Wifi signal lost after upgrading 3.1.3

hello everyone, i need a little help with my ipod touch 1g. Today i updating it to 3.1.3 and now i cannot connet to any wifi spot.. i try with any encryption (wep, psa, other) but the signal strenght is very low (I tried to put it over the AP). I tried to rest network and all configuration but I was not able to solve the problem. With an iPad and OS 4 all working with the same AP
thanks in advance

I would try these steps:
1. Reboot the router - unplug the A/C power for 30 seconds or so
2. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
3. After the touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and re-enter your network name, security settings, and network password.

  • IPod Touch WIFI Signal Fluctuates After Upgrading to iOS4

I upgrade to iOS4, and now my iPod Touch 3rd gen's WIFI signal fluctuates now matter how close I am to my Airport. I can be right next to the Airport and the signal will go back and forth from one bar to three bars. Never happened with OS 3.1.3.

For those having Wi-Fi issues... What level of encryption are you using on your routers? And is your router at full power? I'm not really having any Wi-Fi issues, I'm using WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] and I switch my router to full power after I started having the iOS4 batter problem. (it was on "Neighbor Friendly" Mode). I was worried that a weaker signal would contribute even more to the already existing battery drain and I'm figuring that having the encryption on the highest level is also affecting the battery as well, but I haven't tested the difference.
Using WEP + hidden SSID at home (I have some devices that choke on WPA). Open WiFi access with authentication at work. Router signal boosted from 42mW to 70mW using Tomato firmware.
Also, if you're using a Pre-N router, disabling "Neighbor Friendly" mode means you're using a ton of 2.4GHz channels. This prevents any neighbors near your home from using WiFi, because you've stolen all of the available channels. I had to set up my sister-in-law on Wireless-A, because her backyard neighbor hates her, and turned off "Neighbor Friendly" mode on his router. What a pain.

  • I am facing wifi and mobile 2G signal issue after upgrading to IOS 6 from IOS 5 in IPhone 3GS. Please help, restoring setting even didn't helped.

I am facing wifi and mobile 2G signal issue after upgrading to IOS 6 from IOS 5 in IPhone 3GS. The mobile carrier signal as well as WIFI suddenly drops zero and are then restored automatically. Sometimes i cannot conenct to WIFI even standing infront of WIFI router. Please help, restoring setting even didn't helped.

Update: my phone's connecting to the WiFi again. I don't know what did the trick. I did nothing since reinstalling the software. It hadn't worked then, it is now. I tried connecting to my dad's phone's hotspot( he uses a Moto G), and it worked. I then tried connecting to the WiFi at a friend's house, and when I came back home, my phone was able to connect to my WiFi! Is it of any significance that my friend's router doesn't require a password? My issue has been resolved( for now; I hope I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched). For anyone facing a similar issue, I suggest you try everything I did:
    1. Turn your router off for a minimum of 30 seconds, turn it back on and try connecting.
    2. Click on the WiFi network you are connected to, scroll to the bottom, tap "Renew Lease".
    3. Do a soft and hard reset.
    4. Reset network settings.
    5. Back your data up, erase all content from settings menu, restore from backup.
    6. Reinstall your software( put it in recovery mode).
I am not sure which of the above worked for me. Make sure you try everything. If none of the above works, take it to a genius bar or an authorised service provider. Good luck! :)

  • IPhone 4S signal loss after upgrade to iOS6

Does anyone has experimented a remarkable issue on the signal strength after upgrading the iPhone 4s to iOS 6? I'm having a lot of problems with the reception of my phone; most of the time I only can see 3 bars, and as soon as I grip my phone (with my left hand) the signal goes away totally and the "No Service" label appears; a side effect of this is battery life is much less as the phone is alway searching for signal (in the backgroun as I don't see the searching label).
Do we really have the "Deathgrip" issue again?
Please let me know if you've seen a similar behavor on your phone and if you fixed it, thanks.

    Hi folks,
I've experienced the same symptom  - cell bars dropping away then 'Searching' message - after I installed IOS 6 on my iphone 4.  The only twist is that I only experienced the symptom when I had a location service-based app open like Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, or Scout.  I found a fix though!  After I reset my Network Settings the problem is gone.  Go to General --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings and activate it.  The only caveat is that you'll have to reconnect to your wifi-based network (if you have one) and type in your wifi password again.  Hope this helps.

  • Loss of AP signal strength after upgrading to Clean Air on 5508's.

