  • Problem with Nokia Messaging on my N97 (V22)

Since afew weeks I have a strange problem with Nokia Messaging on my N97.
I receive emails using Nokia Messaging (V10.2.26) with a date shown incorrect as 01.01.0000 and the email then can’t be opened/read.
This happens either on 3G connection as well as WLAN and it seems to be by random, not only HTML-emails or emails with text only.
I have uninstalled Nokia messaging already and reinstalled V10.1.24 but the problem still remains.
Is there any idea how to fix this issue because it is quite annoying and I can’t use the full functionality of my cell phone?

  • Wifi problem with nokia x7 belle....

i cant access my wifi with my nokia device when i connect it says connection failed or connection unavailable....

    Hi usamabasharat,
Welcome to the Nokia discussions boards!
Have you tried to reset your router and change the passkey? You should try this and then connect again.
Also, It might be worth you trying to do the following reset:
    Soft Reset:
Enter into your keypad *#7780# and when prompted, enter the default passcode 12345. If you have changed the code, it will be the code you changed it to.
A backup will not be needed as this will not delete any data.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Problems using Nokia Messaging on E61

    Hi all,
I'm new here so I appologize if the problem has already been reported or if I'm using the wrong part of the forum for this issue.
After having installed Nokia Messaging (of which I'm pretty satisfied) I cannot access the options button at least on agenda entries and on the gallery files. This happens after opening the entries/files.
Has any solution been already found for this issue?
    Thank you very much!

  • Nokia Messaging 6303i classic - no e-mail alerts

    Hi all,
I have a problem with Nokia Messaging on my new phone - Nokia 6303i classic. The problem is that I can't enable the e-mail alert option - when I tick the "Alert me for new e-mail" option, it says "E-mail alerts not available. Alerts option ot available". My e-mail account is in Gmail. My service provider (VIVACOM, Bulgaria) says that they support Nokia Messaging and that it's up to some settings (which they apparently can't figure out!). I have all the necessary settings to access the internet and the phone browser works great; Nokia Messaging also works - connects to my Gmail account, receives messages, the only problem is with new e-mail alerts.
I know 6303i doesn't support multitasking - could the problem be related to this (e-mail client unable to run in the background)?
I used a Nokia 2330 before and it had a native e-mail client with far more capabilities - no problem with e-mail alerts, could edit (copy/paste) received e-mail body text (a very useful function which lacks in Nokia Messaging!) - can I get that on my 6303i instead of Nokia Messaging?
    Phone firmware version: V10.80/21-01-11/RM-638
    Nokia Messaging version: 1.3.49
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    N. Y.

I recieved an update from Nokia support center. For everyone wondering, here's the deal, as far as I get it 6303i comes with embedded Nokia messaging application instead of the usual s40 native e-mail client; that's why there's no e-mail alert tone option in the profiles' settings. However, when you try to enable e-mail alerts from inside the Nokia Messagign application, you get an error message stating that this option is unavailable. What I could make out is that, as s40 doesn't support multitasking, Nokia Messaging can't be left running in the background and therefore can't alert you on new e-mails. As I see it, it's a design failure.
Nokia, if you couldn't make Nokia Messaging e-mail alerts work in s40, why didn't you just leave the good old native e-mail client, for crying out loud???!!!

    N. Y.

  • E75 reports (no messages) with Nokia Messaging Gma...

I signed up for an account a http://email.nokia.com, went through the processed, and received the installation message fine on my phone. The account appeared to have set up correctly. I entered my email, accessed the account, it asked me for my password, I entered it, and it connected without reporting an error. However, after connecting, the account reported (no messages) when there are actually several messages in my inbox all newer than 3 days. I can access the account fine if I set it up using the phone's built in software, but I would really like to utilize push email. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this issue?

