WiFi settings problem

I was having trouble with my network/internet connection and made a big mistake.  On the settings page I said "forget this network" and thought I could rejoin my network after entering security info, etc.  No such luck.  Can I recover my network settings?

I suggest that you ignore your network in the list and use Other Network. It is a three step process.
First you type in the name of the network;
Next you select the type of security that your network uses;
Then you manually return to the the first page and type in the security password;
And finally you hit Join. The iPad and your router should do the rest and negotiate a connection.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app

        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
    You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps.   • No WIFI in Settings, Problems

    Hello,
    So I didn't use my WiFI on my Ipod Touch in a while and today I attempted to connect to my home network, which it usually does automatically, and nothing happened.
    Then I went in my settings and the WiFi settings were greyed out with and "No WiFi was displayed". Now I cant event search for networks near me or do anything WiFi related. I suppose my Ipod touch needs to be repaired and I also have questions about that.
    I bought my Ipod touch off ebay and I wanted to know if me going randomly in an Apple Store will get it fixed. I got no real proof of purchase, but if I enter my serial code on the Apple website, it tells me my warranty is up till November 20th, 2008.
    Any help is appreciated.

    No... It was connecting to networks fine before, now I cant even see the network searching panel.
    Basically I'm at the home menu, then i click on settings and the WiFi button at the top is completely grayed out (I should get a picture) and there is a "no wifi" written to the right. I can't click on it and go any further, cant manually input anything and it just happened randomly. I seriously think my WiFi is broke on the Ipod, I restored, reset all teh settings, and restarted it multiple times without luck.

    I’m having an email WiFi sending problem on my iPad 2     Model:  MC774C/A;  IOS VERSION: 6.1.3 (10B329). 
    While I use 4 email accounts on the iPad -- Hotmail, Gmail, iCloud and ns.sympatico.ca ( a division of BellAliant) – the sending difficulty only relates to the ns.sympatico.ca.  The settings for this account are:         pop.bellaliant.net            and      smtp.bellaliant.net
    I first noticed the problem about 3 weeks ago while travelling across the country (Canada).  (I do recall about that time there was an update of my IOS and I also for my wife purchased from the Bell store an iPhone which shares my Apple account.)  Prior to that everything worked well for a couple of years.
    I noticed earlier this month that the iPad received mail fine but would not send at night using the motels’ WiFi.  During the day, using my 3G account, all worked fine.  I phoned Bell but was told that my experience was normal so I thought no more about it until I returned home and found the same problem at the house.  I called Bell again and worked for 2 hours with 3 Bell technicians who succeeded in getting the iPad to neither send nor receive and gave up advising me to take the iPad into a Bell store to have it looked at.  I did that and the young technician got the iPad sending and receiving by changing the        smtp.bellaliant.net      to         mail.1xbell.ca
    However, when I returned home again, I realized that it was working on my 3G and still doesn’t send on my WiFi
    I’m looking for any suggestions that might solve this annoying problem?

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    I won't say that it's a proof for the iOS 6 WiFi/WLAN problem. BUT, it's evident that my iPhone 4 with iOS 5 sees all WLAN-networks and connects - my new iPad with iOS 6 doesn't! And I'm using the two devices in the same room. In addition my new iPad didn't have connection problems before updating to iOS 6.

  • IPad WiFi Connection Problems - WiFi Symbol Appears With Full Bars but I Don't Get A Checkmark?

    I was using the iPad one day and then all of a sudden it stopped connecting to the internet. The network at this hotel is very good and I've asked them about their router so it is not the router's problem.
    I go to the Settings and tap on Wi-Fi then I tap on the hotel network. After a few seconds, it says the network name beside the Wi-Fi tab and it gives me the WiFi symbol showing 3 bars. But then I never get the checkmark or tick saying everything is connected. I try going online and it says the iPad is not connected to the internet. I've tried an iPhone and it connected and got a checkmark in a few seconds. I've talked to the front desk and he took out his phone and showed me that he could connect, he even opened a page without any problems at all.
    I've been trying to find a solution for this for a long time. I've been searching Google over and over again. I turned Airplane Mode on for 1 minute, I've tried Resetting my Network settings, I've tried forgetting the network and reconnecting again, I've tried removing all restrictions from the iPad, I've rebooted the iPad A LOT, etc.
    So this is my problem for people who don't want to read the whole message:
    1. I can't connect to the internet with the iPad
    2. It shows the WiFi symbol saying its connected but I never get the checkmark or tick.
    3. It's not the router problem.
    4. I've tried other networks and it doesn't work. It just keeps on showing that loading circle right beside the network name.
    5. Do any of you know what this problem is? Or do you have a solution?

  • WRT110 WIFI password problem

    Hi Everyone,
    I've got a very strange problem.  First, I indicated WPA under Wireless Security section and typed in my passphrase.  However when connecting to my wireless network name my passphrase never worked.  Second, I completely disabled security and tried to simply connect without any passphrase, but I was still being asked for a passphrase nonetheless.  I checked and double-checked and saved settings making sure security was disabled, but I was still being asked for a passphrase when choosing my wireless network!
    I could probably restore my WRT110 to factory settings, however I don't want to loose other configurations like certain open ports and IP addresses I opened up for firewall.
    Is there a way for me to resolve my WiFI password problem without restoring to factory default?  I just need to figure out how to make the WiFi passpharse work.  Here's what I have there:
    Security Mode: WPA Personal
    Encryption: TKIP
    Passphrase: 0sunspot0
    Key Renewal: 3600 seconds
    However, when I pick my wireless network and try to connect to it by typing in 0sunspot0, I get authentication failure!
    Am I doing something wrong?

    my ipod will not connect to wifi. I go into wifi settings and it says its trying to connect with that little symbol next to the network name, but it wont actually connect. my computer and and laptop will connect but not my ipod. please help.

