WiFi speakers

I have been using my laptop to listen to my music, using my iPod touch as a remote -- love the convenience. I am wondering if any of the speakers I have seen work with WiFi, in other words, letting me plug the speakers into the power in one room and receive the music from my computer in another -- without having to plug anything into the audio jack on the computer.
If so, what would you recommend? I really don't want to spend much more than $100. I enjoy my music and would like better quality than I can get from the MacBook speakers, but I am not an audio nut who can tell the difference in quality with the more expensive stuff that's out there.
Thanks for any suggestions you can make.
Charles

I don't know of any Wi-Fi speakers but you can get the Airport Express and plug in any powered speakers you want to it. The Airport Express will run you $99 and then a cheap pair of speakers with a small sub woofer would run you $20-$50.

  • How can I rout sound from safari to wifi speakers?

    hi,
I can play music through the wifi speakers....  Not netflix movies... any help is appreciated.

Maybe by now you figured the solution out on your own but if you haven't the best solution is a program called Airfoil. I have used for about 6 years now since the first airport express were released. you can pick which application you want it to hijack music from and then you can set the indiviudual levels of the different speakers depending on how many airport express units you have set up on the network. I have used this program for years to listen to music throughout my entire house.
    hope this helps.

  • Apple TV wifi speakers

Can I stream visual to my TV using apple TV and sound to wifi speakers at the same time.
This is easy for itunes, but for browser stuff like iplayer can this be done?

airfoil will play any audio from the computer to all devices which support airplay
wireless speakers is a useless term
some wireless speakers have a dongle one have to connect to the device and it make the normal analog signal wireless and the speaker then recieve it
some wireless speakers use the sonos system
some wireless speakers use the logitech squeese box system
and I'm sure tons of others have their own system too think samsung and likely sony have a wireless speaker std.
so if you use airfoil you can play audio out of appletv's and airport express with speakers or stereos connected
or other systems which support airplay

  • Playing music to WiFi speakers

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question, so if there is a better one, please let me know.
I am using a WiFi speaker to listen to music from iTunes. The two are not in a direct line of sight, but they are less than 6 yards apart. Most of the time, all works as it should, but sometimes the music breaks up (the sound is like a speaker with a short in it). I can't find any obvious pattern, and the music sounds OK when I switch to the built in speaker, so it's not the file. I don't think the speakers actually have a short, so I am guessing the problem is that something is interrupting the WiFi signal.
Is this an inevitable problem using WiFi or is there anything I could do to eliminate or reduce the problem? I can always listen to the music on my iPod with headphones, but for long periods (I listen while reading), it's not all that comfortable -- not to mention the possibility of the close sound damaging an old man's ears.
I am using DigiCom speakers, if that makes any difference.
Thanks for any suggestions you can make.

A little additional information would be helpful here. Are you using AirTunes with an Airport Express? Or...?
I've been using an Airport Express to stream music wirelessly to my stereo, and whenever I've had that static/noise it was because the connection between the speakers and the Airport Express was slightly loose. The jack uses a standard mini headphone plug, and it can come loose very easily. Dust can also get in there and wreak havoc...
I suggest you check the physical connections between your speakers and whatever wireless device you're using, and if that doesn't solve the problem, please post back with more information about the hardware and software you are using.

  • N81 8GB issues (reset on WiFi, speakers background...

I have noticed one serious bug, and few minor software glitches.
    1. When I try to connect to local Wireless Network, WEP secured, I enter the key in all CAPS. Phone tries to connect and RESETS.
I have tried many times, it resets every time. Very unpleasant.
I have then downloaded the nokia updater software and updated the firmware to the latest version. The same problem remained. Device restarts once I try to connect to the wireless network.
Then I have tried entering the network wep key in lower case, such as abcde1a instead of ABCDE1A...you get the idea. That works.
It connects to the network now and does not restart; however, once connected it takes a long time for it to display which network it is connected to on the first screen (lets call it a desktop, I am new to Symbian).
From whatever I can figure out, if it works with wep key entered lowercase (works really fine) I do not believe it to be a hardware glitch?
    Few more things I noteiced.
    2. I got an application called 'Islamic Organiser' preinstalled. App manager simply refuses to delete it? Software bug?
    3. And the Speakers, they seem too loud, which is supposed to be so I guess. However, just prior the music starts you can hear background speaker noise. Is this supposed to happen? Once the music starts, you can not notice it anymore and music quality is good.
    4. SMS sorting by date seems to be broken, sorts by something else. Looks like SORT BY TYPE actually sorts by date. I might be wrong though.
So, basically, it is a great, really great phone; with above mentioned issues.
    Thank you all for reading!