Here's the deal. Like many of you, I have faced the exact same problems with Nokia Messaging on the E75. You can send emails but cannot receive them. The phone, the connection and the synchronization seems all fine with the green ring attempting to fetch from nokia servers but resulting in zero emails.
Well, I have more or less narrowed down the cause of the problem if by chance you have not noticed it is none other then - NOKIA MESSAGING!!!!
When ever you sign-up for a new account it is set up in one of many Nokia servers. Mine is "netac12.vie.hosting.nokia.com" you can find the server info on your phone. It could be that these new servers are not configured properly to work with some of our phones in particular, the E75. Other possibilities may be that the integrated Nokia Messaging software in the phone may be having some problems in communicating with the nokia server. Which ever way you look it just comes down to software problems.
As of now, I don't believe Nokia has a solution but am sure they are aware of the situation. As much as Nokia may not acknowledge certain problems with its products or services but trust me they are aware... or maybe just giving a "blind eye" so to speak for the time being..
One may ask how sure I am if it is not the hardware of the phone or my WiFi/GPRS connection that is at fault and with that, I ask of you to try the following experiment.
Download emoze (www.emoze.com) on to your phone to be 100% sure that your phone and connection is in good working order. It is a freeware Push eMail service with certain limitations of course. You may choose to remove it completely, if you don't like it but for the benefit of the test and also that it is FREE just bare with its dry interface.
After when you have installed emoze onto your phone you will realize.. SUDDENLY.. you are able to send and receive YES, RECEIVE emails almost instantaneously! To be sure that Nokia Messaging is indeed running foul I let both emoze and Nokia Messaging run on my phone in the background and send myself an email via my PC. Emoze as clockwork, without fail, gets me the email within a minute - most of the time within 15 seconds. Whereas, Nokia Messaging, as I may add, is a very moody service. It will choose when to deliver if at all and when not to at its own BLOODY will !!!
Please excuse my language, just like many of you I am very disappointed and that to have call Nokia Care Line on several occasions and only to be told that no one else seems to be facing this problem and they make me go through the damn settings over-and-over again. If there is a fault, please rectify and not hide behind your virtual bush.
I sure hope, that Nokia will start taking ownership of its product issues and give us an update or some form of acknowledgement that it is looking into our concerns. Responsible companies will definitely demand a whole lot of customer respect. Take for example Microsoft. From time-to-time its software and products will run into venerability issues and Microsoft acknowledges these issues, customers concerns and releases a patch to fix the problem. Likewise, I hope Nokia will follow suit.
I have been a Nokia cell phone supporter for over 15 years. I am seriously, considering a swap to a BlackBerry once my contract expires with my service provider. Nokia please do your due diligence.

  • Nokia pulled Nokia messaging ?

    I have 5800xm vith v40 and i just did a hard reset.
I downloaded the Nokia Messaging V10.2 from software update and i cannot get it work.
After the installation , 2 icons were in the apps folder, one is email set up another is email.
No matter which one i click, it will send me to email setup process and this setup process will add an email account to "messaging Folder " but not "nokia email client"
I am not able to use the same "Nokia Messaging" email client as the one before the hard reset.
    Anyone know what happened?
I tried to download nokia messaging from ovi store, email.nokia.com, messaging.nokia.com

It's a worry. The fact is that Nokia can't write good software, at least not so one piece integrates with the rest.
I had the same thing happen so I just use the "E-mail" client inside the default messaging suite, it is primitive but it works fine. I got sick of the idiotic Email setup wizard firing up each time I turned the phone on so I simply deleted it!!! This got rid of the non-functional "Email" client at the same time. Of course, I can't add another mailbox without reinstalling the default email wizard but I don't need to, the one I created with it earlier continues to work fine in the messaging suite.
I don't like the idea of Nokia's new messaging product, I believe that they are caching your email accounts on their own servers and drip feeding them to you when you sync to them. This is NOT the way open software is supposed to work Nokia! This is the Google technique of owning your content! Bad direction guys!
Bearing the above in mind, the only decent solution is to use a quality 3rd party email client. I haven't found a good enough one yet, but there has to be one just around the corner. Perhaps another reader has a suggestion?

