Wifi set up

I just got my new iphone. i wanted to know how i can set up the wifi? i'm not sure what numbers need to be plugged in. if anyone can help that would be great. Thanks!

If you are trying to connect to a closed (locked) wireless network, you will have to ask the owner of the network (presumably yourself) to configure the router's security software to accept your iPhone's Wi-Fi Address, which can be found on the iPhone under Settings/General/About/Wi-Fi Address (about half way down the list). It will be a series of 6 pairs of code separated by colons.

    Do you mean iTunes library?
iTunes account is what you use to make iTunes purcahses.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.
It says my phone can only be set up woth one itunes account. How do I remove the previous account?
No, it tells you it can only be sync'd with one iTunes library.
Simplest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (thisis the iTunes library) from old computer to new computer.

  • How can i get my wife set up in iTunes - Same computer

    Hi guys
I'm trying to figure out the best way to get my wife set up using her own iTunes accounts.
She has an iPhone and iPad but her laptop is pretty rubbish so i set up a user account on my MBA for her. I use iTunes match under my account, under hers she just has a conventional iTunes Apple ID. As soon as we sign in it warns us any downloaded past purchases will prevent the other Apple ID associated with that computer from working for 90 days. I've read about this and understand there is nothing we can do.
But can we still use her own iTunes? How about if we sign out of her Apple ID in her iTunes. If she syncs her devices can she get her music on that way without these 90 day warnings? Or will we have to transfer purchases again? Will she be able to import CD's and sync to her devices or do we face the same problem?
This is pretty frustrating and it ***** no being able to have her own iTunes account on my computer. If the above works with syncing from device to computer, can you purchase everything on her devices and transfer from them?
    Thanks.

I do have a seperate account for her on the OS - I still get the 1 Apple ID per device warning (we will lock you out for 90 days message).
We are in her own OS account in her own iTunes library. I wondered if i never sign in there, would we be able to manage her music on the same laptop i use for mine?
We will have to transfer purchases when syncing with her devices, but will this give us the same error about the 1 Apple ID per device?
If so that would be really bad, only way to do it is buy her a new laptop. Not good!

Absolutely sure.. There is no connection at all.. reset is only the router side of the TC.
For the hard disk to be erased you need to access the airport utility disk page.. request erase and confirm the operation.
    2) I can access to time capsule by ethernet but I am not able to input the corret setting by myself
    Thank you again
I am uncertain why if you have access you cannot change settings.. but that is why you reset things so any of those problems should be fixed.
Here is the Apple info on reset.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728
And here is the quote from the horse's mouth so to speak.
Factory default reset: Perform this reset if you wish to repurpose the AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule and want to remove all personal profiles and settings first. This reset resets the device to its state when you first purchased it. Data stored on internal or external hard drives connected to the device will not be erased. If you choose, you may manually erase the hard drive using AirPort Utility.

    Hi YKLeong,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you may have tried all the steps in the article below. If your wi-fi setting is still grayed out after trying the steps, the article suggests contacting Apple support for help with your iPhone hardware:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Ensure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTunes.
    Additional Information
If you are still unable to turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options.

having problem to enable my wifi setting from few days can any 1 help me???????????

Go to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. the connecto to iTunes and restore as a New phone. Do not restore any backup. If the problem persists you have a hardware problem. Take it to Apple for exchange.
This assumes that the phone is not hacked or jailbroken. If it is you will have to go elsewhere on the internet for help.

  • Wifi setting greyed out.

Sometimes my wifi stops working. Whenever this happens I can turn the setting on or off but nothing seems to work. I'm not getting a list of networks, nada.
When I reboot, the wifi setting becomes greyed out.
When I reset the network setting nothing changes.
Only after a given time (don't know exactly) the wifi starts working agian.
Am I correct to assume that my wifi chip dying?
The only thing I can think of is that it is temperature related.
That somehow the soldering of the chip has gone bad, perhaps because of overheating during recharging or something.
And that now whenever the temperature changes the soldering of the chip expands or shrinks making a bad connection.
    Cheers,
    K.