I am in the US and have an Arabic version of the N81.

  • Static on speakers when using wifi

I've got a Mac Mini with some Altec Lansing speakers.  The Speakers are connected to the Mini mini-jack out (headphone).  The system uses Airport to get to the internet.
Anytime there is any network (WiFi) connectivity the speakers produce a bunch of crackles and static.  Which, unfortunately, is constant.
I've tried messing with the cable routing for the speaker's input cable and even tried ferrite beads on the speaker's input cable as well.  The problem persists and is super, super annoying.
I'm ready to tear my hair out!  Any ideas?

WiFi speakers never work as good as the manufacture says, return them and get a good 50 to $100 wired 2.1 speakers system from Logitech or Creative.

Can you use Sony NS400 wifi speakers with Apple TV

The iPad/iPhone need to be on the same section of the network as the Apple TV. connect the Apple TV to the wireless router instead of the AT&T router. If you can, connect the other devices as well...

  • Mac Mini Wireless Speakers Accessories?

Is there a Speaker Accessory for the MacMini that can be run wireless, ie. through Airport Extreme?

If by wireless you mean no wired connection between the mini and the speakers, try AirTunes.
If by wireless you mean WiFi speakers, check this out: http://www.househacker.com/permanent/Avega-Oyster-WiFi-Speakers

  • HT5922 My air play speakers both loose the signal at the same time

I recently started using Airplay with my itunes and internet radio. but the signal to my wifi speakers constantly cuts out. two speakers two different makes cut out at the same time. is it my ATTwirless modem?

I would suggest you to upgrade/reflash the router's firmware.you can download the firmware from www.linksys.com/downloads.
On the linksys setup page, click on the Administration tab to upgrade the firmware.
After upgrading the firmware, reset the router for 35 seconds, power cycle the router and re-configure the router from scratch.

  • Speakers for my tv, i have airport extreme

I've gone back and read a lot of similar questions on this forum but I'm not very Apple TV, regular TV tech savvy so I don't understand a lot of the answers.
I have a Sony Bravia TV, but its a few years old.  I don't think it has bluetooth but I'm not sure how to tell (its hanging on the wall).
I have my a ton of apple stuff:  imac, ipad, iphone, macAir all runing wirelessly thru the house on my Airport extreme.
I just bought Apple TV and am really enjoying it.  My tv has a couple of speakers in it but i'd like to get a few more for better sound.  I don't even understand what Air play is and my iMac is older.  I'd like all my TV watching (not just apple tv) to come thru more speakers.  How can I do that?  Do I do it thru the tv some how or the Apple tv or the airport?  LOL or won't it work at all?
wifi speakers?  I googled them and keep getting bluetooth.
    Thanks for any help,
    Susan

I should have said I live in a house built in 1850 and so can't really run speaker wire thru the walls here.  It would all be visable and I don't want that.  I want everything to come out of the TV built in speakers and another set that I want to buy when I figure out what sort to buy.   I'm not even sure what sort of receiver.  I wish I was more TV savvy.  I'm clueless!
    Thanks!

  • Audio playback through iPhone 4S speaker & attached headphones

    Hi!
I might have a problem and I definitely need help, please!
When I first got my iPhone 4S, I remember seeing an option... I was able to switch between the earphones and the speaker while listening to music (while headphones still attached, of course) and this was amazing since I listen to music all day but I don't want to keep attaching/removing the headphones over and over again. I remember playing with my iPhone and seeing an option to turn this amazing feature off (I did this while playing with multitasking), and I remember that I did change it to "earphones" or something, just out of curiosity, thinking that I could always change the settings to the way it was but now, I can't get it back!
I've read manuals, guides, reviews and I've only found information about this feature but no information about how to actually do it (again)
This has nothing to do with AirPlay, Bluetooth and/or Wireless speakers (nor Siri and Voice Control, I think)
So, I was able to switch between earphones and speakers while my earphones still attached but now that on-screen option is gone, I don't see that anymore. It was something similar to this, actually...