  • Nokia Messaging 10.2 (26), N97, Message Storing Me...

    Hi
I would like to know about the latest version of Nokia Messaging V10.2 (26) on N97 (V 22). Is it storing messages on C - Drive like always or has been shifted to Mass memory ?
    Regards,
    Zeeshan

I do not know if you are really so ignorant. Nokia Messaging on N97 is using our beloved C-memory although one has set  that messaging property to be on E. thats mean it eats very easily 10 Mb as now they are also sync back to 30 days mail.
I have no idea from where nokia gets his engineers. Really amazing foreseeability.

  • Nokia Messaging causes N97 to reboot/switch off?

    Hi Guys,
I've noticed there are some people who are running 12.0.24 firmware here who claim that their Nokia N97 'is working fine with no issues at all'.
My question to you is are any of you people who have no reboot/turning off problems running Nokia Messaging (latest version)? Why I ask is I am sure that it may have something to do with Nokia Messaging but I have to rule out what others are running.
Are you guys all using the built-in e mail client? I have switched across to that now, my reboots have not happened since but GOD the built-in client is an awful experience having been a long time user of Nokia Messaging, particularly that I now no longer can read HTML.
    Help!

The Nokia Messaging is purely for email so if your not fussed with Email then no need to use it. Essentially your email looks identical to how it would look using a PC. So all HTML emails with pictures, fancy images, complex layout etc, comes out exactly on your phone as it would on a PC.
The built in client feels prehistoric actually compared to that but funny thing is Im nearly 24 hours now with no reboot since I removed the messaging client....

  • Html email cropped in nokia messaging on e72

    hi,
i have NM setup to access my gmail account. i receive some html emails that are very long and when i go to view them in html view i often find the email is cropped before the end. is anybody else experiencing this? its rather annoying as it means i have to go read the rest of email from a PC.
    cheers,

there are many people that are having issues with nokia messaging right now.
the servers are up and down randomly and the enter your password issue is common right now.

  • Nokia Messaging not deleting emails from Gmail ser...

When I access my gmail account via Nokia Messaging on my E72, any emails that I delete using my nokia are not deleted from my gmail account - instead they are being transferred to my All Mail folder, which is where I keep email that I have ARCHIVED, not email that I have deleted, so it's messed up my archived mail and also means that when I access my gmail via POP in Outlook, items that I have previously 'deleted' on my mobile have to be downloaded and sorted through again. Is there a way to change this behaviour? At the moment the gmail app is a better option.

Unfortunately this didn't work for me (E75). I created an extra label. I also subscribed in imap to this folder. When I want to delete a message, I move it to this folder / label. Every now and then I delete all these mails from gmail on my PC.
    Suyogmh wrote:
This is well known behavior of Gmail and not problem with Nokia Messaging as such.
Gmail has different way of handling emails with labels instead of folders. So "All Mails" means all mails except Spam and Trash. Check following link for more details.
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en &answer=77657
Check if following settings are in order in Gmail - settings - forwarding and POP/IMAP in web browser.
    Status: IMAP is enabled
Auto-Expunge : Do not automatically expunge messages
When a message is expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:  Immediately delete the message forever
Folder Size Limits: Do not limit the number of messages in an IMAP folder
Now head over to email.nokia.com and login with your username/pwd
Under My Email Addresses, for your gmail account , click edit settings
Now in "Mail folders to sync" Please ensure that you select "All Mail" , "Spam" and " Trash"
You can also select other labels , max upto 10.
Click Save changes and log out.
Now in your Nokia Phone, Open Nokia Messaging and Sync again.
Go to Gmail and these new labels should appear there.
If you want to delete a message from all folders, move it to the [Gmail]/Trash folder.
If you delete a message from [Gmail]/Spam or [Gmail]/Trash, it will be deleted permanently.
So I know it's little extra effort but we can do it. I hope you find this useful. If yes, don't forget to give me Kudos

