WIFI problem on Treo Pro

I have a Treo Pro without the data plan on At&t.  I have been able to use the internet fine using wifi connections.  I noticed today that At&t has been charging me for data I have been using.  I must have accidently been using their data plan also so I put a block on data on the phone.  Now I can't access the interent when I am connected to wifi.  I am connected to an open network, but when I open the interent I get the message, "The pate cannot be found.  Check the name and try again"
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Thanks, but when I asked the question I didn't setup a dual boot, I only could start on arch.
I've found where the problem is. Fortunately it's not a hardware issue, it's a issue with NetworkManager. Disabling network manager and replacing it with netcfg solved the problem. Now I have to investigate why network manager is faulty in the machine (not only on arch, it randomly failed on ubuntu 14.04; maybe it's a driver problem as you suggest). Nevermind, as this issue is not related with the hardware this post has nosense in this subforum. I'll mark it as 'solved'

Can the wifi be disabled on the Palm Treo Pro?  To clarify I mean can it be shut of permanently so my son can't access it late at night.  I know it can be shut off but not how it can be disabled permanently. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

I know of no function on the Pro that can help you, but many routers have scheduling built into them.  You can limit access to certain IP or MAC addresses to whatever times you choose.

  • IdeaCentre Q190 Wifi problem, Win 7 Pro 32, 64b

I bought a couple of Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 and all have a problem with Wifi.
The operating system is Windows 7 Professional SP1 32b and 64b.
    I downloaded the official drivers Realtek 8188EE Wifi for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Version: 2007.2.0720.2012.
The installation went well, the computer is "hooked" on a wireless network, but it is not possible to open any web page. Various things I've tried (I do not even know what I tried everything) and some up and running and some not.
Another situation is to work on a Wifi router when it is moved to a different location with different wifi router, then again will not work.
Install any USB Wifi and it works perfectly.
So far I have installed several thousand machines and never had a situation like this.

    hi MarkoG,
    Welcome to the Forums.
    Can you try to:
    1. Install version 2010.9.0906.2013 from station drivers:
    2. When done updating the drivers, open the wireless card properties under Device Manager > Network Adapters > Advanced Tab and set the following :
    Roaming Aggressiveness = High
    Transmit Power = Maximum
    Source driver
    Hope this helps

  • Random wifi problems on macbook pro

Hi, I have a macbook pro currently running snow leopard 10.6.4. Most of the time I am able to establish a good fast connection through my wireless network but at least once a day it stops working and I cannot connect. Resetting the router sometimes helps but not always. I have also tried the airport diagnostics, which also sometimes helps. There is no clear cause or repeatable solution to this that I have found - it seems completely random. I probably spend 5 - 10 minutes every day trying to connect. I had the same problem using Tiger, and it also happens on other wireless networks. I am thinking it is something in my computer, not the network but I don't know how to proceed.

I read a post that found their mac was overheating causing this problem. There is software called Temperature Monitor you can get to watch your temps and see if there is a correlation to the Airport shutting down.

hello. I have a 30 days old treo pro and everything works fine except that i cant browse or signin on MSN using wifi. It would give me an error saying that it cant detect any connection. Initially it would look for the GPRS and 3G connection, then would tell me that it theres no internet connection.

I have a treo pro as well.  Tried using hospital wifi where I work.  Indicates...searching..available...connecting....connected....then to the login and accept page.  Touch accept then  .....error message   405 method not allowed.
3G internet works great on the phone.  Haven't tried other hotspots yet.  Although the laptop that I use at work logs into the wifi at our hospital just fine.  Very strong signal strength.  My phone also indicates very strong signal strength as well.  Called our hospital ISD and they told me they'd had some problems with I-phones not working.  Acted like he didn't even know what a treo pro was, so not much help.
Any suggestions on different setting etc?  Don't know much about WEP, WAP...whatever all that stuff is.  Just found it clicking on this that and the other in the phone to see if I could get it working.
    Thank you