After upgrading three 5508's (which support 150 AP's) from WLC/WCS version  6.0.182.0 to version 7.0.98.0, our users complained about low signal strength.  Our pre-upgrade RSSI benchmarks confirmed a decrease of -10dB to -20dB signal strength across all AP's, effectively causing wireless networking to be unusable in key areas.
After confirming our Global signal strength settings in WCS and WLC's were still at the same settings they were at prior to upgrading, we contacted our VAR for advice.
He suggested that perhaps the upgrade caused all AP's to run at a lower signal strength.  He was right.
At his recommendation, we reconfigured the WCS to set two AP's to use Individual mode instead of Global mode.  This is found in Radios/802.11b/g/n/Tx Power Level Assignment.  Setting them to level 2 resulted in an average -15dB increase of RSSI, solving our problems in the test environment.  In one case we saw an increase of -30 dB for one AP.
The signal strength loss due to the upgrade was not expected, based on the upgrade documentation.  Now we must change the settings manually on the remaining 148 AP's.
I'd like to hear from anyone else who has experienced a decrease in signal strength after upgrading to Clean Air 7.  If you have information from Cisco that documents this problem, I'd REALLY like to read it.
    Hoping this may help you,
    RS

    Hi Rick,
this is not "expected" or "on purpose". It just happens that improving the RRM algorithm makes things better for 90% of the people but maybe worse for 10% of the people.
This is why you can set the Tx power treshold on the RRM or set the overal RRM algorithm sensitivity.
If you put the Tx power treshold to a louder number (=closer to 0) then the APs will reduce less their power level.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod Touch 2G - WiFi barely works after upgrading to OS 4

After upgrading the firmware on my iPod Touch 2G to iOS 4, I immediately lost all connectivity to WiFi. I have tried just about everything; resetting/restoring everything on the iPod, cycling the router, etc. None of this works. If I stand within a few feet of the router, I receive a weak signal.
I believe the problem lies within inconsistencies of hardware used in the iPod Touch 2G and iOS 4 being designed for slightly newer/updated hardware. This creates an incompatibility.
Any thoughts on how I can get my device functioning properly with WiFi. I'm just at a loss now.

My 2G touch with iOS 4.2.1 continues to operate perfectly on WiFi. The problem could be your router not quite being up to snuff for newer WiFi protocols but I won't rule out a touch problem either. What to do?
    1. Reboot the router (unplug the A/C power for a few seconds)
    2. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. Log onto your network as if it were a new network - tap Setting > WiFi > Other and re-enter everything.
Those three steps should clear things up. However, if you still have problems, write back and give us more details about your network - router, encryption used, etc.

  • MacBook wifi signal lost.

    Hello ,
I have a problem with my wifi signal. I have an Macbook 1,1 , and the Airport Card is Airport Extreme.
The problem is that i keep losing my wifi signal. It happens every where. I can keep being connected to wifi about an hour then the signal is lost. If i try to reconnect it says that the connection timeout. Sometimes it happens after 5 minutes sometimes in an hour. i have found only one place where i can stay connected for ever.
Also i have found that if i use the Assist me option on reconnecting then i get the wrong password error, although the password is correct. At the moment i am at home my own Macbook can't connect to wifi, but my friend ibook is working fine. So if anyone has an idea how to fix this problem please let me know. I have been in contact with my local apple care company but they don't have the will or knowledge to help me.

... but they dont show up when it scans even tho they do show up on the macbook.
That would appear to point to a problem with the built-in AirPort Extreme card in the iMac. Either it is not configured properly or there is something physically wrong with it.
    Let's double-check its configuration:
System Preferences > Network > AirPort
    o Location: Automatic
o In the left column, verify that an AirPort option exists. If it does not, click "+" to create one. (Note: If you are unable to create an AirPort configuration, the AirPort card in your computer either doesn't exist or it is not recognized.)
o Verify that AirPort is "On." Click "Turn AirPort On" button if not.
o Ask to join new networks: (enabled)
o Show AirPort status in menu bar: (enabled)
Systems Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced
    AirPort tab
o Remember any network this computer has joined: (enabled)
o Disconnect from wireless networks when logging out: (enabled)
o Require Administrator password to control AirPort: (disabled)
    TCP/IP tab
    o Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    o Configure IPv6: Automatically
    DNS tab
o DNS Servers: <if required, add your desired DNS server IP address(es) here>
o Search Domains: <if required, add your desired DNS Search Domain(s) here>
    WINS tab
o Enter desired WINS info or leave the defaults
    AppleTalk tab
    o Make AppleTalk Active: (disabled)