  • Nokia Messaging Fix, Uninstall and then Reinstall

I had the problems with Nokia Messaging recently. Was able to get into Nokia Messaging Application, but it would not transfer email or let me get into configuration to remove/reset email address. Tried calling support, but they were pretty useless. They had me reset my phone assuming it was an issue with the phone itself (not corrupting within the Software).
First I tried reinstalling (over top of previous install), but that did not fix.
Finally, in desparation, I removed the application and restarted the phone, Then reinstalled Nokia messaging application
    by going to :
    email.nokia.com
    and it fixed the problem.
I had to redownload emails (so make sure you retain any emails that may be important to you if you have already deleted from the source email location).
Hope this helps others not waste time on Nokia methods of fixing (or if they Nokia methods fail to fix).

Yeah, this worked for me too.
But is anyone else totally outraged at the lack of clear guidance from Nokia on this one?
Anyone else spend 5 or 6 hours doing everything they could imagine to fix it. I suspect so.
Guys, you have had a shocker!

  • Nokia Messaging 1.1 devastating for battery life

I installed the latest Nokia Messaging (0.95) on my N85 on Thursday, and since then I have had to charge my phone almost twice a day. That compares with every other day when running with the previous version. What has happened?

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't help me with my issue.
I emailed Nokia with the above problem, got a confirmation email saying I'd get a response within 48 hours. That was 72 hours ago! Very poor.  Just sent the same message again.
I now have another problem with Nokia Messaging.  My main BT Yahoo email address is set up in Nokia Messaging, but isn't downloading messages in "real time" as it used to, despite being set to send and receive 'soonest', on all day every day. I 'no entry' sign appears in the top left of the main Nokia messaging window that never used to, and I have to manually select 'sync' to receive any new messages.
This is REALLY **bleep**!  So, Nokia Messaging offers "push", real time email delivery for up to ten email accounts.  Only in the latest version, it's not real time (you have to manually push 'sync', and it doesn't work at all with 1&1 email address.  Even though the last version did.
Nokia, PLEASE, sort it out - especially if you reckon you've ever got a chance in hell of CHARGING peopple for this service!  hint: make the service/software do what it's supposed to first.
And someone, someone, please get back in touch and FIX MY PROBLEM!  Honestly, the time I've wasted trying to fix this in the last few days....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nokia Messaging wont use WiFi-Connection

Im using version 9.6.0.12 of Nokia Messaging for emails on my N96 in german. The phone firmware is version 30.101.
Now the problem is: Ive configured my default access point so that every application first checks if there is one of my known WLANs in range, and if not, uses UMTS to connect to the web.
This works fine with most apps... but Nokia Messaging just ignores it and always establishes a UMTS connection when Ive set its access point to "Default".
I can force Nokia Messaging to use WiFi when I go to "settings -> general -> service info -> access point" and choose one of my WLANs there (instead of "Default"). But it is very impractical to change this setting every time I move to another location.
Is this a bug or is there some way to fix it?

I have the same problem in my x6-00, although i can live without messaging, have all my email accounts configured and use them manually with wifi.
However, the problem is that the lonely planet and michelin guides in the ovi maps use nokia messaging when you click on an email link from there, and it therefore does not work, it says "Email account hasn't been set up yet".
Also, the nokia search does not work correctly if I use nokia messaging results, because it is not set up. This is very annoying because nokia search is great and I would like to use it to seach emails in my folders. If I don't look at search results from NM I can see results from messages (sms) and from Notes, but as soon as I try to look inside the NM results, immediately the Notes and sms messages results became blank.
Another irritating think about nokia email is that it gets all the email messages from IMAP servers, including those that have been marked for deletion or moved to a junk folder. There should be an option to ignore those.