  • Strange wifi problem on a brand-new MacBook Pro

Hey there, I'm new here. Desperation has got the better of me, and I hope I can get some advice.
So, last sunday I bought a brand new 13" MacBookPro with 2.8g i7 processor and 10.7.2 OS (I can't update to 10.7.4 because System Update tells me the download has been tampered with or corrupted after I waited 2 hours for it to finish, but I'm trying a direct download from the website). Here's the exact product: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MD314LL-13-3-Inch-VERSION/dp/B005CWIZ4O/ref= sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1340301247&sr=8-5&keywords=macbook+pro+13
Everything is all perfect except for a strange wifi problem. Note that the wifi does not turn-on or off, it doesn't disconnect after 'sleep', it doesn't get less speed, it doesn't constantly leave a preferred connection (once I chose my home wifi it always connects to it no problem). The wifi bar is always full. What is wrong is that the internet is kinda 'glitchy'. The best metaphor I can think of is that it's like a car that has to be pushed down the road before the engine can start. Please, bear with me because this is kinda hard to explain and I'm not good at tech lingos.
One of the symptoms is browsing can get really slow and inconsistent, almost as if the wifi gets turned off in the middle of browsing. For example: if I look something up on Google and then open 5 new tabs, probably only 2 or 3 of those tabs will eventually load while the other two will not get past the long 'http:.......google.....etc etc' address and will eventually show one of those 'error loading page because there's no Internet connection' notice. This happens a lot. Sometimes I have to refresh/retry loading a page a couple of times before it finally loads, then usually everything will get back to normal and I will be able to open multiple tabs with no problem, but in a couple of minutes I would try to open another site and the problem will start again.
So I tried to see how it does with downloading using iGetter. Fortunately I also have a Macbook (white-plastic casing one) and my brother has an old 2006 MacbookPro so I can compare. With those two older Apples iGetter starts receiving data in less than 8 seconds after I click Start, while my brand-new Macbook Pro can take up to 15-20 seconds, sometimes it doesn't even start at all and I have to re-click the start button. But once the download actually starts (on my new MacBook Pro), it downloads like normal, it doesn't stop and the speed is also as good as I can get. Strange huh? Hence, like a car that has to be pushed before the engine starts.
I also tried 'speed testing' from a website with all 3 laptops. On my old MacBook and my brother's MacBook pro, once I click 'begin test' it takes only a couple of seconds of 'ping' before the download/upload speed measurements start, but with my new MacBook Pro (just like with iGetter) it takes up to almost a minute before the measurements start, sometimes it won't start at all and I have to re-start the test.
Well, thanks for reading. And hope you can help me shed some light into this. Because it is really preventing me from really enjoying my new MacBook Pro. And if this is most likely a hardware problem, I'd better get back to the store and try to get it replace or something while it's only been 5 days. *cheers*

Hey guys.. Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I bought the MacBook in Indonesia where there are no such thing as an AppleCare. The only option is to leave the Apple product to one of the 'Authorized Apple care centre' and have whoever do whatever to it without guarantee of success. As for returning it and getting a brand new one, I also don't know if there is such a deal here, but that's actually a good idea, will try to go to the store tomorrow. Although, I'm worried that the problem might be with OSX Lion or something and getting a new one won't help.
mark75090, I've tried resetting the router when I first noticed te problem, didn't work though. I've checked my new MacBook's wi-fi (option+click wifi bar) and it says 'PHY Mode: 802.11g', so does my MacBook and the old MacBook Pro. I don't know what those mean though, and I don't know whether or not my router is an N., can you tell me more please.. I have tried with the other two turned off, and only the new MacBook using the wi-fi but the problem persists. I have also tried connecting directly to the router, but as I described, the problem is too subtle for me to notice the difference.
Also, if I create a brand new Wi-Fi connection in network preferences and connect to my router through the new Wi-Fi profile, the problem seems to be gone for an hour or so, then it always comes back though. I have also just finally installed 10.7.4, but it doesn't help either.

