WIFI Signal goes less than 10'

Laptop will drop signal before leaving the room. Same for my DROID RAZR.
Using DSL with a Westell 327W router and Windows Vista. Router and Toshiba Laptop are in the same 1st floor office.
Router is located on top shelf of computer desk adjacent to an inside (not outside) wall.
Cordless phone is in office but nothing changes when phone is unplugged
Signal strength goes between "good" and "fair".
Have tried changing Channels (11 does better than 1 or 6).
Does it make sense that (1) there is a router issue; (2) a poor DSL signal or (3) something else.
Thanks...

Could be various things. Possibly you have neighbors using the same frequency that you use and when they use the Internet you get interference. Many people leave routers set to default channels when they get them which ends up with everybody i a neighborhood using the same channel. For best results you should be set to either channel 1, 6 or 11 since the intermediate ones overlap.

I bought a new Iphone 5 Friday the battery goes flat in less than half a day also the wifi disconnects in less than 40 secs this is really frustrating I think I have a dud phone or is this the new IOS6.1 software update?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW device.  If you've been through ALL the steps listed and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • TS1398 Wifi network password less than 8 characters

In the past, I was able to connect to my kids schools wifi network with a password that was 6 characters long.  Since updating I am not able to use passwords that are less than 8.  Is there away around this?  I can connect with other non apple devices (school owned).

Try and reset your network settings by going to 'Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings'.
If you still have problems after this you may need to contact the schools IT administration.
    Hope this helps

  • Iphone 5 wifi connecting distance less than 3 meters

My iphone 5 has not been connecting password-protected wifi, also wifi in Macdonalds and starbucks. Finally I find problem: The distance, I put iphone 5 within 3 meters from router, it connect wifi well, but more than 3 meter, lost connection or internet not working.
I believe it's hardware problem, but apple store said it's not, it's the problem of router setting. My iphone 5 just two months, the reason I bought iphone 5 is the quality and easy to use, but it's wrong for iphone 5,

yukon what's ur Iphone 5 version?

  • IPad 2 WIFI signal going in and out.

I have the iPad2 16 gig white  (wifi only) and never had a problem with it.  One day I am using it and it starts dropping signal.  I am in another room from my router and I will have 2 out of 3 bars.  Then suddenly it drops to the dot, losing signal.  It will suddenly pop back to 2-3 bars only to lose it again.  While this is happening my laptop (macbook) and phone (iPhone4) are fine with full signal strength.
I have reset my router, restarted my iPad, reset/wiped my iPad clean, updated my iPad, turned the brightness up/down, turned off blue tooth, reset netowrk settings. I have changed my DNS to several different #'s.  This isn't just on my network, it is others as well. Nothing is working.
I will say when I am within 10 feet of the router it does not lose signal and is fine.  Only when I am in other rooms does it start acting funny.  My other divices are fine where my iPad is losing the signal. But before the issue the ipad was fine.  This is very frustrating.
My APPLE warranty is voided because I had the screen replaced.
    Any other suggestions?

    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

  • Iphone Wifi speeds are less than 3G speeds after setting up Airport Extreme

Hello everyone. I've been searching long and hard for an answer with no success. I'm hoping someone here can help me out. A few weeks ago I upgraded my speed on my ISP from 30Mbps down and 4Mbps Up to 50Mbps down and 8Mbps up. I used to have a WRT54G Linskys router which gave me great speeds on my ipads, iphone, Apple TV and both windows based computers. The other day I switched the Linskys out for an new AirPort Extreme. I Set it up and the speeds on all my devices were constant around 35 down and 8 up. I left the default settings on the AirPort Extreme. Then a few days ago I set up the security for my router, WPA2- Personal. Checked the speeds and my computers, ipads are running great but now my iphones are doing constantly for the last 3 days 1Mbps down and 8Mpbs up. So last night I tuned off my security and than the iphone was back to normal speeds. I'm pretty much confused now. Any ideas? Seems like the security setting are doing something here.

  • IMac will not load internnet sites despite it having all green lights on the Network Diagnostics screen.  In other words there is a valid internet signal going into the iMac, but the machine will not load sites. Help? iOS 10.9.5

iMac will not load internet sites, despite having all green lights (strong WiFi signal etc) on the Network Diagnostics screen. in other words there is a strong
internet wifi signal going into the iMac but the machine does not connect to the internet.  I OS 10.9.5.  Other devices work fine with the same internet signal.

    iOS 10.9.5 does not exist.
iOS refers to the operating system on iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch.
10.9.5 was never a version of a Classic operating system.
10.9.5 was a version of Mac OS X, and is 13 years newer than Classic.
Here are reasons for WiFi signal to fail even when they appear to be strong:
    Most common Wifi issues
Your Mac may be too close to your WiFi router, in which case, it might be better to connect to it via an ethernet cable if it can't be moved.

  • WiFi Signal after 2.1 Update

It appears that my iPhone’s WiFi reception has degraded a bit since the 2.1 update. I noticed in my house and at a Starbucks that my signal is less than what it was prior to the update. It still works but just showing less of a signal. Not much to go on, but I’m just curious if anyone else has noticed this.

My iPhone has always only shown 2 (out of 3) 'bars' of WiFi reception at home, even when I'm sitting right next to my WiFi router. However, speed has always been excellent. On other WiFi networks it frequently shows full WiFi 'bars' so the problem (if you can call it that) must be something to do with my router but since it's not affecting speed I can't really bothered to investigate further.

  • I got my iPhone 6 plus less than a week ago. Now it randomly goes from getting a good cell signal to telling me there is No SIM installed. Did I get a defective phone? I ordered straight from Verizon.

I got my iphone 6 plus less than a week ago. I ordered from Verizon. My phone is now randomly going from having a good cell signal to giving me a message No SIM. I was able to make calls, now when I get this message, I can't connect to cell service, which defeats the point of having a cell phone! The phone is brand new and has not been dropped, damaged, or otherwise mishandled. Did I get a defective phone or what?

Hi! I got in touch with AppleCare last evening finally. They helped me clear the data blockage or whatever. It sounds like this is an issue they are aware of, because they said the phone was not defective. However, it happened again today and it took several times of me doing the resetting of the network and hard staring the phone before the problem cleared. It is just frustrating because it is hard to go without cell service for long periods of time. And no, I have not done anything with the SIM card. I don't know what it is or how it would be accessed on an iPhone! This might be something Verizon wants to take a closer look at with Apple.
Thank you for the follow up. I will let you know if the problem continues.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • How to send a ttl signal with a good exactitude less than 10ms?

i have a pci 6013 (8 input channel) and pci 6711 (4 outpout channel). Then i need to send a ttl signal to a camera ccd to take a photo when a waveform sinus is equal at zero (rising), but when i send this TTl signal with dasylab using generator pulse or combi trigger and readind this signal, i have difference between dasylab pulse(that is exactly) and measurement pulse that is approximate 40ms after. But i need to have less than 10ms is it possible?
Frequence rate =1000hz and block size=512 the waveform sinus is 0.2Hz.i have already try to increase the sampling rate but nothing happens.Thank for your help.

    Yes, it's possible.
You just have to reduce your block size to 10 !

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
