN, which is not desirable, as any other office could then print to our printer.
    2. Create a hidden, password-protected, wireless network. This causes problems for two reasons. Firstly, we are not permitted to "extend" the network, and by creating a wireless network and attaching it onto the ethernet network, we are basically doing that. Secondly, if we did create this wireless network, computers that connected to the network to be able to see the printer would then default to the wireless network for internet access, rather than the ethernet connection.
If I am misunderstanding something, or someone has an idea of how to password protect a printer connected to a Time Capsule without using wifi, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sharing via WAN through the Time Capsule, for whatever reason, is not password protected. Any computer in our building can see the printer, and use it. When we were sharing the printer through the PC / Bonjour, when setting up the printer on a new machine, a valid username and password from the connected PC was required.
I should add that the purpose of trying to share this via the Time Capsule, rather than the PC, is that the Time Capsule is always on, and we notice an increase in performance when the PCs are powered down regularly.

  • I would like to use my iPhone 6's wifi hotspot to provide Internet at home (I do not have home internet) via a Time Capsule which I currently use the TC simply as a home wifi network without Internet to enable things like printing wirelessly and back

I would like to use my iPhone 6's wifi hotspot to provide Internet at home (I do not have home internet) via a Time Capsule which I currently use the TC simply as a home wifi network without Internet to enable things like printing wirelessly and backing up data wirelessly via time machine.
I have a Mac Pro, iPhone 6, iPad, Apple TV and Time Capsule. No home Internet.
Is is possible to have my iPhone 6's wifi hotspot used to provide Internet to my wifi network on time capsule? Has anyone else had success doing this? I'm not a tech head and really know very little about things like this. Thanks. Jen

You can have a go using a wireless bridge.. eg the airport express will do this.. you can join it to the iphone wireless running as a hotspot.. and then plugged into the TC wan port.. the TC has to be setup in router mode.. so this is going to give you double NAT errors.. and of course errors for all the time the hotspot is turned off.. but it can work. However you might find it requires you to manually connect up each time.. If you are really going to try and do this you will manage it.. but how fiddly it becomes might put you off after a week.
You will chew up your 5GB very fast using any streaming media even radio. So be very careful to track the usage.
Apple should have built in the TC the ability to plug in a wireless 3G modem.. via the USB but Apple have ceased to do adventurous stuff.
If you give up the TC as main router there are plenty of better products on the market that will handle multiple wan connections.. !!

  • My macbook pro is connected to internet via my time capsule but my iPad and iPhone won't. it shows wifi connection to the time capsule but when i go on to the internet on the iPad or iPhone, it comes up with network error. can anyone help?

my macbook pro is connected to internet via my time capsule but my iPad and iPhone won't. it shows wifi connection to the time capsule but when i go on to the internet on the iPad or iPhone, it comes up with network error. can anyone help?

This can be caused by a number of issues.
Was everything working and then suddenly stopped??
Or is this a new clean setup and has never worked.
Do you have a cable modem which is not a router and the TC setup in bridge? That will cause it. The TC must be in router mode, ie dhcp and nat.
Check the IP the MBP gets including dns and gateway..
Then check the ipad/iphone.. post what IP dns and gateway (router in applespeak) they get.

  • No printer tab in time capsule

I am trying to add a printer to my Time Capsule.  It is not a wifi enabled printer, so I was thinking about just connecting it to my Time Capsule via USB and using the Time Capsule as my wifi sharing.
I don't see a tab in the Time Capsule for printing.  I seem to recall this existed at one time, but for some reason it is gone now.
I updated to Time capsule from 7.6 to 7.6.1, but still nothing there.
I have not found a simple solution as I was hoping on line.  Can anyone assist?

I'm not suggesting that you "downgrade" at all.  I am suggesting that you add the full feature version of AirPort Utility to your Mac.
Both AirPort Utility 5.6 and 6.0 were made available on the same day. You can keep both versions on your Mac and use the one that you want. You may have missed this information from Apple.
But, don't be fooled by the lower 5.6 number....5.6 does a lot more than 6.0
For reasons only known to Apple, AirPort Utility 6.0 is in fact a serious downgrade. We cannot answer for Apple on that.
Let us know if you decide to add AirPort Utility 5.6 and more functionality to your Mac. In case you were wondering, 6.0 cannot be easily be deleted....it is part of the Lion operating system.

  • Printer seen from Time Capsule - print not adding to queue.