  • Macbook pro 15 inch wifi problem (late 2011)

    Hello,
Here I write a little desperate with this problem that I have on the MacBook Pro (late 2011) with WIFI .
For several months ago, when I power on the MBP is all apparently normal , spend a few minutes and I lose the WIFI , the icon still comes out as "connected " but no WIRELESS signal , I turned off the WIFI, but, when I try to change back to turn ON, the icon of WIFI still OFF ( the inverted triangle ) . Restarting the MBP and still the problem no signal and appears as disabled , delete PRAM several times until finally everything works again , spend some time and again the same thing sometimes is fine for several hours, go out to eat and return and again the same thing, the worst was when I saw the message "Hardware not found" and "X " where the icon goes WIFI . I rebooted several times and not managed , this was the "hardware not found" message. Some time ago I went something like , when Lion had and read that resetting the PRAM and managed , never came out , but now even that it manages , and it is becoming more common , I thought it was the OS ( MacOSX Mavericks ) so I reinstalled (I'm not used Time Machine, I install all again ), this work the lasted several days without fail, until she passed again, I'm out of WiFi, when I see no WIFI signal in the list , restart me WIFI goes off and I can not change , restart it goes back to " hardware not found" and so on.
Now desperate for this, I opened the MBP , disconnected the cables from the Airport card and reconnected with care and making sure you are all well , turned on the MBP again and works!!, I lasted two weeks , then I thought it was that. But again the whole problem again.
Already investigating more online and I found some details from other users
1 / Both WIFI and Bluetooth are on the same card ( the q disconnected and reconnected )
2 / If the card was wrong , losing the WIFI Bluetooth should lose , but I tried Bluetooth and has no problems
3 / Reported that resetting PRAM or SMC but still, in my case, does not work.
Now all I have left to rule is the WIFI antenna that is located ( if I remember correctly ) for the bottom of the screen, and according to several users this tends to fail from constant use to close or open the MBP (or either to cover or uncover ) , and sometimes it just heats and heats close to this area .
Has anyone had a similar problem? My MBP turns 2 only on March 7, 2014 , I can not believe all that cost me and now is about to fail , I have a Sony VAIO Core 2 Duo for about 5 years (or more) ago and is still running and has been dropped many times and nothing has ever happened : (
Additional data on my MBP ,
Several months ago ( long before the problem with the WIFI) I changed the hard drive for an SSD ( 250GB Corsair Neutron X ) .
There is a problem that often makes me too, is that when you close the MBP ( to open ) , and open it back again ( out of sleep) the following happens :
1 / It instantly freezes when waking from sleep and I have a long wait to enter the password.
2 / When you leave idle normal let me put the password, but just when giving ENTER freezes
3 / Out of sleep, let me put the key, ENTER and when I load the desktop freezes
    Another problem :
This only happened to me a few times , as I mentioned , my MBP is formatted ( have Mavericks ) before formatted (clean install without time machine) , I closed the MBP ( I sent to sleep) and the open the screen was black , but as with bright, and not leave the state, turned off force ( pressing the button) , start the MBP again (power on) charged normal gray screen with apple but with a fairly low brightness, spent a few seconds and turned the brightness to normal and started normally .
I hope some can help me with these problems.
PD : I'm from Peru , if anyone knows a trusted service that please let me know .
    Thank you very much .

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

or some mistake I am making?
You are using an image processing program to edit video. Seriously, use Premiere Pro or any other proper editing tool, if sound is critical and you are working with video that long. All PS is meant to do is edit short DSLR clips, nothing more. Yes, it's some sort of bug/ limitation - you're simply running out of memory somewhere.

  • Help with puzzling wifi range problem on Macbook Pro

    Hi There,
I am experiencing wifi range problems with my MacBook Pro (10.9.4).
Our wireless modem (Arris DG860) is located in the office, in the center of our home. The wifi bars register full on my Macbook and the internet works well in office.
When I move my Macbook to the lounge room, 6 steps away, my internet stops working despite wifi bars remaining full. We also have an Apple TV in the lounge room (I have airplay disconnected on Macbook). 15% of the time, I can somehow get the internet to work in the lounge room (sometimes just by disconnecting airplay),then it mysteriously stops- with wifi bars remaining full.
85% of time, the internet doesn't work at all in lounge room (still full wifi bars). Other rooms of the house that are similar distances away from modem experience the same problem. We did not experience this problem with our old Macbook pro (purchased in '09). With our old Mac we had same internet connection, modem and Apple TV.
The only place our current Macbook receives good internet connection is in the office.
We also have an iPad and two iPhone 4S'
    Any suggestions anyone? TIA

