  • My iPhone six with iOS 8.1.1 will not allow me to upload credit card data to Apple pay

My iPhone six with iOS 8.1.1 will not allow me to add credit card data to Apple pay. It does not recognize my credit card in iTunes. I have I have set location to the United States, and restarted. Still nothing. When I enter the passbook app, hit the plus button, select set up Apple pay, select add new credit card,I get no response when trying to add credit card number expiration date etc., nor does the camera feature work. Bottom line is to date, I cannot add any credit card data at all.

I am guessing there is something about your situation that occurred outside the U.S.  Perhaps you purchased your iPhone outside the U.S., or live outside the U.S., ...
At the moment, Apple Pay only works in the U.S.

  • I accidentally turned off wifi and ran some videos overnight on my mobile and used all of my data allowance on day 3 of the month. I screwed up... I acknowledge that... do I bump my plan up 1gb at a time or wait to the end of the month to adjust the bill.

I just need to know my best options to control the amount I pay in overages since I messed up. Been with Verizon for at least 15 years and I haven't really had this come up before. Not sure how I messed up this bad this time

Personally, I would wait until ~5-7 days before the end of your billing cycle to make the adjustment RETROACTIVE to the beginning of your current billing cycle. That way you can add what you need with a bit extra for the last 5 days. Of course you would want to make another adjustment on the last day of your billing cycle to drop your data allowance back to normal, only have that adjustment made effective on the 1st day of your NEXT billing cycle. You don't want to have to pay for the extra data NEXT month.

You said:  "I've never tried the restore function in disk utility. Would that be the same as cloning the drive?
YES!  See the my old instructions below.  What you might try after step 5 is to restart you MBP holding down the Option key.  Select the new HDD icon and see if it boots.  This way you will know that the new HDD is operable.
    Ciao.
INSTALLING A NEW HDD IN A MB
    1. Make certain that you have backed up all of your important data.
    2. You will need a HDD enclosure.  One with a USB connection will do.  A 9 pin Firewire is better.
    3. Install your new drive in the enclosure and connect it to your MBP.
    4. Open DISK UTILITY>ERASE.  From the left hand column drag the new drive into the 'Name' field.  Make sure that the format is 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'.  Click on the 'Erase' button.
    5. Click on the 'Restore' button (on top).  Drag the old drive into the 'Source' field and the new drive into the 'Destination'  field.  Click on the 'Restore' button on the bottom right hand corner.
Depending upon the amount of data you are transferring, this may take a couple hours or more.  A Firewire will speed up the transfer.  This will result in both drives having identical information on them.
    6. After the data transfer has completed, you may swap the drives.  Start the MBP and you have finished the installation.  The initial boot may take a bit longer than you are accustomed to, but that is normal.
    7. When you are satisfied that the new hard drive if functioning properly, you can erase the old drive and use it for any needs that you may have.

  • How can I stop music and movies from being automatically deleted from my phone and saved on the cloud? I've just tried to watch a movie on my 2 hour commute, but yet AGAIN it has been removed. I do NOT want to spank all of my data allowance

How can I stop music and movies from being automatically deleted from my phone and saved on the cloud? I've just tried to watch a movie on my 2 hour commute, but yet AGAIN it has been removed. I do NOT want to spank all of my data allowance downloading it again, especially because (believe it or not) I added it to my phone because that's precisely where I wanted it!! Any help much appreciated

FYI I had to put this link into firefox to reply - because **** back safari just wouldn't register my clicks to any of the links on the post... Despite reloadeing and even restarting my computer. Totally annoying and a massive pain in the ***.
But in terms of my initial query; thanks for responding. But no, this is NOT the cause of the problem. I have auto sync and sync over wifi activated, but have also selected manually manage music and videos. Plus, all of my music and videos are on my macbook, absolutely all of it, so if it my phone was syncing with my macbook everything would still be on the phone. Life would be peachy if my phone jsut copied everything that was on my macbook, but unfortuantely it keeps deleting tracks for no apparent reason.
Any thoughts greatly welcomed, because at the moment i can only conclude that my iphone is crap.

  • I have an old Mac Tower.  I need to move data from the unit to an external hard drive. What kind of hard drive do I purchase.  There is not a lot of data to be transferred.

I have an old Mac Tower.  I need to move data from the unit to an external hard drive.  What kind of of hard drive must I purchase so that it works with the Tower?  There is not a lot to transfer.

    MG,
What we might need to do is to change the question.  What computer do you plan to use the data on in the future?  For example, if you have a newer tower, just move the hard drive to the new tower.  If you want to use the data, what about an ethernet LAN to get the data over?  If you want to archive the data, how do you store the second drive?  What are your plans for the first drive?  If the new software will not recognize the old file type, the data must be exported.  Just getting files to another hard drive will not finish your journey.
As Allan said, knowing the exact model and year of your tower is important.  My suggestion is to find a user group near you.  Please post back with more information, including the name of a large city near you.
For example, our user group just experimented with a 1983 Apple IIc that predates the Mac.  It started right up, read files from 1984  and saved them from a 5.25" floppy to a 3.5" floppy.  That 3.5 floppy will go into a platinum G3 which will read PRODOS files using Apple File Exchange.  That G3, with a USB card, will allow saving the files to a USB flash drive.  But, somewhere along the way, some software has to read the file and convert it to data that is useable by current software.

