Wifi Security Disabled

Hello everyone,
I just have a quick question. I am in the possesion of  a Linksys Wireless N Broadband Router (WRT160 N V3)
And according to the Wireless security tab the security is disabled. However in Windows this isn't the case.
In Windows the wireless access point is secured (WPA2-Personal, AES) and I'm obliged to use a password
everytime I want to connect to this access point, a key which was generated during the setup of this router.
Can someone explain to me why in the router settings the wifi appears to be disabled?
Thanks in advance,
LTVX

I would suggest you to try upgrading the Router’s firmware. Here is the link for upgrading the firmware of the Router: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=a68b3a0c05f441f290600a2054f81e29_4272.xml&pid=80&r... . After upgrading the Router’s firmware, reset the Router. Steps to reset the router:
Push the reset button on Router for 30 seconds, turn off the Router wait for 30 seconds and then power it on. Power light should blink when you perform the reset process.
Power cycle it and re-configure the router from scratch. Then check the connectivity status.

  • Bug/vulnerability in wifi security settings

Hi there. I have an iPhone 4S. On about 21 January it was suddenly unable to connect to a WiFi access point at work to which it had always been able to do. So I tried to connect it to my personal WiFi access point which I always carry and to which I have been able to do since I set it up lst year. This also failed along with my connecting to my WiFi access point at home. I then read about Apple iPhone 4S WiFi issues (some prevailing since last year in September). I then disabled security on both my personal and home WiFi access points and my iPhone was able to connect. What seems strange is that an iPhone does not have an option to setup WEP, WPA, WPA-PSK or any other WiFi security option.
Is anyone aware of iPhones WiFi security bugs which seem to exist currently. Resetting the network settings has not helped. My iOS is at version 6.0.1 and is up to date according to my iPhone.
So is Apple going to release a patch to this WiFi security issue?

    Hi there
I'm wondering if the following is happening to you.
When in Acrobat, you are viewing the document differently and able to make edits. When you are opening the PDF from RoboHelp (or more accurately, the browser) you are presenting it from the PDF reader and not Acrobat. Thus you have different capabiities.
    Cheers... Rick

  • IOS 6.1.3 WIFI button disable problem on iPhone4S - It is definitely a BUG

    Hi Apple Fans
I have a full house of Apple products from iPhone -> iPAD -> iPod -> Mac -> AirPort, and I am suffering from WIFI button disable problem after upgrade to iOS 6.1.3, without any clue after calling Apple Support, factory reset and reload iPhone for more than 10 times.  I also try all tips on Apple Support Communicties except put it into a freezer, still no any luck.  Apple Support suggests that my iPhone may be factly!
Tonight, I can get my WIFI back in below sequence:
    1. Switch to English language from Chinese
    2. Turn Cellular Data Option to off
    3. Reset Network Setting
After the phone reset, the WIFI row show 'Not Connected', and I can select my home WIFI (Airport Express) without trouble.  To prove my finding is workable to all case, can you try the same and update here if it works for you?
    Good Luck!
PS: I always believe it is a BUG.

    Hi,
I sympathise with you as my iPhone 4s is 7 months old and is also greyed out.  I tried everthing except the potentially stupid one of putting the iphone in a freezer!  I took the phone back to the vendor who sent it away and repaired it.  But alas after a month it is greyed out again.  I have again returned to the vendor and he will repair it again.  I asked him how and he told me it is a software conflict and he has to spend around 9 hours downloading a patch repair.  Apple are aware of this issue and I feel completely let down because they have not posted a fix on the net.  Presently I am living and working in Dubai, back in the UK I am sure my iPhone would have been exchanged for a new one.  I need my iPhone for my work and cannot afford to just buy a new one so I have been let down and despite for years being a supporter of Apple and their products I shall think twice before investing in any more Apple products.

  • WIFI Security Camera's that can be monitored from my Macbook and iPhone4

I'm looking to purchase wifi security cameras that I can monitor from my Macbook and iPhone4. Can anybody tell me what the best camera is and what App. is the best to monitor from my iPhone4. Also, how would I set up my Macbook for monitoring. I'm new at this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

You usually don't need an app or any software loaded on the phone/computer you are using to view the feed from IP cameras. You go to a web-site set up by the manufacturer, enter your user name and password and you see the picture through the web-browser.
However, check that the system you buy does not use Flash to send the pictures otherwise you won't be able to view them from an iPhone or iPad (but it will be fine on your MacBook).

  • Making my G4 Mini wifi-secure?

I have a couple of G4 Mac Minis each equipped BTO with Airport Extreme.
I'm soon going to be in a keyed wifi environment and I need to learn how to do what folks have recommended I do:
encrypt everything, use ssh, sfpt, ssl, and set up a VPN.
I barely understand what those all are, let alone know how to actually DO them...is there a spot online where I can get instruction or a tutorial on this?
Maybe I'll need some information from this wifi administrator to fully complete the set up, but I need to get crackin on the ABC's of settin 'er up so that I can be secure in my wifi security.
thanks for any links, tips, or pointers!