    Does the iPod connect to other networks?
    Did the iPod connect before?
    Try the following to rule out a software problem:                 
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

  • 6.1.2 and still wifi signal problem

    I bought iphone 5 yesterday in London.I update my iphone to 6.1.2 and i saw a problem.My wifi signal is too weak and its drops the connections few time later.I restore my phone but still same.What can i do for this problem.Is it a hardware problem ?

    I had problems with wifi in 6.1.2 on my 4S. Namely, I'd go to my general/wifi settings page and get to watch the checkmark cycle visible/invisible (wifi on/off) every few seconds. After a while it would apparently go permanently off for that connection. I scoured the net and found I should:
    Toggle WiFi off then back on.(on phone)
    Forget network for my home network and then log back in (on phone)
    Reset network settings (on phone)
    Reboot router
    And perhaps a few more. I tried them all with no positive results.
    I got frustrated and visited the local Apple store genius. She said I'd pretty much covered the whole enchalada and so it was time for the dreaded FULL RESTORE. God I hate that. I was hoping she could wave a magic apple over the phone and it would start to work or something.
    She asked about backups etc. so as to not totally ruin my life. I was good and told her it was ok to infantalize my phone. A few minutes later I was walking out of the store with a "brand new" phone. At least my phone was behaving that way.
    In a weird way this was a good experience. My phone was in such a state of new phoneitis that the only stuff on it was my cell data to let me make calls and get on line and a few things that I store in the cloud (I don't fully backup to the cloud, only contacts and my calendar). So I had lost all my apps, my nice directory structure, all my folders segregating my apps into neat categories etc.
    So, why a good experience? Well when I got home I first restored the backup, then restored the apps and media previously stored on the phone. I've never done this before and I was TOTALLY Delighted to see that the phone was basically indistinguishable from its state prior to the wipe. All the apps were back in their designated spots and all the useless Apple stuff had been moved to purgatory on the last screen. Why can we NOT put newsstand and such into a folder or better yet simply dump it from the phone? How lame is it that Apple is so un-confident they force us to stare at those Icons in the desparate hope we start to use stuff that some of us simply are not interested in? Anyway it was nice to get my phone back to its original state.
    Now the test, I turned on WiFi and selected my network, gave the wpa2 password and voila, the checkmark beside my home network started to blink again. Oh well, 2 to 3 hours of restoration was needed anyway but I was really hoping a fresh virgin install of the OS would have cured this problem.
    SOLUTION:
    You know, I'm fairly certain I didn't try much beyond toggling wifi on and off and doing the forget network thingies before I stumbled across a series of reports online about this problem that changing wifi network security from one type to another might do something good. So, I started with the most benign router network change, I simply changed my wifi wpa password on the router. I didn't even start with a switch from wps2 to wep or whatever else might be available as an alternate security protocol. Back to my phone and I tried to connect to wifi and entered the new password and I got access. I watched the checkmark beside my home network. No cycling on and off. I went to safari and visited a bunch of bookmarks. No starting and stopping the network connection. It appeared to have been healed. I went back into the router and reverted the password to the original.  I loaded up a couple of my security cams. Everything was working. I checked my "Nest" thermostats and they were working.
    So far it's been around 18 hours and things are still good with my 6.1.2 IOS iPhone. Hopefully they will stay that way.
    Although the iPhone is so locked down as to not really qualify in my mind as a true computer, it's important to remember all the disabling Apple does on the phones doesn't mean they aren't computers. Just that we can't use them that way most of the time. And with computers there are unending interactions between different services that are running in the background where we can't interact with them on the phone but are totally able to keep an eye on them on a true computer with full access by the user allowed. So... point is, it really is a computer hiding under the covers and  all kinds of stuff is happening in there. So, while one person may find a simple toggling of the wifi on and off will solve this problem others may have to do really strange things to get things working again. In my particular configuration I'm guessing that the install of the new OS somehow messed with the prefs file for wifi and perhaps did something funky to my wifi password. changing the router password and requiring me to thus create a brand new connection to it may have cleared up this problem. It's a good thing there wasn't something inherently wrong with my standard wpa password. I have BUNCHES of stuff running on wifi around the house and I seriously would hate to have to connect to everything besides the router and enter in new passwords.
    Anyway, so far for me, a happy ending. Luck to you all.

I connected the PC (Windows 7) to the printer by USB cable. In the HP Solutions Centre, when I click on Settings / Network Settings, it tries to open a browser (IE9) page, with the URL being the IP address (192.168.2.3), but it goes to the "cannot display" page. Do I need the HP software CD? (I think I've lost it.) The manual explains how to set up (using the CD), but I can't find how to change settings for a new router.

  • Will not allow me to select on under wifi settings

    My phone will not allow me to select on under wifi settings.  It appears faded as if it is not a possibility.  I have tried turning off phone and have tried re-setting network settings.

    If none of the tips in that article resolve the problem you have a hardware failure, probably of the radio chip. If you take it to an Apple store they will replace it if in warranty, or for $199 if out of warranty.

    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • TS1398 my wifi is showing connected but i am not getting internet access.  When  in the settings wifi settings  you can see the wheel or timer spinning but never a check mark like my other iPad.

    Some things to try first:

  • WiFi settings on iPad

    The settings page on my iPad says I am connected to WiFi but I am unable to access the internet wirelessly.  Can anyone tell me what my WIFI settings should look like as I think this may be the problem.