  • Why has my iPad 2 suddenly started to use all my data allowance in one night?

My ipad 2 used up my January 1gb data allowance in one night while I slept and my ipad wasn't being used. When I contacted my provider as a gesture of goodwill reinstated my 1gb.  I was extremely careful with my usage.  I only surfed the net using my Cellular Data and used a WiFi connection for any downloads.  I had used about 450mb up until the 21st of this month and then suddenly I had completely used the rest of my allowance in one day.  I do not watch you tube, Facebook, Twitter or use any social media.  Very frustrating as the previous 8mths of using my ipad I had never gone over my data allowance.  It seems to have started when I have been using WiFi in one location and then back to Cellular at home.  I am fortunate that my provider slows the connection and makes it impossible to use, therefore I don't get charged extra fees.

The iPad always uses wifi first when available. If not available, it switches to cellular, if cellular is turned On. You must be losing wifi connection. To keep from using your data plan, turn cellular Off, except when you need it.
     Cheers, Tom

  • 2g data allowance in single line plan is only for 4g LTE or for all data using?

I got a single line plan and an iPhone 5s a couple days ago.  I am confused the data allowance is for 4g LTE only or for all data using?  Thank you!

        Hello edsun1997
I would love to answer this for you. You have 2 GB's to use on our network this will start over at the beginning of your cycle. If you use Wifi and turn off our network, Wifi would not go against that 2 GB bucket.

  • Where can I check how I've used my data allowance in a day

Hi. Is there any way I can check what I've used my mobile data allowance on? I dropped 50 mb the other day and I really can't understand how. It leaves me only 5 MB daily til the next start date.
I don't really want to be hanging on a line for ages, ringing the company, if I can help it.
    Thank you.

: Your mobile should have a record of Data Usage per app under its Settings. Restrict Background data for all but your important apps and only Update Software over WiFi. What mobile do you have?

  • P2 card data from panasonic HVX 200

I have P2 card data [partitions] on an external HDD, formatted specifically to receive data from the Panasonic. I need to move/copy that data on to my internal HDD Mac Pro.
When transferring this kind of P2 data to a drive it will wipe out any previous data on the drive...this is when one runs a 1934 cable direct from camera to external HDD.
Now that the files are in the ext drive, I just don't know if they will corrupt any other HDD I copy them to.
Panasonic are unavailable by phone and I have read all the manuals!!!!!
Please can anyone give some input.
    Thanks
    catherine

Sounds like you either have a P2 Store, or you are using a P2 Gear with external drive attached where it paritions as it goes along. So that initial behaviour is normal. BUT...how moving those corrupts OTHER drives...makes no sense. Just copy them off into individual folders (All named different, like date and card, 092509_01, _02, _03...

  • Transfer data allowance from one phone to another?

Hi Guys, This is my first post (ever). I've just recently switched to a Telstra Plan and I've run into my 1GB data usage limit. Which is fair enough. However one of my collegues has a 20GB data usage limit that he never comes close to fully using. Is there any way currently (or could there be in the future) where he could transfer some of his allowance to my phone? I've seen the thread regarding adding shared data to consumer plans - and I think that's great and definately a step in the right direction. Actually, seeing how people have acted on that has encouraged me to post this (and hopefully I can get a similar result). I know people transfer credit between phones - so why not data allowance? Thanks in Advance!

See that's no help at all - and feels like you're delibertly avoiding my point and misdirecting me (with a smile) down a path I want to avoid. Its actually not very helpful to simply sound helpful and avoid the issue. Personally, I'd prefer a straight "No, thats not possible." with possibly "Here's why its not possible.". That has more honesty and integrity. I do appreciate you taking the time to reply - but an answer like that is wasting both of our time. I suspect you'd agree privately. Now, I'm trying to be helpful and give you feedback (on my own time) about features I would like to have - and given that there's been almost 10k views on the orginal email - I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that your other customers might be interested in this feature too. I don't want a datapack. Between myself and my wife, we're already paying for 7gb of data. I just want to pool that allowance between us. Sounds reasonable, doesn't it? Now you can tell me No (which is fine). Maybe you can tell me why (which would be great). You could tell me you're taking it seriously and working on bringing it to market (which would be fantastic). But please don't tell me to spend more money on a datapack.

  • Support for WIFI microSD cards

Sorry if this was already asked and answered, but I was wondering if the Blackberry OS supported these new WIFI microSD cards which can be used to add WIFI access to devices that were originally not WIFI enabled.
    Thanks,

Got a link to the ones which you refer?
I know there was one accounced about six months ago which I read would work in the BlackBerry.

  • IOS 5 will surely use more data allowance?

I'm concerned with IOS 5 and iCloud. Will all the updating and syncing come out if the monthly data allowance?

Since it's still in beta and anyone who truly knows is under NDA and can't discuss it, we can't really know until Apple releases more details.
However... I don't think it's fair to assume data usage will automatically increase under iOS 5, especially based on what we do know.
For example, in the pieces already implemented on the current version, you can set books, music and apps to automatically download when you download them on another device. There is a toggle, which is disabled by default, to allow this to happen over 3G. The default is to only do this while connected to WiFi.
I think it's fair to say that Apple is going out of their way to make sure this doesn't blow up in anyones face, especially given the low data caps that many of us have.
I have a 200MB cap on my AT&T plan and I rarely exceed about 120-150 a month because I'm almost always in range of WiFi.