Well, I called the Apple support line and explained the whole thing but since I used the image as an example and I mentioned speakers, the guy helping me focused on wifi speakers and didn't really understand my problem; he thought it was something else.
Since then I've done some research and I've even reseted my iPhone twice but still not able to make it work again. I am not lying and I am not crazy (well, that's a different topic ) ... I remember seeing an image just like the one I linked on this post. This whole thing happened on a 64 GB iPhone 4S... no jailbreak or whatever, I don't even understand that thing so, yes, brand new, 100% original iPhone, untouched
Ok, so... I was listening to music, I had the headphones plugged in and I remember pressing a small square-like button, then 2 options showed on-screen; headphones and speaker, and I was able to select one and then go back to the other, switch between both headphones and the built-in speaker, while the headphones were still plugged in, of course.
The problem presented when I double clicked the home button (while multitasking) and then selected an option (right where the volume controls are located) and it was something like "always use headphone", "always use speaker" or something similar and then I selected headphones while I was playing music via the speaker and that was it, I haven't been able to "swap" since I changed that... so yes, I know it was possible because I've done it
Honestly, I am starting to think that my iPhone was not 100% configured or something and that's why I was able to do so.... and then pressed something by mistake which "corrected" that malfunction.
Anyway, thank you for the help Josephack, I appreciate it!

  • Issue getting IP address with PC

Hi guys, I've a problem. I have an AX and it works pretty fine when I connect to it with my MBA. I can surf the internet and use the wifi speakers.
I have a problem when I try to connect my PC laptop.
It connects but I receive the message that no IP address has been given. So I cannot get to internt.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

I had a similar issue with my old network; what wireless security are you using?
I was using WEP encryption at the time, which i later found out does not go down well with Windows, and can cause the Windows computer to be refused an IP address. I then changed to WPA/WPA2 encryption and this works much better.
I tried using WPA2 encryption for a while, which also refused Windows an IP address.
So WPA/WPA2 was the go for me, hope this helps.

  • Can't print from OS 10.6.8 to Canon mf4600

So I had 10.5 installed and just upgraded to 10.6
After all the updates I am now on 10.6.8
I tried to print and nothing happened.  I started looking around and tried to upgrade drivers, I found UFRII_v2.10.MACOSX and installed it but nothing happened, also found CanonPrinterDrivers2.8 and installed it, again nothing happened.
Looking for a way to get the printer back up and running.  I have it connected via USB as I use MF Toolbox to make PDFs and I don't believe the toolbox will work over the network.

    Welcome,
For starters if your iMac is running OS X 10.6.8, then this is not a PowerMac G5.
Only Intel iMacs can run OS X 10.6 or higher.
PowerMac G5 can only go as high as OS X 10.5.8 Leopard.
If you have a Wifi speakers that will pickup the Wifi signal from the Airport, it should be possible to stream Pandora from your iMac to the Airport to the WiFi device.

  • Windows 7 SP1 & Bluetooth

After I installed the Service Pack 1 of Windows 7, I can not connect my Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. I think the system does not recognize the Bluetooth adapter. What do I do? - iMac 2011 i5

Hi, to start with: Yes you should be able to connect your laptop, via bluetooth, to bluetooth speakers and playback music. In theory, at least.
I'm afraid I don't have the definitive solution for you, but after spending many hours (>20) myself on a similar issue, I found that the wifi speakers pair without needing a code or so. It seems that Bluetooth audio on Windows sucks. In my case, the speakers playback BT audio from my Samsung mobile perfectly, but Windows: no way. Here are the steps I've taken in troubleshooting in my case, and some useful links:
    - the speakers are discovered as BT device
    - for some people, this worked: click on Add a Device and set your bluetooth to pairing mode > when your device shows up in the list DO NOT HIT NEXT > Instead right click and go to Properties and select ALL the options for the services and after it install everything it will work for you. Also, please don't forget to change your default sound device in Control Panel and Sound. Source: http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/128671-bluetooth-headset-pairs-but-wont-connect-not-avail-pla...
Some hints in case your pairing is succesful:
    - note that when your BT speakers have succesfully been added as a BT device, they wil only show up in the Devices & Printers, and NOT anymore in the Devices window of your BT manager.
    - you should see (a) Bluetooth Audio device in Devicemanager/ sounds video and game contollers section. This represents your speakers. The Audio device should display either Audio Sink (not sync) or the Advanced Audio (A2DP) service in order to play back.