This is a well known issue of 4S users. Please look at "more like this" discussions. Wifi chip of iPhone 4S was working fine until iOS 6 was introduced. Ever since 4S users do have big problems with wifi chip, it simply brakes down. And there is no chance of going back to iOS 5. This probably wouldn't help anyway, since iOS 6 and iOS 7 broke the wifi chip. So the only solution I believe is to change the faulty chip onto a new one not coming from a batch of chips that were produced for iPhone 4S.
If you are in Europe then you should contact your phone provider.

  • I have a library set up for my i-pop touch, how can my wife set up her i-phone on the same pc?

I have a library set up for my i-pod touch, how can my wife set up her i-phone on the same PC but with a seperate library location?

You can sync multiple iPods and iOS devices with the same iTunes library on one computer. Each device has its own sync preferences with iTunes and iTunes creates and updates a separate backup for each device.
Under the same computer login account, you can have separate iTunes libraries which will require manually having to log in and out of each one with iTunes which isn't necessary.
If you want separate iTunes libraries for you and your wife, probably best to create a separate computer login account for your wife where her iTunes library is completely seperate along with the rest of her data on the computer.

  • Initial wifi set up

Just got a new TC. All apparently set up and working in minutes. I have a quick question re the wifi set up though.
When setting wifi up for the first time I selected it to replace an existing wifi network (Netgear), it all seems to have worked painlessly as all my devices needed no change, but am I getting the best out of my tc's wifi capabilities? Should I have created a new name for my TC wifi network or will it have made no difference?
Probably a rather dumb question but I'm musing the possibility that the new TC automatically used all the old wifi (netgear) settings thereby not offering me something new.
It all works. No issues just want to make sure I did the right thing by utilising the netgear (now powered off) network.

    No one?
I love the TC backup but if I'm honest I've seen little improvement in wifi performance.

  • How do i restore my wifi setting back to the factory settings? I have changed it somehow :/ and now my wifi will not connect. My Airport is on and showing full strength but will not connect.

How do i restore my wifi setting back to the factory settings? I have changed it somehow :/ and now my wifi will not connect. My Airport is on and showing full strength but will not connect.

Ok, if other devices are connecting but just not your MacBook then let's start troubleshooting the MacBook to possibly find out why.
Please try each of the following, in order, until hopefully resolved:
Note the following are excerpts from an OS X Daily article.
    * Turn Airport on & off – You can do this via the Airport menu bar or from the Network Preferences. This is the first thing you should try when troubleshooting Mac wireless problems.
    * Make sure Wireless/Airport card software & firmware is up to date – This is usually done just by going to the Software Update menu, if there are any updates available for your Mac or Airport, install them.
    * Delete and recreate connection – Try deleting and recreating/reestablishing the wireless connection, sometimes a setting can be corrupted and this may fix it.
    * Create a new Network Location – Similar to the above suggestion, try creating a new and different wireless network location to see if it resolves the connection problems.
    * Change DHCP auto settings to manual – sometimes there is a problem with the DHCP server, and if you manually set an IP address on the network you can be fine. Remember to set the IP to a high number so it wouldn’t interfere with other DHCP machines. As long as you have the subnet mask, router, and DNS settings configured manually as well, this shouldn’t be a problem.
    * Flush the DNS cache – Launch the Terminal and enter the following command onto one full line within the Terminal: dscacheutil -flushcache
    * Zap the PRAM – Reboot your Mac and hold Command+Option+P+R during restart until you hear another chime, let the Mac boot as usual.
    * Delete Wireless Config files – Delete com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist and com.apple.internetconfig.plist files from ~/Library/Preferences and reboot
    * Trash your home directories SystemConfiguration – Remove all files within ~/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and then reboot your Mac.
    * Reset your Mac’s System Management Controller (SMC) – For MacBook and MacBook Pro’s: Shutdown the MacBook/Pro, remove the battery, disconnect the power, hold the Power Key for 15 seconds. Replace the battery, reconnect power, and zap the PRAM and wait for 2 chimes before letting the keys go. Let boot as usual.