Securing your mail, unless you are running your own server, is totally dependent on your email provider. For example, if your email provider has you enable SSL on your smtp and imap/pop, you're encrypted. A university that I used to attend was a bit more draconian than that. They didn't let you send mail through their server unless you were on their subnet. So at home I couldn't send it the usual way. But since the university supplied a (secure) shell account, I could tunnel smtp through ssh and login via ssh to my university shell account and then launch Mail and send email via their server via my tunneled ssh connection.
If you have a shell account anywhere that provides you with sftp or ssh command line access, whether they allow access via password authentication or public key exchange is up to the entity maintaining the ssh server. You, as the client, authenticate however they say to authenticate.
Doing online banking over the web for example, is using SSL so even an open wireless access point is okay for that because the "https" is encrypting that between you and the bank.
Your work may require you to use VPN (and they would therefore provide you with the VPN client program and tell you all the necesary client configuration so that you could connect to your work's LAN). One might make the analogy that VPN is, more or less, a "Cadillac" version of a "Chevrolet" ssh tunnel.
If you are running the "server," e.g. at home so you can connect to your home machine from afar, then YOU make the rules, and set up passwordless key-exchange-only ssh, tunnel VNC and AFP through it, forward port 22 on your home router to your home computer, enable remote login on your home Mac so you can connect to it from afar via ssh, enable personal file sharing so the internal "localhost" ports on your computer can let you do AFP sorts of things, and similarly for VNC and other services. Important point, with tunneling services, yes, you have to open the appropriate ports for each of those services on the Mac's firewall, but only need to open the single port for ssh/sftp on your router, and the public key only authentication scheme keeps you extremely safe. If you are running your own mail server, where random smtpp servers are trying to deliver email to your server for your server to distribute to your server's multiple mail accounts, that gets a little trickier, but it doesn't sound like you are doing or wanting to do that. Like I said, most of my previous drivel was thinking that you were wanting to be the server, not just do client activities.
And this is all independent of the wireless encryption. Like I said, if you're setting up a home wireless router using wireless encryption, just use WPA2 or WPA with a strong password to keep the freeloaders and hackers from affiliating onto your residential LAN and using your broadband internet access or trying to snoop around on computers that are rightfully affiliated to your residential LAN. If you don't control the wireless access point, then the person that does will tell you the channel protection scheme involved, and what its password is. And this only provides protection from your wireless laptop to the wireless access point. After your traffic leaves the wireless access point and hits the internet, the ssh tunnel, or SSL-wrapper around your mail/web traffic, or the VPN, is what protects your traffic from internet evildoers.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    maybe this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

I would report him to the police.

  • Home Wifi suddenly disabled.  Can't enable.

Hi all.  This just happened yesterday. I have had no problem connecting to my home wi-fi since I got the phone in Nov 2012.
Then last night I noticed that my home network is disabled on the phone.  I can't find a place to 'enable' it.  I've re-put in the password, checked that it works with a laptop and it does.  'Forget it, then re-found it.  Re-started the phone a couple of times.   When I  click 'connect' it flashes the 'secured with  WPA/WPA2 PSk' then goes back to 'disabled'.  I’ve put wifi on and off several times.
I have changed nothing on my modem.
It is so frustrating.   Is there a place to ‘enable’ that I don’t see?
I don't know what else to do!

Hi, yes I have.  Still shows as 'disabled'. It is so odd, since it has been working just fine since I got it, last Nov.
And now I am in the office and it shows 'disabled' under all the ones I can access with or without passwords!
    What is going on!!!
Looks like I am not able to access any Wifi at all.  Of course wifi is turned on, but any connection is showing 'disabled.'.

  • When i updated my Iphone 4s to ios 7.0.2 suddenly wifi button disable after update and now its is now enabling. i have tried many times to restore, also tried with reset all setting from phone my whole date contents got erased but no solution over.

I need a solution over it. i have check on your cummunity people saying to keep the phone in refrigerator that will solve the WIFI problem. i hope apple are considering on the quwries of the people such a major case need to be sort out soon where all the data and contents are getting deleted from phone on the researt and also upgrading to the new IOS 7.0.2 or IOS 7.0.3 the WIFI buttopn is grayed (disabled). being on the global markets and such issues on upgrading then its better to be with the previos ios atleast it would work fine. even some times when i switch to HDR mode in cammera it crashes. some time it captures photo but when i try to view its total black dont even open on other phones or computers.
i kindly request you to go throuth the all the quesries and do revert on the same ASAP.

Apple guys are deleting posts. I have found my posts have been deleted. Apple should MUST let us downgrade at least to previous release from current which was working fine.

  • WiFi Security Option No Longer There in 1.0.1 Update??

Is the Security Option under the WiFi/Settings no longer there in 1.0.1 Update??
Without it there, it is no longer allowing me to get on 128BIT HEX WEP encrypted WiFi Networks.
    Thanks, Scott K.

No, it is no longer there...
But, I HAVE found a solution...
For a 128BIT HEX password, if you place a 0x before the password, it will then take.
I noticed these two characters before other 128BIT HEX passwords in the Keychain application on my MacBook, and tried it on the iPhone, and it works!!
    Thanks, Scott K.