Been a while since I've been here... things have been doing well until now.
At our store in Minnesota, we've got 13 Macintoshes on display as well as a Time Capsule. All of them have been able to network to each other, as well as see our Epson CX7400 on the network. Every Mac has the appropriate driver installed, with the printer added successfully to each system.
However, when any given Mac attempts to print to the Time Capsule's Epson CX7400, which is networked via the Bonjour protocol, the print queue remains empty (as if nothing was ever sent to it), and the printer does not respond.
All I get is a quick blip on the screen showing that the document is being prepared for printing, sends it to the queue where it mysteriously disappears.
Not sure what is going on here. I've looked at as many things as I could. Might be something simple that I'm missing, I don't know.
I've reset the printing system, reinstalled drivers, checked the Bonjour and network settings on both the Time Capsule and each Macintosh to no avail.
    Any ideas?

Same exact problem here! Same printer... Time Capsule... Everything. And it just started happening about the same day as the first post. Someone help!

  • Why can't I print wireless with Time Capsule anymore?

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1280 that I have been printing wireless with for many years by plugging it in to the USB port on the back of the Time Capsule. Not anymore.
I have a MacBook Pro running the latest OS as well as the latest model Time Capsule running the latest software from Apple. I have tried using Airport Utility 5.6 which sees the printer plugged in. But when I try to add the printer to the Print & Scan system preferences, it shows up but says:
Software for this printer is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it?
When I click "Download and Install" it searches for the software but then tells me:
The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer’s manufacturer for the latest software.
When I plug the printer directly into my MBP, I can add the printer and print without any problems.  Per Epson, I have the latest software for my printer, so I'm not sure why Apple needs to search for the software and download it in order for me to print using the Time Capsule.
Like I said before, this all use to work flawlessly. I'm assuming all the updates have "broken" something.
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

    Well, I solved my problem.
I deleted the EPSON folder in Library/Printers as well as Library/Cache and installed the EPSON driver via Softwar Update.
    Everything is working fine now.

  • Extending a wifi network with a time capsule

My broadband router (BT) can only go in my office and is the same room that my iMac is located.
Is there any way that I can connect my Time Capsule to either my BT wireless router or my iMac via WiFi and us the Time Capsule as another wifi base station.
Idelaly I want the Time Capsule in the hallway so that I can connect via WiFo from my living room.
Currently the living room is too far from my office to connect to my BT router via WiFi.

Is there any way that I can connect my Time Capsule to either my BT wireless router or my iMac via WiFi and us the Time Capsule as another wifi base station.
Unfortunately, no...unless you want to connect the Time Capsule to the BT router using a wired Ethernet connection or by using Ethernet over Powerline (EOP) adapters.
You need two Apple routers to be able to "extend" using wireless only......since this feature only works among Apple wireless routers.
If you connected an Apple router to the BT router using a wired Ethernet connection and configured the Apple router to "create a wireless network", then you could use the Time Capsule to "extend" that same network using wireless only.

  • IPad stopped WiFi internet connection with Time Capsule

My wife's iPad is suddenly having a problem connecting to the internet via the Time Capsule (3rd Gen). Full strength on the WiFi icon but gets message that it cannot connect to the internet. This just started. Her MacBook Air connects fine and so does my MBP and my iPad as well as our daughter's MB and iPad. Both of our iPhones also show full wifi strength. Just my wife's iPad that suddenly is having a problem. I have tried powering down the iPad. I have tried turning the wifi on and off. I have sync'd it with iTunes and it reports that the OS is up-to-date. I used the AirPort Utility and checked the TC and it seems to be up-to-date. I also did a "Renew DHCP Lease"
The iPad is a Model MB293LL running version 4.3.5 (8L1)
The iPad Settings shows it connected to the Time Capsule with an IP Address of 10.0.1.4; Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0; Router of 10.0.1.1
When I use "About This Mac" on my MBP, it shows the TC (with Version 7.5.2) info as:
    Wedgewood Time Capsule:
    PHY Mode:          802.11g
    BSSID:          0:19:e3:30:e3:39
    Channel:          1
    Network Type:          Infrastructure
    Security:          WPA2 Personal
    Signal / Noise:          -87 dBm / -96 dBm

    Country Code:          US
    Network Type:          Infrastructure
    Security:          WPA2 Personal
    Signal / Noise:          -81 dBm / -96 dBm

Please disregard my post...It's now connecting...go figure. Last night, I did all of the above described in my post and nothing. This morning, I do the post and then I go and do another Safari link to Apple.com and it connects.

  • Wireless Printer connection to Time Capsule

I have a Canon Pixma MP620 wireless printer that I'm trying to connect wirelessly to my Time Capsule. Is there a way to do this using the touch button method? Most access points have a button that can be pressed to receive a signal from another wireless device so they can sync but I haven't seen anything like that on my Time capsule

So you plugedd the printer into the time capsule usb right?
You need to re-add the printer in the system preferences one more time because the location has moved.