  • Z30 wifi range problem after upgrade to 10.3.1.1565

After upgrading on Z30 the OS from 10.2 to 10.3.1 I experience serious Wifi range problems. There is a room in our house where I had excellent wifi connection with 10.2 and now the Z30 does not find the router. Even the router SSID! If I go closer to the router, it connects (5-6 meters from the room where I tested). It is a quite new router, a Linksys EA6200 with the latest firmware. I rebooted the router. No result. I restarted Blackberry (switch on/off), no result. I deleted all wifi saved connection on phone and tried to reconnect. No result. I tried to make a soft reset (vol up/down buttons), no results. Dont understand, I made Over the Air (on wifi) OS update yesterday in the same room, same place. Now I dont see any router there altough the Android phone and the notebook gives 4 bar wifi there. Before OS Upgrade I made a full backup (everything) in the Blackberry Link, tried to restore to the earlier OS version, but the restore uploaded to the new OS the personal data and not the earlier OS System. How I could solve the Wifi problem or roll back to the earlier official version? I dont see possibility on phone. It's crazy to have a quite good business phone which is now unuseable for its original functions without normal wifi connectivity... I understand to advise hacking or restarting router, etc... but how about if I go to abroad? I cannot restart the router there... I need stable wifi or a stable operating system...

I have seen numerous posts on other forums about the degraded wifi performance on devices running 10.3.1.xxxx.
I definitely noticed a dropoff in signal strength when I went up to 10.3.1. I remedied it by putting in a better router, but I don't believe one should have to do that in order to maintain was was acceptable performance under a previous OS. 10.3.1 is supposed to be an upgrade after all.
I also notice a difference between Z10(STL100-1) and Z30(STA100-6) on 5GHz wifi : Z10 finds and connects with no problem, but Z30 does not find the network at all, even when right next to the router. I subsequently discovered that the router autoselects channel 149 on 5GHz, which the Z10 is happy with. For the Z30, I tried all other available 5GHz channels on the router in turn, and eventually found that Z30 will find and connect if the router is manually set to channel 48 only. A bit restrictive for a high-end device.
It has been postulated that the claimed improved battery life on 10.3.1 comes at the expense of compromised wifi performance. Could this be the case?
Hoping this issue soon finds itself in the "under investigation" box at BB.

  • 3GS Iphone wifi not working after upgrade

I upgraded my 3GS iPhone to version 6.1.1
After upgrading the iPhone I noticed that wifi wasn't working from the typical areas of my house, so I looked for a fix on these Community Forums and elsewhere on the web. Nothing has worked. I reset the network settings and tried amny other proposed fixes. Then, I walked to within 10 feet of the AEBS, and noticed a weak WIFI signal. Bluetooth worked just fine by the way.
I then upgraded my Gen 4 Airport Extreme Base Station to the latest firmware "hoping" that my resolve the loss of WIFI on the iPhone. It didn't.
I am going to try a factory reset next.
Any other recommendations? May the impending iOS 6.1.2 will revive the WIFI on my 3GS? I can only hope at this point.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

@shldr2thewheel, you are correct, I accidently typed an extra ".1". The version is 6.1 (10B141). Thanks for the post-spellcheck.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • WIFI & Bluetooth unavailable after upgrading 2.0

    Hi,
After upgrading to version 2.0.2 my IPhone has lost WIFI and Bluetooth. Mac addresses appears like 00:00:00:00:00:00 and the option in grey, saying "No Wi-FI" and Bluetooth unavailable.
I tried restoring to a previous version but not luck, looks like something becomes corrupt.
Is there any fix for that?
    Thanks in advance.

    Try this,
    Reset Network Settings
Choose General > Reset and tap Reset Network Settings.
    Or do a phone reset
Or return it to apple like this guy on http://gabriel.zeropeople.com/2008/08/15/iphone-wifibluetooth-problems/

  • Strange WiFi reception indications after upgrade to 3.0

After upgrading to 3.0 my WiFi will work wonderfully for maybe five or then minutes and then begin to lose the signal. Or, at least the strength indicator shows a loss of about half the strength. At the same time, the battery indicator will show about one eighth low and then show full while the WiFi signal strength goes low. This happened today several times in a row, at about ten minute intervals, while sitting on my living room sofa which is about 25 ft. and two interior walls from my wireless router. Before the upgrade, I could receive the signal without any variation for more than an hour.
If I am sitting in my den, about 15 ft. and one interior wall from the wireless router the signal strength stays at full power indication and the battery level indication remains normal.
This is very strange, has anyone else experienced the same problem?

A lot of us have. I fixed mine pretty fast but I can of stumbled onto the solution while trying a few more things. Given you seem to be having a battery issue as well, I'd work though the following steps:
    1. Reset your iPod (that's for the battery part of this only)
    2. Tap Settings > WiFi > the blue > next to your network name > tap Forget this Network
    3. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings
    4. Turn off your router, wait a few seconds and turn it back on.
    5. After your iPod has restarted, Tap Settings > WiFi > Other network and enter your network name, security settings, and your password.
That should return it to normal operation. If it does not, there are a few more tricks to try. Let us know what happens.