Most people who live in neighborhoods or apartments are not blessed with so few WiFi transmitters to contend with. There are no clear channels for most people, even assuming the user knows how to optimize their router, which most people don’t.
I would also explain that I am FCC licensed amateur radio operator K5ZN extra class. I know how radios work and how electromagnetic waves behave. Every diagnostic and symptom tells me there is some incompatibility between my MBPs radio and specifically the Comcast modem-router. In another discussion I gave some technical information about the problem which I spent several day diagnosing while using two different Comcast "Docsis 3" routers.
I have not seen this WiFi problem when using Airport or other standard routers like Linksys or Netgear. The OP didn’t say what router they are using. My suspicions tell me that Apple is moving in the direction of a very sensitive power-saving radio while ISPs are trying to blast the neighborhoods with powerful WiFi. The result is that my poor Macbook can’t get a good signal.

Goodness.......why can't Apple do things right anymore.  Oh I forgot they sell iPhones instead of computers.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Telstra Palm Treo Pro & Whereis Navigator problem

Hi, hoping this might save some time for other Telstra users subscribing to Whereis Navigator to take advantage of the GPS capability of the Palm Treo Pro.
The problem: when trying to open Whereis Navigator there was intermittant account (you subscribe to Telstra for this service) authorisation problems. The error message was along the lines (can't recall verbatim), "can't verify account authorisation, please try again later".The solution: On treo, open internet explorer, go to wap.telstra.comthen to 'my account', then 'Locational preferences', then 'my location settings', then tick 'allow me to be located' and 'allow a GPS location'. After this was done, no more problems.

Further update on above posts from problems during WhereisNavigator critical updates.
    This from garmin/Telstra;
"Please have the customer try the following:  ·
Open Internet Explorer on their device.·
Go to settings and clear the browser cache (not having the device in front of me at the moment, I can’t give more specific directions)·         Re-start Whereis Navigator and click View Details·
Click the download link If this still fails, a secondary solution is to have the customer enter the following URL directly in to their browser:  http://offboardnav.whereis.com  This will take them to the same download site, but will remove the extra step of opening the application.  "
Once I cleared the browser cache, the critical update install from the 'view details' prompt of the update within WhereisNavigator worked fine. Note on this occasion it didn't work (as it has with previous critical update istall problems) to navigate to the URL  http://offboardnav.whereis.com  and install directly.

  • Treo pro 850T - GPS problem

I have palm treo pro, subscriber of Starhub (Singapore), and am using it for more than 6 months already. When I started using, the GPS was working fine. It took few days to get fixed. Then, I used Nevfone navigator. After that, I get familiar with Singapore roads and don't use GPS for a few months. One fine day, I tested GPS again and satellites don't get fixed. It's not really dead, saw one or 2 sats. but it never get fixed even leave it out in the clear sky for quite substantial period of time. Then, I did hard reset, started from beginning. No use! So, I called Palm and finally got refurbished replacement. Surprisingly, the GPS on replacement doesn't work, too! I tested all on factory setting with google map. No third party application, no tweak, nothing at all. several hard resets. Now, I called again to Palm but I faced routine check this and check that which I've done everything. I understand that 2 phones (units) will happen same problem but I am now really experiencing.
Have you encounter such problem before? Please share some tips that it would turn my phone to work GPS like magic... thanks!

Somewhat similar, but since we switched to this pro, the set up seemed much better. Like, the htc program to turn off programs from the start page so the memory doesn't t get bogged down.  This is a real nice phone, but this exchange sync problem is a real pain. When it works ok, the battery lasts all day even with bluetooth, talking , using direct push as messages are received, etc. But,once sync goes haywire, no good.  I would like to know if it is a parameter at the server that the phone, sprint system, doesn't like to see. Or, something in win mobile.  Someone from Palm did say something about no end point being set to only allow the calendar to check back the two weeks as is set in the parameter.  He said something like to have the data from the server removed, saved somewhere, try to re sync, then add the data back to the server.  I just don't understand that process, and we only sync over the air, and don' t want to lose any calendar data.  The old treo 800 is gone, but I would really like to keep this pro, so thanks for any help understanding my plight.
